Looking to become an PP Instructor?

What's the process.Whats the Opportunities?
I saw the certification page but that is very thin on the study material and when and how testing works.
Any Instructors out there that can lend a hand?
Thanks

Lot's of high schools have classes in programming to get you started. If yours does not, check out a local community college. There are also online classes. Python, Java, C++, Ruby and many other programming languages are out there. There is always something new coming along, so don't worry if the one you choose - or the one your school requires - is not perfect for you.
Look for a project to get you started. I always found the most difficult thing was to find something worth doing, so I could stick with it.
Learn how to design correct and efficient code. Learn how to debug and document your projects. Learn how to work with others to build bigger projects. Almost nothing important is ever done by one person anymore. If you can't work with a group you won't get far.
Take a break when you need it. Programming is hard work. If you fall so far in that you can't get out, you'll burn out.
Best of luck.

  • Looking to become a bit more involved?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but i'm sure you can move it.
I've been using arch for about 3-4 months now and it has been one of the best distros i have used.
I was using gentoo but got fed up compiling everything arch has provided the just the right mix of binary/configuration.
Anyhow i'm looknig to become a little more involved to see i can put something in to help people get more out of Arch
I've started learning Python / QT programming for a few little projects of my own. (ex Windows Program)
where would be the best place to start i'm already familer with the ABS / AUR system
    Thanks
    Matthew

You can alway maintain some packages in the AUR.  Good quality PKGBUILDs are always useful.  You don't necessarily need to find a package that is not there either, as there are plenty of orphans.  It is always best if you adopt something you use though...
There are >500 bug in the bug tracker.  Try find some solutions to some. A good list of old candidates to solve is here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bug_Day_TODO .   Even confirming a bug is real can be a great help.
    Other ideas:
      - contribute to the wiki. Help with translations if you are multilingual
      - answer questions in the forums/irc
      - contribute patches to one of Arch's projects. See http://projects.archlinux.org/
      - enable testing and find bugs before they reach the main repos.
      - I am sure there are more ideas....
In any case, find something that interests you and go for it.  There are plenty of people who can point you in the right direction if you get stuck.

  • Looking for Adobe certified instructor in Munich, Germany

Hi, I am looking for an Adobe certified instructor who could spend 1/2 day in our institute to go through Adobe Acrobat Digital Signatures options & how best to use these with certificates. At the moment we use the signing process but keep bumping into issues. It would be good to get an overview of how it all works other than through an E-seminar. I have gone through quite a few of them - they are good but we would really need a "hands-on"  meeting.

    Welcome to the discussions!

  • Looking to buy my first MacBook Pro, advice needed

Hey all, this is my first post. I am looking to become a MacBook Pro owner for the first time. I have an iphone5 and an ipad but have decided it's time to step up. I have decided to give my ipad to my wife because she likes the more portable device and just uses it for web browsing and Facebook.
I am looking for opinions, I am currently leaning towards getting the 13" macbook with retina display. I will be using it mainly for Internet browsing. Downloading music and films. Managing them and using iTunes etc. will also be looking to stream what I download to my ps3 if that is possible. I am not a massive user in terms of I do not video editing or music editing professionally but like the idea of iPhoto and iMovie just for playing around and seeing what I can do. Could turn into a new hobby for me.
I had a windows laptop previously and it became riddled in viruses and slowed down so quickly so will not be getting one of those again. In terms of MacBooks do they generally stand the test of time? It will not be slowing down on me anytime soon will it?
My main concern is the storage. I feel my best bet is the 256gb hard drive and an external hard drive also.
Is there anything I need to consider other than what I have mentioned above before buying one having never used a mac before? Does the App Store work the same as on the iphone? Are there any really good apps to get me started?
    All advice welcomed. Thanks

Depending on your intended use, you may want to max out the RAM to 16GB. This will future proof your Mac to some extent.
Althouigh your MacBookPro won't slow down over time, OSX RAM requirements may increase with future updates.
I agree a good backup plan is essential. Time Machine for incremental backups and a cloning strategy with an offisite rotation is ideal.
You may want to consider storing Music/Video on your network, either a NAS device or USB drive attached to a router. A future purchase could be a MacMini as a Server.
As for applications, the usual office apps are available in Mac versions (MS Office being the one that comes to mind). I would start with the Apple programs and then, if you need others, come back here or search the web for reviews.
Lastly, consider whether you need to run Windows either in Bootcamp (dual boot configuration) or as a virtual machine. For example, you may have Windows software that is not available on the Mac.
Good luck and enjoy your new Mac.
    Sam.

  • Finding an Adobe Certified Instructor

Hi, I'm not sure where to put this question so I hope it's okay here.
I am looking for an Adobe Certified Instructor in my area (Dublin, Ireland). I looked on the Adobe Find a Partner website but no instructors for InDesign, PhotoShop or Illustrator came up — only training centres and one instructor for Dreamweaver. I know there are people in Dublin claiming to be genuine instructors but I want to ensure I get an Adobe certified instructor. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to check if someone is a genuine instructor with an up-to-date qualification?
    Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if you can check them out but these guys seems to know a lot about Adobe products:
    <http://www.bigwavemediatraining.ie/about-press3.php>
Please note I am recomending anything here so please do your own research and if necessary visit them onsite to see if they are genuine trainers.
    Good luck.

  • Becoming A Developer

    Hi all,
Ive had a quick look through here and the main apple site itself to see what i can find out but any direct help here would be appreciated.
So i have xcode and am starting to look at becoming a developer. I wanted to test a few things on my iPhone itself but from xcode needed a dev address. I hear people saying theres a free version and a $99 a year version, if i could have some clarfication on this that would be great.
Everytime i go onto become a dev on the Apple UK site, it takes me straight to the US site. Will this be ok if i reg with the US site to use on my UK devices ( assuming they are different )
If thats ok to do then great. But what will i get as a bonus when signing up as a free dev, will I be able to use xcode to test my apps on a real iphone? Or am i going to have to pay for this privaledge?
Anything would be a great help!

The free developer account is a leftover from a long time ago when the "paid" account was $499 and the "student" account was $199. About the only thing the free account has ever provided is access to the bug reporting system and additional downloads of things like old versions of Xcode.
The new, paid accounts provide the developer forums, two developer support tickets, access to WWDC, and access to the App Stores. In other words - much more for much less.

The only differences between countries is with the App Store via iTunes Connect. The Developer site is country agnostic.

You have to pay to run on a live device.

  • HDTV 16:9 fine, but view on regular 4:3 looks streched

Hi guys, I a exporting the whole movie 16:9 anamorphic from Final Cut Pro. Then put it into iDVD to burn the DVD. It looks good on a HDTV 16:9, but when I put it into a regular TV 4:3, it looks everybody becoming taller, squezzed. Is there a way I can make the movie has letter boxes on a regular TV so it's a 16:9 format, but when I view it on a HDTV it's still full screen 16:9? Thanks.

I use DVDSP but I am sure the settings are similar. Two things to check
    1. Burn the DVD using 16x9 Letterbox and Pan-Scan. This will make the video fit any tv.
    2. Make sure your DVD player is set to 16x9. If you are using a 16x9 TV the DVD player comes from the factory set for 4x3 TV's. It is in the settings menu of your DVD player. If you cant find the menu read the manual... its there I promise.
Took me weeks to figure this stuff out. Now I am Happy to share with all.

  • Video export not showing up

i'm a novice at editing software and after creating some title slides and to go along with .wav file sound effects i started importing mpg movie files and jpeg pictures from my hard drive that went along with an mp3 song.  when i went to export the video to check my progress only the title files and wav sound effects exported and none of the video or pictures or mp3 exported.  i exported it as a windows media file to play in WMP.   Would this have anything to do with the type of video i said i'd be using when setting up my project?  Because none of that made any sense to me and i just picked the dv ntsc standard 48hz aspect.  I have a cannon FS100 that records in MOD files (mpeg2).  I downloaded them through the program that was provided with my camera to the hard drive and then into adobe.  Would this cause my video to not show up in exported projects if i chose the incorrect presets?  I don't want to keep editing this video if at the end i'll have to redo the entire thing due to incorrect presets so i thought i'd try the forums.  Thanks for any help you can give.

hadn't found anything to explain my problem.
That's not quite the best approach.  Don't look to finding this one answer, look to becoming a well educated professional in all aspects of video production before using this software.  This is not a quick fix, it is a proper months or even years long method (depending on the degree you wish to attain).
As I said, for those without such dedication, there are consumer programs out there.
And of course, there is always the option of hiring a professional to do the job.  We depend on folks like yourself to earn a living.  Nothing wrong with supporting us.

  • Help Required - iMovie 11 V Final Cut Express

Firstly don't shoot me if this has been posted into the wrong place.
I've recently and quite successfully been getting to grips with iMovie. I mainly use it for personal projects importing files from .mov files, DVD's and Screen recording software.
I started using it a few months ago when I upgraded to the new Quad Core mac. First using iMovie'09 then recently upgraded iLife to version 11.
As a total amateur in anything 3D and Video production related it's certainly one area I never imagined I'd enter. Some may comment "Well it's not hard" but at present I'm loving the challenges that it presents me.
However, whilst I'm also not looking to become Spielberg, I do feel that because I have got to grips with the software fairly easily and quite quickly, I seem to have been left feeling that it's already met and exceeded my own expectations, and has now left me wanting more, particularly effects wise. (Maybe I just need to search a bit harder for something I haven't yet found - and I don't mean religion).
Therefore are there any plans to release further plug-ins for iMovie 11 to add to the experience, or would anyone here recommend upgrading to the Final Cut Suite?
FCE I have no experience of whatsoever, but do have friends that use it regularly. (I looked to download a demo version but nothing appears to be available) but it does, from what I have seen and read, offer more in the way of effects. (Or is this simply the upgrade packages that can be added) Am I wrong to even compare the two together?
So should I stick with what I have or make the change over - Basically need some helpful advice before I make what I feel may be a wasted purchase?

.... But I find the iMovie 06 interface superior to my mind. I also like the 'Final Cut' like Timeline of iMovie 06.

you probably know, Adobe Premiere, iMovie a + b + i and FinalCut come from the same master-mind (Randy U.)
My first experience with NLE was Avid on some PowerMac - 40min max to import
It had a 'Moviola'-GUI: vertical film'strips'. For European editors this was a huge hurdle, because they were used Steinbecks - horizontal reels.
IMHD≤6 (and FC) tries to 'emulate' that film-strip metaphor too = timeline.
what I noticed: absolute beginners prefer the 'pool' of clips in iM-b, instead of the single-'slide' in iM-a = a better overview of things to come. skimming is a brutal fast way to chop clips together.
a word about that auto-scrolling: that is inspired by Garageband, isn't it ?
I hope, we'll see even more of those interface-marvel in FC/e.
I tested AdobePremiereElements for Mac a while ago, it offers simple features we miss in iM-b (example: pointers) - it is less intuitive, less 'snappy', less 'easy'. Although it is 'old fashioned' with a timeline (and 'slides', as iM-a)
I guess, we old Silverbacks just have to open our minds for new ways of handling videos ... +think different+ anyone? …

  • Belle - how to disable text of homescreen widget/i...

Is tnere a way to do this?
There is nothing useful in this ''feature''...
In fact it is an eye sore and defeats the purpose of the homescreen shortcut/widget fezture..It completely breaks the Ui and good looking themes become UGLY!!!..The readability is practcally nil as it is too smsll..It is a complete distraction as it partially covers the icon bcos of which the purpose of quickly using an app by the icon is completely defeatec...The people who thought of this shud hv thought of providing a switch on/off homescreen icon text under phone display settings...
Another such brilliance can be seen in tne removal setting inbox view as tne default for messages (not just for new messages)...and the forced popup for notifications...
These are complete UI breakers that disrupt use of the phone
Requeseting Nokia to take notice and provide a soln in their next patch for belle (HOPE there will b one but probably wud not bet on it :-))
But wud like to say that Belle is a gr8 update...and such irrtants do take the shine off it...
    Tnx

You described exactly how to do it.  Simply connect the device and then deselect the option to launch iTunes when the device is connected.
There is also an option in Edit > Preferences > Devices to prevent iDevices from syncing automatically.
