  • Looking to upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium to the latest.

I am looking to upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium to the latest. We are running on an isolated network without access to the Internet. Looking for advise on how best to proceed.

As far as upgrading goes, you will not have that option for CS3 as it is not in the upgrade path for CS6.  You will have to purchase the full version of CS6.  I don't know if buying the disk is still an option, but if you have to you can download the installation file(s) and copy to a removeable media and install using that.  In order to activate it you will have to perform an offline activation.
Here are some links that might be of help...

  • Looking to upgrade from my T400, need advice.

I've had my T400 for 4+ years.  Rock solid.  I like both the T440p and T540p.
What I'm primarly looking for is more screen space.  1440x900 on a 14.1" is too cluttered.
    Advice?
Also will either the T440p and T540p.have the new haswell chip?

    Well...
You could order the machine and return it if you end up hating the clickpad.
Consequently, you can still buy a refurbished or even new T520/530 units that have the conventional touchpad. A T520 would even have the same keyboard layout as your current T400 if that means anything to you.
    Good luck.
    Cheers,

I have a Canon Rebel that I purchased a few years back and I am considering upgrading. My hobby is taking wildlife pictures but I am by no means close to being an advanced photographer so I do not need top of the line equipment. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • For anyone looking to upgrade from iWeb

Here is an awesome deal on Freeway, both Pro and Express, but keep in mind that this discount is only for today, Jan 11th:
    Express (Was $70, now $30):
    http://www.mupromo.com/deal/1783/freeway-express
    Pro (Was $230 Now $99):

Freeway is a great program if you want a very powerful WYSIWYG program. I've been playing with the Express trial and I must say that it is an amazing program, even though the learning curve is steeper than iWeb.

No deal of Freeway Pro - both your links point to Freeway Express!!

  • Upgrading from Oracle 9.1.0.8 to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2)

    Hello everyone;
We are in the process of looking into  upgrading from our current Oracle 9.1.0.8 to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2): Windows
We would like to download and install the 10.2.0.1 base release (Oracle Software).   When I go on SAP Marketplace
https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/oracle-download  and goto the (Software Download) section and click on
Oracle 10.2 Software (32-bit versions) to download  I receive a error  NO DATA AVAILABLE.
Is there another area to download the Oracle Software? or do I need to purchase a CD from SAP or can I download this base release straight from Oracle?
Thanks for your time and have a great day.

    Hello Pellegrino,
just download it from the SAP container for each product .. for example

  • Satellite P200-17C - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

Am looking to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, anybody done this? And was thier any problems with drivers etc?
    Thanks

    Hi
I dont know what you want to hear now exactly but you can download all drivers here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
As far as I know this P200 model belongs to the PSPB6 series.
Therefore it seems that all drivers available for Windows 7 32bit.
Generally about Vista and Windows 7 I can say that new OS runs much faster and never had a problem as yet. I can recommend it! :)

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS3? (for Windows XP)

Hi, guys. I'm new here. And I only signed up for the forums so I could ask someone for help!! Haha! So, here goes......
I recently started using Adobe CS2.
I signed up for the 30 day trial of RadLab by Totally Rad. It worked fine, but my trial expired before I could finish the photos I had been editing. So I uninstalled the RadLab trial, signed up for a new trial with a different e-mail address, and re-installed it. Only, this time, RadLab wouldn't work. So I contacted Totally Rad and the guy told me that RadLab won't work on CS2. It has to be CS3 or higher. (I'm still confused as to how RadLab worked for 30 days on my CS2 if it supposedly only works on CS3 or higher)...
So, now, I am looking to upgrade from CS2 to CS3... but I don't know where to look. I tried Google, but nothing seems to match what I'm looking for. I would hate to upgrade all the way up to CS5, because I don't think my PC could handle it. (I've been told that CS5 takes up a lot of room, and I don't think my computer is strong enough to hold it all. My memory capabilities are very limited. Even with CS2, I couldn't open/edit much all at once.)
I say all that, to ask this...
How do I go about upgrading from CS2 to CS3, and it not cost me an arm and a leg? I'm on a super-tight budget ($150 is the absolute highest I'm willing to go). I'm unemployed and money is extremely tight.
Thank you in advance for your help!!

I don't want to burst your bubble about using Photoshop CS3, but I would expect any software with good trialware security to not work twice on the same system no matter whether you sign up with a different eMail address.  They'd be stupid not to have it work that way.
If you need the software to get your project done, why not actually buy it?
You're no doubt expecting to derive value from your project...  Shouldn't the people who worked to create the software you're using derive some value from their work as well?
I can appreciate your being on a budget, but the old saying "if you want to play you have to pay" comes to mind.  I'm sorry to be blunt.

  • Looking to upgrade graphics card on early 2009 Mac Pro

I'm a Final Cut Pro, Motion user looking to upgrade from the standard NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 on my early 2009 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro.
Between the ATI Radeon 5770 and 5870 which card is preferable for video work? Is the 5870 worth the extra money for what I do? Are both of these cards compatible with my machine?
    Thanks.

In my usage experience, the current generation of Final cut studio doesn't benefit much from the jump from a 5770 to a 5870. Barefeats.com benchmarks back this up more or less.
I think in the long run, with GPGPU and push towards openCL, the 5870 is worth the extra $200 if buying a new mac pro -
if you are upgrading an old mac pro, you'd have to decide.
The 5770 will be so much faster than the GT120 running Motion, I know you would be content with that.

  • Upgrading from CR2008 to CR2011

We write our Reports in Crystal Developer (currently on CR2008 SP1).
We have a VB.NET 2010 executable that is called from our non-VB.NET program that uses the CR2008 Crystal for .NET components to generate/output/render the Crystal Reports we created in the Developer edition.
We deploy these reports and the Crystal 2008 runtime components (using the .msm files) to our customers who can then run the reports.
We are looking to upgrade from CR2008 to CR2011.  I have some questions that I haven't been able to find the answers for in this forum:
    1.  I see I can purchase the SAP Crystal Reports, upgrade for $295.00, is this the developer edition?
    2.  I have reviewed the CR2011 user's guide. Is there any document that specifically lists the changes between CR2008 & CR2011?
    3.  When we upgrade, it is a three step process:
we will need to open all our CRreports

I really do love your questions.
The reason to upgrade to CR2011 is to have the 'latest and greatest' version of the software out there, and get our reports up-to-date on the latest version. If there is no need to upgrade to CR2011, then we won't. What do you recommend?
    - I'd prefer to stay out of the recommendation , but you may be able to determine that CR 2011 has some new feature(s) you can not live without. That's a decision you'll have to make. Perhaps contacting sales and asking them for a compelling reason(s) to upgrade will be the way to go. I'm being slippery I know... (BTW.; sales ph: 866-681-3435).
If you recommend not upgrading (there's no advantage to having our reports run the latest version of CR2011), then do we even need to bother upgrading the Crystal references?
    - If you want to use VS2010, then you will have to download CRVS2010. No other version of CR is supported with VS2010. Reports created in version 2008 of CR and before will work just fine with the CRVS2010 runtime.
Our VS2010 app (as it is today) is pointing to the CR2008 references and is generating our CR2008 reports just fine. So what would be the benefit of upgrading the VS2010 references to the CRVS2010 references if it is working fine?
    - You'd be in a "supported" environment. As things are, if you run into any issues as you go (be it coding, runtime deployment, etc., etc.) the 1st thing we'll tell you is; upgrade to a supported version of CR (CRVS2010).
Do we need to upgrade at all?
    - Again, if you will be using VS2010, then yes. I would upgrade to CRVS2010 without giving it a second thought. That does not mean you need CR 2011 though...

  • Where do I go to upgrade from Illustrator CS 5 to CS 6

I'm looking to upgrade from Illustrator CS 5 to CS 6. Where do I go to purchase the upgrade. Can I still do it on the Adobe site? Will this version of Illustrator work with my Imac. I have a 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo with 2 Gigs of sdram. I purchased this Imac in 2007. Thanks for your help.

Adobe has made it a convoluted maze of links to find anything other than their cloud offerings, have a look here:
    https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_ creativesuite6.html?start=10
Click on the Illustrator CS6 "Buy" button, the select "Upgrade" from the "I want to buy" drop down, proceed as directed from there.

  • Upgrade from gimp?

I'm looking to upgrade from Gimp to Photoshop for graphics creation for website and apps - but am unsure of the benefits and costs - are there any good pointers here, and what would I have to do w/ all of my existing projects?
    thanks.

Photoshop does not open XCF files but you can save PSD files from GIMP to open into Photoshop.
One of the major benefits with Photoshop is true CMYK editing. However, I can't see that as a benefit to you if you are not designing for print. As a step up from GIMP, you might look at Adobe Fireworks instead. Fireworks is better suited for UI design and prototyping.

  • Upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1

    I am looking at upgrading from 4.0 sp4 patch 9 to 4.1
if download and run anything like SBOP BI Platform Servers 4.1 SP02 Patch5 - Update  i get an error that i don't have the correct version of bi platform installed. What do i have to download to update from 4.0 to 4.1.
    should i download and install
SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform Servers 4.1 SP02 - Update  (just the Update without a patch)
    and then add patches?
    also:
I am assuming that as long as i don't need the added functionality provided I can skip the steps below correct?
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-48364
the main feature we are looking to add is smart view from  BI4.0 SP05 and i just want to make sure that will be avialable without having to remove the origional install.

    Hi,
When you are going from 4.0 to 4.1 you need to download the "patch" update to the Support Pack (SP) you are going to in 4.1
That is to say, the downloads are broken into Full Installs and Patches / updates. Additionally we have Patches to those SPs.
So if you are going from BI 4.0 SP 04 Patch 4.9 to BI 4.1 SP 02 Patch 2.5 then you have to first install the 4.1 SP02 patch update to 4.0 and then apply Patch 2.5 update to the platform.
One thing to note - what DB are you currently using? If it's the one provided with the product, this DB has changed between these versions. 4.0 pre SP05 had DB2 on Unix and MSSQL on Windows. As of SP05 we've moved the SAP SQLAnywhere.
This can cause problems if you "repair" the installation - something support will recommend for a lot of different reasons and when it does this, it will remove the DB2 or MSSQL installation. The repair basically un-installs and re-installs the application. During the install part of the repair it will install SQLAnywhere once again, but the repository will be in your old DB (which isn't installed anymore) and that can give problems.
My recommendation IF you are running the provided DB is that AFTER you install the upgrade you migrate the data and connection of the CMS Repository from the old CMS repository database, to the new database provided. You can do this with the CCM DB copy functionality. Once you do this you will be on the SQLAnywhere DB and you won't run into the issue with the repair.
if you are running any OTHER DB - that is to say, you are not using the one installed with the product and you have a separate installation of the DB then you will NOT be affected by this issue. So if you're running DB2, Oracle, SQLAnywhere, HANA, MSSQL, etc from a separate source of installation, you are not going to be affected by running a repair.

  • Upgrading from macbook white to imac...which one?

Im looking to upgrade from my macbook white (nearly 2 and a half years old now) to a new imac.
Spec: 2.1 ghz intel core duo, 4gb ram, 120 gb hard drive, 500gb external seagate HD, 160gb external seagate HD
I am running logic 8 and use AU's such as all the native instruments ones, Rob Papen synths and Spectrasonics instruments a lot (normally running at least 10 instances of each in a project). Everything i do is software based and i am not currently running an external audio interface but i will probably get one to connect my mackies and my decks.
My macbook is now struggling to keep up with it all and regularly cuts out while playing which gets very frustrating, therefore i feel it is time to upgrade.
I dont have much money and am looking at buying the basic imac available on the apple site. Would the step up from 2.1ghz dual core to 3.06 ghz i3 processor be significant and very noticable i.e. would it stop logic cutting out while playing? or is it actually worth going for a quad core even though the i3 processor can run 4 threads at once?
Also, is it worth going all out on 8gb of ram or would it not be worth it if i wasnt running a much more powerful processor?
Any issues with the hard drive, graphics cards etc?
Obviously a new imac will have a significantly improved performance to a 2 and half year old basic macbook white but i just need to know if it is worth spending a lot more money on a more top spec imac since i cannot afford to be upgrading very often.
    Matt

Even the lowest end base model iMac would be a pretty significant jump from what you have now. The amount of RAM would be the same, but the RAM in your laptop is almost certainly DDR2, while the new system would be DDR3-1333, and the Core i3 has an integrated memory controller which further reduces memory latency. Add to that hyperthreading, and I believe even Turbo Boost, it will make for a very nice step up.
What I would suggest doing, is trying things out with 4GB of RAM and see how it goes for say a month. If after some sufficient period of time, like a month or at least a couple weeks, you need more RAM, it's a lot cheaper to add it aftermarket. Any DDR3-1333 (Non-ECC) SO-DIMM should work. All you need is a Philips #2 screwdriver to remove a couple (captive) screws on the panel on the bottom edge of the system. There are 4 memory banks there you can fill. I want to think the current iMacs can take up to 32GB of RAM in a 4x8GB config.
You might want to consider scraping together just a little extra money for the i5 model however. Long term, it's going to provide better performance. Four physical cores will trump two hyperthreaded cores pretty much any day of the week. There's nothing wrong with the i3, it'll be a big improvement over what you have. However, given what you say you do with your system, the i5 is going to be a significantly better choice if you can find the money.

Hi, Its weird looking at your post as I made exactly the same step with exactly the same gear only a few months ago. I went for the 3.06 GHz and 8GB Ram, however I've subsequently realised that upgrading to 8 may have been an error, it obviously costs a lot and I don't think that my speed seems to have improved that much, saying that I never had that much trouble in the past.
It comes with 4GB as standard anyway so you might be better sticking with that first, see how you get on and then upgrade later. You can buy RAM from cheaper places than apple anyway!
