Looking to buy a new Mac, which is better Mac Air or Pro?

I currently own a 13.3inch LED-backlit widescreen notebook Mac book pro from 2011 and am looking to upgrade. I'm in my last year of high school and will be starting college next year. I'm really into photography, and use my computer for all my notes and assignments in class. SD card slot is prefreable. Really lost as to what I should get, not looking to spend over $1,500.00 (roughly, open to ideas). Is it worth buying an 11'inch basic? If so how can I connect my SD card? ANY help is very appreciated:)

11" Air doesnt have a SD card slot. Ive owned both 11 and 13" Air, still have a 13", and also a current pro.
If as you said you plan on much photo editing, then definitely get the 13"

Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc. Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros
The NEW macbook Pro is a different creature entirely than the older macbook Pro, .....the new Pro is thicker than the Air, but id frankly call the NEWEST Pro a "macbook Air with Retina display" , or

Instead of Air vs. Pro now,.....its really a smooth transition from Air to pro without comparing say, 2 different creatures, now its like contrasting a horse from a race horse (rough analogy)
Either one in 8gig of RAM (preferably)... the 4gig upgrade costs very little, the I7 you will notice only 15% faster on heavy applications over the I5, and NOTHING on most APPS.....I5 has longer battery life.
As you see below, the non-Retina 13" AIR is 82% of the Macbook with Retina display in resolution
there is no magical number of pixels per inch that automatically equates to Retina quality.

A huge internal SSD isnt a game changer for anything, you need an external HD anyway
what you WONT READ on Apple.com etc. is that the larger SSD are much faster due to SSD density

I am looking to buy a new iMac, and I started a search on Craigslist for fun, and it seems as if some people have some really good deals on the model mb325ll/a. It is the 2.8 ghz version with 2 gigs of ram and a 320gb hard drive.
This is not a model sold in the Apple Retail store, so I am a little hesitant, but the guy said it is the business model. Is this true?
What kind of warranty would it come with if I am an individual user and not a business? Do I miss out on anything? Please give any advice you may have. Thanks.

If it is being sold as used, the standard warranty is in effect for one year after its original sale. If it is being sold as new, the standard warranty is for one year. You can check the warranty status using the iMac's serial number.
You can also compare the price to the same iMac model on Apple's +Special Deals+ (refurb) page. It happens to be available currently as a refurb, if this is the same model.

Apple certified refurbished Macs have the same warranty as new. From my experience, they look and operate like new.

Looking to Buy a New All-In-One Printer

I am looking to buy a new all-in-one Printer.
I have been using the Epson RX620 for a little over a year and have had great print results. Unfortunately I get a warning message yesterday that the printer needs servicing and nothing will work. After getting much less than desirable results from their Customer Support I am moving away from Epson, after three different Epson printers.
I have heard many good things about Canon printers. We will be printing bunches and bunches of photos(two small daughters + graphic artist wife = many, many photos). I am presently looking at the Canon MP600. Any goods or bads about said printer?
We do want a printer that can use cheap cartridges so HP is out of the question. Any other recommendations is appreciated.

The only thing that ****** me off about Epson is that they shut down their toll free phone tech support!
I had to rely on their email support to set up my new Epson printer (CD/DVD loading tray) which wasn't so bad as it was very detailed & hands on. I just couldn't understand their manual. I was having one of my "senior moment" days.
Those Canon printers are handsome! I almost ended up getting one. But, the Epson printers won because they are the only ones who can print directly on CD/DVDs & all the software is included.

Like I said, I only have WiFi iPads, and don't know much at all about the data plans, but I don't think that you have to commit to a long term contract and I believe that there are plans that you can cancel at any time. My point is that if you sign up for a plan, and you use it say 4 months out of the year, you could be spending that money that you saved on the original cost of the iPad and even more in the future.

If you are talking about features of the MBP itself, as long as you are not looking at the Retina models, then the memory you can upgrade yourself for a lot less than Apple charges, and that does not affect the warranty as Apple considers memory a user permitted upgrade. Great sources are Crucial and OWC, both are Mac specialists and have on-line videos on how to do the install.
If the 15" is what you are looking at, a good upgrade is the 7200 rpm hard drive, gives a little better performance over the standard 5400 rpm drive.
The Hi Res screen is good if you do a lot of graphics work.
Comparing the 13" amd 15" you will notice the 15" has a second, discrete graphic processor...helps when you get into heavy duty videos, games, graphics...but keep in mind that kicking in the second processor uses a lot of power and will run the battery down faster.
If you are looking at the Retina models, then keep in mind there are no post-purchase upgrade options...you have to buy with everything you want at the start.

If you aren't going to use your Mac for anything special (Final Cut, Aperture, Photoshop, games...), you don't need that graphic card and you will save money.

your new lion-machine should have quicktime 7, too. if it doesn't, and if it doesn't show up after you migrated your stuff from you old machine you can always reinstall it from the logic dvd's, it's part of logic. my recommendation is to always use quicktime 7, since it's got many features that are absent in quicktime x. quicktime x is nothing but a polished video player. in quicktime 7 (pro, comes with logic) you can even do edits and paste your music onto video files. i use it all the time, especially since logic 64bit doesn't export to video anymore.

The case of Apple v. Windows is a subjective argument. Both systems have their merits, both have some aspects that some users don't like. Much depends on what you actually want to use them for.

Looking to buy a new system! Need advice!

Looking to buy a brand new mac and somewhat confused by the choices.
Firstly, speed. The default is "Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon" and I'm wondering what I will get if I go higher. Is it worth going to 3?
The other question I have is about the graphics cards.
I work in the ad business and deal with graphics and some FCP, but not sure which is best.
Will definitely get a cinema display.
Any advice would be appreciated.

If you work professionally and do a lot of FCP, Motion or other highly processor intense work it is probably worth it to spend the extra money since a little speed here and there will make you money...but in that case, go 8 core. Most folks won't see a huge difference between the 2.66 and 3GHz models. Maxing RAM is more important than processor speed for almost everyone. By max I don't mean 32gb . IMHO not much point in getting a Mac Pro without the ATI card. Some things won't need or use it but enough opportunities will arise to make it worth while for anyone doing video and graphics to say nothing of the occasional game. If I were you, in the ad business, I'd look at professional monitors like Eizo. That's what I settled on after extensive comparisons and I'm very glad I did. Get at least 8 gb of RAM. 4x2gb is probably the best configuration to start with so as to allow even more RAM later. I got 4x1gb and am moving to 8gb soon. Adequate. Get the smallest 160gb drive that is offered then put it on a shelf. If you are going to do HD then you'll want to look at RAID arrays. If you are going to do simple DV then populate your machine with 4 x 1TB drives and you're good to go till they fill up heh.
