Looping a Keynote presentation
It looks like this has been thoroughly discussed and there is no looping capability in Apple TV. I want to display announcements repeatedly. We are now going to hardwire (I am the principal of a school and we have 42" LCD screens mounted 15' and 30' on the wall in our lobby) DVI-to-HDMI from a dedicated iMac and see how that works now. Anyone hear of a pending update that would allow looping? Seems pretty shortsighted not to have it yet?
I face the same problems. Apple TV without looping capabilities is actually quite useless outside private homes. There is a huge marked for product like ATV in presentations, information and promotion. I run a small cultural institution wich includes a cinema, a music venue etc etc and have been really looking forward to ATV as a flexible, affordable and practical solution to all my needs. But without looping ATV is useless. Even though ATV was designed for individual consumers it could have had a rather big professional marked. The ATV has so many good and attractive qualities but the product as a whole is useless because of this very little but important mistake. Anybody who has had the pleasure of working with multimedia-based promotion would absolutly love the idea of being able to rent displays on site and bring 10 small ATVs and a small amount of standard cables to a business presentation instead of bringing 10 laptops, 10 projectors, a huge amount of different cables etc and know that all that equipment will make your promotion look messy no matter what. ATV is actually the most affordable solution to presentations where you would want HD-resolution (no DVDs), maximum control over colours, aspect ratio etc and minimum efforts in setting up displays etc (no projectors and screens that needs manually adjustment). A presentation that would demand to days of hard work for two people could actually be put up in two hours by one individual. It takes a minimum of time to attach and adjust the ATV compared to any other screening-solution. So the ATV could have brought a small revolution to this kind of business and promotion if only it had looping-capabilites.
The workaround that is mentioned is a workaround, but it should be unnecessary when it is just a matter of a few line of code to implement this functionality for video as well as audio.

I have a 2012 MacBook Air.
What I would like to be able to do is plug into an external display and project a looping Keynote presentation on the external display. The problem is when I play the Keynote presentation, my laptop screen goes black. Is it possible to play/loop a Keynote presentation on an external display while working in a different program (Pages, Numbers, etc) on my laptop screen?

I have prepared a Keynote presentation which I would like to loop on my Apple TV. I was unable to set this up with the Apple TV 2 since it just streams, but with my original Apple TV, I can save the movie on the built in hard drive and presumably set it up to loop. I had to export the Keynote presentation to iMovie to rotate the video to match the display I am using, but have tried several options to force a loop as a Quicktime movie and again importing the movie into Keynote after I rotated in iMovie and still will not loop. I am trying to use this as a digital display in my business. Any suggestions are welcome as previous posts and discussions have not worked.

I'm not really sure whether looping videos still work on the Apple TV, they have done and then they haven't and then they have and I don't really know what the current position is.
You can add looping to a video in any application that supports it, QT Pro for example.
How can you add looping to a video in an application that supports it such as QT Pro? The only documentation that I've read states what I previously wrote, and that doesn't seem to work. -
Keynote Presentation in continious Loop
I have a keynote presentation with video clips, charts, etc. I want to put it in in a self-playing mode so that visitors at our booth can see it. However, when I do it it does not show full video clips. What transitions, builds setting I need. Videos run varying amount of time. I would greatly appreciate any help.
You can either go through and set the timing for each of you builds, actions and transitions or you can set them all to happen on click and then Record the slideshow and set the timing yourself.

How can I embed a Keynote presentation on a web page?
I created a Keynote presentation using Keynote version 6.5 (OS X Yosemite). I found the "export as html" option, which creates an entire web page named index.html. I opened that web page in Dreamweaver, but I'm not talented enough to figure out how to turn that page into a proper index.html page, including the graphics, background, and links (etc.) that I want on my sites home page.
I have also tried to embed the presentation onto a web page that I've already created, but I can't figure out how to do that, either.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to embed a custom-sized Keynote presentation onto a web page and, if so, how?
OR can you tell me how to edit the page that Keynote created when I open it up in Dreamweaver?
I think the former would be easier, given what I've seen when I try to do the latter.
I have been using Dreamweaver for many years - since before Adobe bought it - and the site I'm currently updating is already in Dreamweaver. That's why I'm asking about Dreamweaver (if you were curious).
Of course, I've probably not provided all the information you would need to help me, so please ask questions. I won't be offended if they point out my ignorance!
Thank you for any help you might provide. The only workaround I found was to use the desktop version of Keynote, which allowed me to export the presentation as a set of images to iPhoto. From there, they show up as an album and can be brought back to the iPad, and then played as a looping slide show in the pictures app. It worked perfectly.

How to get keynote presentation to play all day on apple tv via iPad
Hello,
I currently have an iPad (1st Gen iPad Mini) at my shop that I would like to use for playing a keynote presentation in my lobby throughout the day. My presentation plays on a loop about 5 or 6 times then keynote shuts down. Any ideas on what I should do?
Thank you for all your help and ideas in advance!
TaylorNo there is no way to Mirror full screen from an iOS device to the Apple TV. iOS devices are not 16:9 like your HDTV so the mirrored image appears as the size your iOS device would be if it were the size of your TV. Hope that makes sense.

How do i change the amount of time for slides in a keynote presentation so they are not the same
how do i vary the times for the slides in a keynote presentation, i have 3 videos i need to run longer and the slides I want to run the same
Is this for an unattended presentation?
1. If not, the option would seem to be:
Manually advance the slides containing the videos or
set the transition delay time to the next slide to occur after the video completes using the
Slide > Transition Inspector > Delay (max delay is 600 seconds so if video is longer than 10 minutes, an automatic delay wouldn't work)
2. If you plan this to be unattended your best bet is to compile it in iMovie and have a looping video with all parts timed in the video to your liking. -
How to investigate Keynote presentation crashes
I have a looping, continuously running keynote presentation playing on a Mac Mini.
With some regularity (although most certainly not every time) Keynote crashes with the error "The application quit unexpectedly..."
Can someone offer guidance how I can troubleshoot this? I thought about launching Console (knowing nothing about it), but that would generate a giant log file since these crashes may occur only once every two days.
Thanks for your help. Here's the error report generated by Keynote. It's all Greek to me...

Moving Keynote Presentation to a Video Podcast
I have a Keynote presentation that I would like to record with narration, manually advance slides in sync with the narration, then move the combined narrated Keynote to a video podcast where viewer can see the slides and hear the narration.
Have tried moving it to GarageBand but it seems to throw up on the audio, won't take it in either the 'copy audio' or 'mix audio' options.
iMovie seems a logical choice but text on the slides (which look great in Keynote) all look out of focus in iMovie, either the new one or iMovieHD. Some fonts help this situation but none look anywhere as clear as the original Keynote. Went to One on Ones and no help there.
This does not seem like an off the wall application of Keynote to me but a logical extension for 'distance learning'. Has anyone done this successfully with text /photo slides with narration? how about slides with video clips as well?We use Dropbox to do this effortlessly to mobile devices. It is free for users requiring less than 2GB of data:

I want to connect my iMac [Mavericks OS] to my TV so that I can show a Keynote presentation on the TV. I have a local wireless network. My TV is Internet accessible.
If you do not have this option, then I would suspect your Mac does not support audio over HDMI.

I would appreciate it if someone could advise me as to the optimum resolution, dimensions and dpi for actual photographic slides that I am scanning for use in a Keynote Presentation, that will be projected in a large auditorium. I realize that most projectors in auditoriums that I will be using have 1024 x 1200 pixels, and possibly 1600 x 1200. There is no reference to this issue in the Keynote Tutorial supplied by Apple, and I have never found a definitive answer to this issue online (although there may be one).
Here’s my question: When scanning my photographic slides, what setting, from 72 dpi to 300 dpi, would result in the best image quality and use up the most efficient amount of space?
Here’s what two different photo slide scanning service suppliers have told me:
Supplier No. 1 tells me that they can scan slides to a size of 1544 x 1024 pixels, at 72 dpi, which will be 763 KB, and they refer to this as low resolution (a JPEG). However, I noticed when I looked at these scanned slides, the size of the slides varied, with a maximum of 1.8 MB. This supplier says that the dpi doesn’t matter when it comes to the quality of the final digital image, that it is the dimensions that matter. They say that if they scanned a slide to a higher resolution (2048 x 3072), they would still scan it at 72 dpi.
Supplier No. 2: They tell me that in order to have a high quality image made from a photographic slide (starting with a 35 mm slide, in all cases), I need to have a “1280 pixel dimension slide, a JPEG, at 300 dpi, that is 8 MB per image.” However, this supplier also offers, on its list of services, a “Standard Resolution JPEG (4MB file/image – 3088 x 2048), as well as a “High Resolution JPEG (8 MB file/image – 3088x2048).
I will be presenting my Keynotes with my MacBook Pro, and will not have a chance to try out the presentations in advance, since the lecture location is far from my home, so that is not an option.
I do not want to use up more memory than necessary on my laptop. I also want to have the best quality image.
One more question: When scanning images myself, on my own scanner, for my Keynote presentations, would I be better off scanning them as JPEGs or TIFFs? I have been told that a TIFF is better because it is less compressed.
Any enlightenment on this subject would be appreciated.
Thank you. When it comes to Keynote, I try and start with a presentation that's 1680 x 1050 preset or something in that range. Most projectors that you'll get at a conference won't project much higher than that and if they run at a lower resolution, it's better to have the device downsize your Keynote. Anything is better than having the projector try and upsize your presentation... you work hard to make it look good, and it's mangled by some tired Epson projector.
As far as slides go, scan them in at 150 dpi or better, and make them at least the dimensions of your presentation. Keynote is really only wanting 72dpi, but I do them at 150, just in case I need to print out the presentation as a handout later, and having the pix at 150 dpi gives me a little help with their quality on a printer.
You'd probably have to drop in the 150 versions again if you output the Keynote to .pdf or Word or something, but at least you have the option.
And Gary's right (above) go ahead and scan them as TIFFs. Sooner or later you'll want to do something else with these slides (like make something for an iPad or the like) and having them as TIFFs keeps your presentation looking good.
Finally, and this is a big one, get to the location for your presentation ahead of time if you can, and plug the laptop in and see what you get. There's always connection problems. Don't let the AV bonehead tell you everything will work just fine ('... I don't have any adapters for a Mac...') . See it for yourself... you're the one that's standing up there. Unless it's your boss, then you better be really sure it works. -
How can I get back to my Keynote presentation once I've linked to a website?
I've created a Keynote presentation. On one slide, I have a link to a relevant Vimeo video on the web. It gets there seamlesly. However, when the 4 minute video is done playing, I can't return to my presentation. If I "x" out of Safari, my Keynote is gone. I've tried hitting esc but that doesn't work either.
Thanks for your help.Use application switcher to display Keynote ; (command tab) press the command key then tap the tab key then release.

It would seem (to me) this should not be an issue, but I have an iMac and MacBook Air with the identical version of OS (10.7.4) and Keynote ('09 5.1.1). Yet, the fonts don't match. Fonts I would regularly use when developing the presentation on the iMac do not transfer (create "Review" errors) to the Air. How can I fix it so that all the fonts on iMac show on Air?
If I am understanding your question correctly what you are wanting to achieve is not possible. You can't run the same keynote presentation on both devices at the same time. Also, why would you want to use the small screen size of the iPhone as your display instead of the iPad? If it is just to see your presenter notes then print them out and use the iPhone as your remote.
Perhaps more info is needed so i fully understand your issue. -
How can I launch an external app from a keynote presentation?
I'm trying to launch a Prezi presentation ("Prezi.app") from a keynote presentation, but don't know how to do it.
Links in keynote can only refer to websites or slides within the presentation, but not to start another App, like in - I hate to say it - Powerpoint.
Any ideas?
Thanks
JuergenKeynote is specifically prevented from opening applications.
In Keynote 09 (the previous version), hyperlinks can:
Jump to a slide in the same presentation
Open a webpage in the computer’s default web browser
Open another Keynote document
Open an email message
Exit the slideshow
in Keynote 6 (the latest version) hyperlinks can:
Jump to a Slide in the same presentation
Web page
Mail opens a pre-addressed email message
Exit the presentation
