Looking for SQL*Loader sample file

Hi all,
I'm looking for a sample SQL*Loader file that I could use to populate the Bank Statement Interface in Cash Management (Receivables Lockbox Receipts) - specifically CE_STATEMENT_HEADERS_INT_ALL and CE_STATEMENT_LINES_INTERFACE.
I'm trying to put together an interface from Bank of America's Lockbox into our Oracle Receivables system (11.0.3), and don't have access to anything from which to start from.

Edited by: royce on Sep 18, 2008 2:08 AMActually, looking at your data again, you don't have a consistent format, so this makes it really difficult for something like SQL*Loader to process. If there were just e.g. 3 rows per record then that would be simple, but you are expecting SQL*Loader to look ahead to determine if there is more data or if it's reached the end of the record.
You would be better to load the data (external tables would probably make it quicker and easier as the data will come in the order as it is specified in the file, which would help as you have no group identifier against the sets of records) as it is and then use SQL to process them.
You haven't specified the resulting table that the data is loaded into. Is that just one single VARCHAR column with all the data concatenated or is it several columns (one for each name)?

Changing the File path for SQL Loader Recognition

I am learning how to create a control file. The names.ctl file was placed in "Names" folder in my "C:\Windows" file.
I get the following error when trying to run the script for sqlldr:
Sql*Loader-500 Unable to open file.
Sql*Loader-553 file not found
Sql*Loader-System error: the system cannot find the specified file.
The path on the folder in c:\Windows\names\names.ctl
How do I make SQL Loader recognize it?

Pl post details of OS and database versions. Have you tried this ?

Is there a way to concatenate several character positions in a control file for sql*loader???
example... field1 position(1:3) || position(5:7) ????
I would rather not create any unnecessary temp tables for a straight load...

Skipping fields in SQL*LOADER data file

I have a data file that has more fields than the target table does. How can I write a SQL*LOADER control file to skip some fields in the middle of the text line?

If you don't want to define input fields by position, the simplest way I think is to use FILLER fields.
Quoted from SQL*Loader doc:
"Specifying Filler Fields
Filler fields have names but they are not loaded into the table. However, filler fields can be used as arguments to init_specs (for example, NULLIF and DEFAULTIF) as well as to directives (for example, SID, OID, REF, BFILE). The program will read table name as i/p and will use

Why is the Microsoft Office Access Database Engine data source looking for a workgroup information file?

While trying to import to MSSQL2012 from SSDT using the wizard from an Access 2013 DB (.accdb) which is password protected, I get the following error with the username blank and the password field correctly populated:
Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user. (MicrosoftOffice Access Database Engine)
But according to this link:

MSA10 and beyond shouldn't need workgroup information files, although it's not clear to me if they are
created/used or not.
I can point the wizard to some local version of system.mdw at Advanced -> All -> Jet OLEDB:System Database, and then the error becomes:
Not a valid account name or password. (Microsoft Office Access Database Engine)
for any username I can think of.
Questions:
1. Why does this data source insist on looking for a workgroup information file even though user-level security should be disabled?
2. Why does the Open dialog box for the Microsoft Access Database Engine have *.mdb as the only selectable filetype?
3. How can I get around these errors for an .accdb that is password protected?

To connect to Access 2007 or later database, we need the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB driver. SQL Server only installs the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB driver which can be used to connect to Access 2003 or earlier database. Besides, the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB
driver only has 32-bit version, but the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB driver has both 32-bit and 64-bit version. However, the 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB drivers cannot be installed on a single server.
According to your description, you can use the 64-bit SQL Server Import and Export Wizard to load data from the Access database, so the 64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB driver is installed on your computer. Since the BIDS/SSDT is a 32-bit application, the
64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB Provider is not visible in BIDS/SSDT. So, when you said that you select “Microsoft Access (Microsoft Access Database Engine)" in the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard (it is actually the 32-bit version) started by the SSDT,
I think it should be “Microsoft Access (Microsoft Jet Database Engine)”. Because the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB driver only supports Access 2003 or earlier format, it threw the error “Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Unrecognized

project. The status of the corresponding OLE DB Connection Manager should be Work Offline, or the OLE DB Source will throw an error about 32-bit driver if the Connection Manager is not in Work Offline status, you can ignore that and the package can run successfully
in SSDT as long as the project is set to run in 64-bit runtime mode.
However, for the SSDT 2012 integrated with Visual Studio 2012, the 64-bit runtime mode is disabled. In this situation, to run the package in SSDT, you have to uninstall the 64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB drivers and install the 32-bit one. Here is the

Parameters / Variables in SQL Loader Control File

Here's my problem, I have created SQL Loader control file (ctl) to load a file of employees. This loader program is registered in Oracle Applications. What I want is to pass a parameter derived from the profile like the user name of the one who executed the loader program and pass it to the loader program so that the user name info is included in the loading

the sysdate is easy because it can be defined in the column but what I really want to achieve is a parameter passed to the ctl file.

Define variable in SQL Loader Control File

Hi,
I have an input file where the first line is the header record, followed by the detail records. For the processing, I do not need to store the fields of the header record but I need a date field from this header record and store in as part of the detail record in an oracle record row.
Is it possible to define a variable within the sql loader control file to store the value that I need in memory then use it when I do the sql insert by the sql loader?

Not sure that you can. But if your on unix/linux/mac its easy enough to write a shell script to populates the variables in a template file that you can then use as the ctl file. The perl template toolkit could be an option for that as well

How to set default directory for SQL LOADER

hi all,
i wanted to know how can we setup a default directory for SQL LOADER if at all we can. i connot place my control and data files in local system and use them at command prompt. rather i wanted to know if we can set default directory that the loader can use. this requirement is basically to enable all the clients to upload the data placed on the server and use the loader utility.

You don't say which version of SQL Developer you are using via Citrix, but just setting the SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR hasn't worked for a long time (see Re: SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR does not function anymore). Also, since version 1.5, the default for the user directory (now set via ide.user.dir as shown below) is under the user profile area (relative to %APPDATA%), which you should be able to write to, even on Citrix.
Assuming that neither of those help, you will need to get whoever installed SQL Developer on the Citrix C: drive to modify the sqldeveloper.conf to have a line like, where the path exists for everyone who will be using the shared SQL Developer (assumes everyone has a H: drive):
AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=H:\sqldeveloperAn alternative (depending on how you start SQL Developer via Citrix), is to create your own shortcut to start SQL Developer with something like:
sqldeveloper -J-Dide.user.dir="%SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR%"theFurryOne

Way to generate sql*loader ctl file from a table?

I'm an oracle newbie. (Oracle 8i, HP Unix)Is there any way to take an existing table
description and generate a sql*loader control file from it? If anyone has already written a procedure or knows where one can be found I'd really appreciate it. We're doing a mass conversion to oracle and would like an easy way to re-write all our loads.

Behavior of append in sql loader control file

I've been searching for the exact behavior of the append option on the control file for sql loader and believe the following is the case
using append means that new records will be written to the table
what happens with records in the file that already exist in the table. Are they written to the discard or bad files or just ignored. I assume they are ignored but wasn't able to find anywhere it said that explicitly

Actaully the table being loaded into has no keys defined. So the complete record would exist. For example the table has 3 coulumns named c1,c2, c3 and a record with the following
abc
def
ghi
If I load the table using the append method and the file contains the same record would I then have two records? Actually I can test this myself. When asking the question originally I didn't have anything setup to test it.

Add "Trailing Nullcolls" to sql loader control files generated by OWB

Hi gurus,
I've got a problem loading data with SQL Loader. I need to add the parameter "trailing nullcols" into the SQL Loader control file generated by OWB. I don't want to do this by saving the skript on my hard disk and run it manually, so any ideas where I can put this parameter? I am using OWB 10.1 on a windows 2000 machine.

I found the solution to problem.
1; Select the mapping where you map your source flat file to a table.
2; Right click on the mapping and select "configure"
3; Go Sources and Targets -> YOUR_TABLE_NAME -> SQL*Loader Parameters
4; Set Trailing Nullcols = true :-)

Importing already-made SQL*Loader control files in OWB 10g

Hi all,
Suppose that I have a certain amount of already hand-made SQL*Loader control files, say 50 or so.
Each of these control files have a variable quantity of fields.
I feel really lazy, so I would like to know if it is possible to import directly these control files instead of re-typing them in the design center. That would save me a lot of time.

Hi Burgy
One option is to use the sqlloader option to generate an external table from the SQLLoader control file (search for generate_only in the sqlloader documentation). If you define the external table in the database you can reverse engineer this into OWB.

SQL Loader Control file help!!!

Hi All,
I was in the process of writing a control file for sql loader for an activity i am performing and would appreciate inputs from you all.
I have a table patient containing 44 columns, i have a column 'SEC_LANG_NAME' in which i have to insert data from a excel file.
The excel file contains 3 columns, PATIENT_ID, NAME,SEC_LANG_NAME, i just want to load the values present in 'SEC_LANG_NAME' column in excel file into the 'SEC_LANG_NAME' coulmn in the patient table using sqlloader and the condition is that PATIENT_ID in excel file should be equal to PATIENT_ID in the patient table.
as a first step i am converting this excel into a csv file, and then will shoot the sqlldr once i am done with control file, can someone please help me with the format of control file for this activity.

It appears that your intent is to load data into an existing table that contains the key data and is only lacking a column of information. SQL*Loader itself is not built to do this; what it can do is load records to tables. You will have to use a two-step approach similar to what Srini has suggested. 1) If your process is able to be run local to the database server, an external table is a great option. If your process is instead run remote to the database server, SQL*Loader will allow you to load your data file to a table. 2) You will need to run a process to update the PATIENT table.
Here is a start of a control file based on the details that you've providedLOAD DATA

, name FILLER
