Looking to buy a 1st Gen ipod nano

I am trying to get one of these cheaply as I do not like the new ones (prefer shiny back). I was wondering if there was anywhere selling off the old nano's at a reduced price? I am in the UK so it needs to be available here.
I have looked on ebay but they all seem to be around £80 (or £65 for a 1gb!).
Thanks for any feedback.

Did you check the online Apple store's refurb listing?
From the main Store tab, scroll down & click the 'Save' tag on the right. These are Apple certified refurbs.
Might be a good place to start.
Good luck.
Cheers!

reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8.  After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes.  My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem.  I can eliminate any problems with the cable and connection.
I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
Nothing seems to have helped the situation.

  • Having problems syncing 1st gen Ipod nano.

I have a 1st gen Ipod nano (i'm pretty sure it's a 1st gen) that I gave to my mother because I got an Ipod touch. She has her own Itunes accout on her own computer and is trying to connect my old Ipod to her computer/itunes so she can use it and download her music. The problem is the sync function is not working. It will not highlight and stays grey and unable to sync. So can anyone help? I thought I was being nice giving her my Ipod nano for her to use but it's no good is she's stuck with my music and can't put her own on.

Your mother will have to restore (wipe it out) the iPod Nano.  After doing that, she will be able to sync her own music.

  • 1st Gen Ipod Nano  - Shuffle Songs Issue

Everyday I take my 1st gen ipod nano with me for a walk and just select shuffle songs. My walk takes about an hour, but my nano in shuffle mode seems to play alot of the same songs over and over everyday in shuffle mode. I have almost 800 songs on the nano. Is there someway of getting my nano to shuffle up the songs a little better so that I'm not hearing the same songs over and over?

I am having the exact same issue with my iPod, 5th generation. I would like to know if there is a way to change the setup so it will shuffle it better.

  • Do I get a 1st gen ipod nano back when I send for a replacement?

Do I get a 1st gen ipod nano back when I send for a replacement? I have a black 2GB that I got from my grandfather for Christmas years ago. I want the same one(1st gen black 2GB) sent back. I didn't realize I had to send my original back until I was finished. I don't want a 6th gen, I have one already.

That's not good. I just sent mine back a few days ago. Great I want my 1st gen Nano back. I don't want a 6th gen, already have one. And that 1st gen was special. I thought I was getting a replacement. They better be willing to send back my 1st gen if I can't get a replacement 1st gen nano back.

  • Are AASPs allowed to charge customers that will qualify for the 1st Gen iPod nano recall?

Are AASPs allowed to charge customers that will qualify for the 1st Gen iPod nano recall? There are no Apple stores in the Philippines, only AASPs. Early reports from customers claim that one of the AASPs is charging a 10% discounted price for the replacement. We need clarification from Apple if the AASPs are allowed to do this since this seems counter to what the replacement program is supposed to do. I will not name the AASP for now until I personally confirm the reports.

There are no Apple stores in my country either, i went yesterday to one of those AASP but they didnt charge me or said anything about a price, just checked the screen, wheel and frame i guess to see if there was anything broken because they didnt turn it on. Confirmed the serial number, gave me a receipt and told me to come back in six weeks with the receipt to get my ipod back. I dont think they are supposed to charge you

  • MY 1st GEN IPOD NANO WON'T TURN OFF IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY

It just seems to have a problem recognizing when i'm pushing the play/pause button or if I'm trying to shut it off. It has had water damage is their any way to make it shut off. PLEASE.

Hi, i had the same problem with my 1st gen 4GB nano. I solved it by chosing not to visualize the clock on the ipod display. you can change this option from the ipod prefernces. Apparently visualizing the clock on the display triggers some kind of bug.... Don't ask me why or how, but it worked! good luck:)

  • Syncing and Charging Problem with 1st gen iPod nano

I purchased a 1st generation iPod nano via eBay about 3 months ago and have developed an interesting syncing and charging problem.  When I plug the nano to my iMac, frequently neither the computer nor iTunes will recognize it.  I have done "the five R's" with occasional success.  I've tried jiggling the cable in the computer port and sometimes it works in getting iTunes to recognize the nano, sometimes it doesn't.  Even when I am able to get iTunes to recognize the nano, I have frequently found that the nano hasn't charged up at all.  In fact, a couple of times I found it almost totally drained of power after having been connected to my computer.  Yes, I have the most recent version of iTunes installed on my iMac and my iMac, by the way, is relatively new - having been purchased in May of this year.  What is interesting is that I've taken my nano to work and it has absolutely no problem charging up on my Dell (yuk!).  For the record, I do not have iTunes installed on my work computer and I am not allowed to add any apps to my work computer without the consent of my supervisor.  The chances of getting iTunes installed on my Dell at work are pretty much nil.  Any suggestions on how I can fix the problem?

I bought a new USB dock connector and hoped, with fingers and toes crossed, that something positive would happen.  Sure enough, I was able to sync and recharge my old iPod nano.  I guess the original USB dock cable is on its last legs.  Not totally broken, but no longer reliable.  I consider my problem solved!    My thanks to everyone who took the time to read and try to solve my iPod problem.  I greatly appreciate it!

  • What Happened with the 1st Gen iPod Nano Settlement

Whatever happened with the 1st generation iPod Nano settlement? Was it a scam? I signed up online a long time ago but never heard back.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question. But, I haven't been able to get an answer anywhere else.

  • 1st Gen iPod Nano Will Only Let Me Add One Song At A Time!

Hi. I've got a 1st Gen Nano that has worked fine until recently. Last night, I decided that I wanted to reorganize my library and cleared all the songs off my iPod. I normally maintain my library manually, and have more songs than I do space (I have 4GB), so I wanted to pick and choose the songs I put back on.
I highlighted multiple songs and dragged them over to my iPod, but after three or four, they suddenly stopped transferring. I tried this over and over but the same thing kept happening. Then I tried to automatically sync it just to see what happened and, again, after just a few songs, it simply stopped. (Note that it never froze up or anything.) I shut down, rebooted my laptop and tried yet again -- same thing. I even restored my iPod to factory settings and THAT didn't help.
Apparently, I can only add songs one at a time now -- and I don't get why. I'm wondering if it could be the USB cord? I feel like that could be the issue, yet I wonder if a damaged USB cord would allow any transfers at all...
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance...
    -Heather

  • 1st gen ipod nano with a frozen screen no longer recognized by computer

I have an ipod nano (1st gen) with a frozen screen that is no longer recognized by any computer.  I had just barely downloaded a new audio book onto it before ejecting from itunes and trying to play it when it froze.  Since then I have tried updating my itunes,  plugging it into a second computer, and turning it off by holding the pause button, but nothing seems to work.  Suggestions? Or, has it just reached the end of its lifespan?

    Hi caitt,
I don't know if "what Apple said to do" means that you tried the 5 R's, but that's a good start:
    The 5 R's
    From there, try this:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
    And this...
    iPod won't turn on
    Good luck,

  • Please help me with this 1st gen ipod Nano question!

Unfortunately, my 1st gen Nano just died, most likely due to the heat in my car since I played it in there all the time. Now I have inherited an old 2nd gen Nano and would love to be able to transfer all the music from my dead 1st gen to this one. Is it possible without the computer that had all the music from my 1st gen? (the computer died long ago as well!) Is there a way to transfer the music from nano to nano without a computer? Or am I just out of luck...? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Just so I understand, your Nano is dead, the computer you used to sync it is dead, and I assume you have no backup.
    Is that right?
Anyway, you can't copy music directly from one Nano to another, dead or alive.
See if this helps: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
I believe you will need to download all your iTunes purchases to a computer and sync it with the replacement Nano. You do not have to pay for previous iTunes Store purchases again.
    Launch iTunes on a computer.
Click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
Click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.
To play what you download, you will need to "Authorize this Computer" for each computer you wish to authorize. This only has to be done once. There is a limit of five computers that you may authorize.

  • 1st Gen iPod Nano not appearing in iTunes, but DOES appear as a disk

    Good Afternoon All,
I have a 1st Gen Nano 1GB that up until iTunes 9 was syncing fine, but now - Nada.
The Nano is in disk mode and appears just fine in Finder, I can eject it and it's charging fine but iTunes 9 won't see it.
    I have:
    - reset the iPod (not restored because it won't show up in iTunes)
    - updated iTunes to r9 and checked for any other outstanding updates
    - Re-installed iTunes 9
    - this morning I applied the 10.6.1 update
    - The update forced a reboot of the iMac so I have rebooted since the issue started
I can't do most of what is in this KB article because it won't appear in iTunes (hard to restore otherwise, right?): http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410
My iPod Touch's (both 1Gen) connect to the same USB port/cable combination just fine and applied the 3.1 update to both through the same port/cable.
I don't want to restore the Nano if I don't have to, I have some Nike+ run data on there I don't want to lose, but I suppose I can pull it off in disk mode first if I have to restore.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Fortunately I solved my own problem, but unfortunately it took an iTunes downgrade.
My daughter's iBook was getting dog slow so I decided to pull a "PC" and reload fresh Leopard to clear out the gunk and get her to trim the fat from her iTunes and other directories and clear the mung left over from the original Tiger to Leopard upgrade.
As part of that I initially skipped the iTunes 9 update and connected the iPod to iTunes 8 - it was recognized instantly and uploaded my Nike+ data.
I did notice that the Nano is still PC formatted from back in the day before I switched to Mac. I am going to try connecting it to my iTunes 9 iMac again, and if nothing comes up I am going to restore it in iTunes 8 to Mac format and then see what happens in iTunes 9.
    I will update here.

  • Itunes7 will not recognize 1st Gen Ipod Nano but Windows XP will. Why?

    Hi,
My daughter has a year old ipod nano that is recognized by windows but not itunes 7 on multiple computers. I have tried everything short of restore but it won't let me do that without itunes recognizing the ipod. I ran diagnostic and everything was green; however, the report kept reporting this error:

It says this three times in the diagnostic. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!!!

Try this otherwise surf this site as there are is a lot of helpful material about this very problem
Plug in Ipod and when windows recognises it right click on the ipod in my computer then select format. You will get several options first try selecting quick format. then exit and restart itunes. Itunes will say it needs to reset factory settings. Do this and follow prompts. This did not work for me. But it may for you. I had to do a full format inside my computer which simply means that I did not tick the quick format box. Then repeated the itunes process. This still did not work so as a last ditch effort after all this I did another quick format in my computer and this finally worked .
So three windows reformats and three itunes resets and finally itunes accepted my ipod again

I know this is a hot topic, but I really would prefer to have Cover Flow sorted per Album rather than per Artist. I don't buy the same album for each artist so I think Cover Flow should be per Album, it just makes sense. As there's no real way around
