Looking to somehow set permissions on certain views within SharePoint 2010.

First, let me start off by saying I have full control of my own site but my site is a subsite, I am not a collections site admin. I can speak with them in the case I am needing to.
I have 4 different list views that should pertain to 4 different permission levels. I also created 4 different groups to house the people in. All I am trying to do is set each group or user (whichever one is possible) to a certain list view that was created
for them.
I do not have much coding experience within SP Designer as well.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,
By using target audiences, you can display content such as list or library views, items,  and entire Web Parts to specific groups of people. Have below links for your reference.

  • How to set permissions on certain Webparts of the Webpart Gallery?

    Hi,
I have a couple of webparts available in the Webpart Gallery. I do not want all those who have access to use every webpart, but only a few and some esp. not ;-)
Is it possible to set permissions on certain webparts in the webpart gallery so that certain people cannot use them when looking for available webparts?

  • Error while creating folder named "bin" using explorer view in sharepoint 2010

I am getting error when I create a folder in a library named "bin" using explorer view in sharepoint 2010.
When I create folders with other names I don't get any errors.
     Please suggest.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an
error when you create a folder named “bin” in a SharePoint library with explorer view.
There are any Microsoft.NET Framework assemblies that have controls or parts that the SharePoint site uses, which are stored in the bin folder. You can remove “bin”  from hidden segments, then you can create a folder named “bin”
in the SharePoint library with explorer view.
1.Opened IIS Manager and selected Server name -> Request Filtering -> Hidden Segments tab -> Removed "bin" from there:
       2.Perform IISRESET:

  • Tree view in SharePoint 2010 lib

How can i achieve it OOB.?

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to make the tree view navigation only displayed to Library rather than whole site.

  • Authenticated RSS feeds viewer in Sharepoint 2010

    Hi All,
I need to create an RSS feed viewer in the sharepoint page from an external site (Service Now) in which authentication is needed. I tried adding the OOTB RSS viewer webpart and found out that in our environment they are not allowing authenticated
RSS feeds. So there is no point of asking for changing the authentication settings also.
Could some one let me know if there is any workaround to include the authenticated RSS feeds viewer in the sharepoint environment. Please let me know if we can achieve the same through any CEWP?
    Thanks In Advance

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to use RSS feeds in SharePoint 2010.

  • Permissions Randomly Disappearing/Reverting in SharePoint 2010

    Hi everyone,
A couple of our SharePoint team sites have been experiencing an unusual phenomenon where user permissions randomly disappear or revert--all seemingly without any user involvement. I have inspected the Security Audit Logs for the past months, scouring permissions
activity surrounding these events, but I have not been able to identify any user involvement that could have caused or even contributed to these issues.
One site had a folder whose entire permissions setting became blank. Another site's group ownership reverted to a previous user who moved to a different department several months ago.
We do occasionally restore corrupted Sharepoint items from our DPM backups, but these particular sites and items have not been restored.
I have been reading through several forums and online resources, but I haven't found anything definitive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Enable Site Collection Auditing on the Site Collection (in Site Settings). There is an option to record change in user permissions/groups. You may also want the Edit Items option.
This should give you a better idea of what is going on next time this happens.

  • Custom column added is not available for Calendar list view in SharePoint 2010

I created a custome column "Breakline" in a custom content type 'SM event", and applied the content type to a Calendar.
The column is listed under the content type "SM event" but it is not listed when I tried to modify the view using the "Breakline" column.
    Does anyone know why?

I set "Breakline" hidden because I don't want to show this in create new item form.
I realized that may be the reason. So changed the column to Optional in CT and created a new calendar using that CT. then at list level CT I changed it to Hidden.  That works.   The column is available for use when modifying view.
    Thanks

  • Temporarily Take Ownership of folders to set permissions

So I am attempting to run a script when a server builds that sets permissions on certain folders. However, the administrator group does not have access to these files. Is there a way to temporarily take ownership of these folders so I can make the permission
changes and revert the ownership back after.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Mekac is right; if you don't have at least 'ReadPermissions' access to the file/folder, you usually can't get the current owner. If you have the SeBackupPrivilege granted, though, you can take a look at it under the right conditions. If you want to do that
manually, let me know, otherwise you can try the 4.0 preview version of the
    PowerShell Access Control module:
    $CurrentPath = "c:\FileOrFolderPath"
    $AddAceParams = @{
    Principal = "Administrators"
    FolderRights = "FullControl"
    <#
    Method 1 (technically a one-liner)
    #>
    Get-SecurityDescriptor $CurrentPath -PacSDOption (New-PacCommandOption -BypassAclCheck) | ForEach-Object {
    $OriginalOwner = $_.Owner
    $_ | Set-Owner -PassThru -Apply | # -Force here would suppress prompt
    Add-AccessControlEntry @AddAceParams -PassThru |
Set-Owner -Principal $OriginalOwner -Apply # -Force here would suppress prompt
    <#
    Method 2 (Multiple lines)
    #>
    $OriginalOwner = Get-SecurityDescriptor $CurrentPath -PacSDOption (New-PacCommandOption -BypassAclCheck) | select -ExpandProperty Owner
    Set-Owner $CurrentPath #-Force
    Add-AccessControlEntry $CurrentPath @AddAceParams -PassThru |
    Set-Owner -Principal $OriginalOwner -Apply #-Force
Both examples should do the exact same thing. The important part is the '-PacSDOption (New-PacCommandOption -BypassAclCheck)', which enables the backup privilege and opens the file/folder in a special way to allow you to look at the security descriptor even
if you don't have permission to. You need to do that to guarantee the ability to save the current owner. If you have any questions about what's going on, please let me know.
It's actually possible to make the permission changes using the SeRestorePrivilege without taking ownership first, but there are a lot of "gotchas". I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to include that capability in the final version
    of the module.
By the way, version 4.0 currently still a preview build, so some of the syntax will be different before it's finalized. One area where the previous examples will definitely fail later is with the 'New-PacCommandOption' cmdlet (it's been renamed
to 'New-PacSdOption' in the latest unreleased build).

  • Display wikipage(default.aspx) in mobile view sharepoint 2010 foundation sp2

Recently I deployed a site using sharepoint foundation 2010 sp2.
The site has anonymous access to entire site. I developed some wiki pages using wikipage library. it's looking fine in desktop ,laptop, ipad, tab's.
But coming to mobile view the wikipages are not displaying. But I want to show the wiki page's in mobile view also.
So is there any setting required to set up for that? SP 2010 Foundation SP2

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display wikipage in mobile view for SharePoint 2010 foundation sp2.
How about append "?Mobile=1" to the end of the URL of the home page using Internet Explorer? If cannot access, you need to enable the legacy MobileRedirection feature. This feature is enabled with a SharePoint
    Management Shell cmdlet:
    Enable-SPFeature –identity “MobileRedirection” –URL http://Server/SiteURL
Correspondingly, you can force a mobile device to load a nonmobile page by entering the URL of the nonmobile page and appending "?Mobile=0" to the end of the URL.

  • Accessing certain folders within a SharePoint library by groups

    Hello there!
Please, guys, give me some clarification. Is it possible at all to allow or prohibit access to a certain folder within SharePoint 365 library. A folder contais some files that I want a certain group of users to have access to it.
What I have now is to allow access to a certain file in the library which is quite laborious as long as I have more than 5000 documents in the library groupped into 50+ folders. Could I make some automatization in order to allow access to a folder for
a certain group of users automatically accordingly to an event in the calendar?

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that to you want to grant a certain group of users to have access to a certain folder within SharePoint 365 library.
Navigate to the document library with the folders. Click on “…”then select “Shared With”, next click Advanced.
there should be an option for Manage Permissions. From there you will have to break the permissions inheritance (there should be a link or option called Edit permissions). Once the inheritance is broken, you can add or remove people as needed.
Here is a link about set unique permissions for Folders, you can use as a reference:

  • How set Access forms to lists in Sharepoint?

I need to create new view for list like Access form in Sharepoint. I go to Lists-Parameters -> Create View -> Access view.
Then I create form in Access and save in Sharepoint site. This file have saved like .accdb. How I can choose this view for default view for my list?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to use the Access view in a list.
There is no OOB way to use the Access view as a default view in SharePoint 2010.
In SharePoint 2010, when create an view in Access 2010, you can only choose to ‘Save to SharePoint Site’ to save the .accdb file to a SharePoint document library.
User then can access the reports or forms in the document library instead. The .accdb file will be opened in Access application.
If you publish the Access database to Access Service, it will create a new site for the Access database, you can view the forms and reports in browser.

  • [Apache 2] Critical error mod_rewrite: Could not set permissions on rewrite

    Hi,
Well I had a look around to this problem and it seems it is specific to mac os system on intel machines, so I send my post here.
I had installed the apache 2 server from www.serverlogistics.com and it seems to start. However it is impossible to log into my local website with an error in my web browser "can't log to "localhost" server".
By reading the logs I got in /Library/Apache2/logs/error_log (where there is also a httpd.pid file): [crit] (14)Bad address: mod_rewrite: Could not set permissions on rewriteloglock; check User and Group directives Configuration Failed
So, I commented the line "LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so" in /Library/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf with no efffect at all.
Then I don't know what to do.... any idea please ?
NB : I did not configure or set any htaccess file in any directory.

    Hi,
Well, I had tried several ways among others MAMP. With, MAMP, I experienced some problems running MySQL and or Apache server.
If you'd like help, you need to describe the specific problems you're having. You're not giving people here much to go on in order to be able to help. Without knowing what you've already tried, and what the results were, it's impossible to say if you've just made a simple mistake or if you've truly hit upon something that won't work. The Apache logs are especially helpful, with lots of detailed information to help in troubleshooting.
To say the true, I bought this Macbook because the system kernel is 100% compatible with Linux, and I was full of naives hopes, thinking that I will install/compile easily softwares that are usual under Linux world.....
I certainly haven't had much problem compiling and installing software that's distributed as source code, though I haven't tried to compile Apache. While it's true that much of the software will compile, it's also true that you might have to make some small changes here and there to the source code to get it to work correctly. But you might also have to do the same thing to get them to compile on different Linux distributions. So OS X isn't that different in that respect.
If you want to get Apache 2 running with MAMP, post back with specific information on what problems you had and I'll try to help. I've been hacking at Apache installations for many years now, so if I know the problems you're having, there's a good chance I've been through them, too.

  • Set Permissions Dreamweaver 8

I am new to Dreamweaver 8 and am having some problems that I
never had before (I previously used Dreamweaver 4).
    I am on platform Mac 0SX 10.3.
When I upload graphics to the remote server via FTP, the
permissions are somehow set to default at 640 or 1. This makes it
so that they do not display. I need them to be set to 644.
I don't know where this default is set or how I change it so
that when it uploads I don't have to manually view the remote

I'm not a real webdesigner or computer professional, I just
make a couple of my own websites so I don't even really understand
what the permissions are, but my web host told me they need to be

Please help, if you know the answer and try to answer in
"layman's" terms as I don't know the ins and outs of dreamweaver.
    Thanks!!!!
