"...mac g4 700mhz processer,128mb sdram..."
Here are the Tiger System Requirements.
The iMac G4 700MHZ, will support Tiger 10.4.x, but you will need additional RAM.
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much free space is available?
What type of internal Optical Drive does it have?
"...have 10.4.11 tiger..."
Is that a a href="http://members.aol.com/onlyftp/TigerRetailFull.jpg">Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD?
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.

  • Dead iMac, Looking for Options

    My girlfriends 2001 iMac G3 died, and it would not be too much of a problem if it were not for all the photos on her hard drive.
    I think i can get the hard drive out but I do not know if there is a specific size of hard drive enclose for the iMac's hard drive.
    Can anyone help me out with this?
    Also, is there any way I should store the hard drive after I take it out of the computer and before I put it in the enclosure.

    The iMac has standard IDE/ATA HD, so you can get almost any enclosure, and put it in there, and then recover your data. I like the Mercury Elite Pro enclosures from OWC found Here. One thing that you should look for when buying an enclosure if make sure it has the Oxford 911 chipset and not the more common - and less expensive Prolific chipset. The only think you should do whilst teh HD is out of the computer is to make sure it doesn't get wet and what not.

  • Airport Extreme Causing Kernel Panics - Looking for Options

    I have an iBook G4/1.42 gHz/512MB (mid-2005) that is now out of warranty. All of a sudden, it starts throwing kernel panics. I read through the panic log and the log has references to the built-in Airport card. Keep in mind this is the model with the Airport card that is not easy to remove.
    I turned off the Airport card and the KP's have stopped. At this point, I'm looking for suggestions. Am I better off trying to replace the Airport card or is there an external device that will suffice at lower cost. Thanks for your input.

    I'm in the same boat ... the kernel panics made me think I was using a windows machine. I should have known something was starting to go wrong when the internal fan was turning on more and more -- it must have been trying to cool the airport card off!
    Right now, I have airport and bluetooth turned off and I haven't seen panic since and the fan has stayed off. I'm using a firewall connection and internet sharing to my work laptop so my wife can use her email (a very temporary solution).
    The www.ifixit.com site has 'cards' for $70 and claim the installation is "difficult" -- they don't even offer installation instructions.
    For now, I think I'll run a wire from the airport to the where the iBook normally resides. And maybe when I concede that my iBook won't get fixed by itself, I order one of the external USB 802.11b/g dongles.

  • Looking for option to view modified photos

    After years of owning a Mac and organizing all of my photos manually, I decided to break away from using Adobe Bridge and import everything into iPhoto. I think iPhoto is easy to use and doesn't get in my way except for two things:
    1. I'd like to be able to view all of the photos I've edited using iPhoto (i.e., I'd like to be able to have something like a View option that allows me to display Modified only). This would help me post photos to Flickr much easier so I know which ones I've edited (I edit all of the pictures I choose to upload in some way before uploading to Flickr).
    2. I'd like to be able to make multiple versions from an original and then have iPhoto index them.

    Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
    Are you wanting to see the current version of all photos or seeing only the photo that have been modified - in iPhoto you will alway see the current version of each photo and if you export it you will get the current version
    You can go to the pictures folder and right click (control click) on the iPhoto library and select the show package contacts option and look - do not move or change anything - in the modified folder to see which photos have been modified
    2. I'd like to be able to make multiple versions from an original and then have iPhoto index them.
    you can duplicate any photo as many times as you want and edit each one giving you different versions - what exactly do you want iPhoto to with these
    If you have suggestions for Apple these user boards are not the place to make them - use the provide iPhoto feedback command under the iPhoto menu

  • Firefox insists on looking for some links on local disk

    The other day, Firefox, out of the blue, asked me to confirm something which I did, but was swamped and did not notice the details of the question. Now, when I go to my own website (which is not problem) but try to click on a relative link, Firefox looks for the html file on my local machine instead of the Internet. I have looked for options to alter, checked the registry, etc, and can't stop this. Third party links embedded in my website open normally. This is driving me crazy and I see that some other people have had this problem...but their pleas for help did not garner them a solution. Help!

  • Looking for advice on small office use ...

    I'm looking for options to share our photo library in a small office environment. Essentially we have a single person (ie, our photographer) who is responsible for maintaining our program's photo library. What we're looking for is a way for him to very easily "publish" the photos which would allow other staff in our environment to quickly find and use images when necessary. We're a pure mac environment, although our photographer is currently a bridge / CS3 user (ie, not Aperture). I'm an experience Aperture user at home, and I'm trying to see if it could be used in a shared environment.
    If not - does anyone have any suggestions ?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Tell us about your "shared environment." I assume the various Macs are connected via a local network. Do you have a dedicated server? (A mac that is used to store files and is always on - that all other macs can access via cable or wireless.)
    If so, it seems that Aperture may be the wrong app for this. Since "everyone else" just needs to access pictures that the photographer has adjusted (using AP), what you need is software that accesses a "library" of image files. I'm thinking of something like the old iViewMedia Pro (now MS Expression Media, yes it's available for the Mac). So, basically you need a good DAM (digital asset management) app for everyone to use.
    What I envision is this (not sure if this is the workflow you are thinking about) - photog processes RAW or other image formats in AP and exports adjusted images to jpg or tiff. These are then stored in some folder hierarchy. "The DAM Book" discusses a strategy for this - folders in the
    <year>
    <month>
    <day>
    hierarchy, but you can use some other organization like
    <year>
    <subject>
    Once the photog has processed the images and exported the final products, you import each new batch of images into each of the DAM software on each Mac. This software should be able to read metadata like keywords (you'd have to be sure the AP exported image files have XMP sidecar files or DNG files with embedded metadata that includes keywords - keywords are the important data you really need for everyone to use when searching for images). Unfortunately, DNG is still not well supported in AP, it's better handled in Lightroom. However, others here may want to add some ideas. I believe you can add some metadata like keywords directly inside other image file formats (tiff, jpg??). Don't know if AP handles this.
    At any rate, look into Expression media or something similar that others here might suggest.

  • About:home comes up on my browser - how do I get rid of this? I cannot find the place to look for Internet Options so I can change my homepage - where is this on the new firefox? Thank you

    I have a new computer - it has windows 7 and I have your latest mozilla firefox running. about:home is the opening URL and I know this is not good. But when I looked for the tab to find Internet Options(like I had on my last computer) I can't find it anywhere! I used to use that to change my homepage - that got rid of the about:home before. So now, what should I do? Where is the Internet Options tab? I did try to use the control panel to switch my homepage, but it only switched my Internet Explorer browser homepage, even though it is not my default browser. Thank you.

    How can I use pdf pack to convert cubase documents  (music scores)  into pdfs? I am looking for the former possibility to install acrobat like a printer but i don't have this option with "pdf pack". Can you help?

    Hi mariab,
    What format are those music scores (I'm not familiar with cubase documents). But, it may be that Adobe PDF Pack doesn't support that format. In that case, Acrobat is the way to go. You can then print your files to PDF as you'd like. You're welcome to try Acrobat for free for 30 days to see whether it's going to work for you. If you decide it is, and you'd like to use it going forward, you could convert your PDF Pack subscription into an Acrobat subscription.

  • There is no option under the "Preferences" in iTunes to "Look for iPhones or iPads."

    Help!
    Every advice on not being able to link my Remote on my iPhone to my pc iTunes states to go to 'Preferences' in iTunes and under the 'Device's tab to check "Look for iPhones or iPads". I have no such option.
    Can someone help?
    Is my Norton 360 Antivrus firewall preventing remote access? Could this also be the reason why I cannot get the Airplay option on my iTunes either (trying to connect to B&W Zeppelin Air)?

    I've connected via USB, clicked on my iPhone (is that 'select'?), but where do I type the 4 digit code in to? What window?...
    No USB, this is done over your wi-fi network.  You do have wi-fi at home right?  Are your computer and iPhone both connected your network, and the same network? (some wi-fi networks have a separate guest network).

  • Looking for Thunderbolt 2 RAID Array options that can match the new Mac Pro's quietness -- or at least come close!

    Maybe it is too early to talk about anything beyond the Pegasus2 Series (http://www.promise.com/promotion_page/promotion_page.aspx?region=en-global&rsn=1 00) when it comes to Tunderbolt 2 storage options. Looking for something on the order of 8 to 12 usable TB of redundant storage or possibly a JBOD option of 4 bays. This is coming close but I do not think it is Thunderbolt 2 (http://www.g-technology.com/products/g-raid-thunderbolt).
    Either way -- looking for users experience not only on usable Thunderbolt 2 solutions but more importantly noisiness. I want to upgrade my existing Mac Pro to one of the new ones and I have found the old one to be nearly unnoticable in a quiet desktop environment. Would love to find the same peace and quiet when migrating to the new form factor that is going to need external storage to match what I have been used to inside the old Mac Pro.

    Not your quiet storage, but then I would put it in a cool closet or small room off to the side :-)
    http://www.macgurus.com/store/Item/ARC8050 ( I was assuming but maybe not, that it would support RAID6 which is always preferable for larger arrays. Seems to have most features you want for 8 drives). MacGurus "Burly" are never quiet but they are rugged and well tested.
    Migrating storage will be a concern. I don't like the noise from my older SATA OWC dual-drive metal enclosure though suppose to be 'acceptable' unless they have improved the fans they are out for me.
    OWC for Thunderbolt products.
    Helios enclosure (the new dual-slot Helios PCIe chassis)

    USB3 hard drive enclosure.
    For those without eSATA enclosures, a simple eSATA to USB3 adapter might do the trick.
    USB3 is plenty fast to house two hard drives.

  • Why is my mac mini server apparently looking for wireless while I hold option at startup?

    Besides the Lion recovery partition on my Mac Mini, I have 2 partitions:  One with Lion and one with Snow Leopard Server that I often boot from in order to test some things.  However, it takes FOREVER at the gray screen while I hold option, until the various startup disks appear.
    There is a spinning wheel next to a popup menu button, and the wireless symbol.  The Mac Mini is apparently looking for wireless for some specified time, then finally gives up and says, "Ok, here are your disk partitions."  This is very annoying, and I would like to know what it is, and how to turn it off.  My Mini is plugged into Ethernet.

    Are there any Mount points setup or listed in Login Items?
    Might try a variation of this from older OSes...
    This command adds a delay, in this case 45 seconds, before displaying the Login Window.
    defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow StartupDelay -int 45
    If the Login Window UI detects that the network servers are available when it starts, it will skip the delay, also if network servers become available before the delay expires, the Login Window UI cancels the delay and displays.

    I'm trying to make a time sheet and include a grid, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to print a full grid on my spreadsheet.  There are options for shaded grids but I want a defined grid, and I have spent the last 2 hours looking for the answer.  Any ideas?

    Hi Cynthia,
    Are you planning to have this table do any of the calculation, or is is to be used as the electronic equivalent of a sheet of paper with a grid printed on it—a place to record the data.
    For your seven column table:
    Are you using one or more rows at the top of the table to label the data below? If so, you might want this row (or these rows) to be set as Header Rows.
    Are you using the leftmost column to label the rows? If so, you may want this column to be a Header column.
    The default table supplied on the "Blank" templates contains one header row and one header column. If you need more (or fewer) Header rows or columns, select the table, then go Table (menu) > Header Rows > (choose the number you need). Repeat to set the number of Header Columns.
    To make a seven column table from the table supplied by default, click on any cell in column H (The eighth column), and drag right to add more cells to the selection, until you get to the last column of the table. With these cells selected, Go Table > Delete Columns.
    To make the remaining seven columns fit across a single page:
    Go View > Show Print View to show the table as it would appear when printed to paper.
    Select the table by clicking its icon in the Sheets List to the left (easy method), OR by carefully clicking on the outside boundary of the table itself (fiddley method).
    With the table selected, you will see square white handles at each corner and at the middle of each side (including the top and bottom).
    With the mouse, grab the handle in the middle of the right side of the table and drag right (or left) until the table just fits onto the width of the defined page.
    With the table still selected, set the thickness and colour of the cell boundaries using the Gaphics Inspector (as described by Jerry), or using the Stroke, Thickness and Color Well controls in the Format bar above the working portion of the Window.
    Regards,
    Barry
