Lookout activation of home computer

i have a lookout 6.7.1 disk and installed it own a home computer.  I got a activaiton 20 caricater coder from support using the serial number of the computer ID. it does not work. i got a reference number #2260731 .  i run lookout and go to the page for the 20 character activation code and it says these activation codes do not correspond to any of the porducts you are activaing.  Local support cannot help.

So you called NI,
they got you an unlock code for the specific computer ID of this machine for the version of Lookout you are trying to activate and it fails?
Thats a new one.

  • HT2688 ihave purchased an apple tv box, and now want to activate home sharing on my computer, and as i am not computer sauvy, i  am  having trouble  activating  the home share .

i need help activating the home sharing, i went to i tunes and it talked about the product butnowhere what to do to activate it.

    Hello!
I have come across the same issue and chose your response to reply to since it seems to be the most recent- First, the set up at the house:
    MacBook Pro mid-2010
    AppleTV Gen2
    Belkin router
    Two iPhones- 4s
iPad 3- Retina / WiFi only (set up with a different apple id- wife's iPad)
So- I have the same apple ID set up on the laptop, apple TV and my phone.  Home Sharing is set to the same account on all these devices and the AppleTV does not recognize any of them.  I do not see the Apple TV, nor the laptop, in the remote app on my phone.
I have the network set with a password in WPA/WPA2 mode and no firewall set up on with the router or the laptop...
    Help?
I've read through many comments about ipV6- but that seemed to be based on windows machines, I've read that a mid 2010 MacBook Pro doesn't have the guts to handle homesharing, I have restarted and restored the appleTV as well as logged everything out and back in again...
Not sure where to go from here- thanks for any guidance.

  • Web hosting on home computer not responding (sometimes)

Using iWeb I published my personal website to my home computer, an iMac with i3 processor. Sometimes it works fine, but other times the website fails to open' because the server where this page is located isn’t responding,'  I figure this is probably because the computer is sleeping at the time, even though I set the Energy Saver in Preferences to 'Wake for Network Access'. Is this an inherent problem with web hosting on a personal computer, or a fixable problem? Hosting on one's own computer seems like a great idea, no size limits, no ads on 'free' hosting sites, but this is a drag.

You're using "client think" and not "server think".
    Servers do not sleep.
Technically, various servers can and do power down some system components, but web-facing servers are almost never configured to go into a low-power sleep state.
Most servers aren't usually receiving nor expecting a WoL packet from remote (off-LAN) clients, nor should there be a way for a remote client to explicitly send a WoL to a server that's configured for WoL.
Yes, you can see server farms using WoL within the farm, but that's typically in response to an increase in server load and the actions of internal server and network processing.  If the load is spiking, toss a few WoL packets and spool up another server or two.  And you can and usually do see solutions akin to the Xserve Lights-Out Management (LOM) board or an HP iLO management processor, and where the server is shut down, but the management processor remains awake and active.
And I would disagree with the degree of certainty expressed by etresoft here.  There can be reasons to run local servers.  Yes, that's not typical, and yes, there can be good deals with hosted services, and yes, the connections can be bandwidth-limited.  But there can be reasons for some individuals and organizations to host locally.

  • HT204406 I have multiple libraries - one on my work computer and one on my home computer. Can I connect both libraries (with different content) to itchTunes Ma without losing one or the other? I'd like to add what I have at work to what I have at home, et

I subscribed iTunes Match in the hopes that I could combine my two libraries remotely. Essentially I have two awesome collections of music, one at work and one at home. I wanted to be able to access my work tunes from my library at home, and vice versa if possible as well as from my iphone. Now that I've activated match on my work comp though, is it going to wipe out my library at home once I connect to match from my personal mac? I'm wondering if this will happen because when I associated my iphone with match, it told me it was going to replace my iphone music library with the match (work) library. I haven't associated my home computer library with it yet, because I'm worried it will wipe out the music I have there that isn't already in the cloud. How do I access what I've added to Match from my work computer, so that I can add it to my home computer, without losing what's already there?

when you open the app store scroll down to the bottom it will display the apple id currently in use, change it to your normal apple id email

I have Adobe Photoshop CS5 installed in two computers. The hard drive of my home computer crashed and I had no time to deactivate the software. The hard drive needed to be formatted. How can I activate the software CS5 again ? Thank you for an answer.

If it's the same computer, same CPU and same HD, no de-activation or re-activation should be necessary.
Install from scratch and apply all updates manually.
Please do a forum search.  I and others have repeatedly answered the question about failed updates of CS5 a whole bunch of times recently.
Bottom line:  the Adobe auto updater is utterly useless in CS5 and prior versions.  You need to download the updates and apply them manually yourself.
I and others have even supplied the links for Mac and Win, which you haven't even bothered to specify.

  • I need to connect my mac air with my mac mini home computer?

I cannot find out what is needed to connect my mac air with my home computer, a mac mint

If you have a WiFi network at home, the MBA should easily connect to the Mac mini or vice-versa for anything from file sharing, oprical disc sharing, or even screen sharing. Start in System Preferences > Sharing and turn on the desired services. In that same panel you can choose whether that access is for all users or for specific user accounts on the particular system.
Then go to the other computer and open Finder then look under "shared" and select the computer you want to share. If you have activated screen sharing as well as file sharing you will actually have logon to both shares using the user account and password for the user you specified on the other machine.

  • Using iPhone with no home computer

My dad is considering trading in his old prepaid cell phone for one that will let him do more things like: email, pictures, and limited web browsing. Plus, he likes the idea of reading eBooks. I'm recommending the iPhone to him. However, here's the problem - he does not have a home computer (and consequently has no Internet access, either).
I'm fine with him occasionally syncing to my mac for backups and upgrades, but he lives in a different state and we won't be able to do this often.
My question is this: Is a desktop computer with Internet access absolutely required for activation and normal day to day operation of the iPhone?
    Thanks for any feedback.

The requirements of owning an iphone are printed on the box.
of these requirements, they include the following:
"Requirements: Minimum wireless service plan required to activate all iPhone features, including iPod Features (1) * Mac or PC with USB 2.0 * Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later, Windows XP Home or professional (SP2), or Windows Vista * iTunes 7.7 or later required for some features (free download from www.apple.com/itunes/download) * iTunes Store Account (2) * Internet access (3)"
I would strongly recommend a computer with internet access in case you need to restore the software or anything like that.

  • My main home computer is down at the same time i purchased my 5. Cannot get it to sync off laptop and update my apple ID

Bought the 5. Started getting texts to other family member phones. Was told to change my ID.  I did.  Doesn't register on my phone. Went to sync to update that. Home computer died. I really want my new Apple ID to sync to my phone.

    Hey Dug1970,
It sounds like you were told to create a new Apple ID due to receiving other family members iMessages. The following articles provide the most relevant informatio to your issue:

  • VLM licenses "Already activated on another computer"?

I already had at least one user with this issue before receiving our recently renewed VLM license.  We use VLM licenses in disconnected mode exclusively as most users or are located in satellite offices.
In the license manager on the end user's machine, the status says "Already activated on another computer".   The Note says "Contained in a disconnected license" blah blah blah ...
The documentation says "Note  Disconnected and home license files generated by NI Volume License Manager do not need to be activated.".  However, these users keep getting asked to activate.

    Julie,
National Instruments products' activation revolves around the Computer ID.  The Computer ID is based on the physical (MAC) address of the network card by default. If either a network card is replaced or multiple network cards are present, the changing MAC addresses might result in unactivated software. You can confirm this by checking out the computer ID in the client computer's License manager and VLM on server. They probably no match each other.
In order to remedy this situation, contact National Instruments support (ni.com/ask) so that a Computer ID can be generated which is based on the hard drive serial number of your computer rather than the physical (MAC) address.

  • VNC from my office to my home computer

    Dear Users,

ik was wondering if there is a vnc login software, or other way, i can VNC from my office to my home computer whitout reconfiguring my home router or my office router or any other freaky networking hardware/software stuff?
    please let me know!
    Greetingz,

I would suggest to first read into port forwarding to better understand what your're doing. Then you can use sites like http://portforward.com/ to get the info for your particular router model.
Basically you need to accomplish the following:
    • Your Mac needs to have a static local IP address
    • The router needs to be set up to forward ports(*) to the Mac's IP
    • The corresponding service must be active on your Mac (FTP, AFP, SSH, etc.)
*You need to know the port number(s) and protocol(s) used by the service. For example AFP (Apple File Protocol) uses port 548 TCP.
Additionally you need to know your external IP. That's the one your router gets from your ISP. Since this usually changes every 24 hours, it's a good idea to use a dynamic DNS service like http://www.dyndns.com/ which will give you a hostname that always reflects your current IP and therefore you only need to remember the hostname instead of a new IP every 24 hours. This, of course, requires your router to have a Dynamic DNS option, otherwise you will need to download a software client for your Mac which takes care of it.

  • Malicious or not? Message popped up: Mozilla security found (something like too much, forget exact word) activity on your computer so it will do a fast scan of system file. With OK button.

I was looking at youtube.com, which always tells me my browser is not supported and recommends I download Firefox, but that is what I was using, so I went to Firefox to check for updates. (I think I also had freecycle.org open.) Then this message popped up in a new page: Mozilla security found (something like "too much", forget exact word) activity on your computer so it will do a fast scan of system file. There was an OK button. The page address was: http://update17.stegner.ce.ms/index.php?Q7Lhl9ShbRxGJXpkM1VLSi4ZE8H4pTedoVPySgeppM3VpC+thEspcFG7qxHgn1pdsC2h5ygPGWI3t5hXqMzL9EQaZZ3J1e3CKXgCb0Qp. I did not click OK but copied the link and closed the window which closed the internet. I have never seen this before and would like to know if it is really Mozilla or possibly something malicious. Thank you.

Good catch. That almost certainly is an invitation to download malware.
There are a lot of infected web sites pushing "fake antivirus" software. If you have any doubts about whether your system might have become infected, you can supplement your regular security software with these two highly regarded scanners:
    Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

I would like to be able to download software updates on my Iphone and Ipad at work without erasing my music.  My home computer/Itunes has all of my music saved.  is there a way to use two computers w/o erasing information?  Or can i transfer the music from my Iphone to my work computer?

    - An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. Yu can however manage music and videos among different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
    - To change syncing computer, move all the media to compute r#2
    - Connect the iPod to #2 and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note tha the iPod backup the iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.
