Loose DBConsole configuration when database is cloned

We recently moved to Oracle 10G and implemented the DBConsole. We have a test database that frequently gets overlaid by production. However, once the database is cloned, the console looses all its settings, and in many cases, have to be rebuilt. Is there a way to keep the Console in tact (backup settings, etc), while having the capabality to occasionally overlay the database?

Hello,
Are you using RMAN to clone? WHat do you mean loose dbconsole configuration? Aren't you able to login? Generally after clone all 3 following users generally get locked up ; DBSNMP, MGMT_VIEW, SYSMAN. Can you confirm is this the case with you? What type of setting beside backup setting you loose, jobs...? or chains?

    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.4 and ADF-BC in my project.

I have a requirement that when data base details are not configured properly in Weblogic Data Source or when Database is down,I need to display an error message either when I access application task flows or in login page itself when application starts.
    Can I achieve this???Please advice.

This is a TNS error. The system is not able to connect TNS by using br*tools.
Firstly, check your environment variables. They should be as same as java system environmnt variables.
    Secondly, check the link below;

You need to create a synonym and SAPUSER table for the gateway installation <sid>adm user on Java database. By doing so, br*tools will be able to connect to the java database.

  • Moving Configuration Manager Database to a Different Drive

    Hello,
Is there a way to move the Configuration Manager database to a different drive in the same machine?  We are using Configuration Manager SP1 and SQL Server 2008 R2.  We are running out of disk space in drive C:  Please advise what would be
the possible solution for this.  Thanks so much.
    Regards,
    Joann

Yes, follow the SQL Server documentation for moving database files.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345483.aspx
In general, I have an easier time when I have stopped the ConfigMgr services and the IIS websites first.
Usually, then I will run the "Relocation for Scheduled Disk Maintenance" procedure.

  • Configure standby database

    hi all;
how many system r required to configure standby database
i m configure standby database in a single(same) system where my primary database already running.if this possible or not
    i have configured my standby
but when i start "c:\sqlplus sys@orclstdy as sysdba"
then he create error ora-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    and when i start with "c:\set oracl_sid=orclstdy"
    sql>conn as sys/pass as sysdba
    connected to an idle instance
    sql> startup
ora-02778: Name given for the log directory is invalid
how can solve this problem . please reply

    Hi user569791
you can configure standby to multiple destinations(up to 9 different destinations) and it is also possible to configure in same system also.
you need to create standby controlfile for Physical standby database.
check whether the standby instance run as a separate service and whether you
have an relevant entry in tnsnames.ora file. note that the db_name is same for both
sites but only the instance name differs.
    Ensure that you have a
    1.valid cold backup of datafiles,
    2.valid standby controlfile
    3.standby init parameters with db_file_name_convert and log_file_name_convert
    parameters are valid
    4. a special init parameter called lock_name_space need to be given when you configure standby on same site.
check all these condition and Try again.

  • Configuring Oracle database as a resource

    Hi All,
I have configured oracle database as a resource in OIM following the steps given in connector's documentation.
But now when I am trying to assign this resource to a user, I am getting following error:
    Response: For input string: ""
    Response Description: Unknown response received
    Error Details
Setting task status... *"For input string: """ does not correspond to a known Response Code. Using "UNKNOWN".*
Any idea why I am getting this error?
    Thanks
    Gaurav

You need to supply more details.
Are you using the Database User Management connector?
    What actions are you performing?
What does the log say when you enable the logging for that specific connector.
We can't answer a problem if you don't supply the details.

  • How to configure the database monitoring (DBA Cockpit) after Support pack

    Hi,
I did the Support Pack Upgrade for BW system and i ran SGEN as well, now i need to configure the database , could you please suggest how to configure the database monitoring (DBA Cockpit) after Support Pack Upgrade.
Server is MSSQL , Component is SAP NetWeaver 2004s and OS is Windows NT.
    Plesae suggest.
    Chandu.

    Hi,
You are right. SAP delivers this functionality from SP-12. So when you have applied the SP-12, you must have done these config steps to enable the DBA Cockpit.
If you have done these steps earlier, So you must have DBA Cockpit enable right now and putting extra SPs like 13, 14 and so on, should not be a matter.
Now if you have not performed those config steps before, Please do them now and you will be able to use DBA cockpit.
Please understand that SP12 is the base to run DBA Cockpit.
    With Regards,
    Saurabh

    Hi,
The error is because either the primary database or the secondary database is configured as read only and the callback to create the secondary keys is null. A quick glance of the code, it appears as if you did not set up the secondary database correctly. In the Getting Started Guide for JAVA API chap 10, we have detailed information on what needs to be done as well as a code example. Please refer to http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/gsg/JAVA/index.html and look for Chap 10.

  • Problem configuring TassieDB database to work with JBoss Servlets + EJB app

    Hi everybody
I have been unable to get Budi Kurniawan's Tassie Onine Bookstore example (
http://benmira.free.fr/en/j2ee/sessionEJB.htm#ch29lev1sec4) application to read anything from the database TassieDB . I am not sure what is wrong. I downloaded the database from the CD. Then since this was an older version of Access, I had to let my Access convert it to the newer form.
I then configured the Database the way I thought I should in order for it to work. I created a Data Source Name called TassieDB, by following the procedure to create a System DSN on Windows. I selected the Microsoft Access Driver and associated my Database which I named TassieDB1, which I deposited under C:\budibookstore which also contains the package com.brainysoftware.tassie.servlet.ejb
When I access the SearchServlet page and type in "Computer" in the search box nothing turns up. I wonder what is going on?

    Hello;
Script has to be run from auxiliary.
Great details, but what I don't see is how you connect in RMAN.
    Example
    Start RMAN
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@recover2 auxiliary=sys/@reclone
    Recovery Manager: Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production on Wed Feb 22 14:50:31 2012
Copyright (c) 1982, 2009, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
connected to target database: RECOVER2 (DBID=3806912436)
connected to auxiliary database: RECLONE (not mounted)Nothing in your tnsnames or listener jumps out as wrong. I copied them into my text editor and compared against my working ones.
Generally for active duplication I start the future standby on a pfile NOMOUNT.
Auxiliary Instance Initialization Parameters Needed :
    DB_NAME
    CONTROL_FILES
    DB_BLOCK_SIZE
( add extra parameters like DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT instead of using the SET command - clean up standby spfile right after duplication )
Then start RMAN and finally run a single line duplication command.
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@primary auxiliary=sys/@standby
RMAN>duplicate target database for standby from active database NOFILENAMECHECK;Best Regards
