Loop a video asset in Encore CS5

I need to be able to add over 100 short video assets to a project and have each video play continuously until the next button it hit on a remote which will advance to the next video in the list. Is this possible? I need each video to loop as it will play at an event and we don't know how long the video will need to play until we need to advance to the next section/video. Last time I had to do this I just repeated the video clip for a really long time so that we would be ensured that it would not advance to the next video, But I feel sure there is a better way to do this.

What you need is scripting, which Encore does not provide.
I would play with putting each video on its own timeline. Use multiple menus to branch. Use 4:3 menus even if the videos are 16:9, so you can get more buttons on a screen. You cou ld try making them black so they might not jar with the different aspect ratio of the videos. Use very short transitions and/or motion on the menus to make the menu appearance less disruptive. (Trade off with number of menus re the 1 gig limit for menus.)
For many of the videos, you are now 2 clicks away: click one "menu" (the menu option that will take you to the previous menu), then use the remotge control numbers to select the next track.
When submenu 1 is exhausted, you go back to main menu (title menu), and select submenu 2.
Yes, the operator must know what they are doing.

  • Matrox .264 assets in Encore CS5

    Hi,
    Question #1.
110 min of HD video 1920x1080 Matrox .264 file exported from Premiere timeline using Matrox MXO2 Mini with MAX. Using bit rate calculator http://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php for Blu-ray disc it came out 28500kb/s. Final size of Matrox .264 video - 21.6GB, AC3 audio - 150MB. After I imported to Encore those assets, under BUILD tab Disc Info tells me 26.67GB. HOW COME???
    Question #2.
Size of BD disc selected BD-R 25 GB. If I do Check Project - NO ERROR. After I build the BD .ISO image - massege build failed, not enough spase.
WHY it did not tell me when I did CHECK PROJECT???

    Hi,
Sometimes AuthorScript session files get corrupted and Encore throughs error code 3.
You can burn your project after removing all the files from -
    Project folder\AuthorScriptHDMVSessions\ .
If this does not solve this issue then please upload error message screenshot.
    Thanks,

  • Why do Encore CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 have intermittant Sync issues?

I am noticing that Encore CS5 is "buggy" regarding sync issues with material edited by Womble and Corel Video Studio and I am guessing other programs as well?
In high definition I take AVCHD and  edit in Corel Video Studio.  If I leave the project as one single 42 minute segment and import this asset into Encore CS5, more often than not there are bad sync issues.  To get around this I have to divide the 42 minute project into approximately 6 smaller ones- Each smaller asset ends where I had done the editing.  Encore does not have any problems now with these 6 smaller assets.
In standard definition I edit in Womble and export as a MPEG2 Program.  Sometimes Encore has a problem with the asset sync and sometimes it does not.  (I am guessing about 20% of my assets end up with a problem).  The same asset if brought into TMP or brought back into Womble does not have any sync issue.  If brought into Premiere Pro CS5 it will exhibit the same behavior as Encore- If Encore has a sync problem, so will Premiere Pro.  So to get around this I then have to go back to the original womble file and break it up into smaller pieces, at every edit point I cut and export the smaller file just after the end of the transition I applied.  With a 6 hour project I may end up with dozens of small files to get around this problem- not very efficient.
Any ideas how to fix this or why Encore is so buggy?  Would moving the original assets around in Womble- example taking something that was at the end of the timeline and then moving it to the beginning cause these issues for Encore?   Or is there some other cause?
    Encore CS5
    Premiere Pro CS5
    Windows 7 64 BIT
    Quad core
    2.4 GHZ clock speed
    6GB memory
150 GB free space on drive
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500 card

I've used VideoReDo in the past, which I believe has some similar strategies to Womble.  I found when I tested streams, that there were often problems in the source streams, and that the fix was not 100 percent.
You may also find such files that are not 100 percent the same length video to audio.
In any event, the possibility other than Encore being buggy is that the files you are bringing in have problems when Encore tries to validate them.  I'm not saying Encore doesn't have its problems, but clean mpeg files do not have sync issues ordinarily.
For some scenarios, I like your workflow (edit mpeg files in a frame accurate mpeg editor that is not retranscoding the whole file), but the results are often not consistent.
You don't say, and I would certainly look at, the nature of the audio stream you are using.  I can not tell you what the problems are, but some streams just do not edit well, even though they may play back okay in some players, but still have issues in Encore and/or Premiere.

  • Encore CS5 loss in rendered DVD chroma/saturation

    Hey,
I am trying to find out why when I bring in a video asset into Encore, why that asset losses about 10% of its chroma/saturation in the picture. Let me explain, I have rendered out a file from our editing system VT5 as an .avi uncompressed 422 file (SD 4:3 720X486 29.97). I then brought it into TMPGEnc (Tsunami MPG Encoder) and encoded the .avi uncompressed 422 file out in the setting DVD MPEG best settings. I adjusted the encoder to out put the .avi file as a .mpg file and it helped had the same aspects (chroma/saturation) as the .avi file. This is where I get lost I bring it into Encore CS5 and it does not need to be transcoded because it is a native file. I set the menu up in Encore so that it can play as a DVD and Build it out. The DVD, when played on any of the TV monitors, has lost 10% of its Chroma/saturation. I checked, thinking it was the TV monitors that were cutting down on the quality. But not so because the .avi or the .mpg file originals have not lost the same amount of Chroma/Saturation on the TV monitors, because I the TV hooked up to the TV monitor. Is there a setting in Adobe encore CS5, or any version that prevents this from happening. Either it be a setting I can change in Encore before I build, or is this just what happens to videos when put out onto a DVD using Encore. Any advise or suggestions would be great.
    Sincerely,
    Confused

Is this an NTSC, or PAL Project?
Are you viewing the output on a properly calibrated CRT monitor, either PAL, or NTSC, depending on your location?
In my NTSC Projects with EncoreDVD 2.0, I have never observed anything like this, when viewed on a calibrated NTSC monitor.
With other viewing situations, there is usually a total lack of calibration amongst consumer TV's. Only a very tiny portion have ever been properly calibrated, and the vast majority are just as they were set at the factory. Hence, they are totally useless for critical chroma/gamma judgement. There are many professional TV calibration discs available, and I strongly recommend using one to do a proper calibration of any TV, being used to critically judge quality.
    Good luck,

  • To Adobe, Are We Going to See a Fixed Encore CS5?

I am posting this as a long time Adobe user.  I have installed the CS5 suite and am using Encore CS4 because when I import pre-encoded Blu-ray assets into Encore CS5 it says the disc is full.  The assets are not too large to fit on a Blu-ray.
I see a lot of problems posted in this forum and the general attitude is wait until a fix or CS6...  Well that is what was said about CS4...
I have submitted an error report on this issue a few weeks ago.  It would be nice to know if anything was being worked on as upgrades are supposed to be an evolution of the product.  Pardon my frankness but Encore seems as if it is an afterthought compared to the rest of the CS suite.
    Thank you.

    $400.. Yikes?
I've been a long time beta tester and hadn't kept up with the retail price. I purchased the full version when I first started using it back in the Passport days, I think it was $299 back then.
I see the cheapest thing they have is "MusicTime Deluxe" (Encore Lite)  which is $120, oh well, I should've checked the price first.
    There's also the free:

But I don't know if itt's Lion compatible.

  • Adobe Encore CS5.1 producing DVDs with flickering video

Hey all, new to the forums but been using Adobe software for a couple of years now.
I've got Encore CS5.1 as part of the Adobe Master Collection CS5.5, and recently I've been using it to burn DVD videos.
I made a video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 a few weeks ago and rendered it as an mp4 file in h.264 HDTV 24fps (video recorded with my Nikon D3200 D-SLR). I then imported the mp4 file into Encore as an asset (I didn't use Dynamic Link to insert the prproj file into Encore) and burned it onto a 4.7GB DVD (no menus or anything, just a simple DVD) and it looked absolutely fine on both my PC and on the TV and the recipient of the DVD was very happy with the result. The video was 28 minutes long and 6.2GB in size.
Recently I have been making more videos in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and attempting to burn them onto DVDs using Encore CS5.1, but I've not been having so much luck.
Whenever I create a DVD with Encore, the video playback is always a bit 'flickery' no matter how I import the video into Encore (have tried using both Dynamic Link and importing the mp4 file as an asset - both result in the same problem). The video playback results in flickering lines and it's really distracting. Again, I am rendering in mp4 h.264 HDTV 24fps and burning onto 4.7GB DVDs. If I watch the video in Encore on the Monitor, it also looks a bit flickery with lines showing. The video I am trying to burn onto a DVD is 25 minutes long and 4GB (but Encore transcodes it so it's just over 1GB in size I think).
I am also trying to burn another video onto a DVD which again is rendered in h.264 but is 48 minutes and 11GB in size (Encore transcodes it so it's about 2.5GB) and the same thing happens: flickery lines which is really distracting.
I did briefly have a trial version of CS6 installed and I rendered the video again in Premiere Pro CS6 and tried burning to a DVD using Encore CS6, but still got the same results. I don't have CS6 now, I installed it purely to see if CS5.5 was the problem.
I don't understand why the first video I burned to DVD using Encore was perfect and now it seems to be giving me flickery video once it's burned to a DVD whenever I use it.
I have updated it to version 5.1.0.342 which at the time of writing is the latesrt version of CS5.1.
If anybody out there could help me that would be great, thanks!

Still flickering on Encore even when rendered in MPEG-2 DVD in Pemiere Pro CS5.5. Looks perfect in Premiere Pro.
    Any other ideas?
EDIT: Was looking for Google for people with similar problems to me and I came across this http://forums.adobe.com/message/3959757?tstart=0
I am currently re-rendering the video in PAL DV Widescreen MPEG-2 DVD and using maximum render quality.

  • Encore CS5 crashes on importing assets

I am running CS5 on a fresh install with Windows 7/ 64 bit with 8GB RAM on 2.66GHz quad CPU, NVidia GeForce 8800GT video card with latest video drivers. I also have a Matrox MX02 Mini installed.  Photoshop CS5 and PremierePro CS5 so far work perfectly.  Encore CS5 will run but crashes when I try to import an asset.  It doesn't matter what kind of an asset it is (wav, mp3, avi, mpg, etc.), it will crash.  Encore will show a window which says "Preparing Transcoding Settings", tries to import the aset, says that it has 20 or 30 minutes to go (even for tiny files), and then it crashes.  The crash involves that same message window blinking for a while (looks weird), and then the program crashes and an error message appears.  I am running the latest CS5 updates from Adobe (updated today).  However, the crashing of Encore CS5 happened even before today's update.  I need to burn a DVD pronto but I'm stuck.   Please help.

Sorry when I see disappointment and frustration and when I see someone's going to leave Adobe.
I have your same "gear" and everything works ok.
Just in case you haven't jet done it:
-download Encore update and leave it on your desktop
-uninstall completely the suite and eventually all third plug-ins
-run Adobe cleaner or go to register and clear everything that mentions your suite
    -re-start your pc
-re-install your suite with every antivirus and/or antiadware, spyware switched off (obviously don't stay connected with internet)
    -after that update your Encore
-swith on your antiviruses and re-connect with internet
-let Adobe Updater modify your other applications.
    See what happens.
Apply one by one your third plug-ins
If this will work you had to give me a pizza
Don't forget to run your applications as administrator
    Ciao

  • Imported sd video poor quality in Encore cs5

    Hi,
I have Encore cs5. Once I have imported the video files into the project panel, it won't seem to allow me to drag them into the 'create new item' box (next to the delete) bin. When I drag them from the project panel straight unto the timeline the quality of the video is severly effected. Is there something I need to do to the video in the project panel first before dragging into the timeline? And if someone can tell me why I can't get them inot the 'create new item' box that would be helpful too
    Thanks
    Simon

    Stanley,
Just speculation here, but there is not the same need for the New Icon to create a Timeline to match the source footage, as one will have fed Encore the proper Assets to begin with - it is not an NLE, like PrPro, so is greatly limited as to what one can Import.
Like you, I always use File>Import>As a Timeline (for my Video), and Import>As an Asset for the Audio, with Import>As a Menu for my PSD's. I find no reason to deviate from that workflow.
Now, if one was ganging Videos onto a common Timeline, they would do it slightly differently, but I do not do that.

  • Very poor video quality after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I have very poor video quality after transcoding the video file (MPEG) in  Adobe Encore CS5.1. Below you see my used settings in my filmproject.
The problem exists after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1. I checked all steps and found out that there is no problem until transcoding. My exported file  in MPEG has very good video and audio quality.
    Facts:
    1. Camcorder: Panasonic AG-AC160AEJ
Operating System : Windows 7, 64 Bit, Ultimate edition
    Source files: MTS files
    Recording settings (clip settings):
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 25,00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
    2. Sequence settings in Premiere Pro
Sequence was created from Clip directly with settings above.
    3. Exporting settings in Adobe Premiere Pro:
Match sequence settings was activated. Now other changes were set.
    4. Exported File:
    Video
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Data Transfer Rate: 25920 kBit / s
    Frame rate: 25
    Audio:
    Bit rate: 384 kBit / s
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Frequence: 48 kHz
    5. Transcoding settings in Adobe Encore:
I used different transcoding settings such as automatic DVD Transcoding, CBR and VBR.I also set “use maximum render quality”. But all results were always the same: very poor quality.
Why does the encore transcoding cause such bad video quality?
How can I solve this problem?
    Please help me soon.
    Best regards.

    Hi Ann,
    1) I did not only „Automatic (based on source)“ options in my tests, but also many other customized options.
The results are very poor. I have done a new test with the following settings. The result is also poor:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_mpeg2dvd_1.m2v
    Export Settings:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: Custom
Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video, Quality: 5
    Frame Rate: 25 fps
    Field Order: Upper
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Automatic (based on source)
    Render at Maximum Rate: [active]
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
    Minimum Bitrate (Mbps): 5
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    Maximum Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    GOP Settings
    M Frames: 4
    N Frames: 12
    Use Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    Multiplexer: None
    2) Why shouldn’t I use the “Match Sequence Settings” in exporting? Because of the big output file size?
I used it and the results are very good as I expected:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_MatchSequenceSettings.mpeg
    Export Settings
    Match Sequence Settings [selected]
    1920 x 1080, 25 fps, Upper, Quality 50
    User Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    3) I tried also Dynamic Link in PremierePro (to Encore).
    The results are also poor.
    4) I will test also LagarithLoslessCodec and frameserving +DGMPGDec. But the video is vertical long drawn-ot.
I think I did not use it correctly.
    Regards

  • Encore CS5.1 and Video Menus

    Hello all!
Hoping somebody knowledgeable can give me a hand here!
So, the story is I am creating a video menu for a Blu-Ray project using Photoshop CS5.1 and Premiere Pro CS5.5.
I have created the buttons in Photoshop, and I have then 'disabled' the background layer so I just have the buttons. I have saved this as a PSD and inserted in Encore as a menu.
I made a video in Premiere Pro CS5.5 which I'd like to use as my menu background. It is 2 minutes 43 seconds long and was rendered in MP4 h.264 HDTV 1080p 24fps straight from Premiere Pro, since this is for a Blu-Ray disc. The video is 302MB in size. The video has audio so I have not specified a specific audio file for my video menu.
Now the problem is when I put all of this into Encore and click on the Preview in Encore, all I am seeing is the text/buttons from my PSD file, and not any video. I have pressed the little 'Render' button but it's not working. In a previous project (which I have now sadly deleted), I used a shorter and smaller (in file size) video and also a different PSD file and I got it to work - but I don't understand why it isn't working now.
I saw in some other threads people were saying that they have had problems with the menu being 'too big' when they checked it. I don't have this problem when I check it.
I've tried another video file and the same thing is happening - can only see the buttons/text, but no video. Maybe my PSD file is the problem?
Anybody got any idea as to why this isn't working? I'll post some screenshots below so you can see:
Menu buttons in Photoshop - all look OK?
What I see in the Preview window - I should see the video playing and the buttons, right? Not just the buttons? As you can see, I've linked it to the video which I want.
Here are my menu layers as displayed in Encore - does it look correct?
This is the 'Check Build' window - no errors found (deseleted button links because I have no video imported at the moment, only working on the menu at the moment).
Finally, my build settings. I'll be putting this on a 25GB Blu-Ray disc. I presume that 500MB or so is used for the menu?
Thank you to anybody who can help me out!

Hi there, thanks for your input!
I've not had a look at the highlights and stuff like that yet, I've just been trying to get this video to work as a menu background. I will get round to looking at highlights shortly.
I will turn the visibility on and get back to you tomorrow on that - hopefully it will work!
You can already see the Motion Tab in my second screenshot on the far left. I'll post a new screenshot tomorrow if it helps though.
    Thanks!

  • Resizing videos in timelines in Encore CS5

    Hello,
When I drag my video to a timeline in Encore CS5, black bars show up because the video is a different size than the project. Is there any way to resize the video in the timeline, or would I have to resize it in Premiere?
    Thanks!

Since I like to let Encore do "automatic" transcoding (to make a "best fit" of my video to single or dual layer DVD) I export to Widescreen DV AVI
Doing that export, I am not allowed to change the default Scale to Fit setting...the option is inactive... this is with PPro CS5.0.3
So, it appears that when going from AVCHD to AVI instead of MPEG2-DVD I will simply have to live with thin side bars

  • CS4 Encore – freezes when HD video asset is added

Encore CS4 locks up when I try to add a HD video asset(created in Premiere Pro CS4). I can add Standard Video and Encore does not freeze. I have only had Encore running.  ( the HD video is a short 25 second test HD video)

  • Encore CS5 main feature and scene selections from same Video?

    Hi all,
I have tried to search for a previous thread, in case there was one, but cannot see it. So, would really appreciate your help, please. I have contacted Adobe helpline when I first got the programme a few years ago, but always ended up speaking to people who did not know themselves. This took up a lot of time and still not resolved.
I usually author Blu-rays in Encore CS5 and cannot seem to grasp how to use the same video import to both, link to the 'Play Main Video' (so it plays the full video) and use the same timeline for scene selections.
When using the one video for both, I try to create the links to main video as Play all and in the scene selection menu, I link to the selected scenes. This results in the main video play stopping at, where the first scene selection starts and goes back to menu.
My 'workaround' to this has been to import the main video and import a cut down version of scenes edited in Pre Pro CS5. This takes up more file space and I am sure slows down the encoding/ converting to image file.
I would like to import the video once only. Use a link to play full video and use the scene selection menu to select the scenes.
I hope I have explained my dilemma clearly.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Using PC
    Intel i7 @ 4GHZ
    12GB Ram
    3X 1TB hard drives
    Nvidia GTX470 Graphics Card

It stops because you probably put end actions on each chapter.
There are two main methods for chapter play if you have created a single video for the whole movie (so it is on one timeline).
The method that puts end actions on the chapters requires you to use overrides, and is difficult for many users.
The easier method is using chapter playlists. Create a CHAPTER playlist, put one chapter in it, then link the chapter button to that chapter playlist. There will be one chapter playlist for each chapter. Each chapter itself has no end action set, and you set the end action for each chapter playlist to "last menu."
Since there are no end actions on chapters, when you play the timeline, it plays all the way through.

  • Encore web DVD "hidden video assets" ?

is it possibe to create a  encore web DVD with "hidden video assets" ? (like they used to using Director?)
so the end user would just insert the dvd rom, and lauch an html file but would not see the video assets ?

it would be to prevent copying of individual f4v files. it used to be common in director hiding quicktime files.
i guess the better way now would be to host the flash/videos on a protected webpage and sell timed access. (unfortunalty, that comes with a learning curve to put into effect.)
but the origianl thought was to offer the product as DVD or On Demand Streaming or Digital Download -  and if a user chooses Digital Download i have to have a delivery format
