Looking to downgrade

I see that my new every two is up and have been looking at my options. I am on a family share plan with 500 minutes, no text, no internet use. We use two phones and use less than half of the 500 minutes allotted. Most of the people we call use Verizon and beyond that we are just not long conversationalists on the phone. The basic rate is 59.00 but after all the surcharges and taxes we are paying over $70.00 a month. So basically we are throwing away minutes since they don't roll over.
Is there a way to get a lesser plan not advertised so we don't have to pay so much when we aren't even using it up? I've explored the possibility of doing separate lines but that comes out to be around the same amount of money. I also looked at the pay as you go plan. And I found that we wouldn't be saving money there either and we are not 65. Can you negotiate down from a plan to save money? A friend of ours is sharing on a 250 minute plan that they just keep rolling over. Money is tight right now and something got to give.

There is a Verizon Family Share loyalty plan out there, but I don't know Verizon's criteria for putting people on it.  It's worth a call in, I believe it's something like 500 minutes and 1000 N&W minutes for $49.99/month.  Other than that, Verizon doesn't offer any lower minute plans (outside of the 65+ plans).
You really aren't going to lower your costs much and stay on Verizon's postpaid service.  Have you looked into other prepaid providers?  Page Plus uses the Verizon network, and each of the other major networks also have their own prepaid divisions as well as other companies that use their network to provide prepaid service.
If you truly use no text, no data and very few minutes, prepaid will be the best way to save money, but you'll have to do the math and research to see which provider will be the best value for you.

to downgrade to a previous iTunes version, you could try this user tip that seemed to have worked for some:
    +1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.

  • Looking to downgrade my new iMac to mountain lion HELP

Can't seem to find the right help. I run Mountain Lion on my laptop and I love it. I recently bought a new iMac and was very excited at my new work station at home only to discover Mavericks is unusable.
I'd like to go back to Mountain Lion. Yes, the iMac came with Mavericks loaded, but this OS is fail. I need to be able to work, and work fast with out having to be my own IT support as well. I need my tools too, track pad, safari, etc.
How can I downgrade? Is it going to cost me? Heck, is it possible? Support has been unhelpful. If I can't downgrade I am going to take this shiny paper weight and exchange it for a PC and save money. Why pay a premium when the one feature that demanded the premium is unusable? I am NOT a happy apple customer. After 25 years I am about to walk away for good.

You may not be able to "downgrade" the OS on a machine that shipped with Mavericks installed.
The normal method would be to erase the drive and then install 10.8.5. You'll need to buy a redemption code at the Apple Store to use at the App Store.

  • How to Downgrade to Snow Leopard from Retail disk

    Hi there
We have a new iMac at work bought through Apple's refurb site. It is running the latest version of Lion with all firmware updates, etc. It is replacing a G5 running Tiger.
The problem is this – it is supposed to be running Adobe CS5, but also CS4 (and Office would be handly also)
We have other macs here, some running Leopard, some Snow Leopard, but the Adobe apps are not happy at all in Lion, and InDesign CS4 crashes all the time and won't even print without jumping through a million hoops (obviously the Office 2004 app won't run at all).
Due to the level of issues we are having with Lion (and the reliability of the all the software under Snow Leopard) I am looking to downgrade to Snow Leopard.
I have a full retail version of Snow Leopard (10.6.3), but the Lion system won't boot from the disk, it just gets to the grey screen, and beeps three times. I presume this means that there isn't the required drivers on the disk to run the hardware, or there's a firmware update that doesn't allow installation.
Am i totally stuck with this OS? I was looking to install Snow Leopard on a partiton, but when i run the install disk from the Lion desktop, it reports that I can't run it because 'I have Install Mac OS X 23.1.1.'
I would really like to just have Snow Leopard on my iMac, or failing that, Lion on a small partition, and Snow Leopard and all the programs on the larger partition that I would boot from.
Any ideas how I can get this done? Adobe CS suite is just rubbish on Lion macs, and runs worse than on my old Tiger mac.
    Thanks in advance,
    M.

oh right - so clone Mac B onto Mac A HD in taget disk mode using SuperDuper (or Carbon Copy Cloner), then i'll be able to boot Mac A in SL.
I understand that Mac A wouldn't boot, I was going to make Mac A's SL partition the start-up partition for Mac B, and then try and install OS updates to 10.6.8 from Mac B. Once updates are installed - change Mac B's startup disk back, and then surely Mac A would be able to boot all on it's own...
I'm not sure if this would work in Target Disk Mode, but if you succeed in cloning Mac B to Mac A, you may be able to apply the Combo 10.6.8 update to Mac A while booting from Mac B. The key is that the Combo updater may be able to customize the Snow Leopard installation for the hardware it's actually being applied to. Unless I missed it, we don't really know which iMac you have since it's a refurb. According to Mactracker, only the Late 2011 21.5" comes only with Lion and might not accept Snow Leopard at all. At the same time, it has the same Model Identifier as the Mid 2011, which came with 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 so it might work.
If at that point Mac A does boot in Snow Leopard, I'd advise running the 10.6.8 Combo updater again while booting from Mac A just to be safe.

  • Windows Phone 8.1 Preview users will no longer need to downgrade their OS to get Lumia Cyan

    Good news!
Should you still be rocking the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview and are looking to downgrade the operating system to get the full public release and Lumia Cyan, you won't have to carry out this task if you're able to hold on for another week. According to Joe Belfiore on Twitter, Microsoft will be upgrading those on the Developer Preview program to the full Windows Phone 8.1 public release next week.
The issue with the Developer Preview and updating directly to Lumia Cyan stems from those with BitLocker installed (through their employer). Although those affected are a small minority of users, when they installed the official 8.1 update, it caused the phone to lockup. As a precaution, Microsoft halted the Preview program for everyone. Microsoft previously advised consumers to downgrade their OS to then upgrade to the public release of Windows Phone 8.1 as it rolls out.
    Source: http://www.wpcentral.com/windows-phone-81-preview-users-dont-need-downgrade-their-os-will-get-lumia-cyan-next-week

Read that again carefully and you'll see that while you'll get the WP 8.1 update there is no mention of the Cyan rollout. These are completely separate and until Verizon decides to do so, the Icon will not see a Cyan update.
I'm sticking with the DP until such time someone tells me Verizon is rolling it out AND I need to go back to WP8 to get it. My hope is that by the time Verizon finally gets its act together Microsoft will have fixed the bitlocker issue. That may even happen with the 8.1 update 1 release.

  • Downgrade Java

I am using a program called musicreader.  The manufacturer says that I need to, until they work a solution, downgrade to the previous java verion.  According to the software update I am currently am using Java for Mac OS x 10.6 update 15 and according to the terminal application the version is Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_45-b06-451-10M4406)
I cannot seem to find a previous download.  I checked java.com and they said that they do not support issues with Java 6, which, i am guessing, that is what i have.  I need the musicreader to work because, as a musician, I have all my sheetmusic on this thing and now i cannot use it and i have some important rehearsals coming up.  Can someone please help me.  Thanks

Thank you for your reply.  However, I was thinking I already have Java 6 and am looking to downgrade to the previous version of Java 6.  Is the information I provided you, indicate Java 7?  I did not know how to check for sure if it is Java 6 or 7.  I figured since the java.com site did not show my version of Java and only spoke of Java 6, then that indicated I had Java 6.  If it is Java 7 I have then I will execute your solution, if it isn't then I still need some guidance.
Thanks again for your patience and help.

  • I need to downgrade from the version 1.1 to 1.0

Just bought my new ipod nano 6th generation and everything worked great. a few days later it prompted me to upgrade to the 1.1 version. after the nearly half my library wont play on my ipod. ive tried a number of things to fix it with no luck so now im just looking to downgrade back to the 1.0 version. for some reason the files are no longer on my computer so does anyone know where i can download the file along with the signature file or maybe anyone who has to 1.0 version can email it to me? this issue has been such a pain and definitely has made me lose faith in buying from apple again

You need to get a copy of the older 1.1 firmware. I found it at http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/   Next connect your iPod to your computer and then hold down 'option' when clicking the 'restore' button in the iPod overview screen of iTunes. You will then be asked to select the iPod firmware you wish to use. Select iPod_1.1_36B00109.ipsw (which should be the name of the file you downloaded) and your unit will be reverted back to the older firmware.

Check the cost of the plans for individual products versus the full package to see if it is worth it.  You would be getting two individual product subscriptions which is not far from the cost of the full package.

  • Want to downgrade phone/plan

I currently have a BlackBerry but I am looking to downgrade to decrease my bill ( get rid of data plan) , will I be penalized with extra fees for changing plan? I recently renewed my contract for 2 years

How recently? And did you renew directly with Verizon, or with a third party like Wirefly, Best Buy, or other reseller?
Verizon does not charge a fee for changing plans or phones during the terms of the contract - you can swap phones and plans as often as you like (just be aware of pro-rating if you change plans in the middle of a billing cycle!)
Third party vendors and resellers may have restrictions on the devices and plans though; in order to get rid of your data plan you WILL need to change devices, which may trigger a fee through the RESELLER's contract during the initial months.  READ the contract you signed.
If you have everything directly with Verizon, no worries, and no fees to switch phones to one that does not require the data plan.

  • Downgrade Windows Server 2012 License to WIndows Server 2008 R2

    Hi all,
I'm looking to downgrade a windows server 2012 open license to windows server 2008 r2.
Thing is i do not have an existing windows server 2008 r2 VLK.
Can anyone confirm that this downgrade is possible, as clearinghouse is not helping by telling me that i can't buy windows server 2008 r2 licenses

Clearinghouse is right in stating you can't buy Windows Server 2008 R2
    licenses anymore.
You'll need a Windows Server 2008 R2 disk kit and product key. They'll sell those to you, since you already own a license that allows you to install and use the software as part of your Windows Server 2012 license.

  • Restore an IOS6 backup to IOS7 (NOT downgrade)

    Hello,
My iPhone 4S had an unfortunate accident, and no longer works.  Luckily, I have a backup of it from earlier that day, and the backup was taken from iOS6.
I'd like to get an iPhone 5S.  Can I restore my iOS6 backup to the new iPhone, on iOS7?
NOTE: I'm not looking to downgrade here.  Just looking to get all my pics/apps/music/etc back on my phone from the iOS6 backup.  If that can't happen, do I have other options?
    Thanks!

back doesnt have to do anything with your IOS, you can restore from the ios6 back up to your ios7 phone.

  • Windows downgrade process query

    Hi,
    Some background.
My company normally builds PCs but recently we also decided to start using All in One PCs, we're looking at using the HP ProOne 400 G1.
Our software doesn't like Windows 8.1 and we're planning on skipping windows 8 and moving directly to windows 10.  For our own systems this isn't an issue as we just buy windows 7 as the PCs have no OS.
For the all in one PCs they come preinstalled with windows 8.1 pro.  The HP website claims that there should be downgrade rights to allow this to be changed to windows 7 pro.  This would be fine.
My problem is that HP support tell me to contact microsoft to preform the downgrade.
Microsoft tell me to contact HP.
I have downgrade media ( a windows 7 OEM disc) but the code is used for a second PC so I can't activate the product online or I'll have two PCs using the same code ( both at my end customers sites).
As far as I can tell I'm doing something both Microsoft and HP claim to support and I'm eager to obey the licenses process.  But whenever I talks to support from either company I'm dealing with people who know zero about the downgrade process.
I have the windows 8.1 key but the Microsoft activation people won't take it or do anything with it.
Given the above do I have downgrade rights?
If I have them how do I go about following them?
( I have tried following these instructions
    http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx
but they fail when i contact Microsoft as they tell me the web page is wrong).
I'm getting frustrated and I am now looking into alternative vendors who can supply the OS installed. But this means compromising on the hardware that best suits my customers so it is not the ideal solution.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi:
As far as I know, Microsoft is correct.
When you look at downgrade rights, it says that the downgrade has to be performed by the PC manufacturer (The PC has to come from HP with W7 Pro on it at the time of delivery).
It has been that way for any HP business PC I have ever purchased.
I just bought a HP 350 G1 business notebook with W7 x64 Pro downgrade rights from W8.1 Pro last month.
W7 was preinstalled on the hard drive, and a W8.1 disk was provided in case I wanted to change to W8.1 Pro.
Here is the problem you have with using a W7 disk on one of these new PC's that come with W8/8.1...
Because the W8.1 product key is encrypted in the BIOS, when you try to use even an older HP W7 installation disk, it will not work because of the W8.1 key.
You need to have a special set of W7 Pro recovery disks from HP in order to install W7 on these PC's without needing a W7 Pro product key.
I am looking at the specs, and it is pretty vague about how you can get a PC to already come with W7 Pro installed.
It says availability dependent on Region.
    http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/new-style-it/assets/proone400aio_nontouch.pdf
If you cannot purchase the PC's preinstalled with W7 Pro where you are located, then you won't be able to simply install W7 Pro on them, unless you have a W7 product key for every one of those PC's (which of course defeats the purpose of free downgrade rights).
The only suggestion I can offer would be to contact HP sales or technical support and see they offer W7 Pro x64 recovery disks that you can get with each PC you intend to purchase.
And before I went 'whole hog,' I would probably just buy one PC and test to make sure you can downgrade to W7 Pro x64 using the HP W7 supplied disks without encountering any issues.
