Looking for recommend Java Training

I have just spent a better part of a week trying to work on a java issue.  We are running Netweaver 7.01 as our Java server to our BW systems.  These NW boxes are Java (stack) only servers.  I would like to get more up to speed on managing, debugging, monitoring, etc on the Java side of things.  I am not even sure I have the terminolgoy right!  What courses have you taken that you feel were effective?  Right now my role is DBA (Oracle) and backup R3 Admin.  As we move to a more Java rich environment I'd like to help fix things (vs bouncing the server all the time).  I feel lost in Visual Administrator.  I see to many courses that say "The course does not introduce Netweaver fundamentals and administrations." which is exactly what I feel I need.
Thanks!
Vince

I was meant to go on a combination TEP10 course recently which covers the same contents as ADM200 and EP200, but that's hard to find (and was cancelled where I did find it). If you're just looking for the Java admin basics look at this course tree: https://training.sap.com/za/en/curriculum/adm_java-sap-system-administration-as-java-general-g/.
ADM200 is almost certainly the one you want if you want the shortest (i.e. cheapest!) course focusing on just Java admin, though unfortunately I cannot yet speak from direct experience. Check out the curricula listed for yourself and don't forget to shop around the various SAP Education centres (that link is for South Africa but the curricula for the courses will be the same elsewhere as long as the version is the same). For example see this course tree from the US SAP Centre: https://training.sap.com/us/en/curriculum/ep_adm_us-portal-administration-us/. And don't forget that there are other combination courses like the TEP10 course (e.g. TADM10/TADM12) that might cover even more of what you're looking for - do some digging around to be sure of what you want.

  • Looking for recommendations on training books for PS CS3

    I'm not complete newbie to Photoshop, but I know there is so much more I could get out of it.... so I'm looking for a good tutorial book. One that isn't going to cost me an arm & a leg.
    Thanks!

    Michael,
    No book will have solutions to all problems. Even the Web will come up short sometimes. That's what this forum is about.
    I'd start with the manual, then spend some time with the Help files (F1). Yeah, the manual doesn't read like Faulkner, but it's not bad and has the solution to many, many problems. It does rely too heavily, nowadays, on "(see Help files)," but ink and paper have gotten more expensive.
    Next, as someone else suggested, "Classroom in a Book," and work through it all, even the stuff you think you'll never need. You will pick up other knowledge, as you do those exercises.
    At that point, decide what you want to do with Photoshop. That will narrow your book/training down to specific areas, like "Photoshop for Photographers," "Photoshop for Video," etc.
    If you hit a problem, that you cannot solve with the manual, F1, "CiaB," Google and a search of this forum, please post your specific question.

  • Looking for Enterprise Portal training

    I am looking for recommendations, for Portal Admin training (EP6).  We are about to upgrade from EP5 to EP6, and take on a few new projects on the new platform.  I would be interested in topics such as installation, security, deploying iviews, system configuration, user management, monitoring and tuning.
    I am NOT looking for developer training, I am in Basis and we have other developers that will write the code.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    I am new to SAP Enterprise Portal (NetWeaver) and am looking for advice on SAP courses to take.
    I am looking to start with SAPEP (SAP NetWeaver Portal Fundamentals).  Do you know of anyone that has taken this course and could you tell me if it is beneficial to take as a preview to JA100 (SAP J2SE fundamentals)?  Can I continue with the Java courses without this class, etc?
    Is SAPEP worth the costs?
    Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • New Mac user, new to Wireless - looking for recommendations on a router

    Hello all! I am new to Macs, and to wireless in general. I just bought a used Powerbook which of course has wireless capability. So my next step will be to set up a router. However, I have no experience with this, and am definitely not a computer geek at heart. So I am looking for recommendations on a router/wireless network system that seems to work well with Macs (and PC's as I now have both) and doesn't require vast amounts of computer networking knowledge to set up and get working. What works well? What should be avoided? Many thanks for your input! (Oh, if it makes any difference, my internet connection is DSL.)

    I would strongly recommend the AirPort Extreme. Its simple, doesn't do much but it does the job perfectly. It never drops out and the distance of the signal is far (you can be online in your back and front yard). And its really easy to setup. And it works with both systems. But I do recommend getting a new one instead of a used one because you'll need the newer version of AirPort Assistant to set it up because older version of Tiger doesn't have that programme pre-installed.

  • Looking for a java-based SDK that handles file conversion to PDF and TIF...

    Hi all,
    First off, this is my first posting so I'm not 100% sure where to post this topic. So please forgive me if I'm accidentally posting in the wrong location.
    My question deals with a project I am currently working on.
    I am looking for a java-based SDK that can meet the following requirements...
    1) convert all printable file-formats (i.e. JPEG, DOC, TXT, PPT, etc.) into PDF
    2) merge multiple PDFs into one PDF
    3) convert PDF to TIF or at least do some sort of conversion to TIF
    4) works in Java or some sort of web-based language
    5) free or relatively cheap
    Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

    I don't think you will get one API to do them all.
    Some helpful hints:

  • Looking for recommendations - new internal drive for MBP

    Hi all,
    I have a 17" MBP core 2 duo from a couple of years ago, with a 100GB 7200rpm drive. I want to swap out the drive with a new 500GB drive, still 7200rpm, so I'm looking for recommendations as to what people think are the current best of the crop. Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Antonio

    I was looking for a 500GB 7200RPM drive for my MBP 15" at the end of 2008, but no one made one yet. I saw the Seagate ST9500420ASG 500GB 7200RPM 16MB BUFFER SERIAL ATA listed as coming soon on MacMall and a few other places in January 2009 and ordered it as soon as it was available.
    I had done some research on power consumption and performance... Tom's Hardware had some good info on the subject. The fastest drives at the time were the 320GB 7200 RPM and 500GB 5400 RPM. If the trends I came across during my research held up, power consumption for the new Seagate shouldn't have affected my battery life too much. All my research seemed to confirm this.
    Now that I have been using the drive for a few months, I can tell you that my batter life has taken a HUGE hit. I used to easily get 5 hours with my old 120 GB stock drive... now, I'm lucky if I get 2 hours. Plus, it seems that this drive gets hot enough to cause performance issues.. I'm not sure if that's the case yet, but I will be bringing my MBP into the Apple store to check on it.
    At this point, I'm willing to sacrifice some speed for more battery life and a cooler running computer.
    All this to say, be sure you're willing to sacrifice some battery life for the biggest and fastest drive around.

    i would head over to the display section of AVSForum to read user reviews of various displays.
    With the $1300 range that you have mentioned, you should have plenty of choices for your next television.
    If it was me, I would start and end at plasma displays. I have friends and family with LCD's and Plasma's, and to my eye plasmas just look better.
    (of course, I am still using a 720p HD-DILA (Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS), which is a rear projection) from JVC circa 2005)

  • A Question and Looking for Recommendations........

    First the question: We have a dLink DI-634M wireless router that is hardwired with Cat5 cable to our 17" MBP. We also have a regular MB that we connect wirelessly. And also a Dell Inspiron that we connect wirelessly through the DI-634M. Our problem is that after periods of non-use, we lose our internet connection. It's easily restored by removing the power from the DI-634M and then plugging the power back in. But it's a pain in the butt. Any suggestions as to how to prevent this from happening?
    Looking for recommendations: I'm thinking I'd like to get another wireless router anyway. Something in the new N band or whatever it's called. But the main reason is to be able to wirelessly connect external hard drives and printers to the router. Most especially the external hard drives. We've got a little LaCie 160 gig Porsche drive that we use to backup the small MB. Right now I have to make the hard wire connection and do the backup manually. But if we had access to the hard drive wirelessly, I could schedule regular backups for the small MB. So......what wireless routers can you guys recommend? Brand? Model? Which have the least problems? Etc., etc.......
    Thanks bunches!

    Hi,
    I don't think I can offer a solution, but I do have a similar problem with my router (supplied with my Sky broadband set-up). It's a Netgear router with 4 outputs. Until a few minutes ago, it was lying on my desk horizontally, but after attaching 2 plastic legs, it now stands vertically. I'm hoping this solves the overheating, as it is left switched on constantly (which probably contributes to the fact that I too have to 're-boot' it from time to time when I lose my Broadband connection).
    Hope this helps.

  • I'd like to use the categories from my outlook contacts, i'm looking for recommended applications

    i'd like to use the categories from my outlook contacts, i'm looking for recommended applications?

    There is a third party I tried it. Didn't work for me because they wanted me to sync my contacts on their cloud. It doesn't work with USB Sync. But if you want to try it here:

    Best would be if Apple adds the feature and supports the categories!!!

  • Looking for Forms 10g Training

    Looking for Forms 9/10g accelerated training. Preferably somewhere in New York City area. Have looked at Oracle's own classes already. Also, interested in web-based class, if you can recommend something good.
    Thank you.

    Grant,
    Thank you for the two links you provided, but they refer to book/video material on Forms 6i, while my question is about Forms 10g. I have actually read that book and found it very helpful as a starter (for version 6i). I'd like to read something that goes deeper into Form's internals - for example, something that clearly explains Forms internal navigation process (and its interaction with user's navigation). Perhaps there is a good white paper on the topic, don't know.
    As far as Forms Docs, again I can only wish it was written the way Oracle db docs were written - you can find a chapter devoted to your general topic. Forms 6i Doc are rediculous. Information is provided in small poorly connected bytes. Frequently it is presented in a form of bare-bone reference, with little effort to explain the processes. I am only starting to use 9i/10g docs. There seems to be an improvement, information is more complete. Still, it is a helper, not a studying material. Frequently for in-depth look you are referred to a diagram, which I'm not smart enough to understand without additional explanation.
    If you know of some good in-depth material regarding forms internal navigation process, I would really appreciate it. I have to say that this forum is great in terms of helping out developers.
    Thanks.

  • Looking for recommendations - iCal substitution (different calendar or task manager app)

    Hello everyone,
    for some time I'm looking for iCal substitution/replacement. I'm looking for a multiplatform solution (idealy OS X / iOS / Win). I'm a head of small team (5 subordinates) and iCal no longer suits me.
    I'm looking for a task manager or different calendar application where I would be able to manage all the tasks my team has. So far I have found application Wunderlist, which is very close to what I want (basic version is free, it works on OS X / iOS / Win and synces through their servers) but it misses some crucial options (monthly view for example).
    Also I do not want to and will not use any Google service.
    Thanks for any recommendations!

    I've been very happy with 1Password, though I haven't used the iPhone component (not having an iPhone).

  • Looking for a Java Parser

    Hi,
    I'm working on a Web Service Project, and i'm trying to deploy Web Services dynamically. Now the problem is, that i have to adapt the Java src-files sometimes before the deployment (Like adding Annotations, Methods or just peaces of code into a Method. So what i'm looking for is some Sort of a Java Parser, that gives me information on where to insert the code i generated.
    Simple example:
    public class WSExample{
         public void doSomething(){
              //do something
    //this class should be changed to something like this:
    public class WSExample{
         @WebMethod       //Annotation added
         public void doSomething(){
              //do something
            //this Method is generated automatically
            @WebMethod
            public void doSomethingDifferent{
                   //like establishing a connection to a different WS
    }All i've found up to now are parser generators like antlr or javacc. But i couldn't find anything about how to use the generated parsers or even manipulate the parsed code, yet. I hope i don't have to write a parser or grammar myself. Maybe someone can link me to some useful tutorial, forum or whatever else might be helpful.

    If you are using Sun's Java 1.4, you already have one. If you are using an ealier version, here are a couple of links:
    Xerces is probably the most feature rich:
    http://xml.apache.org/xerces2-j/index.html
    GNU JAXP is also good and very small:
