Looking for non-video Photoshop CC Tutorials

Can anyone suggest a tutorial for Photoshop CC that isnt a video? I'm new to the program and I just don't work well with video tutorials. I was wondering if buying the book for CS6 might be useful, or if it would just be pointless.
Thanks!
Dani

  • Looking for easy videos to teach someone OS X

My uncle just got his first computer and I am looking for something to teach him all about his new Mac. Im thinking something like the video professor you see on tv only for Tiger.
I have seen the videos on Apples site but they are all for the ilife suite which is nice but I am looking for something with videos on the little things like how to get on the internet, how to write an email, how to move files, etc... The only other site I have found is the Atomic Learning site but there is alot of things there he will never need like automator and voiceover, etc...
I am also only looking for free videos not paid services or purchases. Thanks all!

EDIT: This reply should have been to tbharber.
There are some free video Tiger tutorials.
Also, Apple has some topics/tutorials on their Mac 101 site and Switch 101 with some QT videos.
    Hope these help.

  • Dock Adapter in iPod Classic Box--What Is It Good For + non-video iPod Doc?

I bought a 160 gig iPod Classic yesterday and it came with a small dock adapter (looks like a snap in type item). What is it for? I looked at the dock for my iPhone & the dock for my non-video 60 gig iPod (can't remember which generation--it's color display & does pictures), but the adapter did not work in either dock. Is it meant for docks like the Bose Sound Dock?
boldSecond question:bold I tried using my iPod dock with the iPod Classic, but it did not work--it felt like it was loose. Does anyone know of a way to get a dock to work with the iPod Classic?
    TIA,
    Amy

How hard is it to change out the dock adapter inserts?
Easy peasy. Just lift out the old insert and clip in the new one. Takes seconds.

  • I'm looking for a video of a good, comprehensive demonstration of what Motion 5 can do.

All I can find so far are tutorials... any suggestions?

I don't know of anything like that. What have you not been able to figure out from the Apple web page for Motion?  It looks like you are using Final Cut Pro X, all of the titles, generators, transitions, templates are created in Motion. Companies like Ripple Training and MotionVFX create plug-in tools or templates that are built in Motion, so those are good places to see the capabilites in action.  I know these are brief, but here are some overviews by training companies that discuss what Motion can do:
    http://www.lynda.com/Motion-5-tutorials/Essential-Training/82541-2.html
    http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/motion5101-overview-and-workflow-guide
    http://www.rippletraining.com/categories/apple-pro-apps-tutorials/motion-5-tutor ials/getting-started-in-motion-5.html
Other than that, maybe you can explain what projects you might want to use Motion for or what capabilites you are looking for?

  • Looking for feedback on Photoshop web compatibility tool

We initially build https://www.oss-usa.com/psd-parser?promo=psd-parser as internal tool for validating Photoshop artwork against known web compatibility issues and recently made it available as a free online service.  Looking for feedback from folks actively using Photoshop on web design projects.

Hello otechcomputing. is this how you want to setup your network?
If so, Guest Networks cannot be " extended" since it has Website Authentication encryption which the RE1000 does not support. Here are my suggestions:
    1. Main Network WiFi password should be WPA2 Personal (more secured)
    2. Enable Guest Access (password protected)
    3. Reconfigure the RE1000 to connect to the EA6500 (main network) and change the extender's network name and password (still WPA2 Personal). You can name it with "EXT" at the end to designate it as such.

  • Looking for Simple Video & Audio Player

    Hello,
I am very new to Flash so any help would be greately appreciated.  I am looking to add video and audio clips to my movie.  I want the player to be a part of the movie and not just embedded in a web page.  Is there a place where I can:
    1. Download free players to be used within the movie
    2. Get some detailed instructions on how to accomplish it.
    Thanks for any help.
    Craig

flash packages a fully functioning player with a variety of skins (and you can customize the skins and make your own) in the components panel called an flvplayback component.

  • Looking for background videos

    Hello all
I'm on the hunt for various background videos, I have found IStockPhoto and Getty Images, but I was wondering what other options I may have and, was hoping for a few recommendations, I'm not really looking for anything specific cause it really all depends on what project I'm working on at the time....
    Thanks

    Is joke, yes?
Anyone know where I can find a red and white swirling, falling into the vortex,
There are several presets and prebuilts within Motion and LiveType.
    kinda cartoony looking type
You mean text? Can't imagine text doing what you're describing without many carefully applied filters. Since the text is customized by the user, no.
    background to key?
You mean key in front of? Or you want to key out the background? Huge difference and we cannot possibly read your mind.

  • Looking for a specific photoshop font

I'm looking for this font here: http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k229/ohgoddammit/photoshopfontcopy.jpg
    Thanks in advance!

Wow. I was gonna say go to http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ too, but that's probably too small a source file for it. As John said, some of the users there may be able to help. Try Robert's suggestion as well.

  • Fcp looking for non-existent plug ins

i installed some demo audio units plug-ins a while back and didn't like them so i deleted them.
i just had to re-install FCP and now, every time i launch, it looks for each and every one of the audio units. i have to click cancel like forty times to start the program. i've thrown away my prefs, reinstalled the prgram, thrown away all the install receipts, made sure the audio untis are gone etc. I also use Logic Pro as well (that's what the audio units were originally intended for)

  • Looking for ibook video camera

I am looking for one that offers the following.
    1) Is priced under $400
    2) Has a light
    3) Can plug into my VCR so I can make duplicates or send people my tapes.
    4) Uses digital tapes
    5) Can plug into my ibook G4 via Firewire or USB 2.x
    6) Has a color viewfinder (most seem to have a black and white viewfinder).
    Thanks,
    John

I have an old PowerPC dual G5 running 10.4.11 and I'm working on some HD projects at the moment, so it certainly can be done on your machine. Upgrading/extending your RAM might be a good idea though; is that possible on your machine?
If you go HD with the HF-S100, you'll need to be thinking about hard drive space; you'll need a lot of it; it's gonna add up quick. To use content from that camera (which is AVCHD format), you'll be converting it to Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) to use in FCE (iMovie will be doing the same thing internally, if you use that), and the file sizes are large. I've got a 12 second clip here on my desktop from an HF100 converted to AIC that's 169MB. So do the math... If you're doing a lot of filming you'll need to have a plan for backing up and archiving...offline storage perhaps.
But otherwise I think you've got a machine that will be OK, although I wonder if you have enough RAM....

  • X61: Bios looks for non-existing CDROM drive?

    Hi,
I recently observe a problem with my X61. After the machine is power on, it stops (with a blank screen) for about half a minute before starting to boot Vista. I also notice that if I connect a USB CDROM drive to the machine, then it will not stop during the startup process. I think the problem is that the Bios is looking for a CDROM drive which is not there. Since this problem only happen recently, I suspect that it is due to a recent Bios update. I down-graded the bios from v2.20 to v2.19 but the problem still exists. Could anyone let me know which bios version should I downgrade to? Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Daniel

Did you check the boot order in BIOS first? By default , the optical drive should be listed, then the HDD. Sometimes depending on your BIOS seup, you'll see one of of the USB devices listed first. If you power on the unit with a USB CDROM already attached  to the unit while turning it on, it's possible the BIOS will detect it and try booting from it.
Enter the BIOS at boot by tapping F1
Then Go to "Startup" , then "Boot"
Remember that you can also exclude any item you want BIOS boot order (normally by pressing "X") Use F5 and F6 to arrow up and down the Boot order.
You can also press F9 to try loading the BIOS defaults.
Let me know if this helps.
    Cheers,
    Mark

  • Looking for non-specific hardware recommendations

Let's start by saying I am an avid amateur photographer who uses Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4 on a Windows Laptop with the following specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premiium
    Intel i7 Q820 @ 1.73GHz
    8G ram
    750Gb hard drive 7200rpm
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD4670
    Bamboo pen tablet
Dell  SP2009W 20" monitor as primary display - laptop screen as secondary display
While this functions fine for now, the more I learn and use Photoshop, the slower and more annoying my system is becoming.  It is not uncommon for saving a single tiff file in PS to take 5 minutes.  I am considering building a new computer.  I am confident that I'm able to build a computer but the vast number of choices of hardware is where I get confused.  Also, I don't know which components are most important to run PS the fastest.
I've read through a bunch of posts of people asking "Is this system any good for Photoshop" or "which video card is better 4xx or 5xx" etc.  But that's not really what I need to know.  Does anyone have general advice on what's most important to PS?  RAM?  GHz? Scratch disks?
Thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions.

If you put a system together yourself around a motherboard you can create a near-monster for 3 grand.
A really potent combination might be a motherboard based on i7-37xx or i7-39xx (which has great core speed), 16GB RAM with room to grow, 4 x OCZ Vector 256GB SSDs in RAID 0 for the system, applications, and working data, plus a spinning HDD for lower-access data (e.g., your photo library), ATI Radeon HD 7850.
Another possibility (which is the path I usually take) is to find high-end just-off-lease workstations (like Dell Precisions) on eBay.  Most folks don't realize that a previous generation system with all the highest-end parts can outperform the current generation designs with anything but the highest-end parts, and the price can be quite a bit less.
Just as an example:  I've bought from these people before:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Precision-T5500-Dual-2x-Six-Core-6C-Xeon-2-80GHz-X5660-Quadro -4000-8-310-/251205144017?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item3a7cfe4dd1
You could ask to downgrade the Quadro 4000 video card to a base model, get your own e.g., ATI 7850, and spend the savings on SSDs.
