PI does suggest that LabVIEW drivers are available for C Series devices (Have you contacted them?)
I would be a bit careful using that driver "Out of the box"
That image on their web site does not really inspire me to believe that the developers understood what they were doing

Looking for a motorized linear stage actuator to travel 4cm.

Hello. I am looking for a motoized linear stage or actuator and I want to use Labview to control the motion since I am comfortable with it, so I thought what better place to ask for help!
I will need everything (motor, drive, cables, etc) since I have never done this before. I am currently trying to find a motorized solution that will move horizontally 4cm, and will quickly stop and start ~50 times during the motion. I have looked at several linear stages and actuators, and it looks like a stepper motor with open loop feedback will be best fit my needs since the position accuracy isn't much of concern. Let me breifly describe some of the requirements: It needs to complete a 4cm total distance in only a few seconds (at least less than 5s but less is better), the position accuracy/resolution only needs to be 0.1mm, I would like to use Labview to easily programically control the entire motion, the total cost (drive, motor, cables, etc.) should be low, the total load is only a few pounds, and it should have a small footprint.
So far the best solution I have found is the Zaber motorized linear stage part number KT-L-SQ75D for $2,025.00 http://www.zaber.com/products/product_group.php?group=T-LSQ An engineer from Zaber performed the following test: Each move distance was set at 0.8mm (total of 4cm). Using the fastest speed setting (595mm/s), the stage was able to complete the entire move sequence in about 2.75s. So far this is the best I have been able to come up with by myself and I would greatly appreciate anyones advice on a better solution or their own experience with this product/company. Hello again everyone. I just wanted to provide an additional update to my last post. I have also been talking with someone who suggested a Parker stepper driven lead screw stage, model: Promech LP28 with 50mm travel with limit switches http://divapps.parker.com/divapps/emn/pdf/PROmech.pdf. The suggested that I could use the IMS MForce Microstepping Drive as the most economical drive solution http://www.imshome.com/products/mforce_microdrive_mfi.html, or a galil driver. It seems that the IMS doesn't have as much labview support (only a few VI's) http://www.imshome.com/support/mdrive/programs/MCode_LV_86.zip, but the Galil drivers seem to be very easy to use with labview http://www.galilmc.com/support/appnotes/software/note4414.pdf. I don't know how much the Parker Promech stage was quoted at $600, the IMS drive at $250, and I don't know what the Galil driver cost but I was told it is more, and ~350 for cables and a power supply.
The reason why I hesitate to use this is because it seems to not be in a single package like the Zaber product I mentioned in my last post, and I don't know if it will be as quick. The engineer that is trying to sell the Parker stage said that it should be able to move 0.8mm in 0.08s, but how long would it take to make 50 consecutive 0.8mm movments? Would it be 0.08s*50=4s? Also even then it takes longer than the 2.75s than the Zaber product, so I wonder if it could move faster? Anyone use this product to know the fastest it should be able to make this motion. Also I am not very concerned with the stability when it is stopped and started, because even if it vibrates a few microns it shouldn't be a problem since my resolution/accuracy concerns are on the order of 0.1mm not microns.
Thanks again for any other suggestions that would also work, or any first hand knowledge of any of these products would be greatly appreciated so I can decide which to purchase.

Driver for step motor controller MM4006

Please help, i need the driver for the step motor controller MM4006
(Newport, Micro Controle). I found them on the Newport site, but when
i unzip them, it seems to be the drivers for the MM4005, so is there a
difference between both.

Looking for a gaming controller that will work with iMac

I second the logitech rumblepad 2. I have the cordless version. Works like a charm, I had a 3rd party system preference pane for changing the buttons, I used it once to set up, the buttons didn't really do what I said, could well have been me not doing it right.
I had the 3rd part pane because I couldn't get it set up in Need For Speed Carbon, but now it works perfectly on its own.

Gateway Manager is looking for a Gateway Controller

I have installed Apple Service Toolkit and cannot get the Gateway Manager to open. It is prompting me for a password and the directions ask me to use 'apple'. It says that it is an invalid password. I try the password from the last time I setup the Apple Service Toolkit and it is invalid as well. I chatted with tech support and they gave me some plist to delete and reinstall the tools. I did that and got the same result. I have installed this three previous times with success but I am not sure what the issue is with this time. Any help would be appreciated. Open /Library/Preferences/com.apple.gateway.plist with textwrangler (or the like)
Change "en0" to whatever network interface is connected the diagnostic network (in our case, en4, the thunderbolt to enet adapter that connects to the switch our UUTs connect to)
Reboot
YMMV, but that's what finally worked for us.

Smart motors program

This Sam,I am quite new to labview (have been using it for about a week) I have recieve a project for making a program for Smart motors. I was unable to write a program to my smart motors . I have searched this forum and found little tidbits to help me on my way but am now at a bit of a loss as to how to solve my new problem.
What I need to program is: be able to move my motors clockwise direction and anticlockwise direction and if i request to run my motor in forward direction it should run.. I allready program my motor but the only reason is not accurate. The problem of my Smart motors is running but it stops at certain point. My problem is that if I click the button to move the motors to the home position, the button that moves the motors to the 'loading' position no longer works. I want to be able to perform any of the mentioned operations at any point in time (i.e. move back and forth from 'loading' to home) which is not accurate.
The functions i need is: RPM,How many cycle i have run button,counter, torque, which direction my motor is moving, And i need a gage to look for which direction my motor is moving, i need a rotation button which i once hit it should work clockwise and anticlockwise direction.
Also the stop button I have just doesn't work or ends up stopping the entire VI.
As I've said I'm very new to labview and am learning it as I'm trying to program. I have attached the best version of my program for others to look at and give a advice or make some adjustment etc... It would a be a highy appericated.

Thanks for your response, Actually i got this project last week to create the program for smart motors. In this program i need to add some function like RPM, Mode, Status of the motor, which direction my motor is running, And i need to track the counts of the revelotion,Cycle to run, And i want to see the gage working clockwise and anticlock as per my request to run my motor clockwise or anticlock wise directions, Start and stop button,And you can see 2 buttons (1) Once i hit forward direction button my motor should run forward direction, (2) once i hit 360 rotation button my motor should work back and fourth direction. I already program for this motors. You can see 2 program on a same front panel. The upper program i need to update with some function which i have already placed. And the 2 program which is below one is accurate. If you see my blockdiagram it kind of mess. And you get some kind of idea by seeing my 2 program which is in block diagram.I would highly appericate if you make any change to my program to make my program more accurate. Or you can make changes in my 2 program to add those etc functions that is ( MODE, STATUS, DIRECTION, TOTAL NUMBER OF STEPS, FORWARD DIRECTION BUTTON .The only thing i need a basic program. It will be more appericated.

An instrument driver is a collection of functions that implement the commands necessary to perform the instrument�s operations. In short, someone read the instrument user manual and implemented some of the functionality in a program for the end user. Instrument drivers are not necessary to use your instrument. They are merely time savers to help you develop your project so you do not need to study the manual before writing a program.
There are example VI's in LV on Instrument Connectivity. If you go to the Help menu >> Examples.. >> I/O, you will see a couple and Examples.. >> Fundamentals for File and String manipulation. I would suggest tweaking them to suit your application. Also the specific command that your instrument responds to can be found from it's manual.

Are you sure that the "On My Mac" folders weren't empty? If all your mail accounts are IMAP, they may have been.

I love the Smart Cover. It fits the way I work and I love the instant on/off and the always available screen protection. I wouldn't use my iPad without it.
I got a Cover Buddy for the back, because I wanted the back to be less slippery when I'm using the iPad in the classroom, teaching. I picked this back cover because it's VERY lightweight, easy to get on or off and, protects the corners, has accurate cutouts for the ports, and (in the colors) has a rubberized surface:

Vector smart objects still looking for older version of Illustrator

When we try to open smart objects from withing Photoshop CC, they're looking for Illustrator CS6. On machines where Illustrator CS6 is uninstalled we get errors. All the file associations in Bridge are correctly set. Is there a way to change the file associations for smart objects?

Editing smart objectrs uses the system wide associations, not the ones from Bridge, so you need to adjust that for the *.ai file type.

How can I set up a smart album that looks for keywords?

I'm in the middle of a rethink on my image management and am wanting to setup smart albums that will search for and display images that have a certain keyword. When I create a new smart album to do this, I'm only given the ability to choose to search for rating and calendar criteria; the keywords and import session options are greyed out. My images have keywords assigned, so where do I go from here?

OK, a step forward. It seems that if I create a smart album it will only look for keywords in the project that it is contained in.
Perhaps someone can help me then: I keep a collection of albums for each person that is featured in a photograph. These albums are stored outside of the projects that the images are stored in so I can have a collection of images that show person X from all the different shoots.
What I want to do now is keyword each image with the person's name (as a keyword) and then have a Smart album that will pick out all of their photos from my entire library, not just a certain project. How can I do this?
