Looking for Sync utility like Beyond Compare

I'm looking for a folder/file synchronization utility like Beyond Compare (which is a Windows-only product). Beyond Compare has a few features that make it outstanding. I know of no Mac synchronization utilitiy that has all of these features:
1) You can set up compare sessions with individual preferences for each.
2) The individual preferences includes a list of file/directory names to be ignored.
3) You can perform a compare and have it display the differences.
4) I can dispatch file/folder moves individually and instantly.
5) It can display differences of files (binary or text).
The 4th item is key. While I'm displaying differences, I only see the differences. It could be dozens or hundreds or thousands of files and folders. If I conclude that folder97 needs to be sync'd to the right, I select the command from a pop-up menu and it syncs to the right and disappears off of my display as it is no longer a difference. As I go through the differences one by one, they disappear off of my screen. This goes on until I have resolved all of the differences.
Beyond Compare is extremely powerful, flexible and intuitive. It should be a Mac app. I just wish there were something on the Mac like it.

There is actually. It's called chronosync:

it does everything you listed.

    Hi All
I am looking for a utility that would map my error codes to corresponding error messages. If you know there such a utility, please point me to it. In addition, I am looking for a utility that would validates input -- eg. length, range of input. Thanks.

  • Looking for newer Mobo, like the MS-7345 Platinum P-35.

    Hello,
I'm thinking about upgrading my P-35 MS-7345. I really like the MSI brand. I'm going on 5 years, but because of possible GPU issues (like screen ghosting, Non-responding, and timer continues to spin, even when I make a very simple video action, like adding a transition, everything freezes and hangs, to the point of rebooting.
Some people have asked if i updraded Win7 drivers for the MSI boardw hich i'm sure i did. Some asked me to check the board for bad or damaged caps, so I checked both the GPU, and Mobo, but could not see anything.  Then someone told me it could be the Power supply...really?
In looking at Video cards, Like the PNY Quadro 600 ($150.00) requires a PCi-E 2.0x16, which I have now, but the higher end cards like the PNY Quadro 2000, ($400.00) and others, reqiuire a PCI-E 3.0x16.
WISHY WASHY~  Don't know if i should wait to get a new mobo, before I buy a new card, becuz it's going to be a while. I don't want to buy the Q600 DDR3 now, to be obsolete and a non-performer compared to the Q2000 DDR5, which would be more faster, then I wonder, i7, more DDR3 memory, and a new Mobo, then use a slower DDR3?  Ummmmmm.
To be honest, I like MSI, I bought my new MSI Platinum five years ago, and love it!  I'd like to keep it if i could, but technology supercedes practicallity, with the newer atx case with front USB 3.0 (mine is only 2.0....if it's backward compatible, then fine.) I'd like to ahead of the game, but not if i'm going to go BROKE!
With my old build, with the mobo, Intel Quad Q6600,700W Toughpower PSU, memory, hard drives, That set me back about $1200.00.
So..... for someone like me who is not a gamer, does not overclock, wants a minimum of 32GB DDR3, 700W PSU, three SATAII hard drives, does anyone have some Mainboard choices of newer LGA 1155 or 2011 that would either of these work?
This time, I'll need the i7 (or i5) new mobo, new DDR3 memory...up to minimum 16GB, maybe 32GB, and that's that. I'll use what I can,. or give or sell this tower and everything inside to my sister.
I was only looking at these two for specs:
    Z77A-G43 DDR3 1600  LGA 1155 ($ 97.00)  OR
    X79A-GD65 (8D) ATX DDR3 2400 ($ 291.00)
    I know the MS-7345 Platinum is off the production, but is there a board out there that's similar to the MS-7345 P-35?  {it's just easy to set up.}

If you already looked at X79A-GD65 (8D) and you are going for 16GB ram minimum or 32GB a Socket 2011 Core i7 would be a good choice. If you are just looking for an easy to setup system a X79A-GD45-8D would be of the same socket without any flaws but still somewhat less expensive.

  • Looking for a Rewind like app for Tiger

Back when I had my Performa 6360 running OS 8.1, I bought a utility called Rewind from Power on Software. The app could restore my Mac to an earlier date, or restore any file that had been deleted from the trash,etc.. It was more poweful than the similiar features found in TTP, and Norton.
Does such a utility exist for OSX? Rewind failed (and why Power on is trying to hide any indication that it ever existed) for a number of reasons. For one the utility slowed down my Mac by 50%, and for two the utility created huge archives, and often corrupted its restore rescue soft boot image.
I know such a utility may not be as essential in OSX as in the earlier OS. That os would often crash for one. My ibook has crashed no more than 20 times in the 10 months I have owned it. My Performa crashed that many times in 1 month alone.
    John

You wrote: "But I am afraid that Retrospect is not the same as Rewind, or Norton Go Back for Windows."True. However, since you have Retrospect, if you're using Backup Sets for backup, you can Restore a disk for which there is a Backup Set to any point in time for which a backup session exists.
Perhaps the reason there is no Rewind or Go Back for Mac OS X is because it is far more stable than Windows, as you note.
Next time you're looking for solutions, I recommend searching MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings are helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff. Both commercial and shareware/freeware solutions list on those sites and you'll generally find an answer faster than posting here.
You wrote: "Therefore I have come to the conclusion that this is yet another limitation of owning a Mac...No question my XP box has many advantages, but its also quite obvious that OSX is far more stable and secure than XP."Only you can decide for yourself which platform fits your needs best.
    Good luck!

  • Looking for a font like...

I've recently discovered this font and I really like it:
    It's drift (from Artwiz).
But I need to use accents and other characters (like ¿) and drift doesn't support those (actually I think none of the Artwiz fonts are capable to do that that). Well, the thing is that I'm looking for a similar font with those characters included.
    Hope you can help me.
    (Waiting for Daisuke_Aramaki answer )

Daisuke_Aramaki wrote:Take a look at screen from the sgi font package. Not sure about the accents, but since it's been around for ages it could render those. Lucida Typewriter is another one i can think of.
Thanks a lot! I never heard about sgi-fonts before, screen works perfect and looks "cleaner" than drift, which is satisfactory for my eyes.
    I'm ashamed of myself.
Google for the term 'pixel fonts'. Some specific fonts that come to mind are gohufont (search these here forums), progsole, and pragmata.
    Hope you find something suitable

  • Looking for a program like OnyX or Cocktail...

Well, I've got Windows 7 all up and running, and now, I'm looking for a program for Windows that's similar to OnyX. I know Windows has the "Disk Cleanup" feature, but it's really not that great.
Anybody know of any programs that would do the same things as OnyX or Cocktail for OS X on Windows?
    Thanks.

CCleaner is a must-have for windows. It cleans out invalid registry entries which slow your computer down. They update the software often.
    http://www.ccleaner.com/
If you're trying CCleaner, try Defraggler also (same dev). It has a feature that only defrags files that need it.

P.S. both of these are freeware

  • Looking for T-code like 9KE0 (Correction Between Profit center)

    Hi experts,
Iml looking for a T-code that allows me corrections from a profit center to another one. I used 9KE0 but it allows the correction without control.
(for example when i want to make correction between cost center, it's better to use KB61 than KB11N) I want the same solution for profit centers....
    PLZ HELP

like KB11N  is not there in PCA. you have to use 9KE0 and use (-/+) signs respectively and you can post the documents.

  • Looking for finger/LDAP like in.xfingerd

    Hi,
I am looking for a finger daemon that will work with LDAP, similar to the old in.xfingerd. As I understand it, in.xfingerd is no longer distributed as part of openldap.
I've looked at something called fingerbob, but this program recommends itself for internal network use only.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Google search for the specific item that you want and plenty of suppliers web sites will give you what you want, some free some for purchase.

  • Looking for a util to identify "abandoned" mailboxes in Exchange 2007

I am looking for a (hopefully free or inexpensive) tool to identify mailboxes that are no longer in use and candidates to be pulled and archived.  My exchange admins have not been able to find anything, so I am posting here in case one of you folks
might have run accross something.  The exchange environment is 2007 SP2.  One fact that might be an issue is that our desktops and user accounts are not in the same AD as the Exchange environment.  Overtime I am sure that we have had many accounts
removed from the desktop domain, without taking care of the equivalent account in the Exchange domain.

What I do is use PowerGUI (Free from Quest) and run a Powershell command.  I use Get-Mailbox with the option "Sort-Object
    -property
    'WhenChanged"
    and sort
the results by date.  This way your using when the last time the mailbox was used.
    Good luck
To build on SG_Dan's post, this command works for me in 2010:
    Get-mailbox | Select Name, Whencreated, Whenchanged | Sort Whenchanged | Export-CSV c:\InactiveMailboxes.csv
This will give u all mailboxes in your environment and show you the user, when the mailbox was created and when changed. It will sort by when changed and outputs it to a csv file for you to look at.

  • Looking for Bass plugin like Musiclabs 'Real-Strat'

Basically I'm looking for a very realistic Bass guitar AU that works similarly to Realstrat. It needs to cater for natural slides and ideally have performance repetitions. I've tried using the EXS patches to no success and I can't find anything on the market. There's loads of these things cropping up now (EZ Drummer etc) but I don't see a bass version...
Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Yes - wait for Spectrasonics' Trillian which should be here in a month or two.
Or, Scarbee do some excellent bass libraries for Kontakt (if you have that) - Black Bass etc which have performance articulations and intelligent on-the-fly automatic articulation switching.

  • Looking for an iPhone GPS app comparable to Android

I am getting ready to switch from my DroidX to the iPhone 4s.   The only thing that is holding me up is the GPS.  The one I have on my DroidX works great.  I can speak into the phone and say something like "Target", and it displays the nearest Target stores.  I select one, and it then gives me voice-enabled turn-by-turn directions.  If I go the wrong way, it recalculates and gives me new directions.    The maps are always up to date.  When we crossed from NY into Canada, the GPS adapted accordingly, and didn't miss a beat.
The native iPhone GPS app doesn't seem to be as good.  I'm spoiled.  Is there a comparable GPS app that will run on the iPhone?
    Thanks!

I'd recommend Navigon. There are different bundles (U.S. East Region, North America, etc...). . Yes, you do have to pay and it is a large file (1.7GB currently). However, updates are free. From my understanding, the Navigon app map data is stored on your phone and will work without a GPS signal. (I haven't had to use it in such a manner.) Google Maps Navigation for Android is great but a data connection is always required. And, in my experience, Navigon directions have been more accurate than Google Maps. The MapQuest app is free but ad content is visible.

  • Looking for a utility

I just deleted a LOT of old stuff off my iBook as I want to take it to England with me so that I can download the photos I take each day. It seems to be running very slow though. Is there a utility I can run that would make it run faster (like when I used to have a PC, I'd run defrag)?
    Thanks!
    Carole

    HI Carole,
How much free disk space is there?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk
PC vs Mac ... defrag. Not necessary on a Mac. The Mac OS X does it for you.

  • Looking for ram utility.

Is there a good ram test utility for the Mac. Received my new Mac Pro, and would like to check its 24 gigs of ram.

memtest - you can run in single user mode
you can run 48 or 96 concurrent tests in terminal to test 256 or 512MB chunks for 4-5 loops
you can use Rember which is just memtest with GUI but then you can't run concurrent smaller chunks as far as I could see
ECC is actually a trick to really testing RAM though.
And give AHT Extended Test a run -

  • Looking for Swing control like Explorer Bar

    Hi folks,
on Win XP you have in the Windows Explorer (file mode) on the left side this nice column showing additonal information about the selected file like creation date or a thumb of an image file. You can expand and collapse the information panels by clicking on an arrow icon in the head of the panel.
I haven't seen such a control for Java Swing. Maybe there is one but I'm searching with the wrong key word.
    Any ideas?
    Sebastian

I believe that a JTree with customized renderers
would bring you something close to what you expect. No, this would be a dirty hack. I was thinking more about a layout with several cells and in each cells some kind of control. Still I was hoping that something like that already exists.
