The computer comes wit an empty drive bay for a second drive, but there is no connector included for the drive. Drives do not come with connectors, as they are not product specific and may fit many machines with different configurations. The part I need is (taken from the main drive) 0744 3 AT 579 as shown in the attached image. I now have the second drive but cannot use it, due to the lack of this elusive connector. I have searched for many hours arcoss the web, with no luck, and do not find it on the HP site. Does anyone know where I can get his part? Thank you.

I am waitng for a resonse from several 'computer salvage' companies, where it may be cheaper, but if not I will bite the bullet for $18 +S/H.
Knowing these parts do not come with drives, I am very surprised it is not already installed in bay 2 by HP.
By this time I should not be surprised at anything HP does or does not do!

Looking for the upgrade of AW

As my P4 home computer failed, I've to use?the old P2 with AWE64 soundcard again. And i've noticed the big difference between the integrated AD sound of P4 and the sound of old AWE64.
While AWE64 seems to give noticably more distorted sound, I feel it as more melodic and pleasing. The AD seems to give the more balanced sound on simple melodies, but complex melodies sound like sand and cotton wool.
I like the AWE64 sound more, don't know why -- maybe, just nostalgic feelings. Listening to AD tires me, while listening AWE64 reanimated the music that annoyed me on AD.
So, i'm looking for non-expensi've new version of AWE64 for modern computers. I don't need the features like on-board synthesis any more, nor the complex game-oriented arithmetics. I need just the sound card for listening the music, with the clear sound I would like, something that is close to AWE64?sound.
Which sound cards should I pay attention on?

Dont know anymore if the AWE 64 has got SPDIF out, the AWE32 has (+ the AWE32 can get 28Mbyte of RAM, the AWE64 only 24?).
EMU0K/2 cards will have good music synthesis and very good sound. The X-FI is quite superior to this. Even if the MIDI Synth of AWE32 and AWE64 is much beeter in terms of GM compatibility, the newer cards will have better quality and support for greater soundfonts. Get a real audigy or a real X-FI card (not the se or extreme audio versions)

LOOKING FOR ICHAT UPGRADE

Hello... i just got a isight and it works great. The thing is that recieving audio come out really low and only out of the right speaker. Now i found a discussion room that said its easily fixed by doing a upgrade to your ichat but i can not find the link. HELP. I have a g4 mac osx 10.3.9. with 2.1 ichat av.
The isight if great now that i got one all my friends are following suit. This is a minor problem i'm sure. If someone know the link to this upgrade / download i would be grateful. If you have any information please help me.

The thing is that receiving audio come out really low and only out of the right speaker.
Normal. Because of the physical size of laptops, their speakers will always be fairly close to the mic. To minimize audio feedback through iSight's mic, iChat AV is designed to work as you describe on all laptops. You say you are already using the latest version of Panther's iChat AV (2.1). You do NOT need to upgrade to Tiger only because of this issue.
If the way iChat AV works on your GREAT PowerBook bothers you, or if turning up the volume until YOU find it loud enough causes feedback for your chat buddy, try head phones (or perhaps external speakers) when you want to AV chat. That is the best way I know to alleviate the problem.

SFTP and AS2 is not supported by SAP XI. But if you want to use them then you have to get it from seeburger which supports these protocols.
SFTP is Secure File Transfer Protocol and it uses SSH protocol.
AS2 is used mostly for EDI transactions.

Looking for Firmware upgrade for IPOD to play when connected to Onkyo RCVR ?

Onkyo support tells me their is a Firmware upgrade for my IPOD NANO that will allow it to play when connected to their reciever. Newer IPODS work fine. With my the Onkyo recognizes the IPOD, reacts like it is playing but does not play.

Connect it to your computer and upgrade it in iTunes.

Actually in the benchmarks we have run the 2 drive raid 0 gives you optimal performance with most codecs. The export times are slower with the media on a single drive. The risk is greater but backups are required whether you run 1 disk or 2 in a raid zero. So the failure rate is the same concern.

Which 500GB to 1TB hard drive for hdd upgrade?

My hard drive is failing on my Macbook Pro so I was going to buy a new drive, I thought I could just get any 2.5" SATA disk again but from reading through the the forum, it looks like there issues with certain drives, motion detection issues, etc. I'm confused now.
I was interested in the Seagate Momentus XT 500GB 4GB SSD Hybrid drive but I'm reading reports about that drive causing problems with Macbooks on this forum and Amazon reviews. Then there's drives where you need to actually downgrade the EFI firmware to get the system stable? Yikes, this doesn't look as simple as I thought.
BTW here's my current system now:

My external backup drives are composed of 750GB USB drives so max drive I probably won't go with the 1TB drive but I'll add it in case anyone researches this in the future.
I'm probably learning toward the Seagate Momentus 750GB right now.

Get the Samsung. The WD Scorpio Blues are more often troublesome than most other drive lines, and I've had several lousy experiences with Toshiba drives in years past. I haven't seen any negative reports about the Samsung.

Recovery Set for Z60t for HDD Upgrade

Help! I need to upgrade the hdd from the original 30gb to a new 320.
The version of Rescue and Recovery does not have an option to create recovery disks.

It belongs to a friend of mine. Original OS install from 2006 but Create Recovery Media will not start. I think the Thinkvantage software is corrupted. I have tried to install a newer version and when I attempt to uninstall the previous version, the uninstall fails.
Looks like my only option is to ghost the hidden partition to the new drive and try to recover from that point. Either that or order the disks from Lenovo.
There's nothing special about the Lenovo partitioning is there? Main partition, NTFS, hidden partition FAT32.
Anything else I should be thinking about? I have good backups of everything...

Guidance for HDD upgrade MacBook Pro 2007

Like the title says, I want to put in a heftier HDD on this computer, which has a Model ID of 3,1, 2.4GHz. Some of the choices and specs are confusing, so all knowledgable advice would be appreciated. It seems that the computer will only support up to 500GB drive, and the chip appears to be limited to 1.5 GBs connection speed, and I find no drives with less than 3GBs. I know that is generally backwards compatible, but is there any limit where it's not, at say 6GBs? And it appears to be true that this model will not support an SDD, but will it support a hybrid drive, like the ones Seagate makes?
Again, any advice and experience appreciated.

So far, all the sata drives are backwards compatible. Folks like MacWorld that keep an eye on this stuff have never given us a heads-up.

The ssd upgrade is well worththe trouble and the expense - the speed boost is quite amazing. SSD should be officially renamed Super Sonic Drive.

Buying Used iMac - What to look for?

I'm a devoted mac user. I currently own a late 2008 unibody Macbook, and have been looking for an upgrade. I came across a used iMac posting on a craigslist-like website. The configuration is a low-end mid-2011 21" iMac (quad core i5, 4gb, 500gb).
I asked the seller for the serial number and checked it out the support site. The warranty is due to run out on Thursday, just enough time for me to buy extended AppleCare. The price seems reasonable (approx $730 whereas a new iMac is $1200), and I've asked to see the iMac in person tomorrow. I wanted to know what to look for when making the final decision.
Also do you think I should hold out for an Ivy Bridge iMac (rumoured to be coming soon??) or will it not make a difference for normal coding/browsing (no photo/video editing/gaming)? One factor discouraging me is that Apple has hitched up the prices for the newly released Macbooks here in India (the base 13" pro used to be $1250, now $1530!!!).

[SOLVED] makepkg error: Why is it looking for '.part' files?

I've been seeing the following problem with every package I try to build with makepkg. The download works, but then makepkg complains that it can't find the source file:

Why is it looking for the .part file, instead of the .tgz file? When I run makepkg again, without doing anything in between, it finds the .tgz file and goes on its merry way.
I'm using curl, and I haven't tried wget. Judging by my unscientific sample of forum posts it looks like wget is the de facto standard, so this may not be on anyone else's radar.

It looks like this code is the culprit. I don't have time to dig into it right now, but presumably this works with wget. I would have thought any cmdline downloader would manage renaming the .part file itself...?

Looking for small part for HPw2207 monitor

Hello. I am looking for a small circuit board part for my HPw2207 monitor. After searching for solutions to a OSD Lockout problem, I found that pressing the Menu button for 10 seconds should stop it. However, the switch itself seemed stuck in the "on" position. So, as I am fairly adept at repairing things, I decided to open the monitor and see what the problem was. Well, I found it. After discovering how to remove the front and rear plastic bezel, down at the bottom of the monitor, where the Menu buttons are, there was a small circuit board housing and switch button assembly, that was all corroded. I removed it to look closer and what did I find?? It was CAT PEE!!! One of my wife's cat's must have sprayed the corner where these switches are, and as cat pee is very acidic, it had completely corroded the 3 pins on the circuit board connector, and froze up 3 of the 4 micro switches. So now, my only recourse to fix this is to order a new circuit board assembly. So......this is my question.
Are these parts still available, and if so, how do I order them. I do have some numbers from the circuit board itself, which is held in place with the button assembly by two small screws.
On the front side of the circuit board, there is a number, which may or may not be the complete assembly number or perhaps the circuit board number, but I'm not sure. Here it is.

I don't even need the entire assembly. Only the circuit board. I just purchased this monitor and can't afford another one.
I may be able to use the monitor withOUT the circuit board in place, if it will work. I'm going to reassemble it without it to check. But if this circuit board is available, I would sure like to get one so I have access to the Menu items. Since these monitors are still being sold(at Staples) I assume parts MUST be available, but from my experience in searching HP...well, I wouldn't doubt they arn't. But just in case...that's why I am posting this thread. Thanks for any help.
Oh...btw...the CAT is GONE now. History. Good riddance too. He pee'd on more than this monitor too. Ruined half a dozen things of mine and this was the last straw.

You might look on eBay for the part or Google the part number. HP considers monitors consumables so internal parts are not stocked.
I don't think an extended warranty will cover TCP (tom cat piss) even if you had one.
