Lookout and allen bradley micrologix

Hi,
Does anybody know (or have experience) of connecting Lookout to an A-B Micrologix
1500?
I guess I could use the RSLink OPC server (or even DDE link) as mentioned
in another post, but I know that the 1500 is very similar to the SLC range
so can I use that?
Thanks,
John

Hi Carlos,
Thanks.
I would love to see that document. Do you know if you can use Linx Lite?

  • Lookout 5.1 comm error Allen Bradley 1784-PKTX

I have and Allen Bradley network on a 1784-PKTX card. When I configure an object to use this card I only get the ISA version 1784-KTX model. Is there new drivers available and what are the recommended ways of using this particular PKTX card with Outlook 5.1. I appreciate any and all answers to this post

Have a look at this KB. It seems that Lookout doesn't support 1784-PKTX card.

One possible way is to use some other OPC Servers, and run Lookout as OPC Client.

    utilizo lookout 6.0 - 6.2

    thanks for answer me soon
First I use the DF1 to conect with the PLC I see that lookout has driver to SLC500 and It can comunicate with lookout without some OPC server like keepserver or NIServerOPC i would like to conect the PLC direct to loookout with the SLC500 drivers.
I can comunicate the lookout with keeperserver and also with NIserverOPC but i don´t want to spend more many in order to buy the OPC servers
also I can comunicate lookout with SLC 500 with the DDE topic that has RSLINK but now i want to know how can i do to comunicate lookout to SLC500 with the SCL drives that has lookout.,
    The problem is:
when i made that comunicate with the SLC drivers from lookout I had comunication error and i don´t know why?
    I use SLC 500,
    RSLINk classic.

  • Lookout drivers for Allen Bradley

Is there a driver I can Use for The Allen Bradley CompactLogix L32E Ethernet communication

I am currently facing the same issue.  I think you need to map the address to PLC5 or SLC 500 and then I believe you can use AB ethernet driver.
I will not be tackling mine for another month or two but is on my upcoming project list.

  • Lookout communication to a micrologix 1500 via 1761-Net-ENI

We are running Lookout 5.0 server/client setup. We have a number of Allen Bradley SLC500 we communicate with via ethernet. We have just installed 2 new UV water disinfection units that are controlled with Allen Bradley Micro Logix 1500 PLCs. The 1500s are connected serially to a AB 1761-NET-ENI ethernet module/gateway. After setting up an AB Logix Driver in our Lookout server using the ethernet interface option from the drop down list, I'm still unable to communicate with the 1500. Is there a solution to this problem without running a OPC server to communicate with the 1500.

Another thing to think about is the '4 user' limit to the net-eni. We had this issue at our facility.
A vendor brought in a new system, it had seversl MicroLogix's with net-eni's on them. They supplied their own mmi package. It consisted of 2 pc's running RS-View. There was a ControLogix5000 running 'supervisory' diuties, talking to all the micros.
I wanted to gather some performance data with our lookout server, however it couldn't 'find' the MicroLogix.
After some calls to AB, we were informed that the net-eni would only talk to 4 devices at a time. 2 of them was to the RS-View pc's, 1 was to the ControLogix5000, and the last one was being used by the PLC Programmer's computer's RSLinx (which he keeps running all the time). so there went the 4 'slots' and Lookout couldn't talk to them.
We decided that we would do a com request in the ControLogix to get the info, and read it into a register, then talk to the ControLogix with Lookout.

  • Map Allen Bradley 1400 addresses to NI Modbus addresses

    Hi,
How do I map Allen Bradley 1400 Micrologix addresses like (N7:0, B3:0/1, etc., etc.) to NIs modbus addresses? Can the NI DSC module access the PLC for read/write operations without using the NI OPC server?
Is there any tutorial or URL  which specifically addresses the above queries?
    Thanks in advance.

It's easier if you are using OPC ... you can map and bridge data between the two protocols quickly through tags (addresses).
    Here is what you need:
Modbus << OPC Data Manager >> Allen Bradley
Data Manager allows one-to-one, one-to-many, and many to many relationships between tags

  • Allen Bradley KF-2 half duplex question

Has anyone used an Allen Bradley KF-2 DH+ communication interface with Lookout? The KF-2 connects to the SLC5/04 DH+ port and converts the DH+ to DF-1. My proccess can see the SLC5/04 in half duplex mode when I connect direct to the DF-1 port. When I try to connect through the KF-2 (set up for DF-1 half duplex), I get the Error "STS error 10: Illegal command or format" message. I know the KF-2 is set up OK, I can talk to the SLC5/04 with RS Logix in half duplex.

    Hello Chad
Thanks for the pin out information. I tried that pin out configuration Monday and it did not work. I am pasting a copy of a communication with Allen Bradley in this comment box as well as a communication with another programmer that commented in here as well. Please read it and let me know what you think. Thanks again Chad.

Everything works well, from the LPD OPC Server to creating TAGS..to using the HMI wizard on the front panel,...but there is no communication with my hardware. An NI Application Engineer came by yesterday and we concluded that this was a hardware ware communication problem. I talked with an Automation Engineer in Austin yesterday and he told me to try RSLinx and see if I could get it to communicate with the hardware. I like that HMI wizard, it is pretty cool! I am pasting a copy of an email I sent to Allen Bradley so you can see a little bit more information about my hardware. thanks for your help again Khalid.
{{{I am having much difficulty in communicating to my PLC 2 communication port or through my RS-232 port on my 1771-KG card. I am using a serial (null modem) cable on com port 1 on my PC. I have Win98 operating system. I am using LabView Datalogging and Supervisory control (Lookout) software to create several HMI?s. Can you please give me the pinouts that I need to communicate with the processor port on the PLC and or the 1771-KG card? Please contact me as soon as possible for I really need to get this to communicate so I can get started on this HMI upgrade. We are using PanelMates as HMI?s, but they are 13 years old and are failing frequently as well as being obsolete. At the present time I am creating new HMI?s but we are planning to do one fuel processing line at a time and replacing the PLC 2.3 with PLC-5 and then we can use the Ethernet module. Please call me at 313-972-4635 I do not have my own email at work so you will need to email any communications to my supervisor Fred Jacobsen he then will pass it on to me. • Allen bradley l35e plc interface to Honeywell EBI

    To All,
I'm trying to interface an Allen Bradley L35E PLC with Honeywell's EBI system.  I'm hoping someone out there has accomplished this successfully.
    Kind Regards,
    SDMAC

AB PLC talks with EtherNet\IP on Ethernet Networks..
PLC5, MLX Series PLC uses DF1 Protocol for Serial RS232 Communication.
Lower End AB PLC's/Net-ENI Modules uses DF1 Protocol encapsulated with EtherNet\IP CIP Services for cummunication.
Latest AB PLCs uses EtherNet\IP(Pure CIP Services) for communication. Check, http:\\www.odva.org for more details into these protocols. With NI-OPC Servers, Lower End AB PLCs such as MLX Series, PLC5 Series can be integrated with LabVIEW. however., NI OPC Server doesnot supports Control Logix and Compact Logix PLCs.
If you are looking for some low cost solution to integrate All kind of AB PLCs with LabVIEW Software, Check this link, http://forums.lavag.org/Industrial-EtherNet-EtherNet-IP-t9041.html&p=35563#entry35563

  • Password 1395 Allen Bradley HELP PLEASE !!!

Please help, I have a machine down, and believe it or not, I actually have a spare Allen Bradley 1395 Digital DC drive complete working spare 200hp drive, but someone put a password in it, and I need to get around it or reset it so I can reconfigure my settings and communication. The password can be something like 1 to 56335, it would take years to guess it. I contacted AB by phone, but despite the fact that I have a quantity of two of their $26,000.00 drives, they want a $500 purchase order to have a tech give me the back door password. Someone must surely know how to do this. I have a DHT (1300) programming module connected to it, and I can view all of the parameters in monitor mode, but I NEED the password to do some parameter adjustments post haste. [email protected]

If your computer doesn't recognize the card, you'd better ask AB for help.
By the way, Lookout currently doesn't support PCI 1784-PKTX card, because AB doesn't release its API.

  • RT webservice on allen-bradley panelview HMI?

    Hello,
anywhere I can find the requirement for the browser that will be used to display wedsites from a RT target?
I've made a simple VI, just some controls and indicators, and I can easily see it IE (even with silverlight disabled) - but the HMI only shows the title, and then an empty picturebox where the VI was expected to be.
I actually just want to show a picture on the webpage, nothing more - any ideas?

    Hi Henrik.
You also need to install the LabVIEW Run-Time enginer in order to get Remote Front Panel to work. After this installation, you should be able to use Internet Explore. I have also tried using Firefox, and that seemed to work just fine.
How Can I Display a Remote Front Panel on my Host Computer?
I don't know the HMIs that Allen-bradley is making, but according to this link
    http://www.ab.com/en/epub/catalogs/12762/2181376/1239781/1670480/10791114/12293528/Introduction.html
it seems they are running on Windows 6.0 CE with limited functionality.
I would recommand a newer OS, like WES7 that are supported by NI.

Another idea is to use Data Dashboard. With this, you can publish data over LAN, and connect an iPad that they are able to show the data, and even give new inputs to your LabVIEW aplication.
