Looking for three-finger gestures

The touchpad settings have two-finger and four-finger settings. Are there drivers that have three-finger support? I really liked the three-finger flick for going back or forward using Chrome.
Thanks

@drj312 ,
From what you are showing here confirms that some software provides different options than others.
You may not find the three finger options available in all systems.  Options are built in to each device based on what they feel is needed.  Some systems have limited options some have many options.
With your envy you have more than one options for interface.  Use mouse, trackball,  Draw pad and the list goes on.
With different software you have the same options for example you can have a ton of input options for using adobe photoshop and if you look at comparable software for doing graphics they may have more or less options available.
Now I may have you misunderstood here but from what you are saying is when you use google chrome you are trying to get a 3 finger flick options and it works in other software such as Internet explorer and if this is the case then the issue is with the chrome software not giving that option of interface on your platform.
Can you clarify for me.

  • Three finger gestures not working on Mountain Lion

Since upgrade to Mountain Lion, gestures have become unreliable. Gestures for Mission Control, switching between full screen app, etc. (which are set with three fingre swipes) work sometimes but won't work most of the time. Anyone else facing the same problem?

I had this problem but I found it was the settings that changed when mountain lion was installed.
Mountain lion changed my three finger gestures to four finger gestures when swiping between full screen apps.
I found there were extra settings. Apparently when installing mountain lion my three finger gestures were changed to four finger gestures.

    Try System Preferences/Trackpad/More Gestures.

  • Three finger gesture to close windows or apps is gone.

I used this tool a lot on my Spectre Laptop with the control zone before Windows 8.1. During or after that update the ability to close a window or application by sliding fingers down the control zone or touch screen is gone. The option isn't even there any more.
I'm really not sure what Microsoft was thinking with the 8.1 update but it seems like they pushed everyone away from using the Start page to going back to old school desktop access. I know they were trying to appease a lot of people that didn't like change, but now my laptop just seems like every other laptop when I have to use my mouse to complete tasks where before I could use finger swipes to accomplish almost everything.

Hi there. The 8.1 update adds a black bar across the top with an X button. Closing apps is a bit different, but here are two articles on the topic:
How to really close Modern apps in Windows 8.1
How do I close an app?
    I hope this helps.

  • HT4721 how do you make the thesaurus present for three finger tap?

    Wow!
I'm not going to be of much use regarding answers but I sure am going to watching this post like a hawk for any replies. My package is a slightly diluted version of this and I do find the BBtalk and data limits hard to make the most of as well.
If nothing else this totally highlights how complicated BT have managed to make their packages.

  • Looking for finger/LDAP like in.xfingerd

    Hi,
I am looking for a finger daemon that will work with LDAP, similar to the old in.xfingerd. As I understand it, in.xfingerd is no longer distributed as part of openldap.
I've looked at something called fingerbob, but this program recommends itself for internal network use only.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Trackpad three-finger swipe goes to wrong window

I'm using a Magic Trackpad with a MacBook Pro running the current Mac OS 10.8.4. But I've had this problem for at least a year, so I'm guessing it also affects the last couple OS versions at least.
I have the trackpad configured to trigger Back and Forward commands with a three-finger left/right gesture (System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures > Swipe Between Pages > Swipe With Three Fingers). I use these gestures to move to the previous or next web page in Safari and to move to the previous or next document in BBEdit and Xcode. Similarly, I also use a three-finger up/down gesture to switch between the header and implementation files in Xcode.
This all works great for a couple weeks, then suddenly something breaks and this happens: if I change the active window by any method (e.g., clicking the window, pressing Command-Tab, clicking the Dock icon), my three-finger gestures will still be targeted to the old window, as if it is still active. If I scroll in the new window with a two-fingered gesture, that will fully activate it and then the three-fingered gestures will be correctly targeted again. I've tried changing the trackpad settings and changing them back, quitting individual apps and sleeping/waking the computer. The only solution I've found to make the gestures work properly at that point is to restart the computer, which is pretty time-consuming given the number of things I'm usually working on at once.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and more importantly does anyone know a solution that doesn't involve restarting? Maybe restarting an individual process from the Activity Monitor?

    JimG16,
I know it sounds silly but is the option for three finger swipe still checked.
System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures ( Tab ) > Swipe between full-screen apps.
Also on mine if I don't have multiple desktops created, Dashboard turned on, or on App in full screen mode it won't switch between them.
Summon Mission Control ( F3 on my keyboard ) > Along the top do you see Multiple Desktops or Apps in full screen.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • Three finger swipe with touchpad

I've recently installed Arch Linux on my 4,1 Macbook Pro alongside MacOSX.  Almost everything is working well except that I can't get applications (i.e. Firefox) to recognize three finger gestures.  My touchpad definitely supports this mode in MacOSX, and three finger middleclick is working properly in Linux.  I don't believe this is an application settings error -- at least in Firefox browser.gesture.swipe.up and browser.gesture.swipe.down have the proper settings.  Additionally, I don't believe this is a DE error (I use Gnome 3 fallback) because I deactivated org > gnome > settings-daemon > plugins > mouse in the dconf-editor.  Thanks for your help.

I had similar problems for Google Chrome.  I don't know if it was the same thing for other applications though because I immediately fixed in by doing the following:
In System Preferences, I switched everything that used three fingers to use four fingers.
I used Better Touch Tool to add in the three finger next and previous functions.
    Hope that helps

  • Magic Mouse - three finger double tap dictionary - not working

A three finger, double tap on my Magic Mouse will not activate a dictionary definition in any app. All other mouse gestures work fine. The keyboard combination for that feature works fine too. How can I get that three finger gesture to work?

No workaround so far with this problem and also no posts in the Opera forums. Just have to wait until Opera includes this functionality in their next release.
In the meantime you can help by joining the forum (takes a minute) and posting your concern. The more people that join and voice their complaint the faster something will get coded into their browser.

  • Trackpad Issue - Three-Finger Scrolling?

I can't exactly explain how it happen, but I'll try to explain what I did: I was messing around with my trackpad settings, specifically the three-finger dragging feature, while multi-tasking between some other programs. My computer started to hang up for a minute, probably because my multi-tasking was eating up my memory or CPU. In any case, after it came down, I closed out of a few programs and focused on browsing the Internet.
Normally, when I browse, I can swipe left or right with three fingers to navigate Back and Forward in my tabs' histories, but when I tried it this time, I found that all I could do was scroll left and right. I thought that checking and unchecking the "three-finger drag" box in my System Preferences would fix it, but it didn't work. The three-finger scrolling is now all that can be done; it overrides any previous three-finger gestures in all my applications. I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, but that doesn't work, nor does removing the appropriate .PLIST file in /Library/Preferences.
Is there any other way that this might be fixed? Am I missing something that I did not know existed before? I miss being able to go back a page.

Oh, well, I'm an idiot. Turns out I accidentally unchecked the Swipe Between Pages option.
    My bad.

  • Three finger lookup no longer opens dictionary

Following my upgrade to Yosemite I no longer can access the dictionary using the 3 finger lookup.  Also, when I attempt this, the keyboard then locks up.  The trackpad continues to work.  To get the keyboard back, I need to shutdown and then restart.  I am on a 13 inch Macbook Pro mid 2012.

so here's what i did to get three finger swipe to work as web navigation.
initially i had "Swipe between pages" set for three fingers and "Swipe between full-screen apps" set to four fingers.
i then switched "Swipe between full-screen apps" to three fingers which automatically unchecks the "Swipe between pages" box.
then i checked the "Swipe between pages" box again which set the web navigation to two fingers. i then confirmed that the two finger swipe did actually work as it, along with three finger, was NOT working before.
then i changed the "Swipe between pages" to three fingers which automatically changes the "Swipe between full-screen apps" to four fingers
now everything works as it did before!!!
EDIT: must note though since a lot of the comments on here are about navigating finder, i've never really used three finger gesters to navigate within finder since i almost always use column view with the arrow keys. i did test it though and it still appears that three finger gestures do not work in finder. all in all, there are a lot of areas which could use two, three, or four finger gesters to navigate from page to page in mavericks and even in previous OS X versions, most notably the Mac App Store and the iTunes stores. the solution above does however fix swiping forward and backward within Safari and Chrome.

  • How do I enable the three finger swipe gesture to go forward / backwards using Windows 8 for an elantech touchpad?

The three finger swipe gesture works fine within Windows and in other browsers, but in Firefox (which is my primary browser) it doesn't seem to work.
    Laptop: Asus N56VZ
    OS: Windows 8

    Hello Dylmar,
There are a few Firefox add-ons that may work for you. Give these a try:

  • Did Lion eliminate the finger gestures for show the previous page and show the next page?  I've checked system settings for the track pad and it looks like the got rid of one of my favorite finger gestures when browsing the internet.  How do I get it back

I've upgraded to LION. It looks like LION eliminates the finger gestures within internet browsing that used to yield navigating to the previous page or navigating to the next page.  I think it was a 3 finger swipe to the left and a 3 finger swipe to the right.  It looks like this has been eliminated.  I've gone into the system preferences and went through all the new settings for the track pad finger gestures.  I've not found a combination that allows me to swipe on the track pad to do the page forward / page back function.
How to I get this back?  I was my favorite one and now I can't get there!

For going back to the previous page try a 2-finger gesture. Two fingers in the other direction will take you back.

  • Three finger swiping for forward and backwards

I just recently installed Lion (Yay) and I noticed that they have taken out something that I really used a lot in Snow Leopard; the three finger swiping, that could navigate back and forward through pages on the web and replaced the need of using the arrow keys to navigate up and down in apps such as Mail. I loved this feature because it simply made it easier and enjoyable to navigate. I know that it has been replaced with a two finger swipe, but to my knowlege, this is only used it Safari not Chrome or anyother application. Now my question is "Is there a way to get it back?" I'm just looking for something that will at least get the two finger swipe to navigate more than the Safari Application.
    Cheers,
    Callum

So i was in the same boat, and I literally just figured it out like 5 mins ago.
Go into system preferences>Trackpad, click on the tab for More Gestures
Its the very first option you come to on that page, Its 'Swipe between Pages', I was used to 3 fingers left or right.
Ahh back to normal...On to other problems with Lion. Good Luck and I hope this helped.

three finger or two finger gesture to move back and forward between pages of file only work on safari, unlike with old os. this new lion won't let me do it. Any help?

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in  mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.
