Loops in both Logic and Garageband

If I add new loops to either Garageband or Logic 8, will they show up in the loop browser of the other app? (Trying to avoid duplicate folders).

Hi,
I have the Jam Packs, but use them with Logic Pro 8. I don't expect to see the Jam Packs in Ultrabeat, but use them in EXS (for you EXSP I think) and use the Ultrabeat as another separate option.
Maybe I'm not correct, but I thought you access the sounds that way in Logic Express. I can even access setting I made up in Garageband too.
with best regards,
Karn.

  • New to logic and garageband, having trouble transferring files

I recently bought a macbook so I'm just kinda figuring out garageband and logic express 7. I was trying to transfer some garageband files over to logic and I kept getting a message saying "damaged song or not a logic express song" Does anyone know why this may be happening and how to fix the problem?

Check your version numbers - there are some 'gotchas' depending on the versions you're using.
For example, LE 7.2.3 at a minimum is necessary to run on a new MacBook. However, if you have a latest version of GB (and you probably do, as it's included on new Macs), then IIRC, Logic 7.2.3 won't open GB 4.+ files - you'll need to upgrade to LE 8. There are some other incompatibilities too - if you could post your version numbers, you'll get some more specific help.

  • Configuring both logical and physical standby databases.

    Hi,
I am trying to set up one primary and two standby databases which are physical and logical. together. What I am wondering is if i tis posiible to set both log_archive_dest_n parameters in init.ora of primary db to 'LGWR ASYNC'.. I tried to do that but I noticed that while redo data goes the first remote log destination including LGWR statement properly but for the second it does not.
So my assumption is only one remote archive dest. can be set for the LGWR process. Is ıt right?

    Hi,
when I set remote archive dest _n parameter for logical  standby database to the value like 'LGWR AYSNC' and for the phy. standby to 'ARCH', it is ok. But if I change both parameters to 'LGWR'. I can see that only one destination receives the redo data and this destination is also the first destination configured for receiving redodata . I am just wondering that LGWR process is able to serve two or more to destinations at the same time. If it is ok, I am wrong and I better to try harder to solve the problem. I read the Dataguard document for 10GR' and the example for the case I created (two standby databases),, it uses ARCH process to send redo data and so everything is ok in that example.
P.S I also configured standbys for real time apply.
    Waiting for your comments.
    Regards.

  • Does Antares autotune and otherplug ins work with logic and garageband?

i'm thinking it does, but not sure

I think it just has to be an 'Audio Units' or AU type plugin. There is a pretty basic pitch correction plugin built into Logic Express. I was pretty impressed with it.

  • Logic or GarageBand will not load.

Both logic and garageband will not load. They begin to load then shut down. Logic gets to the core audio portion of the load and stops.
I get similar error msgs for both programs, and they both say there is a problem with plugins rewire for melodyne, and it also mentions propellerhead.
I have trashed melodyne and nothing has changed.
    Please help!
Also, I'm able to load logic while holding control and NOT loading core audio.
    What is wrong?

    Hi,
    Preferences>audio units manager>uncheck that melodyne.
    Cheers,

  • For those using Logic and Protools

This is for any of you out there that use both Logic and Protools in your workflow. What are the reason(s) that you might do this? How do (if they do) these programs augment one another in the process of creating music? From initial idea to final mix, where do these programs plug in and why?
    Thanks in advance

I hear that there is no automatic Plug-In Delay Compensation in Pro Tools. You need to set a value manually. According to a training video I saw of Pro Tools, this appears to be true. I also hear that PDC still isn't implemented in the version 8.0 release, though I can't confirm that.
For a guy that's been using Logic for years, I may just be spoiled as far a PDC is concerned, but it seems like for all those missing features in Logic (such as Elastic Time), there are important things we take for granted that aren't available on the PT side. Add the 32-channel (16 stereo!) limit in LE that we rarely think about in Logic.
That said, PDC and channel limits aside, version 8 of PT seems like a pretty compelling upgrade from 7.x. I hope Apple is keeping an eye on things. If there's ever a serious competition between platforms as far as features go, it starts now.

    You're right.
but the one thing I do like about not having the computer calculate the delay, is that when I am doing my final mixing, I can calculate it myself. this might be a little geeky for some, but in the end it allows me to control this aspect of the DAW that I cannot do in other DAWs.
I have noticed sometimes in Logic that some things do not get played back at the same absolute timepoint. In other words, i suspect the PDC might be changing upon each playback. This is fine for most music, but when doing either electronica or Jazz (believe it or not) this is not good.
This has only happened to me once or twice, but is something to note. In PT HD, the delay remains constant, so dealing with it is a one time deal. Set your delays, and you're done.

  • Jam Packs and "Garageband Instruments" when reinstalling Logic?

What's the proper procedure when it comes to Jam Packs and 3rd party Apple Loops libraries when reinstalling Logic and OS X?
I'm keeping my Apple Loops on a separate drive and know that I can just drag them to the Loop Browser after reinstalling Logic. However, by doing so, I don't think I'll be getting the "Garageband Instruments" that are installed with the Jam Packs and some 3rd party Apple Loops libraries. Is that correct? If so, what's the best way to deal with this? Always installing all Apple Loops from the disks or perhaps saving a folder (which one?) with the Garageband Instruments before re-installing OS X?
When I last installed Logic, and told the installer to install the Jam Packs on an external drive, they were still installed on the system drive! Does anyone know why? Now what's the best way to move the Apple Loops? What I've done in the past is installing them to their default location, and then creating an alias in Home:Library:Audio:Apple Loops folder that points to the new location on the external drive. Is that the way to go or is another way better?
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.

Jam packs consist of two types of content. Loop content will go to where you choose to install it (an external drive if you wish). Instrument content has to go to the GB library, for a number of reasons, and the GB library will be on your system disk under Application Support/Garageband.
So backup your GB library in addition to your Logic related stuff.
It is possible to move much (but not all) of the heavy Instrument content to an external drive too, but there are gotchas with this.

  • Logic Pro 9 and GarageBand '11 won't recognize MIDI controllers

    Hi there,
I have two MIDI controllers that are not getting picked up by Logic or Garage Band and I'm unable to figure out why. I'm running Mac OS 10.9.4 (Mavericks) on a Mac Mini with a 250 GB SSD and 4 GB of RAM.
Setup 1 is a simple Acorn Masterkey 49 USB controller whose manufacturer claims needs no drivers, although it doesn't show up in my Audio/MIDI setup pane at all, no matter how many times I restart the computer and/or the controller in any combination. I can't use it with Logic or with Garage Band.
Setup 2 is a Digi002 Rack connected to the Mac Mini by Firewire and connected to an old-school Korg M1 as a MIDI controller. I can launch and hear the tracks I've made in the past with Logic, but now that Korg M1 is invisible even though the Core Audio Manager says my Digi002 Rack is connected and running. This setup has really never been able to speak with Garage Band, although I have been able to connect it successfully in the past.
I'm a newbie to this and don't know how to get under the hood to fine-tune MIDI set-ups within Logic or GarageBand. Is there something funky going on between Logic 9 and Mavericks, however? I'm beginning to wonder if that's the issue.
    With thanks,
    Dustin.

    Hi Dustin,
Nice to see someone pose a complete question with all the details...
First thing to do would be to delete Logic's preferences and the control surface preferences. Although I don't think it's going to help. I'll post the method at the end of this post.
One of the problem with older MIDI devices is that Apple changed something in their MIDI spec and some older MIDI devices either don't work (not recognized) or if they are recognized don't work reliably. Another problem, depending on ho old your Mac Mini is, the newer machines have USB 3.0 ports and that poses another hurdle.
Here's two things to try for the Acorn.
Turn the computer off, unplug the Acorn's USB cable. Restart the MacMini and let it settle for a couple of minutes, open Audio-MIDI Setup... plug the Acorn in, see if there's and life.
Try a powered USB 2.0 USB Hub, a hub that has it's own power supply. If you don't have one maybe you can borrow one as it's only a -possible- solution.
The Problem with the M! and Digi002 may be related. Are you using the very latest drivers available for the 002? Again, this may be a MIDI compatibility problem, although I thought this was USB only, I suspect it's more of a Digi002 driver issue with Mavericks than anything else.
MIDI Out on the M1 to MIDI IN on the 002
Delete the Logic 9 preferences file and control surfaces file.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the  com.apple.logic.pro.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this.
If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro. then delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
Be sure to include the Tilde~ in the path name above, be sure and delete both files.

    1. DO i have to install JAMPACKS on my new Macbook pro?
    2. Are JAMPACKS still compatable with the new GB?

See: This document explains what the in-App purchase is about.

Do you still have your old Mac?
How did you migrate from the old Mac to the new Mac? Did you transfer your old software and documents using Setup Assistant? Then your old GarageBand '11 version should have been migrated, and all your instruments.
if you did  not migrate GarageBand '11, copy your old Instruments Library and Loop Library over from the old mac. Copy the following folders to a thumbsdrive and merge the missing dontents into the corresponding folders on your new mac:  (from the system library - the top level library folder on your Macintosh HD):
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
And if you would like to continue to use GarageBand '11 for access to missing features, copy also /Applications/GarageBand over, but to a subfolder of Applications. I recommend, to install the old GarageBand as well. It can be used in parallel to GB 10.0, and will come in handy, if your old projects are having problems.

The JamPacks are nice to have, a terrific collection of instruments and loops, but if you did not have them previously, that will not help with your missing instruments. You can instll them by buying Mainstage 3. They work well with GarageBand 10.0

  • Why do we need to code  loop statement in both PBO and PAI in Table control

    Hi friends,
    i have 2 questions-
Q1-why do we need to code a loop and endloop statement in both PBO and PAI in Table control, sometimes even empty as well?
    Q2-what r d dynpro keywords?

    Hi,
It is required to pass information from internal table to table control so we loop it in PBO and to get the updated information back, we loop in PAI and update internal table content.
To get more knowledge on Table controls check these threads -

Is there any restart logic and looping logic in Oracle Warehouse Builder, process flow?

    Hi,
The answer is NO. The curent version does not have restartable functionality. You have to have your own design for this.

Hey, I've run a PC with XP/Pro trouble free the past three years, it's only foolish or incompetent people that have problems with them, anyway, recent Macs are PCs.
Your problem: Sounds like you did the Leopard upgrade over the old 10.4x OS.
If you look around you'll find that there are others with similar problems that have upgraded on top of the old OS. Most everyone that's run a clean install seems to have stable systems.

  • I'm getting audio in voiceover only on the right side in iMovie..  how can I adjust the pan.  Both right and left work in Garageband but not in Imovie.

I'm getting audio in voiceover recordings only on the right side in playback.  How can I adjust the balance?  I'm using an external mic and preamp that work fine (both channels) in Garageband, so it's not my recording setup.  Balance is Ok using internal mic but the sound is not as good.

When you share your project, use SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME.
    Click Options.
In the Sound settings/Channels, choose MONO.
In the Video settings, choose the codec of your choice (probably h.264) under Compression.

  • Is it OK to install both Logic Pro and Logic Express on my computer?

Is it OK to install both Logic Pro and Logic Express on my computer?
I use Logic to perform live, but i only have 2 USB drives on my computer, and i use them during my performances, one for my keyboard, and one for my audio interface...........therefore, i dont have room to plug in the "node key" in order to use Logic Pro.
So is it ok for me to have Logic Express installed, too?? This way, I dont need to plug in the "node key" (or whatever it's called).
I know i can buy a USB hub, but i cant afford one right now.
    Thanks, daddies!
