Looking for solid contact management software

I'm in real estate and have been looking for some software to run on my Mac that provides the same or similar functionality to Top Producer for PCs. Not sure yet if Top Producer runs well on VPC, and am looking into alternatives. Any suggestions?

  • Best Contact Management Software for Mac

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I can't find it anywhere. Plus, I'm not sure if I'm even in the right place. But, can you tell me what contact management software works the best for Mac?
Also, I'm new to using such software, is there anything specific I should be looking for when choosing one?
    Thanks!

I'm sorry to say there isn't much around. It has been a bit of a weak spot for Mac / OS X for ages - but things are possibly improving.
Any CRM solution for OS X needs really to co-operate with Address Book and iCal - so you can sync your stuff out to PDAs or whatever, and use them in Mail / iWork / Office 2008 etc. that are already written to work with such info in AB and iCal. If it doesn't, you end up with a closed-off app that can't easily work with you on the machine, and which then has to re-do code that already exists. Odd design constraints in earlier versions of iCal and AB made this harder - they were not very aware of other systems / apps. But this is changing in Leopard, and there are some promising things on the horizon (though none really useful solutions avail yet).
Of those out there, probably the best notional app is (in my view) Now Software's Nighthawk (http://www.nowsoftware.com/nighthawkSubsite/index.html). It is written by a team with a solid track record of CRM development on Macs, and is apparently designed to play nice with iSync and the rest. Trouble is it doesn't yet exist - rumours of a public Beta have been out there for months, but the date keeps slipping. Could be a good thing, or signs of major problems - who knows. Realistically you'll not see anything commercially viable from them before April next year I reckon.
But waiting could be good. The other attempt we've seen is SOHO Organizer by Chronos Software. (http://www.chronosnet.com/Products/sohoorganizer.html) In description it does the business - iSync / iCal / AB compatible. But it has had a troubled development, and there is lots of grim sounding reports of trouble with the app on the net. The developers are not very kind to themselves with not much disclosure and (at least last time a looked) a restrictive demo / preview policy (you get one trial period, and that's it, for ever! Even if they bring out a major version number change). My personal experience is that they tell a much better marketing story than they deliver in software - but I've steered clear of the app for a long time now (after a seriously bad experience) but who knows, they might well have caught up with their ambitions by now.
There are many others about that are really central web-based systems - which is fine provided you don't want to use Mail / AB / iCal or sync any of this to your phone / PDA / .Mac or whatever.
So, nothing much going on now. But ever hopeful...
If anyone knows more / other stuff - would be good to know about. We're still travelling hopefully.

  • I am looking for a File Manager

I'm looking for a file manager that will let me see what files I have on my BB itself and on the card.  I would also like to be able to move files from the BB memory to the card in some cases.  Does anyone know if there is such a utility available in the BB world?
Along with that, I am wondering if I can run applications from the card as well as the BB memory?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Bob

    Hi there!
Concerning file management, I find that using the USB tether method is the simplest as it lets you treat your Device and Media Card memory as USB drive letters in Windows:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Desktop-Software/HOWTO-use-your-blackberry-as-a-US...
There also is a native file manager app:
    Homescreen > Media > BBKey > Explore
I recall some posts here somewhere about add-ons...you might dig into AppWorld to see if there is anything you might like.
Concerning your second question about running apps from the Media Card -- no. BB's restrict apps to being installed into the protected and fixed AppMemory location. There are some tricky add-ons that will swap apps in and out of AppMemory when you are not using them, but to run, an app must be installed into AppMemory. There is no option.
    Hope that helps!

  • Looking for a file manager with these features:

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a file manager that has the following features (in that order of importance):
      - Designed with keyboard users in mind (but full mouse support also)
      - Easily configurable
      - Supports copying, moving, deleting and the usual operations
      - Good search functionnality
      - Can see a lot of files at once, does not take up too much room on screen
      - Can tie certain file types to applications (ex. open .avi files with video player)
      - Nice to look at
      - [opt.] Can preview pictures (thumbnails or a preview pane)
Does such a file manager exist? What would you reccomend?
By the way, my current window manager is pekwm.
I am new to linux desktops, so this may change.

Hah, I was going to say exactly that... "keyboard users in mind? my file manager has some awesome hotkeys - like 'l' then 's' to list files, and 'c' then 'p' to copy, 'm' then 'v' to move, it goes on and on, and it has millions of 'plugins'!"
Yeah. I fell in love with linux because of the command line. But it's not always the best tool.
One advantage of graphical file managers is that they offer 'automatic ls': you always see the contents of your directory.
Also, yesterday I needed to move most files in one directory to another. They had varied names. This would have taken a long time with the command-line: I could have named the files one by one, or moved all of them and then name one by one the files that I want moved back. With a graphical file manager, I can select all files and then 'unselect' the ones I don't want to move with just a few clicks. It's faster and simpler. (Or maybe there's some really fancy CLI tool that I don't know about)
When choosing a tool for a job, first I look for the most ethical one, then the most practical one. In most cases I would say I prefer the command line, but sometimes a graphical interface is better. Computers are really good at both, so using both methods is the way I go.
I absolutely love your humour though, slackhack and phrakture. Keep it up!

  • Looking for a file manager with copy queue

    Hey,
I'm looking for a file manager with a file-copy-queue feature.
It is useful when browsing mounted samba shares, and you find something you want to copy.
You'll then start copying the files, and then spot another useful folder. You start copying that as well
and suddenly you got 5 different file copies processing at the same time, which decreases the copy speed.
I also miss the feature when transfering files from my external harddrives.
If there is a lot of FM's with this feature, I prefer one without kde-dependencies, as I am using xfce.

Ranguvar wrote:If MC really does have that as a feature, it's once again proved itself _the_ graphical (sorta) file manager.
    sorry for misinformed.
mc has a background job option while copying, it is not exactly a queue like functionality, but simulating to be a queue, and you can stop/resume a background job.

  • I just bought the revolution after having a blackberry and i'm looking for a notepad type software and a place to store passwords.

i just bought the revolution after having a blackberry and i'm looking for a notepad type software and a place to store passwords.

I use SafeWallet after trying most of the apps in the market place. It's a bit expensive compared to most and you have to pay for the desktop application which sucks but the other apps were some cumbersome I knew I would never use them after the initial setup.
I'll add the normal caution of storing passwords in a non-protected text file but you probably know that

  • VZAccess Manager install hangs looking for previous versions of software

UGH!  Trying to install the VZAccess Manager for the UM175 USB modem.  Driver installs but it gets to the point of the installation where the message box says "Checking for previous versions of VZAccess Manager..."
It just sits there and never goes away.  FRUSTRATING!!!!  The driver actually installs but the manager software never does.  What gives?
Oh ya...Windows 7 is the OS

VZAccess Manager software must be installed before inserting the PC Card / USB Modem into the computer for the first time. Only after the software has been installed can Windows successfully install and configure the PC Card / USB Modem.
    Start Device Manager.
Windows 7 Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager.
Click on the link below on using device manager.

  • Looking for DELL Webcam Central software and the webcam software updates

My laptop is DELL XPSM1530. I read that the webcam was made by Creative Technology.
Recently, I read in DELL.com that there is a software named DELL Webcam Central.
It was said that it can improve the camera performance.
I have looked for it in DELL.com but I did not found it and I also have looked it here but I got nothing.
Where can I get it? Is it the same as Webcam Manager / Webcam Central that has been installed in my laptop here?
And if it the same, where can I have the software updates?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
You will stand a better chance getting in touch with Dell, the download site here does not offer the mentioned webcam software.
