i went to a computer store today they only had a few and the only one that exported it into firewire said nothing about Macs on the back so i didnt buy it..just looking for something not to silly exspesive just to have rca and s video inputs and a FW output..thanks

I use the Canopus ADVC-100 and ADVC-110 (current model). They work great. Street price is around $220 USD The Datavideo unit that Ian Brown mentioned is a good unit also. For what it's worth, I would be cautious about the Miglia Director's Cut boxes, a fair number of people I know have had problems with them.
You don't have to worry about Mac vs PC if you are using an external converter.
The other thing you might consider, is to use your video cam as your analog/digital converter - as long as it supports AV/DV passthrough.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in your Firefox settings and see if it helps:
From the Firefox menu, go to '''Options''' and click the '''Advanced''' panel, then select the General tab. Clear the box in front of "Use hardware acceleration when available" so that it is unchecked, then restart Firefox. Over a few weeks now my connection has seem to of deteriorated quite badly now to a point everything runs terrible. I have tried to do a pin reset on my HH5, no joy also I have reset my Openreach box no joy there, I have also connected straight to my HH5 without the Openreach box connected and nothing changes, I keep the openreach box connected because the HH5 seems to reboot and this makes my connection worse but it reset about a few days ago with the Openreach box connected and now it is really bad also no difference also connected straight to the HH5. My Download has plumeted from a steady 24.2MB down to now 18.8MB and my Upload has gone from 1.91MB down, now to an awful 0.67MB, surely something is really wrong with the connection and needs looking into also my Pings are just awful as well, its hitting 66ms from a steady 15ms and no Jitter, my estimates back when I first had Infinity installed where 19.1/2.90MB so its below my contract anyway, the strange part about it if I connect direct to my HH5 and look at the stats in the Helpdesk section it reads max attainable rate 24558/2208 but my actual speeds are no where near that. I will post an img below taken via ethernet cable today, could someone please seriously have a look at it for me. I don't want to take this as I am just complaining cause it is not good at all it seriously needs looking into for me please, thankyou:-

Can a mod please please help me out or someone from BT I have ran another test now and its going down further this time now and all the time something is wrong. I've asked my parents and they have said they don't want an engineer coming out at all they have made this very clear to me and bothering them again they say, my backs against the wall with this issue, I have explained to them an engineer needs to come out to fix the problem but my dad seems to think they can fix it without an engineer coming out to the house cause one did before a while back without coming out so hes remembering that and trust me hes a rite stubbon git when it comes to this sort of thing the internet is really unusable at this moment, its just awful and I don't know what to do for the best???!.:-

Audigy 4 Breakout Box/Firewire Prob

Hi. Just purchased a new computer within the last month with a SB Audigy 4 Pro. I couldn't get the breakout box to respond after repeated attempts, so I assumed it was faulty hardware and had a replacement shipped. The replacement came and I am having teh same problem with it, no breakout box response. I tried plugging the firewire power supply for the breakout box into a free firewire port from teh motherboard, and got the power LED to light up, so assumedly the hardware/cable/PCI card are all working and it was a driver error. After I got the LED light, I went ahead and wiped the Audigy drivers, and reinstalled. After a reinstall, the breakout box powered on in both the motherboard, and Audigy firewire ports. It worked with limited functionality (Headphone/microphone jacks were not working) for about an hour as I toyed with settings to attempt to get those imput output jacks to respond, and after a certain settings change, the soundblaster software required a restart. Since that restart I am back to square with no functionality in the Audigy firewire port and a power LED light in the motherboard port. Is there somewhere I can download an updated firewire driver for the SB, and if I can get the box to work again, what could be causing the unresponsi've I/O ports on the front?

Alright some success again. After a little playing with the adlink cable and a couple restarts, I have the breakout box working again. TThe power and CMSS lights are on and the volume control knob works. I am still unable to hear any sound out of headphones, or to get any input from the mic port. I have tried 2 sets of heaadphones, and a second converter for the plug with no success. The sound is muted from the speakers when I insert a headphone into the jack, so the system is recognizing headphones as present, I just don't get any sound. Any suggestions?

Let's reset the type tool. To do that, on the type tool's option bar, look for a box with lines in it on the right. Click on it to reset the tool.
If that does not fix it, reset preferences. To do that, go to Edit>preferences>General. Look for this:
Close PSE, then launch.

Breakout box question

Hi all anyone recommend a cheap but decent breakout box that will work with my FCP set up. I have a G5 a sony DSR Dvcam deck and a mixer with xlr outs. Someone suggested a black magic card with lots of audio outs but its £500! Anyone know of something that will work for less. I'm running FCP 6. I have a mic connected to the mixer and want to use the mixer to monitor the levels into and out of the deck, FCP and mic.

Connect the mixer to your DVCam VTR's analog audio inputs and outputs. When you need to record with the mic to your Mac, simply switch the DVCam VTR's input to Video or S-Video. When monitoring the output of FCP, switch the DVCam VTR's input to DV (Firewire).

Good lord, you're right!
Why did your 'Pro' come without the breakout box? That's unfortunate as the card itself has reduced connectivity. You'd have to connect the Digital I/O module to the digital port on the external box which apparently you don't have.
Sorry but you need the box! Either that or dump your Audigy 4 Pro and get the regular model. Or better yet an X-Fi XtremeMusic (?50) -- Same quality as the models 5 times its price, and still does it all in hardware (it's the SAME card, comes without the breakout box, BUT you can attach the digital I/O module to it, unlike the Audigy 4 Pro)

You should be able to accept this message, it will cause existing music, photos (not camera roll) and videos (also excluding those in camera roll) to be removed and replaced with those from this computer. All other user data on the iPad will be unaffected.

How to look into a method?

I am wondering if there is a way to look into a method simply by its name? As we all know, we can get the detail description of most of the classes in JAVA by browsing online documentation:
- API & Language Documentation
- Java 2 Platform API Specification .
On the page, there is a left frame listing class names in alphebetical order. By clicking on a particular class name, we can get the description of that class on right frame.
It's very convenient.
Therefore, I want to know if there is a way to get the description of methods in the same manner as classes. Is there a webpage which lists most of the methods in JAVA language and its descriptions? So that we can check the detail of a method without knowing which class it belongs to. I think it should be very useful. Because there are times we see a new method name and unfortunately we don't know which class it belongs to. Thus, it is a bit difficult to check the detail of that method because we don't know its class name.
That is why I am looking for a way to check the detail of a method in the same manner as a class.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro- Breakout Box/ AD_LINK Cable Broke

I purchased an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro from Creative's eBay store this past January. It was described as refurbished with a -year warranty. It worked fine for several months under both Windows XP 64-bit and Linux (amd64 arch). Then, the breakout box just stopped working. At first I thought it was a driver issue, so I tried reinstalling everything- no luck. Then I realized that not even the power light came on on the box. I tried putting the card in another PCI slot, rearranging cables.
I contacted Creative several months ago and after several email arguments and hour-long phone calls, I gave up. They insisted that they only offer 90-day warranties for their ebay auctions... Being so much later, the ebay auction link was dead- no way for me to prove anything. Creative's best offer was to RMA it for $0+shipping or something ridiculous like that.
I don't want to buy a whole new card because I now it works to some extent- it shows up under 'lspci' in Linux and in Windows Device manager. I suspect it is either the cable or the breakout box but I really have no idea.
Any way I could test this- and even if, how can I purchase just the box or the cable by themselves- I couldn't find anything online.

No, I'm afraid it is not, the X-Fi does not have the same connector for that breakout box.

I guess I spoke too soon! I really can't believe this nightmare is not over yet! My account is still wrong. The credit that I was due totaled $63.00 I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72. I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible? None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong. Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20. The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money. I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change! I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's. so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account. Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end! I need real help!

If the 12's logic board is trashed, I don't think you can get into FireWire Target Disk Mode. The computer has to start to get to FWTDM. Will it starte and run at all?
If it won;t start, you will have to go inside and extract the hard drive. Then get this gadget:
Newer Technology Universal Drive Adapter USB 3.0/2.0 - connects any 2.5", 3.5" or 5.25" drive
It allows you to connect a bare drive to another computer that has USB. It will act just like an external disk drive. Assuming the 12's drive is not damaged due to the LB failure, you can retrieve files quickly.
