Hello,
I could not find any code on either NI's Development Zone or on www.ni.com/idnet (where we store drivers for 3rd party hardware).  I did find two drivers for humidity sensors from Sensirion.  I've attached the link below.  While we do not currently have any code written, there are resources available to help you create your own driver.  First you will need the manual on the ASL 1600-20.  I searched Sensirion's site, but only found the second link below.  You may want to contact Sensirion and see if they have any documentation on how to communicate with their flow meter using the serial protocol.  We also have some tools available for you at the last link.  At the bottom of the page of the third document below, there is a tab for "Learn to Build Instrument Drivers".  Here we have many links to videos and article to assist you.  Good luck!

  • Looking for a way to create a liquid stream?

I am trying to make it look like there is a liquid move through a bunch of pipes but am having trouble finding a way to make it move on a path maybe?  I thought i have seen something about a motion path but I'm not sure that's what I'm trying to do.  Is there an effect that I could use or a way to move an effect along a specific path to make this illusion?
    Thanks.

Foam is intended to use greyscale images. Alpha map is just another term for it. Bogiesan and the rest of us are all talking about the same thing.
There is actually quite a bit of information here. You should read up on it. It should explain a lot.

Foam is a pretty good tool for creating blood flow through tubes if you're wanting to see the individual blood cells.
There are several ways to make the shape.
One would be to use Vegas on a mask and set the number to 1 and set the mid point opacity to half and the color to white or black.
Another would be to create a black to white gradient ramp and use the Puppet Tool on it.

  • Foreach Loop Container with a Data Flow Task looking for file from Connection Manager

So I have a Data Flow Task within a Foreach Loop Container. The Foreach Loop Container has a Variable Mapping of User:FileName to pass to the Data Flow Task.
The Data Flow Task has a Flat File Source since we're looking to process .csv Files. And the Flat File Source has a Flat File Connection Manager where I specified the File name when I created it. I thought you needed to do this even though it won't really
use it since it should be getting its File name from the Foreach Loop Container. But when attempting to execute, it is blowing up because it seems to be looking for my test file name that I indicated in the Flat File Connection Manager rather than the file
it should be trying to process in User:FileName from the Foreach Loop Container.
What am I doing wrong here??? I thought you needed to indicate a File name within the Flat File Connection Manager even though it really won't be using it.
Thanks for your review...I hope I've been clear...and am hopeful for a reply.

  • Looking for best way to filter status or meter data from differently formatted text.

With the product we design we are able to communicate via RS-232 ports. What I'm trying to do is filter out the data that is given by multiple differnt types of products that will give similar data back, but in a differnt format. Such that in a status command I'm looking for everything to be in a non failed state. But some items will show warning, failure, #.##w(for warning), or #.##f (for fail). But the format of each product is different. Also for a meter command I'm looking for a way to filter out just the numeric value for each phase amplitude, but once again the format will be different for each product. I have been able to pull this data out easy enough for an individual product but not on a wide product range with the same VI.

  • I'm looking for a .vi for sound pressure level meter (SPL)

    Hi....
I'm looking for help regarding the implementation of a SPL (sound pressure level)meter using LabVIEW.....If anyone has a vi or diagram or know how to proceed with this project please tell me about it...
According to the project , I need a microfone and my laptop with LabVIEW to make the vi.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Here's an example program:
This VI simulates the functionality of a Radio Shack Analog Sound Pressure Level (SPL) Meter. This VI requires a data acquisition board, Radio Shack SPL Meter and an RCA cable. Connect one end of the RCA cable to the SPL Meter's output, and then splice off the other end and connect it to channel 0 of the DAQ board. The connection to the DAQ board must be made differentially.
The output of the SPL meter is a raw waveform that is converted by the program into a decibel (dB) reading. The front panel shows a dB offset based on a range, just like the actual SPL meter. The front panel also displays the overall dB reading.

  • Looking for a solution to a 50 meter problem

Ultimately my issue comes down to wanting to connect a small security building to the rest of my network. The building is roughly 50 meters from my main facility. There are no building or anything in my way so there is nothing I can run a cable along to hide it. I do not want to run a cable underground to my facility because it is too costly.
What I'm really looking for is something like an encrypted point to point signal sender/receiver. The devices I am trying to connect to my internal network are wired only devices. So I would like to find something that sends a radio signal (any type) and allows for a switch to be connected on the other end. This should integrate into my current Cisco network.
WiFi could work, my only problem is others trying to spoof into my network so I would prefer a different radio type.
Anybody know any devices that would fit this description?

So i set up 2 residential grade routers to test this out. Seems to be working okayish. I believe with directional antenae routers I should achieve what I need.
As for security I configured each device separately. I set them so only allow the MAC address of the other through wireless. This seems to be the best system for me. Once they are connected even if a MAC is spoofed of the other router it drops automatically because they are always connected. My wired devices get plugged in and recieve an IP from my main network.
There more testing to be done, but it seems to be working.
Thanks for your input and suggestions guys. I will be marking this topic as answered.

  • Looking for 12v car charger with AUX

When my 1st Gen Touch met an untimely end, I bought a 2nd Gen, only to find that my Belkin auto adapter with AUX adapter wouldn't charge the new Touch.
Any suggestions for alternatives? I'd seem some less than favorable reviews on the Apple Store site for the Kensington Liquid Aux.
    What I'm looking for:
    1) 12v adapter with AUX adapter.
    2) no mounting arms, as in the DLO TransDock Direct or Griffin Tuneflex Aux. Unfortunately, my car's AUX input (and the 12V adapter I'd use) is in the center console, under the armrest. Anything with a thick arm won't let the armrest close--and something like the TransDock Direct won't even fit inside.
    3) I'd like to avoid, if I can, anything with controls on the 12v adapter--again, it's inside the console, and I won't be able to access it.

  • Turbine flow meter conversion

    Hi,
Apologies for the query but this software is all new to me . I have a 9188 cDaq 8 way chassis containing several modules including 2 off 9401 counter modules, I am running signal express version 6.0.0.
My issue is I have 3 miniature turbine flow meters (Gems units FT-110 series) which are giving out 5V square waves at varying pulse widths dependant upon what the flow is.  I've scoped the input to my 9401 and the signals look good so am assuming it's my signal express configuring that is causing the problem,
I've wired the +ve and gnd outputs of the flowmeters to DIO0 +Com, DIO1 + Com and DIO3 + Com on one of my 9401 cards.
I can see the pulse count increment on measurement & automation explorer when I run the test panel for that module and look at the edge counts so my system can see the pulse trains coming in.
When configuring signal express I need this to read in l/min, 58-575Hz should equate to 0.5-5 l/min, however I cannot seem to convert the pulses to l/min.
If I select DAQmx acquire>counter input>frequency it gives me the option of custom scaling but every time I run it I get the DAQ assistant error flagging up.  I tried numerous timing settings with no luck.  The only time I've got this to count succesfully is using counter input>edge count but I'm stuck on how to convert this into l/min as there is no scaling function (that I'm aware of!)
    Any help appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think he's referring to l/min as Liters per minute, and i'm assuming the Freq to Flow are the values that corrolate to the scaling.
If that's the case; Carl, it sounds to me you need to setup a custom scale. You can do this in the Channel Settings tab in the DAQmxAcquire step. Under custom scaling select Create New and select Map Range Scale. You min/max Freq should equal your min/max flow rate.
I've attached some screenshots for reference.
Let us know if we're on the right track, otherwise we may need more info; I.E. .seproj file and a bit more info on the flow meter (connection type, output signal, etc).
Also, a brief glance at the documentation on that flow meter recommends the use of a pull-up resistor. May want to look at that as well.

  • Positive displacement flow meter

I have a spur gear positive displacement flow meter and a sensor which counts the number of impulses (square-waves). 1800 impulses indicate  1 gallon. How can I measure the volumetric flow rate in Gallon per second? What I plan to do is to count the number of impulses in 0.01s and times as N, and then times 1 gallon/1800 to get the volume, and then divide the product by 0.01. What if the square wave is not complete when the 0.01s period is not complete.

Also, look in the example finder.  Something like the Trigger Counter example might give you some ideas.
I know how to use the Basic level Trigger detection now, and I am trying to counter the number of rising edges. I am intend to use a cases struture to do it. When the trigger detection is true, then do the loop. The problem is how to memorize the value of last time. I also looked at an example file from the forum. But that one makes me confused.

    Hey,
Can someone help me... I need to hook up a Coriolis Flow Meter with the Transmitter IFT9701 to the NI-DAQ - FP1000 but I can't find the wiring diagram.
There are just three wires coming out of the transmitter (red, black and plain) and gives an output of 19.8 volts on a multimeter.
Also, If you have any VIs or know where they are to find the flow rate measured my the flow meter, kindly send me the link or the file to [email protected]
    Thanks in advance!!

-- What does "plain" mean - do you mean uninsulated?
If so, I would guess a 4-20 mA output.
and gives an output of 19.8 volts on a multimeter.
That's meaningless unless you tell us if and how it's powered, and what resistor you used to measure.
Did you look up the specs?
It is indeed a 4-20 mA output.

  • Flow Meter VI - Pulse Count - Help Needed

    Hi,
I am working on developing a Flow Meter VI, I am using a flow meter with a pelton wheen that outputs a stream of pulses in proportion to flow.
The flow meter output is attached to the counter line of my 6501, and the pulse count is multiplied by 1.41 (per datasheet) to give ml.
I have the attached VI but not sure exactly what it is doing, would someone mind explaining how it works and how it could be optimised, thanks.

    Flow Meter.vi ‏52 KB

    Hi Ger,
Looking at the VI it seems to be just acquiring some data off of your 6501 card, and just edge counting the number of pulses received and then processing the data to give the result of flow. It seems fairly simple in terms of what it is doing, but there are a few optimisations I can reccomend to you. In your VI there is an unused shift register in the first for loop which I would reccomend removing as it doesn't seem to be strictly necessary. In the second for loop, there is an uninitialised shift register, and I would reccomend that you initialise that with a suitable value unless you specifically need it, as otherwise it will just use the default value of the data type, which in this case is 0.
Another optimisation you could use is replacing the DAQ assistant with DAQmx functionality however considering how simple this code is currently, the DAQ Assistant should not cause a problem, however if you wish to expand it in the future I would reccomend looking into using the lower level DAQmx VI's.

  • Pulse input from flow meter?

I have a basic multifunction PCI 6013 card. I would like to read in the pulse input from a flow meter (around 20 pulses/sec) and convert it to volumetric flow rate. I've scoured the example vi's and forums to no avail. There are counters on the board so I believe this is possible. I'd only need to read data for a short duration because only average flow rate is needed. Thanks for any help.

    You were close.
Look for the examples on gated pulse counting.
Try "count time easy.VI" (check your board spec's to amke sure your example fits your hardware).
