Looking for small-scale LabVIEW projects to gain experience (CLAD, BSEE, BSBA)

I have a full-time job but am looking for opportunities to gain more LabVIEW experience through any freelance opportunities out there. I have just started exploring the FPGA and Real-Time Modules. My educational background is as follows:
Michigan Technological University
Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering (2012)
Certificate in Electric Power Engineering (2012
Michigan Technological University
Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (2009)
Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) (2011)
Engineer in Training (EIT) (2012)
My focus in engineering is classical, modern, and digital control systems and electric power engineering. I am familiar with control design in Matlab/Simulink and would like to translate this to LabVIEW.
Because if my relatively little experience, my rates are very reasonable. Feel free to contact me at any tome with any questions you may have.

  • How do you look for small projects?

Hi. I'm working as a labview developer and I'm looking for small
projects that can help me financially. Are there any site where I can
find some work that involves labview programming? I'd like to work as
a consultant for those projects and they can be as small as $100 or
    so...
Any of you who's looking for a labview consultant is also welcome to
    give me any work.
    Thanks for reading.

  • SpaceX is looking for engineers with LabVIEW experience in Hawthorne CA (LA area)

SpaceX is looking for engineers with LabVIEW programming experience for our Launch group. Our responsibilities include:
Controlling launch pad equipment via PXI/LabVIEW
Commanding and monitoring our Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 rockets via a LabVIEW-based Vehicle control system
Commanding and monitoring our Dragon capsules via a LabVIEW-based Mission Operation system
Ocean recovery of Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 stages after liftoff and Dragon capsules after splashdown
Cargo configuration of Dragon capsules going to resupply the International Space Station
Maintenance of Mission Control Centers with the help of our IT department
With the exception of the launch pad equipment program, most of our LabVIEW programs do not interact with DAQ hardware (unusual, I know). The Vehicle control and Mission Operations software get their data via Ethernet from 'black boxes' that connect to NASA & Commercial RF ground stations. We also create several utility programs in LabVIEW that also don't interact with hardware. So, this is mostly a software gig, not a hardware/software gig.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualities:
    CLD-level LabVIEW experience
A good understanding of basic computer networking (TCP/IP, UPD, firewalls, VPN)
Must be enthusiastic about space (What year did we land on the moon? How many men walked on the moon? How many Space Shuttles do we currently have? etc.)
Must be willing to travel. Common destinations include Houston (NASA Johnson Space Center), McGregor TX (test site), Cape Canaveral FL (launch site), Kwajalein Marshall Islands (launch site)
Must be able to work without supervision. We have a very flat management structure, no one will be telling you what you need to do. If you don’t know, ask. If you do know, get it done.
    About the job:
Job is located in Hawthorne, CA in the Los Angeles area.
This is not a 9-5 job. There will be some late nights.
You won't be LabVIEW only. Everyone chips in as needed. Our group has done Javascript, C++, MATLAB, configuring of TELEX comm systems, cutting of metal with bandsaws, welding, Unigraphics CAD, etc. If we need it and you don't know it, grab a book and learn.
We are only hiring full time employees. Contractors need not apply.
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, SpaceX hires only U.S. citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents.
Apply at SpaceX.com. Click the Careers button and fill out the general application. Mention this posting in the cover letter field. Don’t reply to this forum. You need to go to SpaceX.com to get your information into our system.

  • I am looking for Modal Analysis Labview VI lib or example?

I am looking for Modal Analysis Labview VI lib? specifically, I conducted Frequency Response Measurements, I managed to construct the experimental frequency response function. Now, I am looking for modal extraction from the experimentally determined frequency response function.
I appreciate if someone knows about Labview VI or example to perform the curve fitting in the frequency domain to extract the modal parameters.
    Thank you in advance.

    Atef,
I found the following paragraph in the on-line description of the Advanced Signal Processing Toolset for LabVIEW:
    <>
"You can also construct your own custom applications in LabVIEW with a VI library of the most efficient and common algorithms such as covariance, principle component auto-regression (PCAR), Prony's method, and the matrix-pencil method. Some of these methods have not been commercially available before the release of this toolset. Using these VIs, you can perform both super-resolution analysis and modal-analysis. Moreover, VIs provided can easily be tailored for many other signal analysis applications, such as system identification and linear prediction."
It seems as if this set of tools might
    help you with your application.
I hope this suggestion gets you pointed in the right direction. Have a pleasant weekend.

  • Looking for information using labview and measuing Hydrogen\Oxygen duing Electrolysis tia sal2

    Greetings All
I'm looking for any information on how to setup labview 7.1 to measure Hydrogen/Oxygen during electrolysis.  Can someone send us information on what equipment we would need.
PS we don't have deep pockets we currently have labview 7.1 and we are testing with a usb 6008 currently.
    Thanks

    Hi sal2-
In order to measure concentrations of these elements during processing you will first need to select an appropriate transducer.  Perhaps another user with more experience in electrolysis processing can suggest the external hardware.
Once your transducer is properly configured you will just need to read the signals into your USB-6008 as voltage signals and scale them in software.  A great example of this is found in the NI Example Finder for LabVIEW (Help>>Find Examples) by browsing to Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx>>Analog Measurements>>Voltage>>Cont Acq & Graph Voltage-IntClk.

  • Looking for small part for HPw2207 monitor

Hello. I am looking for a small circuit board part for my HPw2207 monitor. After searching for solutions to a OSD Lockout problem,  I found that pressing the Menu button for 10 seconds should stop it. However, the switch itself seemed stuck in the "on" position. So, as I am fairly adept at repairing things, I decided to open the monitor and see what the problem was. Well, I found it. After discovering how to remove the front and rear plastic bezel, down at the bottom of the monitor, where the Menu buttons are, there was a small circuit board housing and switch button assembly, that was all corroded. I removed it to look closer and what did I find?? It was CAT PEE!!!  One of my wife's cat's must have sprayed the corner where these switches are, and as cat pee is very acidic, it had completely corroded the 3  pins on the circuit board connector, and froze up 3 of the 4 micro switches.  So now, my only recourse to fix this is to order a new circuit board assembly. So......this is my question.
Are these parts still available, and if so, how do I order them.   I do have some numbers from the circuit board itself, which is held in place with the button assembly by two small screws.
On the front side of the circuit board, there is a number, which may or may not be the complete assembly number or perhaps the circuit board number, but I'm not sure. Here it is.
    7900771500000R
On the back side of the circuit board(green side) there was this number.
    490481500600
I don't even need the entire assembly. Only the circuit board.  I just purchased this monitor and can't afford another one.
I may be able to use the monitor withOUT the circuit board in place, if it will work. I'm going to reassemble it without it to check. But if this circuit board is available, I would sure like to get one so I have access to the Menu items.  Since these monitors are still being sold(at Staples) I assume parts MUST be available, but from my experience in searching HP...well, I wouldn't doubt they arn't. But just in case...that's why I am posting this thread.  Thanks for any help.
Oh...btw...the CAT is GONE now. History. Good riddance too. He pee'd on more than this monitor too. Ruined half a dozen things of mine and this was the last straw.
    Thanks
    Rick
    This question was solved.

    Hi Rick,
You might look on eBay for the part or Google the part number. HP considers monitors consumables so internal parts are not stocked.
I don't think an extended warranty will cover TCP (tom cat piss) even if you had one.

  • Where Used for VIs and LabVIEW Project

Is there a way in LabVIEW Project Manager to check the Where Used status on all the VIs at the same time? I am going through a project trying to weed out VIs that are not used in the project. I know I can check the "Find Callers" for each VI, but this feels slow and cumbersome. Is there a way I can generate a report to find the Where Used status on all VIs in a project?

  • Anyone looking for a quick paid project (Read on for Details)

I am a noob to iPhone programming, and am having a hard time making some changes to the TableSearch sample code that Apple provides.
Here is what I am looking for. If anyone is interested in taking up the project, please let me know
    1) On launch, I would like the tableview to populate itself from the contents of a file at a web URL.
    2) When the user selects an item from the list, the program should open a URL associated with that item (the URLs and items would both be loaded from the file mentioned in #1.)
I am flexible on how the source file is formatted. .CSV would be fine.
This is for a free program I am trying to pull together, so my budget isn't big. Nonetheless, it would save me a bunch of time, so I am happy to pay someone to help out.
Any advice or offers to help would be appreciated.

  • LabVIEW done right: Requesting advice for a large LabVIEW project

    Hello Everyone,
I have been coding LabVIEW for about 2 years now, off and on as my company requires it, and although my coding abilities and neatness have improved greatly since I first started I still end up with large, messy looking programs.
I have a great understanding of SubVIs and use them regularly and often. I am also familiar with the various code structures such as a producer/consumer or state machine. But I keep finding that too much of my main code is interdependent on common variables, indexes, and values that it seems impossible to simplify any of them into subVIs because I would need like 10+ inputs or a custom cluster for each one. This seems counter productive and time consuming.
I have searched far and wide for good programming technique for larger labview programs and I have only been able to find the most basic advice such as "Use subVIs" or "Use a state machine" and all the examples I can find are laughably simple.
I can reduce my program to 3 while loops. One captures Events and gives commands on a queue, another takes those queued items and performs actions, and the third performs data gathering, plotting, and saving once each second. This starts out good, but by the time I've incrementally added all the features my company requires, each loop is a huge interconnected mess of wires with no clear way to section them up into subVIs.
A solution would be to make everything either a global variable or FG but as a native C programmer I was always taught to avoid globals. And if I went the FG route I would need somewhere around 100+ different VIs just to handle them all.
Is there something I'm missing? I want to know how you pass data between the various loops of your program. Do you use one big cluster? Globals? FGs? None of these options seem ideal to me but maybe I'm missing something obvious.
If anyone has any advice for me, it would be well appreciated. Better yet, if anyone has, or could point me to, an example program exhibiting an ideal programming structure for a project similar to the one I mentioned above, I would love to take some time to look it over. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some good tips and tricks for keeping my main VI to one screen size, and effectively passing all the required data to all the subVIs that require it.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Aaron

Do you try to identify related information that can be used by a whole set of related subVI's?  For example, you might have several parameters related to a specific piece of hardware.  These can be grouped into a typedef cluster (or, even better, an object with all the related subVIs part of the object class).  You definitely don't want to be using custom cluster for each subVI, but well designed subVI's shouldn't have more than a few custom inputs once related information is grouped.
As for data in the loops, I usually just have one big cluster in a shift register.  This is never itself sent into a subVI, but parts of it (the typedef clusters or objects from above) are unbundled and sent into subVI's.  It's basically just serves as a cleaner way of holding all the parameters.  I'll attach an image of a "state" of the program I'm now working on.  There are only a few wires unbundled in each individual "state", even though the full cluster (the top shift register in the image) has 20-odd components (and some of them are subclusters/objects that themselves have many components, such as the "Selected Record" object in the image which itself is a 15 element cluster).
BTW, I'm using the "JKI state machine toolkit" which you might want to look at to get some ideas.

  • Looking for small ext.Mic for iPhone 4! Purpose: Liverecording ex.Sony ECM DS30P?

I need a small electret condenser mic that gets enough power from the jackinput on my iPhone 4! for live recording of concerts etc. I heard that the Dony ECM DS30P DOES NOT WORK.?
Also suitable software for recording. Aka. Field Recorder/Blue or similar!
The built in mic on iphone is way to bright..

I recently purchased an EX-10 and my iPhone randomly. Sometimes it'll stay connected for 10+ minutes, but usually it'll disconnect after 10 - 20 seconds. I'm assuming it's the iPhone because I tried a RAZR for a full day and it never had that problem.
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

  • ASM use for small scale datawarehouse ?

    Hello guys,
We are working on a Datawarehouse (ard 50G ) architecture with the following acquired environment:
Single server X3650 M4 Dual CPU ( 16 core in total ) with 48G ram
    Oracle standard 10g x64
    Windows 2008 x64
    128 SSD x 8
    IBM ServeRAID M5110e SAS/SATA Controller
Due to budget concern, we will be running the App server(Business OBjects 4.0 w/ Tomcat and DB server on the same machine. )
We have a user base of around 30 ppl on the app server.
We intend to have external redundancy using IBM raid card on raid 10 configuration. I wonder what kind of disk config yield better performance if we only have write update in the morning and 95% read for the rest ?
    Raid 1 for OS (128SSD x 2 including DB logfile )
    Raid 10 for DB server ( 128 SSD x 6 )
I heard ASM provides better disk management but just wonder it helps in performance in anyway.
Any advice on better disk configuration, segment size, block size ?
    thanks
    Clement

    Hi,
ASM does provide redundancy but you can also configure external redundancy at SAN level, please go through below links for more information.
