Acrobat looking for joboptions file in a user folder that doesnt exist

I have a user that has Acrobat Pro XI installed on her machine. When she tries to create a pdf using Adobe PDF as the printer option, it produces an error that it cannot file the PDF_1.joboptions file. The error message indicates that it is looking for that file, in a User appdata folder, for a user account that doesn't exist, nor can it be made to exist on the machine. I have already attempted a repair of the installation... and I also have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it is still looking in the same location. Is there a registry key that can be altered for this, or a setting in Distiller or elsewhere to fix where Adobe PDF looks for this joboptions file? Thank you,

Vista looking for drivers and BSODs

I bought a 3TB MyCloud device a few months ago. I cannot get it to work properly with my Windows Vista desktop and support refused to help. They remoted in and accessed the device without using their software and claimed it was a Windows problem, not theirs. When I connect the device directly to my Ubee Wireless Router/Switch, Windows Vista immediately sees it as new hardware and tries to find drivers for it. Of course WD does not provide these. In Device Manager, it shows up under Other Devices with a warning indicator because there are no drivers installed. I was able to copy files to the device, but when I try to access them from the device, my Windows Vista desktop gets a BSOD (this happened after the call to support). I've now disconnected the device from my network as the constant BSODs damaged my computer. The device works with my Windows 8.1 computer, but has problems with my Sony Blu-Ray player connected wirelessly to the network. I've posted about this in a different thread. Is there a way to get this working properly with Windows Vista?

Your solution doesn't relate to my problem. I did not have a problem getting to or seeing the device in Vista. There were two problems and I believe I've cured both of them, though I don't know how. Problem 1: Vista keeps asking for drivers. When I connected the device to my network, Vista would see the device and try to locate drivers as if it had found a new printer. It couldn't find any so I had to close the driver request windows without finding drivers. The device then would show up in Device Manager under Other Devices with a yellow exclamation mark indicating the drivers were not loaded correctly. After several BSODs (for a different issue), I ran SFC and CHKDSK on my computer. Neither program found a problem. Then when I tried to connect the device again, Vista started looking for drivers and I walked away from the computer for the evening. When I had come back, it said the drivers were loaded. In Device Manager, Vista shows a new device category named "Western Digital NAS" with two devices installed: My Cloud Network Media Server and My Cloud Network Storage. The driver problem is now solved but I don't know how. Problem 2: Files I had loaded onto the shares to learn how to use the device can be seen in Windows Explorer. That was never a problem. However, as soon as I clicked on a file, the screen would scramble and then BSOD. This only occurred with files loaded onto the MyCloud device. After some blue screens, I started up into Safe Mode with Networking. I was able to click on the files without crashing, though Media Player wouldn't play them or even start in Safe Mode. I then did a clean boot and it tested okay. As I added items in MSCONFIG, the problem would not recur. There was one item that prevented me from even setting MSCONFIG to do a normal startup, and that was Kaspersky Internet Security 2015. Not only that, but I couldn't start the software at all. I did a complete removal of Kaspersky and then reinstalled it. I no longer have any BSODs. Both issues, as mysterious as they were, have mysteriously been resolved. I have a DLNA issue, but that's in another post. I also have a new issue with the WD My Cloud desktop app but I don't need to use that and if I do, I'll start a new discussion.

The password is set on the WiFi router providing the service, by the owner of the network to prevent unwanted "guests" accessing the network. The only way to know it is to ask the owner permission to use the network. Otherwise, you have to find a free WiFi hotspot that doesn't require a password.

System files are hidden by default in Finder now, search for what you want then click the little + button on the top right of the bar that appears when you do a search. A new bar comes up and click the first box (that says "Kind"), change it to "System Files". Then change the box that says "aren't included" to "are included" and your file should show up.

Found a burned chip. Looking for name and type.

Hello again, AMB group. I looked for similar pictures/ posts, but I did not find something with the detail here. Anyway, I've got a problem where my hard drive won't even spin up (seems like no power to the drive) but everything else checks out fine on the logic board. Micromat TT and the Hardware Test disk give it OKs. So I went through the process of taking out the logic board looking for problems, and I've found a super duper one. Here is a link to the picture of the burned chip, located right below the processor.

I've ordered a couple bad logic boards, hoping one of them will have a salvageable chip. But I'm wondering if this is a programmed, proprietary chip, or if I can get one from Newark or something. I think I will take it to an electronics shop to have them solder the new chip on; I don't have a micro soldering iron.
Look forward to any thoughts on replacing the chip. Of course replacing the logic board is a possibility, but you can see this might be cheaper, because a bad logic board runs less than $15 usually.

Have you tried a different HD and/or tried this HD in an enclosure or another PB? Obviously that chip looks bad, but the motor mechanism or the electronics on the HD could be bad, having nothing to do with the chip.
Was everything working fine (all ports etc.) before this?
Regarding the chip itself: if the HD checks out ok, the chip should be an interesting proposition. I can't recall ever hearing of anyone replacing any soldered on part of a logic board. Even for certified repair shops, the "fix" is to replace the LB, and faulty boards are sent to specialized repair centers with the specialized equipment to tackle the job. I hope you are successful and will post back with results. Good luck.

Live CD for newbies and dial up users

From comments I am receiving abut the usage of AL-AMLUG Live CD, it helps newbies to install the native Arch Linux in HDD. Without any "headage" it does all the major configures (X, sound, network, and LILO) for you. The "hd-install" includes Hwd (hardware detect) and net-install with DHCP & ADSL setup.
Does sounds good for a newbie? Anything good also include a "but...". Disadvantage with hd-install, in my opinion, you will miss the learning of Arch Linux's configure system what you may need for post configure of new hardwares and programs..... sooner or later you have to become an Archer
The live CD is also for the "dial up users" with 56k modems, when the packages in Arch Linux's latest installer CD getting outdated. Example, AL 0.5 was released July 21, 2003. The current live CD 0.4.2 with the base, KDE and common packages updated on February 12, 2004.

GNOME users may not be happy. For your information, there is still 280MB space on the live CD for more packages. Total space: 1.3GB (compressed to 700MB).

after week of not even touching this thread i still have to say that i fail to see what is derogatory in my comments. derrogatory is where you put down something for the sake of putting something down. i hardly ever do something like that. i may be blunt but hardly ever derrogatory.
look in the mirror? i have done that alot i have looked in the mirror i have tried to understand the way some people came to the conclusioned they did about me. perhaps i a m blind or stupid but when have i ever not tried to get something positive for the community? when i look in that mirro i see someone who put alot of time and effort into helping the community with problems. i see somebody that where ever they have gone always express what they feel despite what blowback may happen. i don't believe in bottling things up. in the end though all people see is the negative.

there are lots of ways to help a friend out installling any distro. but in the end if you don't know the guts then expect things to go bad at some point. linux is not designed for someone who just wants the computer to do everything. indeed if linux were like that then there would be a whole host of security risks presented.
as for me slamming arch. well if you didn't notice i having only been too willing to always air out arch's dirty laundry. i have been harping on the documentation and so have many others. should those others move on too while the developers/community continue to bury their heads in the sand and feel they can keep marching on? if somebody didn't do who would and where would arch be then?
i am here EVERYDAY. EVERYDAY since i joined this forum. i have asked and answered questions, i contributed on the irc channel, i worked for the distro everyday for almiost a year. i know what was going what went on. i still point out some thigns to aid the developers. in the end my view of kiss never really strayed from the documented version of arch's kiss statement and i felt arch had and was continuing to. there were just too many small things that bothered me and i decided to use another distro.
now that i have moved on though i needed something to keep my desire to help occupied and crux does not have a forum nor can i help out that much on irc because it is distro mainly used by europeans and our clock are just not synced. i still know arch fiarly well and actually crux is very similar so why not help. i have nothing against the community.
why do i get bitter then. well to beat dead horse. i try to help or try to voice an opinion and the response i commonly get back a tirade against my person. now it is at the point now where some people do not or refuse to see any constructive or helpful posts i make here. take al ook at rasat he is someone who has been the victim of many a criticism from me and he never once made any insults towards me nor did he ever not put the blinders on to what i was saying. after nearly a year of taking the odd jab from me he still knows exactly why make the comments towards his projects i do.
in the end i don't really care what he does as his work does bring people to the arch community. i just try and make sure that he can design his projects in such a way as to not create a pile of mindless users that need their hand held through everything. from what i remember of early versions of hwd for example he made it still a very hands on approach for the user. ultimately that is what i wanted him to hear and he did.
if you don't think that the system taking control of your work environment is a burden on the community take a look at just how much help we need to give here and on the mail list. if people had come from a more hands on environment they would rarely have to use irc, forums or mail lists. linux is hard to get used to because it is desigened to be hands on sytem and anyone who does not want this should really not be using it. thats mean but true. with ease comes security risks.
belive me i am lazy i came from the least hands on distro before arch and i would NEVER go back to distro not like arch or crux or ... i have learned alot and there is very few issues i cannot figure out. arch's kiss approach taught me alot and crux has brought me back to it.
in the end i am here to help and if you doubt that then well you just should not bother with any of my posts because i WILL piss you off eventually whether i am trying to or not.

What enhancements were you adding to the Workflow Reassign/Delegate feature, which included being able to add comments? A good idea is to look for any differences between how workflow implements the reassign feature, and your customization.
Also, make sure you only use the Public documented PL/SQL APIs and do not update the tables directly to ensure no Support or Upgrade Issues.

I am using Stand alone Workflow 2.6, In my workflow process
which is an Issue tracking system which is working fine. On Enhancement I would like to create my own RE-ASSIGN function which will, Change the ownership of an issue totally to other user.
For this I Created a package(CHANGE_OWNER.CREATE)which will show list of Users and Comment field(Just like Re-Assign).
Here user can pick other user, and add comment,
once submit for that Item key I am updating the workflow notification table so that paritcular issue ownership will be changed.
In my workflow process I created a lookup code called "Change Owner". On click of Change Owner it will call the Function
in workflow process which will call CHANGE_OWNER.CREATE, here
the workflow process supposed to wait and get the User to be
changed. BUT THE PROCESS IS NOT WAITING, IT JUST DISPLAYED THE
SCREEN AND CONTINUED THE WORKFLOW PROCESS. I WANT THE MY
WORKFLOW PROCESS TO BE ACT AS RE-ASSINGN BUTTON WHICH WILL WAIT
FOR THE USER INPUT.
HOW TO DO IT.

Looking for Java Reference Manual, Not User Manual

I'm a mainframe programmer learning Java. I'm going thru "The Complete Reference Java" by Schildt. In the mainframe world, manuals are usually broken into reference manuals (shows just the syntax) and user manuals (shows how to do things). I'm looking for a pure Java reference manual that strips away all of the verbose explanation of how to do things and just lists in an organized way the pure syntax of Java. Does anyone know of such a manual? Everything I've found so far falls more into the user manual category that perhaps contains the syntax somewhere (if you look for it), but is overburdened with tons of explanations. Thanks.

Thanks. What you provided is a bit like a reference manual and user manual combined into one. It has the complete syntax along with plenty of explanations. BTW, I think I know where Schildt got most of his material for his Complete Java Reference book. It's almost like he took the Java Language Specification book and reorganized it into a tutorial format.
