Looking for PDF Mark Up Software

I need to do simple PDF markups.
I need to be able to “white out” certain areas of a document. Draw circles, straight lines, make arrows, and add text. Nothing too fancy.
I have been using PDFpen, however, they have acknowledged certain bugs and they have also acknowledged their inability to fix them, so I am looking for an alternative.

So as I understand it, if I want to mark up PDF documents my only choices are:  PDFpen, Adobe Acrobat, or PDFClerk?
Some of the Adobe apps like Illustrator/Indesign/Photoshop can import a PDF and then of course you can draw over it all you like with those apps' tools, which can be useful if you already own those apps. Usually with those apps it's more awkward than using Preview/Acrobat, though, since they're not native PDF editors.

  • Looking for PDF Software

I couldn't find an appropriate category for this question. I'm looking for PDF software for my Mac. Adobe Acrobat Writer is ridiculously expensive so I'm wondering if anyone else uses another PDF writer. Also wondering how old a version of Adobe Writer will run on my 2006 Intel MacBook.

A basic work around, with a few possible issues, may be to use the
Print option to 'save as pdf' so using another application and see if
this works (outside of saving a web page or other content) with a
word processing application, such as Text Edit.
There may be a way to use an older Adobe Acrobat (for OS X) in
the later version on Intel hardware, since it may be able to work
in Rosetta environment; this will consume more system resources
if it does work there. The ideal minimum system requirements are
on the retail packaging for Adobe Acrobat related products; so the
manufacturer's web page or some other information source may be
able to shed more light on these details in obsolete software.
Of course, since the Intel Mac can't run Classic/9 that limits useful
yet out of date other versions of older Acrobat or Adobe products.
There should be a support forum for Adobe acrobat and other apps
directly linked to their site online.
There may be some freeware or shareware capable of making .pdfs
from other documents, not sure how advanced they'd be. For a time
I had a few freeware utilities for working with .pdf items, to combine
and compress; and break them smaller so I could email them, some
years ago when attachments had to be smaller than in gmail.
In a google search window, you could find and screen some possible
options; I noticed (without entering mac or osx) I get some options in
a list possible pre-search topics when just entering ' make pdf ' in a
new google search box; other choices appear below my entry...
By adding the suffix ' mac os x ' to my search terms, I get proof of
concept (been using it for years) of making a pdf document from
a text editor or word processor document, by using Print options:
"How to create adobe acrobat PDF documents"
    http://clc.its.psu.edu/Labs/Mac/help/software/howtocreatepdfs.aspx
There may be a freeware utility among the download links at
VersionTracker or macupdate pages; among their other items.
Also, in Apple Support there are third party software D/L links.
In shareware applications for handling pdf content, there are
editors which allow one to edit or use pdf documents that are
blank or need words added, and correct or fill them out; or
to change content on documents you have authorization for.
This usually costs. A few may provide a limited use demo.
An example of a shareware editor tool (not free) is this one:
PDF Editor Tool - PDF Studio - edit pdf on Linux, Mac, Windows:

    Good luck & happy computing!

i just bought the revolution after having a blackberry and i'm looking for a notepad type software and a place to store passwords.

I use SafeWallet after trying most of the apps in the market place. It's a bit expensive compared to most and you have to pay for the desktop application which sucks but the other apps were some cumbersome I knew I would never use them after the initial setup.
I'll add the normal caution of storing passwords in a non-protected text file but you probably know that

  • Looking for "PDF Public-Key Digital Signature and Encryption Specification"

    Hi,
i am looking for the following ("old") document:
PDF Public-Key Digital Signature and Encryption Specification
Originally i could be found here:
    http://partners.adobe.com/asn/developer/acrosdk/DOCS/ppk_pdfspec.pdf
But not anymore. Does somebody of you still have it? Adobe today just offers the latest documents but i specifically need that older version.
Or is there an archive i don't know of?
    Thanks for your help,
    ToM

You can read the PDF 1.5 specification OR even ISO 32000-1 itself for that information. Each feature is "tagged" with the specific version in which it was introduced.
Digital Signatures were first introduced in Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) and have seen various improvements which each version since.

  • Looking for DELL Webcam Central software and the webcam software updates

My laptop is DELL XPSM1530. I read that the webcam was made by Creative Technology.
Recently, I read in DELL.com that there is a software named DELL Webcam Central.
It was said that it can improve the camera performance.
I have looked for it in DELL.com but I did not found it and I also have looked it here but I got nothing.
Where can I get it? Is it the same as Webcam Manager / Webcam Central that has been installed in my laptop here?
And if it the same, where can I have the software updates?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
You will stand a better chance getting in touch with Dell, the download site here does not offer the mentioned webcam software.

  • Looking for advice on photo software

I am a recent 'switcher'. After using a PC for almost 25 years, I recently bought an iMac and couldn't be happier with the switch.
Here's my problem: I currently have about 2,000 photos on my iMac and iPhoto has been awesome up until now for handling my photo needs. However, my family has recently gathered ALL of our old family photos and are passing them from one relative to another to copy, make prints or whatever they want to do. I plan on scanning most of them into my iMac. I realize that I'm going to have more photos than iPhoto is made to handle and I'm looking for Mac software capable of organizing these photos.
For background, I own a Canon PowerShot 75 (point-and-shoot) digital camera and usually only take pictures while on vacation or at family gatherings. I am NOT a power user in photography. I rarely edit photos. I NEVER use RAW format and probably never will. Basically, I'm just looking for Mac-capable software capable of organizing and letting me find photos out of thousands of photos. I am willing to buy whatever I need but don't know which way to go. I've looked at Aperture and don't know if it's what I need or not. Something else?

However, my family has recently gathered ALL of our old family photos and are passing them from one relative to another to copy, make prints or whatever they want to do. I plan on scanning most of them into my iMac. I realize that I'm going to have more photos than iPhoto is made to handle...
Is that more than 250,000 photos? Because that's what iPhoto's made to manage. And once you hit that you still have the possibility of additional libraries.
    All of this:
I own a Canon PowerShot 75 (point-and-shoot) digital camera and usually only take pictures while on vacation or at family gatherings. I am NOT a power user in photography. I rarely edit photos. I NEVER use RAW format and probably never will. Basically, I'm just looking for Mac-capable software capable of organizing and letting me find photos out of thousands of photos.
points me to recommend iPhoto. Aperture is geared to RAW shooters.
For a point of reference: I have 22k photos in my main library, and I can find any I need in seconds. The key is using Keywords:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums exensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 20k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
Keywording takes time to set up, there's no doubt about it. I use Keyword Manager as it's much more powerful than the inbuilt system, and adds the possibility of nested keywords. So, for instance, if I add John to a photo it also adds 'Family'. Now I can add many keywords to a pic quickly.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.
    Regards
    TD

  • Looking for Rickenbacker sound as software instrument or sample library

    Hi everybody,
does anybody here know if there is any kind of software instrument pout there or a sample library that can be used for a (demo) substitution for a Rickenbacker bass guitar sound?
You know, this incredibly and unmatched elastic and rumbly bass guitar sound that can send your stomach on a roller coaster ride...

    Hey Trey,
Are you looking for loops to create music, or pre-existing music beds? For loops, I've used bandmate loops - http://www.bandmateloops.com - most of them sound really good to me. I don't really use music beds in my projects.
If you're looking for sound effects and don't need loops, STP can work with several formats, so there are the large cd libraries if you're looking for lots of (expensive) choices, or if you just need a couple of sounds you're not finding, you could try a site like http://sounddogs.com. They have thousands of downloadable effects, and you pay based on the number and length of the effect. I've used them before, and they were really convenient. They also might have music beds available, but they most likely won't be in apple loop format.
    Hope this helps!

  • Looking for good stock chart software?

I am looking for a good stock chart software program that performs analysis and charts with real time for U.S. and Canadian stock exchanges, so far the demos I have downloaded don't show any canadian stocks and the online documentation for them don't specify.
    Any recommendations would help
    Thanks

I found that istock is probably the easiest program to run without glitches and freeze up so far. The trial version is excellent and allows plenty of options. Unless you are into watching real time intraday this program will def. do!

  • Looking for Simple Archiving Catalog Software

I  have previously used AutoCat. Simply drag and drop a folder and AutoCat copies
the folder hierarchy and makes aliases of all the files. I keep this a catalog to
be able to simply find all of my files by a search through the finder. It tells
me the archive number of the disk where I can find a particular project. Very
simple, very legant. Not supported in Lion so I'm looking for a replacement.

Touvaly serves the same function as AutoCat. But it goes too far. It makes a "vrtual copy" of a removable disk. It is so hard to tell if you've pulled up real files and folders or the fake ones! - Somebody PLEASE bring back AutoCat!

  • Quick look for pdf not working correctly in mountain lion

I'm running 10.8.2 and have this problem on several Macs. Many of my pdf files are not viewable with quick look. Only a large blank space is shown for the page when I hit the space bar once. If I hit the space bar to close the blank view and then hit the space bar again, the image of the PDF pops up as it should. Is this a known bug?

  • Looking for chemical molecule modelling software

I wasn't sure where to put this question!
First of all, I am not the chemist (I am a network engineer), I'm just trying to find a solution for a research professor. So don't assume I am familar with any current software, etc. Please give me any info you can!
Said professor is still using "Macmolecule Pro" on a Quadra 950 with System 7.
I'm looking to convert his models into something modern that runs on OS X, or at the very worst OS 9 in emulation so I can get rid of the old 950 in his office and move him to a G4 or G5.
Can anyone point me in any interesting directions?
    thanks for any help!
