Looking for old Mac game -- War game like EMPIRE DELUXE

In 1984 or so, I played a Mac war game that was very much like Empire Deluxe for the PC. It had units that you would move on a grid-like map. You captured cities and used them to make more units. One of the units was a nuclear bomber. You would click where you wanted to detonate the bomb on the map and the program would ding twice and blot out a space the size of a dime. Later in the game, the size increased to the size of a quarter. The game was played on a Mac +. Anyone know this game?

  • Looking for old Missile Command-type game

I used to play this Missile Command clone around 10 years ago, I remember a black background and colorful bases and "missile lines". Can't remember what it was called though. If anyone knows that would be awesome.

Are you looking for online play? I did a Google search for Missile Command and came up with a bunch of online Missile Command games. I was able to save a java based version as a web archive with Safari and play offline.
I have the old Missile Command in black and white, but I got it in the OS 7 days so I don't remember where I got it.

  • New iMac looks for old Mac tower

I purchased a new iMac recently and used Migration Assistant to move my Documents folder over from my old G5 Tower. To the best of my memory, I did not use Migration Assistant to move system files or applications over to the iMac.
Once I thought I had everything configured just right, 3 things occured where the new iMac was looking for the old G5 Tower:
    (1) at startup, a dialog twice appeared, indicating that the old G5 could not be found. I used the Accounts/Log In Items to disable start up items that were "unidentified." First problem solved.
    (2) When I try to print, the iMac looks for my old G5 when I first try to access a pulldown menu in the print dialog window, and after quite awhile an alert message appears indicating that the G5 server is unavailable. I've tried deleting all installed printers and then reinstalling them, to no avail.
    (3) In my folder windows, under the Places list, there is a favorite folder that is repeated twice, one that links to the "04_FT" folder on the new iMac, and an identically named item that does not function as a link (but a folder with this name did live on the old G5) and I'm unable to remove it from the list. When I Control click on it, the only option I get is to "Open Sidebar Preferences."
I suspect that both (2) and (3) are similar "ghost" references back to the old G5, but I don't know how to remove them.
I would very much appreciate any help or suggestions that the iMac community might have to offer.

I would recommend starting over and instead of using Migration Assistant this time using Setup Assistant. They are cousins, similar but different. First SA is more reliable and second it will not create a second user account. Because you are migrating from a PPC machine I would migrate everything EXCEPT applications. You should manually install your apps, this will give you the opportunity to udate the ones that need it and I'm sure there are many. You may even apps that won't run on Intel based machines so why migrate them at all? You can use the Setup Assistant tips beginning at "Second chance...." You can either restore from your old machine or from one of it's backups. I think you'll see it's a pretty clean process, something you passed over (I'm not sure why) when  you turned on the new iMac for the first time.

  • Looking for All-In-One Sudoku Game App for iPad?

Bare with me...  I'm going to learn now if this is an appropriate question here and if not where to go that would be appropriate?
I'm looking for a great iPad Sudoku game app that offers a variety of different format variations using numbers 1-9, different colors, and different shapes--that sort of thing...instead of just the common numbers.  I'm not concerned about scoring the game or tracking time or the leaderboard stuff.
I've looked and found a gillion to consider including Google and looked at some for more detail but so far have found none...and maybe none exist or maybe I'll have to settle for two or three separate Sudoku games to fullfill what I'm after?
So maybe someone in the community knows of just the Sudoku app I'm looking for?
    Thank you.

A quick Google search provided the following:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sudoku-hd-for-ipad/id364909963?mt=8
I don't know if it offers exactly what you want, but you can check the App Store, or you can go to Google and type the following in your search bar:  apple sodoku app ipad
    Several options will come up.

  • Why tomcat is still looking for old jar files?

Please help me it is a very serious problem.
I updated one of the jar files used by the project. I am using a new method that is available only in the new library. I removed the old jar files in my local system, and everything worked fine. Then I commit those files to the subversion, which is in the testing server, and then I created the war file. The war is successfully created, then I deployed to the tomcat. But, now there is an error in the portion I am using the method that is only available in the new jar files.
One of the error when I go to that portion is:
    1. No Such Method Exists
The other errors on log files are:
    1.
    WARNING: Failed to open JAR
java.util.zip.ZipException: No such file or directory
    2.
validateJarFile(tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/j2ee.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spe
    c 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class
Please help me, I have tried every other way to solve this. I have tried removing all the old jar files there were, and replacing with the new one. I have tried creating a war file and ftping to the testing server.
I problem is still there and it is because the testing server's tomcat is still looking for old jar files. I used Netbeans and add jar files as usual method.

Check the contents of your WAR file that you are deploying on the testing server to see if it contains the JAR that you can't find.
More than likely you are building your WAR file and your new JAR file is not being included in the build.

  • Mouse Availability for Old Macs

Does anyone make a mouse anymore for old macs? I have an old system, with an 7.5.1 OS and a standard keyboard, that still runs fine. I had been using a Kensington "Mouse-in-a-box" Model #642068. But now it needs to be replaced, and I cannot find a compatible mouse. The current Kensington Mouse in a Box for older macs apparently only fits into a deluxe keyboard. Does anyone know where I can buy a compatible mouse?

    1) Thrift stores. Usually there will be a rack or something with a bunch of old mice, most of the time there will be at least one ADB mouse. You may have to try more than one store, or go back from time to time.
    2) eBay. I did a search for "mouse adb" and there were quite a few listings, not expensive, and some were a mouse and keyboard combination.
    3) Here. I bet there are lots of people here who have a spare mouse to share.
    4) Did you try bringing your keyboard into the store to try it with the current ADB mouse?

  • Anyone know the name of these old Mac Performa/Quadra games?

Back in the day, my parents owned a Macintosh Performa (or, I guess it's also known as Quadra) LC 630 or similar model (I'm not sure about it internally but externally it looks virtually identical to the picture on wikipedia = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:MacintoshLC630.jpg). There were two games I played on it that I vaguely remember:
1.) I think it is called "Wacky Jack". In the game you answers some kind of questions. It was a software CD that i think came with the computer. The main character was a jester that apparently had a....unique laugh. I think Don Pardo might have done the voice of the narrator.
2.) A space-type game where you had to gather flags without dying. There was a map in the corner and you were a yellow (I think) triangle and the enemies appeared red. The main loading screen of the game had some kind of woman android on it and the music was techno-like and rather fast paced.
I have done quite a bit of research and keep coming up empty-handed. I just recently bought an iMac and was hoping to be able to play these old Mac games.
Conformation, websites, software... heck, anything would be helpful. However, as you can see, the most important thing is the names..
    Thanks for your time.

    ♥,
"2.) A space-type game where you had to gather flags without dying. There was a map in the corner and you were a yellow (I think) triangle and the enemies appeared red. "
There is the tank game that is a black screen and triangle/pyramids and other obstacles. You drive your tank over the flags to collect them and have to avoid mines/enemies. My sons will remember the name or I could crank up one of their old gaming Macs. I will recognize the name if I see it.
Spin Doctor is a great game to watch for.

  • Looking for router that allows 'isolating' game console

My WRT54GL is starting to come to the end of it's life, and I'm trying to select it's successor.
In a perfect world, I'm looking for a product that will allow me to drive my kid's XBOX through one channel, leaving another channel for the computers in the house.
I realise that 'isolation' is not the right word for this, but does this exist?  In what product?  And what do you call this feature?
    Thanks -
      --Beric

OK, a bit more research done and what I need is 'simultaneous dual-band'. Something like the E3000.
So next question:  Let's say I don't assign separate SSID's to the individual bands.  Will both bands be available automagically?  Will individual systems grab the best band, i.e N's to the 5GHz and G's to the 2.4GHz?  Are will everything simply go to the 5GHz?
And if my N-based laptop is on the 5GHz band, will it see the G-based printer on the 2.4Ghz band (assuming no separate SSID's)?
    Thanks again -

  • Looking for Classic Mac OS QuickTime 6.0.2 Full Install

    Hello:
I would like to finally resolve a problem I've had for several years. When I upgraded to QuickTime 6.0.3 a couple of .avi files which played fine with QuickTime 6.0.2 do not work correctly. About 30 seconds into the clips, the video stops. Audio continues fine. I am also unable to convert the files to another format because of a "compression error." Since I know these files worked when I had QT 6.0.2 I would like to downgrade so I can convert the files.
I've looked for a long time, but have been unable to find the Classic Mac OS QT 6.0.2 Full Install file anywhere. Does someone have this? Of course this would be the one file that I do not have a backup.
    TIA!

The name of the Apple downloads file for QT 6.0.2 was probably something very close to this:
    QuickTime602_Installer.smi.bin
Have you tried searching among those old legacy file downloads on the Apple downloads? I know they are sometimes hard to find and reasonable searches using the Apple search often gets one no where. You might try googling for the old quicktime and get into the Apple downloads through the "back door" so to speak.

  • Looking for old arrow-hitting-target alert sound

I'm looking for an alert sound from when I first used Macs in about 1989,
around the time of the Mac SE. The alert sounds like an arrow flying
through the air, striking a target, and briefly quivering.
I'd love to find this sound in a form that could be used on a current Intel
    Mac running MacOS X 10.4.
    Thanks,
    Greg
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Jim,
Yes, I'm still here I'm told this sound would be in the old SND format, but that iTunes can convert that format if you're able to find it.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Hi, I'm looking for some old Nokia ringtones (ah, those days). The Nokia ringtones called Airy, Coconut, and Beach are some ringtones I'm currently looking. If any one can help me I'll be greatful.
Nokia should release their previous ringtones for us, because it's so good. I like the Nokia tune play in harp instrument that can be found in Nokia 1600.

Hi, Chiyawa. We appreciate your interest in our products. You can try visiting any Nokia store or authorized Nokia retailers for their availability in your area. I have a 13" MacBook Air, Mid 2013.
I am really worried about dropping my MacBook and breaking it. I am looking for a reasonably priced have duty case, like the ones that snap on to it and I have full flexibility of the hinge and that.
Could anyone recommend a good case for my Mac.
