Lookout executable encountered problem

Hi guys,
We have lookout 5.0 installed(one server and 3 clients). Before all systems were working ok. But last one month, im facing several issues like:
1. one or two clients get stucked. And when i Restart the server all start working again.
2. Sometimes graphs are not get plotted then again restarting the server solve the problem. But restarting server everyday or two!!!! I reformated the server but same problem persists. system specs are 3 gb ram, 500 gb harddisk and win xp.
3. another issue  im facing since yesterday whenever i try to make changes and save them... it get stucked and message pops up lookout encountered problem and needs to close......
please help me its quite urgent

Thank you for this update, Ryan.
The OS on this PC is WindowsXP Pro, with the lastest SP3. It has just updated Windows few weeks ago.
I thought that the problem might be with this oleaut32.dll, but if you don't recommend replacing it I will not do it.
One additional comment regarding this error: I have noticed some time ago that when I use AB driver (OPC) the process edits faulted very often. It was happening often when I tried to create a new object with AB OPC driver. I thought at that time that the issue might be with OPC driver, but I was never sure of that. Now I use Automation Direct OPC driver and it also stops running, but less often. My OPC servers run fine as far as I can see it. This might be just a coincidence, you might be more familiar with Lookout and errors. If it comes from Windows I will try to create a new process and follow your recommendations.

  • Lookout executable has encountered a problem and it needs to close down

    Hello,
I am running Lookout 4.5.1 (build 18) and very often it shows the error "Lookout executable has encountered a problem and needs to close down". I tried to reload Lookout but that did not solve it. The problem only appears when I start editing my process (it is not in run mode, only in edit for now until our processes are ready). And to further complicate the issue it only happens sometimes. I , maybe 2-3 times in a row when I restart Lookout. Then Lookout executes correctly and the software runs fine. What could be the reason for it?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Lookout executable has stopped working

Windows gives me the error 'Lookout executable has stopped working'.
Lookout 6.6 development version, Windows 7 on Dell Latitude.
This occurred a couple of times now, and the only fix is to completely reload Lookout.
Has anyone seen this problem before?

    Some drivers can cause this.
We have an Ethernet serial convertor and if the network drops, lookout will hang.  If you click the screen, it will stop responding.  After the adapter is reconnected, lookout usually recovers within 2-5 minutes.
Have also had happen with a lot of Modbus TCP sites and changing datamember aliases.

hiii . i have encountere a problem . my notes app are not syncing in my ipad and iphone . plz help

    Hi marcmartineau,
I'm not sure why this is happening, but I think I'm seeing the same thing. Many times when I get an email on the iPad or iPhone with a picture attached, I don't see the picture but instead just a placeholder icon.
I have found a work around though to at least see the picture. If I forward it and include the attachment, I see the picture in the outgoing email. I can even save the image from the sending email if I really don't want to send it. If i do send it to myself, chances are I will see the picture in the email when I receive it even though it's just a resend of the original.

  • Lookout opc or link problems

I am using Lookout 6.0.2 on a new Win XP desktop.  The Lookout OPC client object is used for communications via Rockwell Software RSLinx's (Professional Rev 2.43.01.23) OPC server to ControlLogix PLC's over ethernet.  In other words, the Lookout communicates with RSLinx by OPC, and the RSLinx communicates with PLC's by ControlNet.
We have 3 Lookout processes, one which is the "server" process, and contains the OPC Client object. The other 2 process files are "client" processes, and reference the OPC Client object  by symbolic link.
We have many Lookout switches in the "client" processes, that are remoted to a tag in the ControlLogix PLC using symbolic link. A typical link for a remoted switch is:
    ..\..\[Link_to_Drivers]\OPCclient1.PLC_12.Online.SWITCH_TAGNAME
OR   IF USING ABSOLUTE REFERENCE:   \\ComputerName\ProcessName\[Link_to_Drivers]\OPCclient1.PLC_12.Online.SWITCH_TAGNAME
In this  way, the Lookout switch object has a read/write link.
The problem is this:  Periodically the write link will stop working.  When this happens, all the Lookout switches and even the Lookout pots will lose ability to write to PLC, but the read links are still working. We can read the data and the switch positions, but the changing setpoints with the pots and operating equipment with the switches is then impossible.  This "lock up" can be fixed by closing down all the Lookout processes (but not Lookout), and then restarting the Lookout processes.
This problem is intermittant and not repeatable.  Does anyone have idea how to troubleshoot this problem, or have an way to isolate and fix this problem? Thanks!

This problem is fixed by lookout 6.0.2 updates. It can be downloaded from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/506/lang/en
You need first to login MyNI, and then download lo602_updates.zip. Unzip it and copy all files to lookout folder.
This update is applied to Lookout 6.0.2 server system. You don't need to copy these files to client system.

  • Opens but encounters a problem and closes

initially had a problem with after reinstalling iTunes that ITunes Library.itl could not be read because of newer version. However, after following matt00's instructions to re-create the library and playlists, it did not work.  I then followed instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376?viewlocale=enUS emailed to me from the Apple Store in Norwich (UK) to uninstall the following in order...
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
and then reinstall iTunes ...Now iTunes opens without access to my library and attempting to open iTunes store only 'encounters a problem' and closes after I send Windows the requested report.  How do I get iTunes to work properly?
    Regards
    Ian Cockayne

If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turing off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
Assuming we're talking of the same issue (there are several) it seems to be a problem with this build of  iTunes affecting a small number of users. It is as yet unclear exactly why, or how to fix completely.

  • Itunes 7.1.1.5 will not execute.  Major Problem

I've been using Itunes since 2005. Recently, for reasons I can't explain, it stopped working. I did not download or install any new programs, it just would no longer execute.
I unistalled, and downloaded the most recent itunes 7.1.1.15, setup, and it won't start. I get only error messages.
I downloaded Registry Mechanic to clean out my registry. After doing so, I uninstalled and reinstalled again, only to have the same problem.
After reading of many others having similar problems, I also tried to use an older version of Itunes, but the only other one I have on this computer is from 2005, and that too would not work.
The software is clearly not working as intended. My system is Intel 3.4 cpu, Nividia 6800, 2 gigs Corsair Ram, Western Digital 10k rpm Hard Drive, Creative Labs Sound Card, etc.
We need the software at apple to take a hard look at its code and figure out what is going on here. One quick glance at this message board illustrates I am clearly not alone with this problem, and customer support on the phone was no help at all.
A long time customer, with no working Itunes.

    Hello b noir.
    This is Foreveryoung's father.
The error message is the Microsoft Error message that simply asks if you wish to report the problem. It is not a specific error message like you are looking for.
The program unistalled and installed fine. The problem is it won't open. When we attempt to execute the program, we get the error described above.
When I run the Registry Mechanic software and clean it all up so there are zero errors, I reinstall itunes. and find there are two programs conflicting when I run the Regeistry Mechanic again. This feels like it may be pointing to what may be the source of the problem, but we have no clue why this is happening as we have not installed any new programs or software in months.
My intuition tells me there is some conflict the software itself has created. The coders at Apple need to update this file with the code to remove all prior registry and other related imbedded info., so when it installs, there is no reason for a conflict. I am not a coder, but there are far too many similar posts for me to believe this is unique to our system, plus I am fairly computer savy.
Please consider how few of the ipod customers use these forums, and those that do manage to call in customer support, are told they can't help us, to call Microsoft.
Please get the coding area to clean up this software. We are totally stuck.
    Thank you -CC

  • Add a Data Action to Execute a Method - Problem

    Hi,
I'm working with JDeveloper 10.1.3 - JSP,Struts and ADF BC.
I have a method that retruns 2 values (audit(Number,Number)) and exposed the Service Metod, but now I need to add a Data Action to Execute that method.
I already add an Data Action icon to my Page Flow Diagram but what do I need to do next?
Can anyone help me? Any ideias?
    Thanks,

    Hi Shay,
I have one problem because how can I create a JSP Page to display Method Results in JDeveloper10.1.3???
I already created another page and tried to Drag and Drop my Method from Data Control Palette, but I only have the choice to create a button and I would like to see the result.
Adding a c:out tag to the JSP page.
Can you help me with this problem??

  • Executing external commands problem

    Hi,
I have the following problem. I need to execute an external command on Linux (ffmpeg for example), but I want it to keep running even after my program exits.
Any ideas how this could be done? I thought Runtime.exec() is the way to go, but as soon as my program terminates, so does the execution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan Gueorguiev

That was a good idea. Didn't know about nohup. I
tried it but it doesn't seem to work.
The command starts to execute but the program doesn't
    continue its execution.
this is what I have so far
    myCommand = "nohup " + myCommand;
ps9= Runtime.getRuntime().exec(myCommand);Where myCommand is a huge string with a lot of
    command line options.
Any clues as to why that won't work?
And is there a native java way to do this, without
    nohup.
    Thanks,
StefanI tried to say that you should place that in a script file, and execute the script file from your application. (The script file can take arguments)
    Description of nohup:
"Run a command immune to hangups, runs the given COMMAND with hangup signals ignored, so that the command can continue running in the background after you log out."
The & after the command means that the process should run in the background.

  • Itunes says it encounters a problem when trying to open. What do I do?

Whenever I try to open itunes it says that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. It gives me the options to send an error report, don't send, and debug. Itunes was working fine earlier but it froze and now I can't open it again. My operating system is windows XP (Yes an old computer). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes several times and double checked that all atachments of itunes were deleted before restarting my computer to reinstall itunes both times. What's the issue? Thanks in advance.

Generate another of those error messages and click the "Click here" link in the error message box. What modname and modver are showing for the error? (Precise spelling please.)
If the error is a BEX and thus doesn't show an modname or modver, let us know what P1 through P9 items are showing for you instead.

  • Itunes encounters a problem and needs to close

This is the error I suddenly started getting today when I try to open itunes. Also, when I try to open quicktime or watch something in quicktime nothing happens (no error and it doesn't open). I feel this is a problem with quicktime since itunes needs that program. Any suggestions? It's SO frustrating!

First try installing "Quicktime WITHOUT iTunes" here, THEN try opening itunes http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
