  • Street Fighter V DLC can be unlocked for free

During a Street Fighter V panel at EVO today, Capcom announced a shift in strategy for the series. The publisher is moving away from its long-standing pattern of releasing a major disc-based update to the latest version of the game. Going forward, Capcom plans to treatStreet Fighter as a singular, evolving platform, which will be supported regularly with smaller, more frequent updates. The kicker? Players will be able to unlock a lot of that downloadable content for free. In addition to the base game, which will come with 16 playable characters -- four of them new, all game balancing and system adjustments will be available for free. Moreover, Capcom asserts all post-launch "gameplay related" content can be earned by playing the game. To that end, there will be a pair of in-game currencies, one called Fight Money and the other Zenny. Fight Money is obtained in-game and can be used to unlock downloadable content. On the other hand, Zenny is purchased actual, real-life money and allows you to forgo any grinding and just buy whatever you want. Capcom didn't provide any details regarding explicitly how the former is acquired and is still working on its pricing models for the latter. While there's potential for some free-to-play-style ugliness here, I like the idea of only having to buy one disc over the life of Street Fighter V. And there are some other benefits to the system, too -- namely not splitting the community. During the panel, Capcom senior product marketing manager Matt Dahlgren noted the "old strategy punished players who took a break from playing the game." "For instance," Dahlgren continued. "If they stopped playing during Street Fighter IV, and they wanted to come back and play a little more during the Super Street Fighter IV era, they would have been forced to purchase an upgrade to play in the largest player pool. "Essentially, what we did over time with Street Fighter IV is made our player pool smaller and smaller by eliminating people who didn't purchase the upgrades. That old method forced players to purchase all of the new content, even if only a few characters were really appealing to them. "Looking forward, our new strategy is more consumer friendly. This also creates additional long-term engagement with the game, because the more you play it, the more you're rewarded. We're always adding to the player base this time around -- we're never shrinking it by requiring a paid update. Players can leave at any time and come back at any time, and play on the latest balance adjustments with the largest player base."  Street Fighter V is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC sometime next spring. Source : Destructoid

16 fighters  Fight money. Earn 1 coin per match. New fighter comes out, 3,999,999 coins or £7.99  I can sense how this is going to turn out and it won't smell nice. I'm getting a bit sick sick of being charged £49.99 to play a free to play game.

  • Looking for software that mirrors Streets and Trips

    Hi Everyone,
For years I've used Microsoft Streets & Trips to plan hiking trips and travel across the world.  I recenty made the switch to Apple and, of course, do not regret one aspect.  Except, that is, that I cannot seem to find any software packages or applications that mirror Microsoft's Streets & Trips.  Does anyone know of a program that may be similar and worth a try.  It's difficult to explain all of the capabilities of S&T so here is a link to the software for comparison.
    I truly appreciate any help!

If you're looking for some options other than Streets and Trips now that is has been discontinued, I suggest visiting http://mappoint-alternative.com/ - I found some great replacements for Streets and Trips there!

  • I am looking for direction on beginning a project.

Hello all, this is is a brief and likely frustratingly generic message.
It has been well over a decade since I have worked with Adobe products (I last built a web page with PS 5 and Macromedia Dreamweaver).
All of the new tools available to us are astounding but, for someone partially familiar with the tools but unfamiliar with the new workflows, the Creative Cloud can be daunting: there is simply so much.
I have two projects I would like to work on, the first is a blog that will incorporate videos of recorded shows, and host essays and writing on creative criticism, the second is a web page for a tutoring and academic writing service.
What I am looking for isn't a hand to hold while I do all of this, but a bit more specific a vector for where to begin my learning. I am used to the old method of designing, slicing, and fighting with pixels and tables, and having to manually set styles on static portions of web pages; CSS is a new ball game for me, as it was only in its infancy when I was doing this years ago.
Should I be using Dreamweaver, or Edge Reflow these days, if I am more of a designer/writer than an artist? What about Muse; though I find that Muse doesn't render graphics very well and content becomes blurry (like blurred 1px lines rather than crisp images like in PS)? I'd like to be able to repackage my blog in a mobile app one day, likewise for the tutoring service, but that one much farther down the road.
So, I guess, I've put on my blindfold, and am ready to pin the tail on the donkey, but I need someone to give me a spin first. I know there isn't much detail in this post, but I don't want to start rambling about things that don't really matter yet; but I do have the projects outlined and ready for green lights, so I can fill in more details as required.
    Best,
    Jared.

  • Looking for a mobile printer for my car/ on the road work for my IPAD2

Looking for a printer I can use in my car and where ever necessary.

I've been happily printing for a while from my iPad to my battery-operated HP H470 with absolutely no wires (and no router / pre-existing WiFi connection - it operates in AdHoc mode). Literally just the iPad and the H470 - in fact, one time in a marquee in the middle of a muddy field with no power and a long way from the nearest WiFi connection, so it can be done from literally anywhere.
Once I'd sorted it all out, I wrote down the solution and the steps to get it to work in the hope of helping others:

    Hope that's useful to someone!

  • Looking for a reveal

    Looking for a step-by-step how-to:
I have a wide overhead shot of a brewery bottling line and detail shots of the steps in the bottling process. I'm trying to highlight those steps, with say, an spotlight of some sort that widens to reveal the detail shot.
I suspect there is a simple solution that can be done all in FCP, but I haven't put my finger on it. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Zak,
Occam's Razor?  How philosophical of you, and so early in the morning.
In a previous life I met Rene Descartes, the famous "I think therefore I am" philosopher.
Lo and behold I also attended his funeral.  It was a beautiful procession to the cemetery where the casket was on a wagon being pulled by a beautiful white stallion.
At one point going down a street the wagon became dislodged from the stallion and began rolling past the horse.
I whispered to my grieving friend at the time and said look they've put Descartes before the horse.

  • Looking for a virtual app that will allow me to take a photo then be able to add details

Looking for a virtual app that I can use in my event planning and designing that I can take a pic on my iPad and then design the pic to my personal needs?

    "Motion 5" is your friend.
Michael Wohl has a nice 15 video series (free) about Motion 5 at http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/motion5101-overview-and-workflow-guide (right side)
This is a "teaser" series to sell his tutorials but it is really good. Just saw it yesterday for the first time.
While all you want is just to place pins, realize that Motion has so much more. All kinds of effects and they can be really customized. Maybe put their street address, contact name, and phone number by the pin?
Motion 5: cheap at $49.99 (just got my download two days ago)
    Motion 5: Support Community athttps://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/motion_5
If you're using the map for, say, deliveries, and use an iPad, what you could do is have a general map of the area imported into Motion, create the pins and whatever, then save (share?) it to the iPad.
Disclaimer: I have virtually no relationship with anything connected with this tutorial product, developer, or anything.

  • I am looking for a map app that will allow me to place pins where my clients offices are on a map and keep them save every time I open the app. Does anyone out there know of an app that will do this?

  • Looking for a desktop replacement, how will this one fare?

I think I settled on the one I am looking for...
My price range is probably no more than 1300-1500.

How will this stand up to some moderate to heavy editing? I am new to the video editing world, coming from music production. I would mostly like to make simple youtube videos for man on the street stuff and work my way up to documentaries and the like, maybe around 45 mins in length or so with lots of graphics and stock footage. Will this be a good bargain for what I am looking for? I would rather it be overkill than get invested in the process of editing only to find out my computer cant cut it...
Thanks a lot you guys I am always learning more when I come here!

BTW...this is something I did recently which got me on this kick. I did it on my brothers Dell. I think it was a 17R if im not mistaken. It took it pretty well and rendering was about 2 hours for this 22min clip which is longer than I would have liked. But I didnt do any color correction or get to heavy into it, I was just learning the lay of the land for Pp.
I will mainly be using AVCHD full 1080p from my Canon Vixia M500 and 1080p from my GoPro Hero 3 Black if that makes any difference...Thanks!
    heres the clip.

    PogoPossum,
My area of interest is in business and economic history. There is a considerable amount of reading and charting. Until the iPad hit the streets, I only considered stacks of books, journals, and downloaded documents, all marked up with highlighters, underlines, and marginal notes.
Most of my PC based work involved MS Office, Endnote, and MS OneNote.
What I would like to do with the iPad and MacBook are the same things (Office, Endnote, OneNote) and add the ability to read and markup all forms of printed materials from books to pdf to webpages.
I cut my teeth on an iPod Touch and have tried a lot of the note taking and reading apps. Without a camera the standard iPod Notes works for short quick notes and long think pieces. I just emailed the content and downloaded the stuff to my PC. Obviously, I do not want to continue at this "non-integrated" level of work.
    Does this help?
    Dick

  • Looking for ext speakers for MacBook Pro

My built-in speakers go off a lot so looking for some speakers under $100 street price (could be used) to go with my MacBook Pro.  I listen to wide variety of music but the only ones I've tried so far, Logitech Z320's had no treble or upper midrange and I was very disappointed with their performance.  Don't need to sound like $200+ speakers, just something that can take the place of the ones in the MacBook so I am not tied to my headphones all the time.

Well… on the Windows front the MBP will run as well as any other PC laptop with a similar spec so on that you should have no problems. However, there are a couple of little quirks to running Windows on a Mac (mainly keyboard and mouse) but these are very minor.
As for the game, compare to other PC hardware with a similar spec. That should give you an idea of the system requires for any game you're interested in.
is it the answer, I think it's as good as, if not better, than any other option tyou have given there are few other that will run Max OS X.

  • Looking for  a geocoder

    Hi all,
I am looking for a fast geocoder (as well as reverse geocoding)to work on a spatial street layer of nationwide extent. Does anyone have experience and any ideas what works the best.
    Thanks.
    Mattias

Mapinfo MapMarker Plus should be a pretty good concerning the speed and easy usage, and I did geocoding and reverse geocoding all the time in many projects. Our company (Spatial Data), as an major VAR of Mapinfo products, can give you a good deal on that product. We are a partner of Oracle too, I don't know why it's not listed on the Oracle site. Drop me an email if you want to know more about it.
