Looong pause when connecting ipod and itunes,,,

Made a mistake last night, and reinstalled XP. I had to in order to fix system problems. Both ipod and itunes both were working fine, After reinstall and fresh install of 7.5 itunes, now when I open itunes and connect the ipod there is a looooong pause before it is seen and I can use itunes, or even XP. I may try to uninstall 7.5 and reinstall 7.4.3 and cross my fingers. Seriously tempted to get a 5.5g to skip all these pita bugs.

    Hello penel2907,
This could be due to a hardware issue. You may try using a different USB port on your computer.

Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. Hi all. Never had any problems with iTunes over the past 6 or 7 years but suddenly (in last week or two) I can't play any songs with 10.6.1. I can select songs and get the speaker symbol, but the song does not play and the indicator stays at 0, while the play button is replaced by the pause button, as it normally does when a song is playing. I am using a one year old PC with Windows 7 and have had no other issues. Tried starting iTunes in safe mode...same result.Thoughts? Thanks.

  • ITunes stop working when connecting ipod 4th generation on Vista

When connecting ipod 4th generation to a computer running Vista Ultimate, ITunes (version 8) closes. Windows provide the following message - iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Thanks!

i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • HT2305 when connecting to the itunes store i get a mess: (itunes has stopped working) all i can do is close the peogram. i was on the phoine with apple today over 2 hrs still cant fix it

when connecting to the itunes store i get a mess: (itunes has stopped working) all i can do is close the peogram. i was on the phoine with apple today over 2 hrs still cant fix it. unistalled it 3x and in the proper order. reset all internet connection to default setting, turned off virus programs ect. Even the tech at apple by remote access couldnt fix it. use microsoft fix it also no good....\

I am having the same problem now also. It happened after I updated my version. I have NEVER had this problem before as a windows user and have had iTunes for 5 years. So, I would have to say it is an Apple problem. I have not changed anything on my computer. I still have Internet Explorer and I have not even updated windows. The only thing I updated was iTunes. Now, I am not getting any response from Apple and if you call you have to pay for support. What a joke. An iPod costs $400 you would think that after paying that much you would at least get some type of help. This will now be the last time I ever by anything apple.

  • Connect Ipod to Itunes Message

My ipod's battery died on me while I was on vacation about 3 days ago. At the time I had no means of charging it, but when I returned home I attempted to charge it on my PS3 (I have done this many times and it usually works fine). When I turned my ipod on it displayed the 'connect ipod to itunes' message (a usb plug with an arrow pointing at the itunes symbol). However, I can't connect my ipod to itunes because it is locked. I can't enter my passcode on my ipod because it is frozen on the 'connect ipod to itunes' screen. This has happened to me once before but I didn't have a passcode for my ipod at the time, so I was able to access it on itunes and fix whatever was wrong. Any suggestions?

you need to force recovery mode on the ipod and then restore it.
that screen means the ipod found something wrong with itself and you need to restore anyways
when the ipod is not connected to the computer, hold down the sleep/wake button and slide to power off.
once the ipod is off, hold down the home button and do not let it go!
plug the ipod into the computer and open itunes. you should get a message stating itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode.
once you see that let go of the home button, click ok on the message then click restore in itunes.

  • IPod and iTunes Need Couples' Counseling?

OK, I've been having some really weird problems with connecting my new 4th gen iPod touch to my Windows Vista PC and getting them to recognize each other properly. I plug my iPod into my computer's USB port with the iPod USB cable, expecting my computer to recognize the iPod like it used to with my old one, and automatically bring up iTunes. But to my surprise, no such luck. The computer and the iPod don't connect properly, I guess. The weird thing is, if I open iTunes manually, the program will freeze, I will force-quit it through the task manager, and then if I disconnect and reconnect the iPod, the computer will recognize it and everything will be peachy. Until iTunes freezes again, and I have to shut it down again, and then even if I open iTunes manually, it will not recognize the iPod (which won't appear in the sidebar in iTunes the way it usually does). Anything I can do to get my iPod and iTunes back on the same page, so they will play nicely together again?
    Thanks!

What version of iTunes are you running on your PC? What about the iOS version on your iPod Touch? Is it possible that you are running iOS 4.2.1 on your iPod Touch and have an iTunes version lower than 10.1? If that is the case, try updating your iTunes to the newest release and see if that helps.

  • All songs erased from ipod and itunes

I'm trying to help a friend and learn in the process. When he turned on his ipod all the songs were gone and when itunes was opened to see about putting the 3000+ songs back on to the ipod the library had disappeared as well. He said he hadn't done anything, and he didn't back up any of the music. Is there anyway to rescue all of these songs from either itunes or the ipod? We bought and ran a program called Recover My Ipod, but it didn't work and I'm not to sure about it's reliability. Any help at all would be great it's windows xp.
      Windows XP

Don't give up on looking for the songs.
You can use Explorer to search your computer for missing songs.
On the Start menu, click "Search".
    Select "All Files and folders".
In the "All or part of the file name" field, type the song name and then click "Search".
If you see the file you are looking for in the Search Results window, you can add it back into your iTunes library.
See: How to add songs from your hard drive to iTunes.
If they truly are gone from both the iPod and iTunes, have a read of this post which offers some hope.
