Looking to start over

How to I delete everything in elements 11 without having to uninstall the program?

No need to delete. Start a new catalog.
File >> Manage Catalogs >> New
Choose a new name e.g. MyCatalog2
Import free music and when the blank catalog opens you can start over.

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version.  You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes.  Or you can adapt to the new look.

  • Everything vanished - iTunes looks like it 'started over' - playlists gone

Opened iTunes this morning and surprise - all playlists and apps were gone. 'Library Damaged'.
It opened with just a few albums and songs. I had to ask iTunes to open a different library, but it kept on creating new damaged ones. I presume I can delete those since they are clogging my iTunes drive and muddling things.
I did find one library (from last April) that had most of my playlists, however those playlists have been updated frequently with new songs since then and the new library lists nothing under 'Purchased' that I have purchased from the Apple Store since then - no apps, no songs, nothing.
How can I get this stuff back? I can't plug my iPod into the computer or it will zorch everything on the iPod and create a mirror of the new screwed-up iTunes, right? It won't use the iPod as a reference and re-create the playlists and what not in iTunes on the computer, right? Or can I tell it to use the iPod as a guide somehow?
This *****; my wife got an iPod touch in June and has a billion apps on it. The files are in the iTunes folder, but not in iTunes. I know I can reload them one-at-a-time, just hoping Apple has a better option than that. Is there anyway to load the playlists from an old library into iTunes? If so I could just start over and load all music and all playlists, right?
And once completed, how do I keep this crap from happening again?
iTunes version 9.1.1 and OSX 10.4.11
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ASSIST

if you still have the actually files on your computer or somewhere you can drag them into iTunes and re-make your playlists. i know it will take ages, but it is your only way round. same with your apps you just have to drag them in. DO NOT SYNC YOUR IPOD! use your ipod as i guide to what is in your playlists and what apps your have and almost everything. Take screen shots of your important contacts, notes, setting, events and the setup of your apps and save them somewhere so when you sync you know how everything was and where everything was.

  • Data acquisition time not continuous, but starting over and over again

    Hi,
My data acquisition time is not continuous but loops over and over
again.  Could someone please take a look at my vi to see if you
have any thoughts on how to fix this.  Also, I tried to set up my
vi so that I could take the mean of the signal at any time I
choose.  However, at the same instance that the data acquistion
time "starts over" again, the mean is calculated (before I trigger it to take the mean)
I have attached my vi and my output file as a text file so that what
I'm trying to say will (hopefully) make a bit more sense.
Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hi,
Thanks for responding to my question. Attached is the vi with added
comments as to what I think I am doing.  By DAQ time, I mean the
first column of data that is in the data file that I attached
previously.  I am only simulating a signal (at the beginning) so
that I can program in my office.  I do, however, have the same
problem as stated above when I change the simulate signal to DAQmx
    using my instrument.
I hope this clearer.  If not, I'll try again.
    Thanks so much!

  • Previously downloaded songs stop and start over during re-download.

I have several questions, and I'm hoping that someone can help me out with at least one of them. I have a 4th generation iPod Touch, and recently I had to start syncing to another computer after all of the USB ports on my computer stopped working out of nowhere (help on that issue would also be appreciated). Everything seemed to be working fine, I was manually managing my music and burned some CDs to transfer to my iPod. They transferred smoothly, and then afterwards I moved all of the tracks on the computer onto an external hard drive and deleted them from iTunes because the memory was getting too full. I hadn't even plugged the iPod back in or synced it wirelessly after that, but out of nowhere all of the music from the CDs and 78 tracks that I purchased on the iPod just deleted. I got all but one of the purchased songs back, and with that one, when I re-download it the meter fills almost all the way and starts over (this is all being done from the iPod itself). It has been doing this for several hours. In attempt to move all of the music from the CDs back, I took the music from the external hard drive and manually moved it to my iPod through iTunes. When I look at the iPod in iTunes, it appeared as if all of my music was back. On the device, however, the CDs still weren't there. I eventually gave up hope and ejected my iPod, only to realize that some of my music purchased on the iPod had lost its cover art. In effort to fix this (and this has worked before), I erased all of said songs and started to re-download from the Purchased list in iTunes (on the device). Now, all of the songs in the process of being re-downloaded have a gray music note next to them in the Downloads list and either say "Download error", act like the song mentioned earlier, or do nothing at all. I really just want my purchased music back, so if you know anything about the issue or have experienced something similar, please help me!

I suggest for you to add all the songs to your iTunes library. Once everything is in place, sync it to your iPod. You may also try wireless syncing as well.

  • Want to Completely Start Over

    Hi,
This is my first post here. I searched around and couldn't find an exact answer.
I use Windows XP. I got an iPhone about 2 months ago, and before that I had never used iTunes before.
I'm a musician and a music lover, so I'm always wanting to transfer music to and from my iPhone. When I first got my phone, I downloaded iTunes and proceeded to create a huge clusterf*ck. It was transferring every single audio file on my computer to my phone, which I do not want to happen.
I must say that, so far, I've found iTunes incredibly non-intuitive and incredibly confusing.
Anyway, what I would like to do is completely start over if possible. And I'm not just talking about uninstalling and re-installing iTunes. (I've already done that probably 5 or 6 times for various reasons.)
I mean that I want to completely restore my iPhone to its factory settings and start completely over with iTunes as if I'd never used it before.
My biggest complaint is that it's a total, f*cking mess. It searched my entire computer for audio files, and so everything (little sketch recordings of song ideas, etc.) on my PC is showing up in iTunes, which I do not want. I only want the files that are in my "My Music" folder to show up, because those files are neatly organized into folders of albums, etc. As it is now, I have this mess of 283 items in the "song" category in iTunes, and most of them are not songs---they're just scratch recordings or whatever (things I only want on my computer).
So ... I know there's a way to bring the iPhone back to factory settings. But is there a way to do this with iTunes? I remember that the first time I installed it, it asked me some things like where I wanted to look for audio files and things like that. But now when I reinstall it, it doesn't do that anymore.
I really hate the iTunes interface, and I've tried several other alternatives. Sharepod seemed perfect, because I would just love a simple drag/drop interface like that. But unfortunately, it won't work properly for me. It won't recognize my photos, my purchased songs, or my voice memos. And it won't work when I try to copy a song from the PC to my phone.
And, of course, iTunes won't let you copy a song from the phone to your computer (does anyone know why?).
I just want a way to do both of those things in an easy fashion.
For the record, here are the alternatives I've tried, and none of them have worked completely for one reason or another:
    Sharepod
Copytrans Manager (this works well, but it won't let you copy songs from the phone to the computer)
iFunbox (worked great for me on everything except music)
Is there a way to completely restart on iTunes as well as my iPhone? If I do this, will I lose the apps I've purchased? Or are they always available to me now from the app store to redownload?
I know this is much more of a ramble than a question, but I'm so frustrated at this point.

No one has any ideas on this?
    Thanks

  • "Starting Over with iTunes"

I am having a terrible set of computer luck. My Windows desktop crapped out on me about 4 or 5 months ago. I had all of my itunes music sitting on my Dell laptop and regularly sync'd to my 30gb colour ipod. I went out and bought a new iMac and a Buffalo Pro Duo to act as a NAS. I spent lots of time on this very helpful board understanding how to consolidate my entire itunes library from the Dell laptop onto the NAS and then set the NAS as my default location for all of my music.
    Everything was working great.
About a month ago, my Dell laptop gave up the ghost. No problem, because all of my music was safely on the NAS in a RAID 1 configuration. Because I had about 30 gb of music and my ipod only holds about 27gb (apx), I "unticked" some music but all was fine.
Over the weekend, my NAS crapped out. To make a short story long, even though I was using RAID 1, it is not cost effective to get the files off the hard drives.
    Here is the question:
So now, when I open itunes on the Mac, I "see" my entire music library, but obviously none of the music is there. All of the files were stored on the NAS which is now gone. I have been in touch with Apple support and I believe I can re-obtain my purchased music, but I probably don't even need to as I understand I can get the purchased music off the ipod back onto the computer. But that only works for the purchased music from the itunes store. Has anyone tried the 3rd party solutions to get the rest of my music off the ipod and onto my computer? I was looking at Senuti, which seems good, any thoughts?
Also, how do I "get rid" of all of the songs that are listed in the library, but no longer exist, as the files are gone? When I get the music off the ipod and onto the computer, I don't want to have a bunch of extra names of songs for which the files don't exist. I guess I am asking if there is a way of "wiping the library" clean ( even though the files themselves, now only reside on my ipod, as the NAS is gone) so I can start fresh, get all of my music off the ipod and onto the computer and then just go from there.
Sorry for the long message. Hopefully this is the end of the problems. (Oh yeah, my daughter's for some reason gave me the "Restore" message and I had to wipe it clean and start over. Only problem is I have no music to put back on it until I resolve the above issue. )
    Thanx

Thanx for all the assistance. I deleted the files in the itunes folder and then when I re-started itunes, it looked clean. I then used Pod to Mac to transfer the 5000+ songs I had on my old 30gb ipod back over to the computer. It went surprisingly quick, and it seems, very smoothly.
When I reconnected the ipod back to the computer, it told me that I can only sync with one itunes library at a time, and do I want to remove all the contents of my ipod and re-sync with the "new" library on the computer. Because I was heading out to work, and I knew that it would take some time to re-sync, I said cancel, but when I get home I will do it again, and given that now, everything that is on the computer hard drive / itunes library actually came from the ipod, there should be no problem re-sync'ing. Thanx again for your help.

  • ITunes Match Songs Keep Starting Over

I've been using iTunes Match since it first released and absolutely love it! However, I've been experiencing a strange thing the last couple of months and it's happening more frequently. I haven't changed any settings or anything - it's an issue that just started out of the blue.
I keep all my music in the cloud and stream it on my iMac. Particularly my playlists. Sometimes, right in the middle of playing a song, it will stop the music and put the song back at the beginning. Out of nowhere! All of a sudden the song will stop, I look at iTunes, and the play marker will be at the beginning of the song, and it's stopped. One particular song I couldn't even get through it because it kept stopping it and I had to start the song over and over until I just skipped it. I thought with the new Yosemite the issue might be fixed, but it's continued from the previous version into this new OS. I've never had that problem before songs in the cloud or playlists in the cloud, but this has happened a number of times over the last few months.
My internet connection is great (50mb download) and it's not cutting in and out. I thought that might be the issue because the songs in the cloud will just stop, as if the internet cut off the song, and then iTunes will put the marker at the beginning.
    Any thoughts?
    Hardware: iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 8 GB
OS: OS X Yosemite Version 10.10
    ITunes: 12.0.1.26

I have the same problem. It seems once a movie or tv show has a problem, it will never "complete" the download. It gets all the way to the end and then inexplicably starts over. Sometimes it says "processing" and then starts over. Frankly, I find there are more quirks with the iPad than my Android tablet. Just saying. Amazon's system, cloud player, and movie rentals blow iTunes out of the water.

  • How do I delete everything in Iphoto and start over

I have given up trying to fix my library. I would like to delete everything in old library and hope I can reimport my pictures from disks and edit then again. how do I make sure everything that was in the old library is absolutely, positively gone so that it (hopefully) doesn't mess up again? Just trash the library everywhere I can find it and start importing again?

They were showing up when I launched IPhoto. But when trying to upload, I would browse and find pictures, then Iphoto Library. In Iphoto library, the new albums, folders, etc., were not showing up - it still had the old ones so I would have had to look at each picture in it to make sure it was the right one.
Example: In my first Iphoto library, I had a file called wedding, one called wedding 2, etc. My pictures kept disappearing and I did what you suggested and created a new library and they showed back up. But when I organized them in the new library, I had a file called wedding and one called bridesmaids. When browsing to upload photos, my Iphoto library on the computer still had the old file names in it.
That's why I'm wondering if I need to completely delete everything and start over.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop Install Reaches 100% then Starts Over

With Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, it launches and logins just fine, detects my installed apps and shows updates and all apps that are not installed yet.  When I click Install on any app, it will download, then initializes the installer.  When the installation progress reaches 100%, it starts over again with the installation progress at 0%.  I have let Acrobat XI Pro go through 5 "installations" now and each time it reaches 100% then starts over.
    Steps takens already:
    -Rebooted
    -Reinstalled Creative Cloud
    -Deleted folder: C:\%AppData%\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    -Removed everything in: %temp%
-Verified that my firewall policy is permitting all ports to *.adobe.com*/* and to *.adobelogin.com*/* (Per the Adobe IT Deployment article for URL's and Ports to allow)
-Verified there are no packet drops during the "download" that could cause a bad installation
-Verified my local security (Kaspersky) is not blocking anything Adobe related...but that does not apply since Creative Cloud is already installed and is an allowed process for all sub-threads
    Please help!
    Thank you

    Jim,
You are a lifesaver! I can't think of how many additional hours of frustration you just saved me - but Thank You!!
After posting, I had determined (like you said), that Explorer must be doing that for a reason. I created a new user profile on the system (added a user temporarily) and observed the same behavior of Windows Explorer (stopping/starting) but then continuing to work as it should. At that point I knew the answer was somewhere in the user's profile but I would have had no idea where to look. The opm.db file was indeed the culprit.
I sure do appreciate the excellent help.

  • Day Two: Time Machine Started Over Again

I bought a new external 500 GB drive yesterday, connected it to my computer, and started Time Machine. A few hours (more than a few), the initial 70GB backup was complete. When I got home today I plugged it back in and it ran one or two more incremental backups. TM showed my oldest backup at last night, then several since.
Then I did what I'd intended to do once I had the initial backup made: I plugged it into my Airport Extreme. Good old Apple software recognized it the moment I mounted it, and I didn't even have to select a new volume in TM preferences.
Then, at the next scheduled incremental backup, TM started over from scratch. It is copying EVERYTHING to a disk image that it mounted, a disk image stored on the 500 GB drive. And now, in TM prefs, my oldest backup is '--' and the newest is the one in progress. It is like it disregarded everything I did today and is starting a brand new backup on the same drive.
Is this normal behavior? How do I merge the two, or tell TM to just use the one that it started earlier? Is that earlier backup worth anything now, or is it just a lump of virtual coal on my drive?

Take a look at this discussion. It is not a solution. Apparently it is normal behavior.

Want to sync from an old Dell with Window XP professional to a brand new Samsung notebook8

yes, sorry - not sure why that happened, but i've mixed up the information you've provided. the instructions should read:
on your old/already syncing device (Dell PC), open firefox there and go to ''options > sync'' and click on pair a new device...
then on your new device (Samsung), also go to ''firefox > options > sync > set up firefox sync > i have an account'' which will show you a 3x4 character code that you'll have to enter into your old device in order to complete the process.
