Looking for very simple drawing app for tablet [Solved]

Hey,
Im running Arch with XFCE on an Asus T91MT tablet/netbook, with a resistive screen & pen.
I'm looking for a very basic, lightweight, tablet-oriented drawing/sketching/doodling app, to make notes, draw ideas/concepts, etc.
I've tried MyPaint, which doesn't work because the screen isn't pressure sensitive (I would only need one pen size anyway), and a few other apps.
SmoothDraw (windows app) is exactly what i'm looking for, but it doesn't install on wine. And wine doesn't help with the "keeping it light" idea, so I would prefer something native.
Any suggestion is welcome!

  • Looking for a simple drawing application for my grand-daughters

Well, that's more or less it, I'm looking for a simple drawing application for my grand-daughters. In the children section of iTunes store, there's only a few books and nothing more. I bought the iPad mainly for my grand-children to teach them a bit and I don't find interesting things for them.
Can anybody help me with that?

Brushes is a nice finger drawing app. Since you didn't say how old they are, I don't know if the interface is to difficult for them to use.
Sketchbook is another nice drawing app.
    Neither are free.

If you get a network timeout error, then disabling the computer's security software duirng the download and update usually resovles that error.
If that is not the error what is the wording of the error message.
Note that only a 3G or 4G iPod can go to iOS 5.  A 2G iPod can only go to iOS 4.2.1

  • Looking for a high-res drawing app for the iPad

I've tried a few of the available iPad drawing apps like Sketchbook Pro and Brushes. It's a little hard to tell, because documentation tends to be short on details, but it appears that most of them (with the exception of Brushes) only let you work and export images at 1024 by 768 resolution. That isn't really high enough resolution for professional work.
Brushes is the only exception I've found. You work on the iPad in Brushes at 1024 by 768, but they have this OS X app that can convert your exported images to a higher res.
To me that's crazy awkward and time-consuming, and I think Brushes is OK as a drawing app, but not necessarily what I'm looking for.
Can anyone give me some better insight into the matter?
Is there some underlying technical reason that all of these apps have a hard limit of 1024 by 768 resolution?
Is there an app other than Brushes that can produce pro-level (high resolution) image files on the iPad?
    Thanks,
    JS

  • I'm looking for a simple DJ app

    Hi Folks,
I hope this is the best place for this question!  I'm looking for a simple App that will allow me to add music on the fly to a playing playlist. iTunes DJ does most of what I want but doesn't allow me to drag and drop order or remove songs.  I don't need turntables or eq or anything like that.  Just a simple way to create playlists on the fly with the ability ro rearange the order, add and remove songs on the fly. Also, if there's a better forum for my question, please advise.
    Thanks!

  • Very simple Programming software for OS X Lion.

I'm basically new to Mac and to OS X Lion, so be easy with me if my questions are rather simple than what i'm thinking. I recentely purchased a Macbook, switching from windows pc after many years of using it. My new Macbook pro came with OS X Lion and with several awesome software preinstalled, iLife etc... amount them was one called iWeb which is a very interesting software to build web site, back to the time when i was using windows, i was using dreamweaver to build amature web site, for members of my family and forth, with iWeb i realise that things are much eaiser, all i have to do is drag and drop, input my text, or resize windows and so on, i do not need to tap in any code as iWeb is doing that job for me. It's a very great app for amature. After using iWeb for a good while and really enjoy using it, i'm now wondering if there are the same kind of software to build really simple application for mac. Simple application such as memo notes, simple dairy with calendar inside, etc... i know about the Xcode, but that require me to tap in codes and more over Xcode is just too huge for me to finish learning all the featuers it has in no time, so no i don't want to use Xcode because i don't know how the codes for creating cocoa apps for OS X Lion.
If you know any other programing softwares for mac which really doesn't require much of coding but instead work almost like dreamweaver or iWeb for web site building, please advice me here, it doesn't matter to me if it's free or shareware.
Thanks in advance for your input and your time.

  • Looking for a simple audio reciever for my Airport Express!

Im looking for a very simple audio receiver.
I dont need a ton of bells and whistles. I just need a small receiver I can plug my Airport Express into, and then some speakers from it.
I dont need multi things like DVD, AUX, TAPE, CD, TV and all of that. I just need one... Dont need AM/FM... just a box to plug to airport express, to some speakers, on/off switch, audio up/down....
I am basically going to put airport expresses all over my house, then find this audio receiver I am describing, hook speakers to it and call it a day.
Does anyone have ideas for this? I have checked the major electronics stores and I am not able to find anything that is this small and subtle.
Any ideas would be great! THANK YOU

  • Drawing apps for Android?

Why is this app among other drawing apps not available for Android?  I'll beat a dead horse with the hope that someone eventually takes the "one correspondence represents 1500 actual people with the same view" formula seriously.
I've been a faithful Apple user since I started in graphic design 20 years ago.  Full CC member and ipad owner.  But let's face it - drawing with your finger or nub sized equivalent sucks.   Using a pen that compensates for this grid-based touch system is better, but it still misses the mark by a lot.  SO after buying such a pen and having gone through all the highest recommended apps, I come to the same conclusion - only now I've spent a fair amount of money and wasted a lot of time.  So I buy a Galaxy Note - now we're talking.  Digitized stylus and the right technology to use it and it's pretty close to actually drawing.  I figure that since this is where it's at, and no-one disagrees that drawing with a fine-point pen beats drawing with an eraser that tracks an eighth of an inch off from it's target, good apps for drawing should be a no-brainer.  And Adobe should be at the top of this development.
What gives?  Are there truly not enough illustrators or people in the creative field who want this to make it profitable?  I find that difficult to believe. Either way, some answer might provide some insight into this absurdity.

actually spoke with someone who was involved with the brush app as well as the Adobe Drive app and what they said was that the iPhones were a lot easier to continue developing because of the graphics processor being the same in all of the iPhones or at least the same architecture. He commented that they were working on android development but that it would take A bit more time. I know that in today's society a year can seem like a long time but when you consider that they're giving these apps away for free and the amazing power i'm just excited to be able to have them. In due time I'm sure that they will have an android app out as well but their original development was for the iPhone platform. As a teacher and a lower income school where a number of students have android devices because they're cheaper I too look forward to the day when Adobe releases these apps on the android platform as well.

  • Is there a list of apps with Airplay support for iPad 1 (drawing apps in particular)?

I'm interested in a drawing or painting application that supports Airplay for iPad 1 in hopes to use the iPad as an electronic chalk board when coupled with a big TV. iPad 1 does not support Airplay Mirror so the app itself has to be able to stream screen content (just like iTunes for music on iPad 1). Have been searching for hours. None explicitly say that they do and I can't just buy every application until I find one that suppports airplay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have some bad news for you. Of the very few drawing (including even photo retouching apps like iPhoto) apps that do support TV out are either iPad 2+ only (iPhoto) or while supporting wired external monitor connections, don't support the same over AirPlay.
The closest hit is ArtStudio for iPad. On my iPad 1, it works just great over VGA / HDMI (that is, over wires) but not AirPlay. None of the other drawing apps I've tested (ArtRage, Draw! etc.) support external wired monitors, let alone AirPlay ones. iPhoto, in addition to not being a truly painting / drawing app, only shows  the results of operations, not even the interim state and is, therefore, completely useless. (And it's iPad 2+ only.)
All in all, upgrade to iPad 2/3 and use AirPlay mirroring.

  • Simple macro app for Macintosh to just click the 'Delete' button?

Here's a problem I can't seem to figure out.  We use Microsoft Exchange at work, and once or twice a year I get a message that my mail account is almost full.  But deleting old emails is an extremely tedious process; I have to do them either one at a time or in batches of about 15, either of which takes too much time. I do them from the Exchange web app since I use the Mac Mail client.
So I'm looking for a simple way of automating my mouse clicking the "Delete" about 1,000 times in a row.  Something really simple... is there anything built in to the system software that will do this? Or a really SIMPLE and cheap/free app or utility that will do this? (I'd appreciate limiting any answers to solving this immediate problem.. I've been all over the Exchange setting & rules with our system email admin and nothing seems to work.)
    Thanks in advance.

    You could
    1. Copy/Paste the completed 25-step WMD action fifty times into the same workflow:
    -- Watch Me Do
    -- Watch Me Do
    -- Watch Me Do
    etc.
    OR, better
    2. Add a loop action -->
    -- Watch Me Do
    -- Loop
    ----  Loop automatically
    ------ Stop after --50-- times

  • Looking for a database collection app for children

    Hi,
I am a primary school teacher and I am looking for a interesting way for my children to learn about databases and spreadsheets this term using the Ipads. I have looked at using Numbers but I am looking for an app that is child friendly and looks at them creating their own fields and collect their own data. Ideally want them to also use the camera to collect data and do majority of this on the ipad rather than sync it from a pc. Anyone kow any good apps for this?

    That looks perfect!
I googled at first, and found a site with an alphabetical list of about 30 different database options. I got about 4 into it before deciding I should ask the experts. :)
    Thanks a lot!

  • I'm looking for a simple Notebook template for Pages.  Any help?

I'm looking for a simple "notebook" looking journal that can be used in Pages.  This can also be a journal that has dates; actually, that is preferable, but just a notebook is a minimally satisfactory template.

    Hi Mark,
No need to restrict your choice to the preset Pages Templates. Do a web search and choose a Word template. Pages will open Word documents and templates. Or design your own:
This is a Table I inserted into a blank Pages Word Processing document. Format the date column in Inspector > Table > Format > Cell Format. Select the first Date cell, then drag the fill handle down to increment the dates.
