Hello Everyone,
Been a bit of a lurker for awhile now, and decided to finally join the boards. I've recently re-done my company website using iWeb, and was looking for some critique. It is hosted on the .Mac servers, but is forwarded with my own domain name.

Also, your page names contain "%20"s, e.g.

This can cause problems, particularly if you add a Slideshow to your site; as iWeb's Help viewer states:
Browsers convert spaces in site names to "%20." To avoid these symbols, use an underscore, hyphen, or some other character instead of a space. Also avoid non-Roman characters; many get converted to numbers when you publish.
Other characters aren't recommended for use in website names, including: forward and backward slashes (/ \), brackets ([ ]), tilde (~), exclamation point , question mark (?), "at" sign (@), number sign (#), dollar sign ($), ampersand (&), asterisk (*), colon (:), equal sign (=), comma (,), and double quotation marks ("). Using these characters may result in names with strange numbers in them.

hey forum people,
i'm looking for an extension that will automatically clean up
a website folder by clearing out unused and orphaned images and
files. i have a fairly large site that i manage that changes
dynamically by the day for a web-based company, therefore many
files an images are no longer used.
does anyone know an extension that can help with site
clean-up?

You can try the Link Checker built into Dreamweaver. In the
Results Panel, switch to the link checker tab. In the Show Menu
select Oprhaned Files, then hit the green Play arrow. You'll want
to make sure you have all your site files locally since it only
checks the files on your disk, not on your server.

Looking for user critique of Zen Ne

Hello everyone,
I'm considering purchasing a Zen Neeon, and I want the real user critique, not the perfect description the company feeds you. I know that some of Creative's products (like the Zen Micro) have a boatload of issues, and I want to make sure the Neeon isn't one of them before I buy it. So questions I would like addressed:
. Are there any major issues that plague this product? Freezing, headphone jack problems, hard dri've, OS compatibility and music/data transfer, etc.
2. How is the battery life? I know it's not going to be the marvelous 8 hours the site says (64kbps is practically unlistenable) but I will I get decent battery life if my stuff is 28-256 kbps?
3. Is this thing pretty durable? I don't want a product that'll shatter the first time I bump it or something.
4. Do the features work pretty well? I want an MP3 player with FM Radio and Voice Recorder, and I want to make sure these features work properly.
5. Is the audio quality pretty good? I know 90db isn't pristine audio, but I want to make sure it sounds relati'vely good before I buy.

I have had the mp3 player for... a bit now, <2 months though.
Living in UK, i had it shipped from Singapore. Took like 3 weeks (couriers fault), but came in one piece.
It arri'ved fully charged (great), and with everything it needed...
Prepare yourself for its size.
If the iPod Nano is Impossibly Small, this is very Improbably Small..
I have no scratches or anything on it yet.
The back is good, no greasy prints, but the front is liable to them. however, keep it in a pouch, its all good.
Main problems : Turn on Time.
Seriously, i am praying for a firmware upgrade to better this, but it is its main drawback.
The other main fault is navigation. The thumbwheel is easy enough to get used to, but you have to sort all your folders yourself, i just went for A, B, C.... etc, with subfolders containing maybe 20ish songs each. (as more than that may be hard to scroll through)..
The firmware doesnt like it if you have too many subfolders deep, such as F:/A/Artist/Album/Song.mp3 It wont read past /Artist/
So, put song.mp3 into the /Artist/ folder...
Its a pain... Again, hopefully Firmware upgrade can fix it.
I havent used it enough to tell you about the batterylife...
Its almost always on charge, on my pc....
Again, no scratches or anything, only thing to worry about is Greasy fingerprints!
the radio is a bit touch and go, but maybe as my house is granite.
The SNR is actually quoted as 98dB, which is the highest i have EVER seen for an mp3 player, definately better than any Apple product i have seen.
Even the Audigy soundcard series (best consumer sound in the world) has a peak SNR of 04dB.
My tracks are all 28kb/s, to fit most on that i can. With stock headphones, the quality is very listenable. Obviously, at 28 i have reduced quality a lot, but unless your a serious audiophile, you wont have any problems.
If you have the time to make playlists and appropriate folders, as well as wait for it to boot, then it is a definate buy.
The cost from Singapore for 5GB model was roughly ?00, which is about ?40 cheaper than any mp3 player of a similar size/quality.
I'd recommend it to everyone.

Now, I know it's not always easy accepting peoples feedback
but the thing you must remember is that there must be a reason for
saying it - it's also a lot to personal preference.
Personaly, I wouldn't use the grey, stick with bold colors,
for example, black or white. The menu doesn't really go with any
other colors on the page - try to stick with different shades of
the same color or perhaps similar colors. One thing which I really
am not very convinced with is the gradients in the menu (when
open), they make it look very amaturish. Also, try to combine the
three images at the top of the page.
I'd be more than willing to help you in whatever way (graphic
editing, etc).

How to disable checking for sites security certificates

I work in a company which manipulates its server in a way to make all unwanted sites look like not having a valid certificate so when I try to open them like gmail site I get a message that this site doesnt have a valid certificate and firefox - or any other browser- dont open the site. The question is: how to disable this feature in firefox to stop looking for sites certificates or doesnt care about them?

Exporting a root certificate in another browser would only be helpful if it did work in that browser.
If it happens in other browsers as well then it would be of any help.
I'm not seeing the button to add an exception as that would allow to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Manager.
Is that specific page opened in an (i)frame?
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".

Can't access to several sites because when I click a link, or I insert login and password and clickto enter, it just open a new tab, either blank or the same as the previous. i.e., can't save my changes on FB, can't look for a location on googlemaps, etc.

I changed in about:config "network.protocol-handler.expose-all" setting it to "false" to allow me to use Sopcast player (which I added on "network.protocol-handler.app.sop"). But after that, every time I have to, i.e., look for a location on Googlemaps, when I entered it it just open a new tab with the same page I was in; every time I click on a link it doesn't redirect me, it open a new page; I can't save changes on Facebook because when I click on "save changes" it just open another FB home page in a new tab; same problem with opening my bank account, etc. Even here, I could not get in when I tried to login. Now I put back "true" on "network.protocol-handler.expose-all", but, of course, Sopcast doesn't work anymore. What can I do? I'm using Firefox 6.0.2 on Ubuntu 11.04. The Trubleshooting informations I attached here are those that gave me the problem, before I made the aforementioned changing going back to "true". Thank you

I think I may have found the problem. It's embarrassing to find it minutes after posting the message yet I tried to solve it off and on for three days! My brother who is a 20 year Mac user has been trying to help me too. I guess it's true what they say... sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. LOL
I turned off the parental controls. What I don't understand is that the no website restrictions box was checked. To me this means I should be able to go to any site I wanted. Can anyone explain why I couldn't got to a HTTPS page on a parental controlled account even though there were no restrictions placed on it?
It's late and I need sleep. I'll leave this open for now until I have more time to test it.

Your first statement explains the second statement. To use the German iTunes Store, you need to prove that you're a resident of Germany (that is required by the content owners who will not allow cross-border sales) and the only way Apple can provide such a verification is by requiring that you enter in either a German credit card or a German-purchased iTunes prepaid card. Since I presume the former is not a possibility, you'll need to do the latter if you wish to purchase content from the iTunes Store. Again, this is not Apple's choice but is forced on them by the content owners as a requirement for Apple being allowed to sell the content. The EU is working on regulations that would force the content owners to allow access pan-EU, but that's still in the works.
You do not need an iTunes Store account to activate and run your iPad, though; at least, I didn't need one for either of my two iPads. If you only want to set up an account so you can get free iPad apps, take a look here:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is apparently critical. This seems to come and go, or only apply to App Stores in specific countries, so you may not see the option for "None" when asked for a payment type.

Looking for a site that shows problems with windows patches or updates...so I know what not to install.
Plenty of sites list and summarize individual patches, I want one that consolidates problems and complaints so I can better assess the risk. Currently I'm waiting to install patches several days and doing google searches. That works, but I'd rather find a place
that does it with expertise.
Which forums would be best to look for such problems.

No. Not for PDF viewing. Most people will view PDFs either through an Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat web browser plug-in or via web browsers that have built in PDF viewers such as Google Chrome.
What you're seeing on sites like the web site link you posted is a conversion of the PDF to another format in a "flip book" layout, a format that doesn't require the site visitor to install any plug-ins. The flip book would either be in Flash format for desktop computer browsers or HTML5 for both web browser and mobile device compatibility.

It's a free PDF to HTML5 flip book creator. They even have a Wordpress plug-in. But I'm not sure how friendly its code would be to a Muse-based web site.

This would be so easy to do yourself and this is exactly what iWeb was designed for - ease of use for novices to get a web site up and running in a short amount of time.
If you want to get it finalised in 3 months time, then I would suggest that rather that paying someone to do it for you that you could be learning how to do it yourself.
Also, I see that you have Yahoo hosting and want to publish a commercial site to MobileMe. Do not do this. If you create a site with a shopping cart etc. which it is possible to do with iWeb, then upload directly to your Yahoo hosting account - iWeb is not meant for sites like these and the loading time is not good - Yahoo would be better.

Looking for 2 Product Solutions for eCommerce site created in Muse and published to BC

Seeking suggestions for 2 separate BC eCommerce website product applications: I have within BC so far about 200 image in the in a folder in the "File Manager" -AND- each image has been optimized as a low-res digital image down-load product (divided among 20 catalogs).
#1. Image downloads not for individual purchase but as (a bundle of 6 for one price) and (a bundle of 13 for second price) only.
I'm trying to customize two BC products a 6 Pack & 13 Pack of digital image downloads. Normally in BC, a visitor could purchase a single image as a downloadable product and after successful check-out they would receive an email containing the download links. I need to disable single unit purchases and enable the customer to ONLY select 6 images for one price -or- select 13 images for one price. After successful check-out they would receive links for either 6 download files or 13 based on their purchase. They could also purchase multiple pack sets.
#2. Allow the site visitor to select 12 images (from 200 images among 20 catalogs) for a 12 month custom calendar which would be printed and shipped. The BC product here would be a 12 month custom calendar. I have a product listed in BC as a "12-Month Custom Calender" and a display page titled the same. I have been looking into a drag n drop system that would allow the visitor to: purchase the product > select 12 images > submit their select by email to site admin.
I have limited coding skill and I should mention that I originally created and continue to add-on to the site with Adobe Muse. Because I chose to use Muse, I have been looking for solutions that I can embed in Muse pages as "Objects" as Muse will over-write BC custom elements as it is over-written. I have looked at either using a 12 field drag n drop which might work but I can't determine how to make the 20 catalogs available on the same page to select from.
Can ANYONE offer suggestions?

Sorry but in no way will you get that to work using Muse.
You need to custom trigger the core functionality BC fires to add to cart in the system as well as update the visuals etc, and also overcome some of the BC scripting and what that does and function overrides etc. You need a high end front end developer at the least to be able to help you, and not using Muse.

In addition to technical hurdles to make it easier to use Kuler, I'm looking for feedback on the color palette I'm considering.
I'm not sure if this forum is purely for technical trouble/help, or if it's intended to provide design help/feedback as well. The site is barely up and running, no content as of yet other than a few sentences and image so it's not blank and doesn't have the stock page. Considering the nature of the site, I'm thinking of using the following color palette since it's about web storefronts/e-commerce. Green seems to be the primary color since we're talking about money/commerce.
Any feedback on this color choice: Adobe Kuler ?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
