Looking to update 10.2.8

Is it possible to download an update for 10.2.8 from this site? So far I have found nothing, it seems like it is not able to update. I have a G4 and I don't have the original disks. When I took my dead computer in to be fixed all they could do for me is put on 10.2.8 os x from my ibook. Any help would be appreciated...it runs sooooo slow.

There is no update for 10.2.8. Jaguar ran from 10.2-10.2.8 and then Panther 10.3 was released.
You will need to purchase an upgrade to Panther 10.3 or Tiger 10.4. Panther can be purchased second hand and Tiger can still be purchased from Apple. You may wish to wait till the new OS 10.5 Leopard is released sometime this month (depending on if your computer will be compatible with it).
You really should have system disks for your computer if for nothing more than system troubleshooting such as repairing the disk with the install cd or dvd or in the event you need to reinstall or archive and install the system.

No you won't necessarily lose your photos when upgrading but it's very very unwise not to back up first. Backing up is like using a seat belt in a car. You can drive without one for years and have no issues, but if you do have a problem the outcome will be a lot worse. So, too, with back ups. And upgrading is one of those times when the risks of a problem are higher.
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

Looking to Update Graphics Card

Looking to update my 2009 Mac Pro graphics cards which is an ATI RADEON HD4870.
I run a triple booting machine SL 10.6.8, Lion 10.7.5 and WIndows 7 under Bootcamp
so need the bootscreen.
Looking for a plug n play card that requires no extra cables or flashing.

did you rule out and not interested in go with 5770? I mean you jbuilt a fence and know Apple has next to nothing that is sensible in price/performance.
I think GTX are nice but not with 10.6.8. MacVidCards does the support and flashing.
And yes there is better performance with even 5770.

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list to find those with updates and individually update them.

Before you upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion, remember all PowerPC applications will no longer work. That means you need to upgrade your documents to Lion or Mountain Lion compatible application formats before upgrading! Converters that do so, may not exist in Lion or Mountain Lion. Anything you have that is powerpc code only will not run on a new machine. OS X 10.8 has no support for powerpc code (universal binary programs should be fine).
Other than that warning, without knowing exactly what programs you have, and what version you are on, it is hard to say whay will or will not migrate alright.
you might need to do some web searching and check apps at sites like roaringapps or on the programs Company web site.

[solved] gnome-shell bad looking after update

Hi,
After update (about two weeks ago) my gnome looks bad. You can see this in screenshots. Very large icons and strange rectangles in gnome shell menu on started applications.
Can you help?

in the past 2 days when i try to search for updates in the app store app, i get this message:
"The operation couldn't be completed. NSURLErrorDomain error -1100
what does this mean? it just started doing this so im not sure, i havn't installed anything in over a week . anyone having this problem or solutions to it? thanks everyone

Most of use are having the same issue. It's an Apple problem that we just need to wait until they fix it.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv4-1465dx Entertainment Notebook PC and needing to use BlueStacks App Player. Here is a link to uninstall software in Windows 8. You need to uninstall this Bluestacks software and reinstall it.

Software Update not looking for updates

I have software update enabled to check daily for any updates, I logged in yesterday and today, knowing that updates were available, however my iMac did not seem to be looking for any updates. I manually checked and updates were available on both days. Is this an OS X problem, or does it take a while for OS X to check for updates once logged in.. The only change that has occurred in the past week has been a 50% speed reduction in my broadband service. Current speed around 2.5MB.

I just got my MacBook Pro and ran Software Update first thing. It said I was all up to date. I then downloaded iWork '08. When I tried to install iWork it said I needed OS X 10.4.10. I checked my about mac and sure enough I am running 10.4.9. My Quicktime is also 7.1.5. Why would software update tell me I'm all up to date if I have this older software on my computer. This thing has only been out of the box a few hours and I have installed exactly nothing on it. Anyone have any ideas?
