  • Looking for video effects

    Hello everyone:
I'm relatively new to Adobe Premiere CS4 (although I have some experience working with digital video). I seemed to have mustered the controls for Premiere itself but what seems to be lacking in my understanding is how to create certain visual effects with it. I'm looking to create a video clip with effects like in this particular video: (Sorry for the link but it's much more easy to show it.)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePDR3Pza1_g
What I'm looking for is this:
    1. The way they have the Id logo expand, shrink and distort in the very beginning.
    2. The "broken TV reception", or "TV-snow" effect. Also the effect how they have the picture twitch at some points.
    3. The way they implemented titles in the beginning -- "The Union Aerospace Corporation is the largest ..."
I'm not looking for a free solution in particular, so if someone knows some third-party plug-in, or something I can integrate into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'm not sure if it's Premiere or After Effects, either. So I apologize if I posted it in a wrong forum.
    Thank you in advance.

As for the picture jitter, I'm not sure I saw the appropriate effect for it, but I'll keep looking, maybe I missed something... You said there's an effect for that in AE. I don't really know it that well, so I'm curious, is it possible to take a track from PrPro, send it to AE and then back to PrPro (pretty much like with sound track and Soundbooth)?
Depending on the version of PrPro and whether it's one of the full "suites," you can use Adobe Dynamic Link (DL) to quickly move footage into an AE Comp and back again. Each version of what was once called Production Stuido has improved the function of DL.
Now for the jitter, I seem to recall a plug-in, something like "unsteady cam," or similar. It is just the opposite of "stabilization." Do not recall either the official name, or software company, or even if it was part of an Effects "pack."
Speaking of which, I know it's off topic here, but do you know any idea where can I get some sound effects like in that clip? Maybe even some sound bites/background music/anything.
Not at all OT. Here's a list of SFX and music sites. Some are free, some are for a fee:

    http://www.jamendo.com/en/albums
    http://www.5alarmmusic.com/
Also the voices in the beginning sound quite machine-like, is there a software I can use to dictate some text in?
Audition, SoundBooth, and several other audio editing programs have similar Effects, and many more can be added, such as Reverb and Delay. There are also some free VST plug-ins that do a similar distortion. This GOOGLE Search has yielded a bunch of sites for VST's. Some free and some for a fee.
Again, thanks for your input, you can't imagine how much time you've just saved me... As for the video I'm making, it's supposed to be a fun one. When I'm done with it (hopefully in a couple of weeks) I'll post a link here.
No problem. If I can track down that shaky-cam/destabilizer plug-in, I'll post a link to it.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Hallelujah, finally disabled OOPP. I use Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade to anything that ignores my settings. Been looking for this info for years!

As soon as Firefox came out with OOPP, I immediately asked how to permanently disable it and had a Firefox developer straight-up lie to me and say it couldn't be done without downgrading. Thank GOODNESS for the instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/713600?page=1 Finally, finally I have excised the hated OOPP!
I run Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade, ever, unless I see signs that Mozilla has radically altered its development direction and discarded most of the boneheaded, broken, anti-user development that has gone into versions more recent than Firefox 1.x. Actually making your mission statement more than an empty promise might be a good place to start.
Let's see...anything else? Oh yeah, any developer who advocates overriding or ignoring user settings, or taking control away from the user, should be kicked off the team. (and investigated as a possible Government mole, but that's a lot to ask for). I hear Konqueror and Safari are looking for new devs. It gets old fast when you try to get support and instead get haughty "You're doing it wrong, stop doing that" responses. I'm doing exactly what I intend to be doing and if you can't support that, someone else will. If you really gave a damn about your users, you might start by backporting security fixes to previous versions instead of spewing out a cacophony of incompatible new versions so rapidly you end up confusing and alienating users and making them switch updates off entirely. I mean seriously, what happens when Firefox hits triple digits? You could stick a decimal in front of it, and name that build after a historic baseball player who had that batting average. But even then you will run out of players in a few months.
It's truly sad. I switched to Firefox because it was the best browser. But Firefox has been backsliding horribly since around 2.0, and the other browsers seem to be in about the same boat. Firefox IS still the best browser - but only if you use an ancient, unsupported version. That's a big problem.

Using an obsolete version released [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/9.0.1/releasenotes/ December 11th 2011] is the exact definition of downgrading. It exposes your system to all the security vulnerabilities that have been fixed since then.
    * https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
Out-of-process plug-ins was made mandatory on Windows Vista and later because Adobe don't test Flash Player's protected mode with OOPP disabled. This change didn't happen until Firefox 14, so there was no need to go as far back as Firefox 9.0.1.
If you absolutely have to, you can disable OOPP by creating the ''MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS'' environment variable and setting its value to '''1'''. Firefox must be restarted for the change to take effect. This works in the current version of Firefox, so there's no need to use obsolete insecure versions.<br>
If you don't know how to create an environment variable, see the following article for instructions (the "Using the Custom Environment Variable" section is not relevant).

  • Looking for form filling app that can do this

I am looking for an iPad app that can do this. I know it would need some type of cloud/web based backend to setup and manage but I'm looking for the following:
We are a fire and security company. Many jobs require multiple documents to be created such as a service ticket, alarm activity log and maybe another form. The problem is if the tech needs to fill out the service ticket and activity log, those forms require in many ways the same information such as description of problem and end results and then each form has it's own separate info required. Right now the tech either has to retype all the similar data or try to copy and paste between the different fillable PDF files.
I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to select which forms are needed and then it will populate the required fields to fill in and when complete it will export it to PDF on the appropriate company document templates and allow signatures to be placed before printing via AirPrint and emailing it to customer and our office.
Does anyone know of a solution like this? It is not an easy thing to look for on Google.

To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

    "Motion 5" is your friend.
Michael Wohl has a nice 15 video series (free) about Motion 5 at http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/motion5101-overview-and-workflow-guide (right side)
This is a "teaser" series to sell his tutorials but it is really good. Just saw it yesterday for the first time.
While all you want is just to place pins, realize that Motion has so much more. All kinds of effects and they can be really customized. Maybe put their street address, contact name, and phone number by the pin?
Motion 5: cheap at $49.99 (just got my download two days ago)
    Motion 5: Support Community athttps://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/motion_5
If you're using the map for, say, deliveries, and use an iPad, what you could do is have a general map of the area imported into Motion, create the pins and whatever, then save (share?) it to the iPad.
Disclaimer: I have virtually no relationship with anything connected with this tutorial product, developer, or anything.

  • Looking for a specific effect

Does anyone have a quick answer to this:
I'm looking for an effect of subtle shaking text
as if you are reading the text on a subway.
I'm putting subway sounds in the background.
    Thanks,
    D

    Yet another method:
hit the record, press play, and jiggle your text dragging it with the mouse, that should create a more random motion.

  • Looking for a better resource to get a handle on using effects in after effects (CS6 BTW)

    Hello thanks for looking in,
I would like to get better control over Zooming. The Zooming I found in AE did not function when
dragged it into my effects controller...Is the only Zoom control really the "Scale" as found in Prem-Pro?
I could not find it in AE. I wanted to zoom over the shoulder of my actor and concentrate on what my Actor is looking at/pointing at. I could not find where that effect is at in AE.
If you know of a couple good tutorials to watch that show how to control the effecst in After-Effects it would be welcomed and appreciated. If you know the specific path to use to pan and
zoom for my desired shot mentioned, that too would be appreciated. One other ? I skimmed through "Creative Cow" but there are many videos and after watching a couple that were titled what
I want, were not what I was looking for. Spent an hour plus surfing before I came here to ask.
Are some of the effects only applicable to one or the other? IE: Movies or stills? If so is there a
manual that states what can be used with what? I tried dragging some of the effects into my effects area and they would not populate. IE: Zoom Forward. Only used for Text?
Thanks for your time with this in advance.

  • Looking for some good text effects type plugins for CS5 or CS5.5

I have a website that I am updating and I wanted to create some really cool text effects. The effects are something that I want to create in After Effects to give it the movie effect with sounds, etc.
What I'm looking for is some add-on software that can boost the text. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Since you're brand-new here, there's a VERY crucial question to ask: have you ever used After Effects before?
The reason: it's not the kind of application you use for a couple of tricks with and expect things to turn out right the first time.  It takes a good knowledge of the AE basics to make it do what you want.
So how do you get the basics?  You go here.
...and if you need this animation in a big hurry, you might want to have a Plan B ready to go.

  • This has got to be the worst 'Finder' in the history of the Mac. You can no longer find the file you are looking for without a painstaking search.

No longer easy to use. No longer logical. You now have to trawl through all the files just in case you missed what youi were looking for. Simple alphabetical order is all that is required not this over engineered confusion.

Clicking on the "name" column in any Finder list view will sort by name. Also, make sure you're not looking at the "All My Files" shortcut which is (in my opinion) confusing to many people and doesn't tell you where the files actually live.

  • New to photoshop, looking for advice on creating a stencil design, can anyone explain how to do this

    Heya,
So I'm hoping to get back into photoshop, my knowledge at the moment is pritty minimal, but i'm going to start learning how to use it again.
I'm new to this forum and don't intend to come on here often for advice but i hope that someone would be kind enough to point me in the direction that i'm looking for, i would be very grateful.
Firstly, i haven't yet decided which adobe photoshop product is best suited for what i'm looking for and i aim to go and explore the trials first to find out.
I'm looking to create designs with software that doesn't really have any limits in terms of creating designs.
I was wondering if someone could give me some links to a tutorial or something that explains how to create the stencilling effect in the image that is seen as a tree with a cityscape in the background, and possibly the other effects seen on the t-shirt. I know it might be a lot to ask but it would really mean a lot if someone could explain how you create effects like this.
    Here's the image:http://www.gifts.com/products/Kohls/Mudd-Tree-Tee?p=6886:1945256129:35
I know that the image is small, it was the best i could currently find, i hope that you can still see it well enough.
    Thank you in advance
    I really appreciate it!!

First you may want to google »photoshop tutorial distresssed«.
As for combining images like that a combination of Blend If-settings (one can split the handles by alt-click-dragging them)), Layer Groups set to Blend Modes other than Pass Through and Grtadient Maps may be employed to maintain high editability.
One could also just use the images as Layer Masks for Solid Color Layers (and use Levels or Curves to get the intended contrast), though.

  • I'm traveling to Europe for several weeks. What's the best converter to use and how will this effect my computer?

I"m traveling to Europe for several weeks. What's the best converter and how will this effect my computer over time?

Right! Our regular power bricks cover the gamut of 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz that will take care of everything save, say, a failing portable generator chugging in the tip of the Alps...
And you can drink the Apple koolaid and purchase the Official $40 Apple Adapter Kit ( http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B?fnode=MTY1NDEwMQ ) that will look chic and color matched to your brick, or do as Kappy says and get a regular equivalent from the nearest Radio Shack

  • Looking for an effect that I thought was in Audition, or maybe I am just crazy haha

For whatever reason I cannot find this effect (then again like I said, maybe I am just crazy because I might have seen it someplace else). Anyway, it is the effect that makes your audio come to a stop like it is playing on a turntable (losing power quickly). It sort of fades out while slowing down the audio.
I looked through the effects and didn't find it and I could of sworn I have seen it before. I tried recreating the effect from the FTT filters options but it just didn't sound quite right. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Effects / Time & Pitch / Pitch Bender / 'turntable losing power' preset
It is a really cool preset it is!
Only works in Edit mote, quite naturally.
(This doesn't mean your not crazy after all)

  • Im completely new to Mac. Im swapping my windows laptop for macbook pro and looking for network storage solution which the Time Capsule seems to do. Is it possible to use this as NAS for my desktop Windows PC - windows 7

Im completely new to Mac. Im swapping my windows laptop for macbook pro and looking for network storage solution which the Time Capsule seems to do. Is it possible to use this as NAS for my desktop Windows PC - windows 7

Broadly speaking I want some sort of network storage( wireless or through my existing wifi router) that I can access files for both my windows PC and Macbook and also to access files to my iPad/ iPhone. Some sort of backup and sychronisation so that I can access certain files remotely.
Buy a real NAS.. synology or QNAP are the standard... although companies like Netgear and Western Digital and Seagate make them as well.
There is no problem sharing between Mac and PC now.. you do not even need a NAS to do that.. you simply share the hard disk directly. Mac talk SMB.. everything talks SMB nowadays.. so it is easy.
ipad and iphone are not designed to use NAS.. they are designed to backup only to the cloud or itunes.. but you can load an app like file browser if you want.
    http://www.stratospherix.com/products/filebrowser/
Remote access to the Apple TC is somewhere between difficult, to impossible from a PC.. Apple use BTMM and iCloud but the service is not offered to PC.
A real NAS will offer HTTPS or SFTP or several other methods.. that both Mac and PC can use.
You simply plug it into the current wireless router.. it is a network device and assessable over the network. It is not necessary to buy another router.. in fact that is a waste.
