Loop recording

When I do a loop recording in a software track (drums) only the new recorded notes are played and displayed.So when I add notes they replace the original notes.According to the manuals and help files you should be able to just add notes to an excisting recording.Does anyone know how it can be that the original notes dissapear every time I add a few notes?Thanks for any advise.

As Scott said, once you put it in record mode it will add notes on subsequent looped passes. Do not stop recording until you have added all you want in that section. Once you press Play or Stop, it will no longer add notes, but will record over any notes pre-existing in the location. A workaround would be to create an additional track using the same instrument. You can merge the contents of the two (or more) tracks by selecting the regions and choosing "Join" from the "Edit" menu. Note that it will combine them into the bottom track of the ones you have selected.

FEATURE REQUEST - looping record of selected region (ADR)

I need Audition to have a better, more professional workflow for ADR and Foley. It can either be a looping "record" with preroll and postroll or a pop-up tool that accepts regions, in to out timecode, or markers to control what section of the video track it shows during recording. It would also be nice if the preroll had the standard 3 1k beeps plus a silent "4th beep" at picture start. Anyone else have other workflows or additional thoughts?

I "second"' this request. I've been struggling to find a way to ADR some dialog for spots. You'd think no-one ever heard of this professional feature set. johnm has outlined the feature request nicely. Is there a plug-in available for this?

Loop recording and warning tones ?

and have a few questions for things I can't find in the software. I would like to be able to loop record
as I stream ? This will help me if I have a crash in my truck to have it on file. The 2nd thing I would
like it a way to have a audible alarm when it is trying to get connection, this would let me know
I have lost my 3G connection as while driving my truck I cant watch the screen all the time..

This feature has been sort of removed in Logic 8, now it will record takes compiling all your passes into a folder which you can then unpack to new tracks. You can also record in "replace" mode which will stack all regions onto one track and mute them. After that you use the command track->new for overlapping regions and the stacked regions will be placed on one track each.

Looping recorded data (project specific)

Hi everyone,
I've recently got logic studio and absolutely loving it - it's great.
I've got this project that I started quite recently and whenever I record in it (be it audio or MIDI) as soon as you hit the space bar to stop recording your region gets infinitely looped to the end marker (as it would if you dragged the top right corner). There is nothing destructive about this it's just a pain and it's not what I got the software to do! The weirdest thing about it is that it only does it in this project, and closing and reopening doesn't work. Anyone know of something project specific like a setting that I could have changed which would cause this, it's extremely irritating!

Sounds strange. Could you maybe upload the session and link to it so that I or someone else could have a look and see if there's something you're doing wrong?
It's hard to say what you should look at. It could also be simply a corrupted session...

Possible To Loop Record in GB3?

E.G., PLAY "REAL" GUITAR, then while it loops it places the recent take at the top, last take at the bottom, as it is now, it's a little frustrating to record then have it become diabled (recording) when it goes back to the begining.

Looping Record Creation Form

Hope Someone can help me.
I'm created a form page for the creation of a record, I need to change it so when you click on create you are presented with the blank page so you can create another record on the database. I've been been struggling to be able to make this happen. Any ideas or suggesions will be most appreciated.

Your branch that fires on create should go to the current page and you just need to do a clear page / cache on that page so that it comes up blank after create.

Playing recorded loops (they stay greyed out)

When recording on a loop , it creates multiple recordings, and places it on a new track. I love this functionality! However only the last loop recorded lets me play it / hear it. How do I enable the other tracks so that i can hear them (ungrey them out / enable them). Much thanks in advance for any help!

Recording from previous start position

This might be so basic, but is there a key command for recording from previous recording start? I often find myself in a situation where I record something with my keyboard and wanting to do another take from the same song position I started the previous recording. And loop recording is really not an option here because I like to record longer takes and sometimes I'm just simply not happy with my groove and would just like to start quickly all over again... Thanks!

When you have recorded a take and are not happy with it, pressing the record key again (before stopping your recording) will instantly nuke that take and start recording again from the start point.
Also check out the "Record Repeat" key command.

Trigger loop in MS

I apologize if this seems like a duplicate question, but I've read many postings on this topic and nobody seems to have this exact scenario.
During live performance using MainStage, I need to trigger a short audio file (a few seconds long) as an endless loop. I want to hit a key on my keyboard controller, and have the loop start. I want to leave it "running" (looping) forever until I decide to hit a key to stop it. The entire file is the loop, so there's no need to set start and end points, or crossfade, etc. I have no need for adjusting tempo or doing anything sophisticated.
I've tried the AUAudioFilePlayer in a channel strip but that can't be triggered from the controller. I've tried EXS24 but I can't get the file to loop properly. I'd even be OK hitting a key on my laptop to start/stop the loop if necessary. Any suggestions? Thanks!

OK, I re-read your post a few times because I wasn't sure what you meant I couldn't figure out from your second post what you meant by a "One Shoot Loop" because those are a little contradictory..a sample either loops or is one shot. However, from reading your first post again, I see what you mean, you want to be able trigger the sample once and have it loop continuously. AIAK, that's not directly possible using what we've mentioned so far. (Note: from my post history it should be evident that I'm new to Mainstage and not an expert)
Two possibilities:
1) Not likely but if the length of the looping is static (same every time you play the song). Then you might be able to use Logic to create a long sample which is your loop played many many times and just use the EXS24 to trigger that long sample. One variation on that to make a sample longer than you will ever play and then trigger it from the EXS24 and have another button to stop the loop
2) Probably more flexible is to look at "SooperLooper" (http://www.essej.net/sooperlooper/) Set up a controller for record/play/etc... have your channel strip feed a Bus that has SooperLooper on it. Set your sample as a One Shot. Trigger it from Mainstage, trigger SooperLooper to record your one shot loop sample and loop it back. You may need to do some clever stuff to get the time right, such as making your sample twice as long with two repetitions of your 'loop' in order to give you time to start the same and then start the loop record, or having SooperLooper set up to listen to record on them same MIDI event that triggers your sample so your sample starts at the same time as your loop record starts

Timed Loop in Producer/Consumer Loop

Hello!
I have a producer/consumer loop LabVIEW program setup to allow me to properly capture images that are quite large (8MP) at approximately 14 frames per second (FPS). The program works great when the consumer loop is a 'while loop' (records at 14fps no problem), but I wanted to make it into a timed loop, so that I may vary the FPS as required. An oddity arises when I do this. Anywhere below 12fps, the loop works fine and the data is recorded properly. However, when I bump it up to 13fps, the consumer calculated FPS goes haywire and starts jumping between ~9 and ~13fps (data processing gets bogged?). When I set the required FPS to 14, the loop executes at a steady 7FPS maximum. Is there something I can do to rectify this situation?

Are you using LabVIEW Real-Time? Timed loops in a windows OS don't really increase determinism more than a while loop with a wait until next multiple timer. Before you changed the producer consumer loop to include a while loop was the programming running correctly? You may also want to vuse the VI analyizer to see how long things are taking to run. I would leave the producer consumer loop in the traditional set up and change the FPS by controlling the wait timer, after benchmarking your code this should be done the same way as you have it for the timed loop

How to go on creating activities in loop?

Lead record type has activities associated with it.
if a new lead is created, automatically an initial activity should be created with certain details and assigned to a particular sales rep. this i can do with workflow. this is fine.
Now i want that, when ever the sales rep completes the activity and marks status of activity as _"Completed"_, automatically a new activity record should be created and details of newly created activity should be filled by the sales rep who marked the old activity status as "Completed". This cycle should go on.
Also there has to be a stopper to this loop to which only a manager can have access.
i tried with workflow. For that i created a custom picklist on activity record type with values as "Continue" and "Stop". I set the default value as "Continue". Only manger has access to this picklist. My logic was unless the manager sets the value of the picklist as "Stop", the activity should be created in loop. I did in this way:
Workflow Name: Activity Loop
record Type: Activity
Trigger Event: When modified record saved
Workflow rule condition: LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_0", "Continue") AND LookupValue("EVENT_STATUS", "Completed")
But when i saw the available Workflow actions, there was no mention of creating a new activity in it. so now how should i create new activity when old activity is completed? i am struck up here. How can continue from this point?
I don't mind going for any other way if it satisfies my requirement.

I'm afraid this won't be possible with workflows... Oracle made it not possible to create an activity via a workflow on the activity entity.
Imagine that someone create something like "when a new activity is created, then create an activity", you'll agree that this will shut down the server !! I think that's why they don't allow this action on this kind of workflow.
I'll suggest to have a checkbox on your lead record which will be something like "Next activity" and when the sales rep checks it, it will create the next activity and uncheck the box.
Otherwise, try to fin out if this kind of functionnality will be possible in the next release (R16)...

HOW DO I SET MY AUDIO RECORDING PROGRAM

I AM USING BEHRINGERS UF0202 TO TRANSFER MY CASSETTES TO ITUNES. IT SAYS TO SET MY AUDIO RECORDING PROGRAM TO RECORD FROM THE USB PORT. HOW DO I DO THIS?

Are you are using an audio interface?
Are you recording external instruments... you will need to explain what kind of audio, virtual instruments, loops, recorded audio through an interface?
If you're recording through an audio interface (or the computer's audio input) Logic's plugins cannot stop peaks as Software is -after- the the hardware input. If you're getting peaks recording through hardware you will need to bring down input levels.

First bar of bass not recording

Ok so yet another GB10 issue - the first bar of my Midi bass doesn't record. Seems to show up in gb10 after I record it but only the last 3/4 bars play-back and the first note/bar simply does not play.
Secondly.....I can't seem to loop-record (multiple-takes). I have repeat set up for 4 bars, and when it loops back to bar 1 during record mode, it PLAYS back the initial recording and causes me to record OVER that and create's DOUBLE the bass. Seriously...I really hate GB10...it's just awful so far.
Curious if others are having this problem.

Is the first bar part of the count in?
Are the notes of the first bar in a register, that the selected bass patch can play? Which bass are you using and which register are you playing, C0 to c1 or higher?

Regardning LOOP in a tablefield

I am writing a forms program in SQL*Forms 6.0. My problem is that I want to loop record by record in a table in my form. Regarding to business logic different kind of logic will be executed for a certain row. In what way can I do that?
Is there a forms variable that holds the number of records listed in my table or do I have to store that information when I select the information from the Oracle database.

You can move into the table with the Next_record and Previous_record built ins.
You can go to the first record with the First_Record built-in and test if you have reached the last available record with the :system.last_record variable that can return 'TRUE' or 'FALSE'

Delay in fetching records

Consider a program having two cursors loops one opens in second and first fetches one record and second loop will fetch more record based on first loop record.
This type of program working fine with few rows of records
but when rows becomes more than 300 then it is taking lot of time almost 15 minutes to complete.
What type of tuning is required generally here..?
like query to be changed or any storage parameters to be tuned or proper indexes to be created ?

Cursor loops are very slow compared to SQL. If performance is an issue you should rewrite the process as a single select statement. What you describe is a simple join.
