Loop drops when connected wireless (NI 9191)

Hi,
I cannot figure out why a NI cDAQ 9191 chassis has connection drops when connected wireless and works
perfectly when connected thru LAN.
I wrote a little test VI to check the connection accuracy. The chassis has a NI 9375 I/O module plugged in.
A Moxa AWK3121 is used as wireles access point. What I do is check 5 digital inputs and control 3 digital outputs.
The outputs are continuously placed on/off at a different rate. I use an event loop and a main loopt that communicates
to the chassis at a loop rate of 10ms.
The chassis, laptop and Moxa A.P. are all close together on my desk. The Wifi signal is excellent.
Now, the code i written is probably not optimal.
But...  If I start with connecting the chassis with a LAN cable to my laptop, Wifi Disabled, Linked Local. The communication is perfect.
No drops between the loops and the real time.
No communication errors. Runtime was 52 minutes.
Second test. Connected the chassis to the Moxa A.P. with LAN cable. Laptop connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
Chassis still in Link Local. Ik can access the chassis in MAX. No problem.
When I run my test, I immediately see loop pauzes. After one minute there can be already a difference of 20 sec.
between calculated looptime and real time. Sometimes the active light on the chassis goes off and on.
When the active light is out, the loop is on hold. (Wich is normal as I assume the DAQ VI's are waiting for response.)
After appr.10 minutes the error -50405 "No Transfer in progress because transfer was aborted by client".
If I look at the timings there is already a difference of more then 5 minutes between the loop timing and the real time.
As last I tested with the chassis and the PC connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
I did not get the -50405 error, but again loop drops. After 10 minutes there was a shift of 2 minutes.
Has anyone experience with wireless connections with the NI 9191 chassis?
Can I change my code? Did I mis something? (I'm a newbie to Labview)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Frankie.

I am not clear on whether you are connecting the two together "in it's own little network" (which implies "router" and not "AP") or if you are connecting to the LAN through the wireless device (in which case it is entirely appropriate to refer to the wireelss device as an "AP").  Your last post about hot spots is what confused me.
But as you said, the biggest worry is the active light.  Try using a different router/AP.  I've seen routers overheat and reset themselves before due to inadequate heat sinking.  i.e., Someone (not me, I swear!) dropped the AP and knocked the heat sink off the chip.
As for the delay, if you are indeed using the Moxa as an AP, are you sure you're connecting to your AP?  If you're connected to a hotspot instead, your throughput will be at least halved - and maybe even 1/4 bandwidth if your AP happens to have connected to a different hotspot than you did.  If you are using it as a router, try differnt bands or channels to see if you can get around any interference your company wireless network might be generating.
In general, conclude that wireless isn't the best way to connect test devices together.

  • WRT54G router locks up when connecting wirelessly to a Samsung Blue Player

My WRT54G  router locks up 100% of the time when attempting to connect connect wirelessly to a Samsung Blue Player (Model number BD-P3600). I can connect to it with a cable no problem, but when I attempt to do so wirelessly and type in the password on the Blue Ray player, it attempts to connect but the router locks up and all devices connected to it (wired or wirless) lose connectivity. Any ideas?

    Try the following steps:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
    # Then Click on wireless Tab select Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, and 11. Click Save Settings.
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 50
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
    Then check the connectivity status..

  • Officejet Pro L7780 locks up when connected wirelessly

I'm trying to set up my iPad to print to an Officejet Pro L7780. Prior to beginning this effort, we were able to print to this computer through an ethernet connection no problems.
However the printer won't function once it connects wirelessly - locks up entirely. Can't get iPad, PC w/Vista, or a PC with XP to recognize the printer on the wi-fi network. And, printer button functionality is gone, including the power button. Any suggestions?

  • BEFW11S4 v4: When connect wirelessly internet drops.

Ok basicially the laptop is connected via wire to my computer which uses XP.
Everytime I try to conenct my laptop wireless using windows 7 the internet drops after about 5 seconds when it connects on both devices. Same thing just happened when tried to connect it with Wi.
Last time I tried this was a during Christmas holidays and I had no problems with it whatsoever, worked like a charm and had multiple connections but know its being stubborn.
In addition my dad told me that everytime he connected his laptop on it it gave him trojans.....I doubt this myself but said just incase.
    Any ideas?

Login to the Router setup page and below change the Wireless settings of your Router.....
Change the Wireless Channel to 11-2.462GHz...and let the Wireless SSID Broadcast should be Enable and click on Save Settings...
Once you are done with the settings then you can try to connect to your wireless network... Once you are done with this settings, then try to connect to your wireless network...
If still the same problem then you can try to upgrade the firmware of your Router.

  • My NAS to Timemachine drops when in wireless mode

    Hi all,
Been searching for solution but coudn't find any. Hope someone here can help?!
I have a NAS (WD My World Book - White light edition) which recently upgraded to the latest firmware to work with Time machine appletalk 2.2.
All good when I am connected to my LAN, Lion picks up the NAS and able to backup. When I unplug the LAN cable and go wireless, Lion drops the NAS (no connection to Timemachine).
So I decided to plug the LAN cable back in, but unfortunately, Lion didnt seem to pick up the NAS again :-(.
The only way to solve it is to reboot my MBP while connecting to LAN.
Is this normal or a bug or something screwy with my MBP?

I killed the mDNSResponder in Activity Monitor, plugged the cable back in, and now it can see my NAS.. weird.
But wireless is still a no go

  • AE drops when connected to existing network, works great on its own

When I have my AE connected to an existing wireless network, it keeps dropping out. But when I have it on it's own network, it NEVER drops out.
Does the AE rely on the existing wireless router signal strength when it is connected to an existing network?
    thanks

    Any thoughts?

  • Slower internet connection when connection wireless network

Currently using a Linksys WRT54GL wireless broadband (firmware v4.30.5) router in conjunction with a Thomson Speedtouch 546i ADSL router (ISP provided).
My problem is that when I connect to the internet over the wireless network I experience a much slower internet connection in comparison with when I use a tp-cable.
Tested with various online "speed-tests" (I know they are not to be trusted, but they do give a basis for comparison):
    Over wireless network : ca.6000kbits/sec.
Direct cable from pc to router (tested on both routers):12-13000kbits/sec.
Hope anyone has any idea what the problem may be, and any help is greatly appreciated.

Change the beacon to 50 ....and reduce the RTS and the fragmentation by 40 each.....these options are found under the advanced wireless settings...
Also make sure that u have the latest drivers installed for the Wireless NIC.

  • Safari doesn't accept password when connected wireless

    Hello,
I have just installed a new N wireless router and I have a strange behavior with Safari Version 5.0.3 (6533.19.4) on Mac OS X 10.6.6.
When I try to connect through the wireless connection to the router, Safari asks for the password and the displays the following message:
"The user name or password you entered for this area on 192.168.0.1:80 was incorrect. Make sure you’re entering them correctly, and then try again."
The strange thing is that if I connect with firefox or Opera, also through the wireless connection, it succeeds.
Even more, if I turn the wireless off and I connect through the Ethernet with Safari (Firefox and Opera as well), it works!
All this makes me think it is a problem in Safare or my MacBook Air.
    Does anybody have any idea?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi and welcome sursan ....
Open Airport Utility (Applications / Utilties)
Select Manual Setup. Select Airport in the menu at the top then select the Wireless tab. You should see your Wireless Network Name there.
Type in your WI FI password, Verify Password then *select the box* where you see:
Remember this password in my keychain.

  • Time Machine- New Back up when connected wirelessly

I recently had my macbook worked on at the genius bar which fixed some software problem. The problem is that now when I try to back up my notebook through Time Machine to an external hard drive connected to an Airport Extreme, Time Machine starts backing up my entire hard drive not just updating the existing backup.
This doesn't happen when I connect my macbook to the external hard drive with the usb cable.
How do I fix it so that it only updates the existing back up files, instead of starting from the beginning??

    cb2325 wrote:
Ok, but how come they used to merge? I initially backed up my macbook using the firewire port and then set TM to back up wirelessly and it worked.
There is an elaborate workaround to start a backup wirelessly, interrupt it and connect directly, get it to complete that way, then revert to wireless for subsequent backups, but otherwise a whole new "sequence" will be started.

I think there is a profile saved on your wireless computer.
What is the operating system on your computer ?
Delete the profile on your wireless computer. I think you are using the intel wireless adapter on that computer.
Open the Intel wireless adapter utility. There you will find the profiles saved on your computer. Delete the wireless network profile that you are trying to connect.
Now open the setup page of the wireles router. Go to the wireless tab. Check the wireless network name. Click on wireless security tab and check the wireless security settings. Make sure that you have the correct network key/password.
Now try to connect to the wireless network again.
If it is windows XP operating system then you can also connect to the wireless network using the windows wireless network utility.

  • IChat AV not working when connecting wirelessly thru Netgear router

Ok, I have read nearly EVERY forum out there about this issue, and I have tried nearly everything. I even called Apple. Noone can seem to figure out what the deal is.
I have a Netgear WGR614 v5, and it is connected to a modem that I got from RoadRunner (Time Warner Cable).
My cousin, who has a Mac identical to mine, is set up in the same fashion with a Netgear router.
Neither of us can get a video connection using iChat. When we click the Accept button, it says "Connecting to ...." and then we both get an error that basically says there was a "communication error".
I was informed of an Apple test address that I could test it with. AIM username is appleu3test03. I added it to my iChat buddy list, and clicked on the camera icon, and voila! It connected and I get an iPhone video (which is what is supposed to happen)
So, what EXACTLY is that supposed to tell me???? The Apple test site says that means there is no problem with my connection, but that the issue is on my end somewhere....but I don't understand how that can be.
Anyway, I don't have ANY firewalls on, and it works when I am connected directly with an Ethernet cable.
    PLEASE!!! HELP!!
    Thanks
    Cynthia

    Hi arvideo,
OK IS the UPnP on in this device ?
And no Port Forwarding or Services set ?
IS it the only device connected to the internet ? (is there another router or a modem ?)

  • WIPS needed when connecting wireless networks to Firewall ?

    Hi all,
We 're considering to implement a wireless network.
One of the security options is using wIPS.
This will cost of course because it needs a mobile security engine and licences for the APs (and WCS).
Another option I see to avoid this cost is by connecting the wireless network to the external firewall. See attachment.
Then a wireless session wil continue to Internet or towards the corporate network.
This firewall will also have an IDS/IPS module.
Is this a viable and effective alternative or am I totally bezirk?
Is wIPS better because of wireless specific issues/challenges?
    Thanx for any help.
    Greetz Jaap

They're unrelated. The Wips features done by the MSE appliance have nothing to do with what a firewall does. The MSE will check all the information on all the APs to find out possibilities of wireless attacks. For example, authentication floods, denial of service, AP impersonation, ... There are hundreds of different signatures.
Wireless management frames never reach the firewall, only useful data payload does. A firewall will never see if a client is spoofing an AP mac address, if a client is sending "disassociation" frames to all the other clients and so on.

  • Connection with Extreme drops when connecting PocketPC to the USB

    Good evening,
I just discovered that everytime I connect my Pocket PC to the USB I lose the connection with the Airport Extreme. Now I cannot use the Pocket PC and the Airport at the same time
Anyone know how can I fix this?
My base station is in Bridge mode and DHCP.
    Thank you in advance.
    Cheers,
    Nuno Sanches e Silva

I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic card and the Digital I/O Module connected via the Flexi-Jack connection on the back of the soundcard.
Using the SPDIF Input connections on the Digital I/O Module, the only sound sources I'm able to hear are 2-channel PCM. Any multi-channel audio such as Dolby Digital or DTS is silent.
The SPDIF Input settings drop down is disabled in the Audio Console so I am unable to select SPDIF Dolby/DTS Decoding.
One would expect that since the Digital I/O module can accept optical and coaxial digital connections, and since the X-Fi series of cards can decode DTS/Dolby audio, this would be a non-issue.
I had to wait months to get the Digital I/O Module due to backorders and I'm very frustrated with this issue. I bought the module specifically for this purpose and nowhere on Creative's site or help files does it specify that the Digital I/O module CAN'T be used for DTS/Dolby decoding.
It also took 4 or 5 rounds of back and forth emails with Creative's tech support before they would admit that multi-channel streams cannot be decoded with the Digital I/O module.
It's almost like they have limited knowledge of their own products. Is this a design oversight, or are they trying to squeeze more money out of their customers by having them buy a dri've bay or external console that has the EXACT same connections (SPDIF I/O) as the Digital I/O module? Why bother selling the Digital I/O module in the first place if it can't be used for what one would expect? If all I wanted was 2-channel input, I'd use the line-in jack.
I find this very misleading and a bad business practice on Creative's part.
If anyone reading this has experienced this issue and feels they too have been mislead, PM me and maybe we can put our heads together about seeking a resolution.

  • Valet M10 drops internet connection and reboots intermittengly

I have the Valet M10 wireless router.  In the last few days I have noticed that I keep loosing my internet connection.  There appears no issue with my Time warner ISP modem.  But I did notice that when my internet connection was lost that all the lights were out on my router.  Then after a short while it appeared the router was rebooting itself as all the lights started to blink and after a minute or so my internet connection was back.   Unfortunatel this process continues several times a day and sometimes a few times withint an hour or two.  Has anyone run into this type of situation and any ideas on how to rectify.
    I have M10 version 1--   firmware 2.0.03 build 4   software 1.4.11260.0

Hi Carl43m. If the internet connection continues to drop when connected directly to the modem, that will be your queue to contact your ISP. However, I agree with FurryNutz that if it is only your wireless connection that has been affected, we can say that this might be due to wireless interference.
You can adjust the wireless channel on the M10’s web- based setup page. In case you are using the Cisco Connect software, you may try to:
Go to Valet settings > Advanced Settings
Take note of the username and password.
Click OK and wait for the setup page to stop loading.
    Click Wireless and select Manual.
Change the channel to 1, 6 or 11 and save the changes.
To manually access the setup page, log on to http://192.168.1.1and enter the router’s administrative password and username. The default password is admin and leave the username blank or use the one that you set when you initially set the router up. Then, move on to steps 4 and 5.
