Loose screen on Macbook Pro Retina 15"
Hey there,
I am curious about something... and I might just being OCD over my super expensive laptop, but my screen is slightly loose on my Macbook Pro Retina 15". If I open the screen, I can slightly jiggle it on the right side, and it seems to be loose where the screen attaches to the hinge itself. I'm talking a small amount, like 1/4 - 1/2 mm in movement. Does anyone else notice this? It's completely solid at the left hinge.
If concerned, call AppleCare. Take advantage of your warranty before you lose it.

A0020 model of screen in Macbook Pro Retina 13' (Late 2013)
A0020 model of screen in Macbook Pro Retina 13'. Anyone know who is the manufacturer of this screen? I've tried to find it on the internet, but it's seems that nobody know. I'm worried a little bit about that, because I didn't knew about the problem with the LG displays in Mac. In case that it's LG, there is some instructions how to prevent screen degradation?
Go step by step and test.
1. Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own"
2. Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222

Thanks for the suggestion, the next step was to call Apple, who gave me a claim number, which I discovered you must have to get anything done with them. They refered me to a Apple store or repair center, after some reseach took it to the Computer Store in Mobile, Alabama and they were excellent. They took pictures of the screen with bug submitted it to Apple who denied the claim but they kept kicking it up to the next level and finally Apple agreed to sent new cover. The Computer Store had the cover the next day, they changed it out and now I am bug free. If your in the area of Mobile Alabama you can feel good about getting help from the Computer Store. For the two folks that responded to my note, Thank You, good comments and good advice.

I have a broken screen for MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) and I cannot find a replacement. Where I can find the screen? I will install myself. Thanks
Apple does not sell replacement parts, any you find will be third-party knockoffs. Take your Retina to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs tell you what needs to be done. New Retina screens are not cheap, they normally replace the entire lid as a unit.

LG Screen on Macbook pro retina late 2014
I had a previous retina macbook pro with samsung screen. Just bought the newly release Late 2014 Macbook pro retina 15' model. I found that this new one has LG Screen. Are they still bad and do they still have image burn-in issues.
Should i take it back to apple store.
MadanJust ordered a Retina MacBook Pro11,2 (mid-2014 15", 2.2GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, OSX 10.9.4 Pre-installed - Build 13E28) and have the exact same issue. The first thing I did when i booted it for the first time was enable FileValut2 and encrypt the disk. Though I failed to notice this behavior prior to encrypting the disk, the stuttering/lag happens without fail every time I have logged in from a cold boot, locked screen or sleep. Additionally I have noticed the same stuttering behavior when switching tabs on various built-in OSX applications such as the tabs on the About This Mac > More Info.... (System Information) dialog for example, and similarly other dialogs that experience this behavior of resizing when switching tabs. I was running no other software than About This Mac > More Info ... (System Information) and OSX 10.9.4 itself. The issue happens without fail with and without a USB mouse plugged in.
I am really glad to have found this thread and with such recent posts. I'd love to find out that this is just a software bug that will be fixed when OSX 10.10 "Yosemite" is released. If not, I hope the cause of this bug is determined soon so I can still exchange or have it repaired.

Black screen on MacBook Pro Retina Display after installing Moutain Lion. Need Help!
My macbook pro (retina) screen went black after I installed Mountain Lion.
I got a HDMI cable to another monitor and the image worked nicely there.
But i cant get it back on my MacBook Pro! I tried taking out the HDMI cable, restarting, searching on settings configs..
What should I do?
Are there any drivers i should install to get image back on my MacBook Pro Retina Display?
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks in advance for all the help. That helped me finding other people with similar problems.
But there is a major difference!
-They have a black screen after they login.
-My screen is black NOW! And I'm only using my BRAND NEW rmbp with the HDMI cable to my TV!
This isnt good at all and I would like to solve it asap..
I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion, taking out the hdmi cable and rebooting many times.
Until now, nothing!
Is my screen broken or maybe my video card has some problems?
I hope not! I just traveled from the US to Brazil and I dont want to search for an Apple Store here.
Any tips or ideas are welcome, thank you. -
Multiple kernel panics & black screen on Macbook Pro Retina early 2013
My Macbook Pro Retina (early 2013, 8GB ram, 250 GB hard drive) has been experiencing multiple kernel panics forcing rapid-fire restarts of the computer multiple times within a very short time frame. This is followed by the screen staying black even if the computer is on (keyboard lit up, can hear volume buttons) but nothing is on the screen. Once the screen goes black, I have to employ some combination of manually shutting it down (by holding down the power button) and then turning it back on (+/- doing an SMC reset) to get the screen working again. I also tried a PRAM reset once, but it didn't seem to have any effect, and I've repaired the disk permissions.
This issue has happened multiple times in the past week. It seems to vary as to how long it takes to happen again (could be a few days, could be less than an hour), and it has happened during multiple different activities (surfing the web, using Word, using Mail). I have experienced this both on Mavericks and after updating to Yosemite over the weekend.
I took it to the Apple Store on Saturday and while the Genius saw that the screen was black when I initially brought it in (even though the computer was on), we couldn't recreate the issue and the diagnostic tests he ran showed nothing. It even started back up fine for him. I thought I was OK, until I had another round of kernel panics + black screen this afternoon. At this point, doing a normal restart of the machine results in a kernel panic before it even makes it off of the loading screen and then a black screen.
This time, I checked the logs and saw the panic report included below. I don't know enough about this to understand what it means, but hopefully someone else does! Some internet searching has suggested that it might be a problem with the GPU (and the log below says GPU panic). Help, please!

Hi
I have a MacBook Pro Retina (Late 2013) with enabled File Vault on OS X Mavericks. When I boot up the mac freshly it takes quite long to get to the initial login screen (which as I understand is a pre-boot login provided by the recovery partition if File Vault is enabled). However, what is even more bothering me is that once I get to this screen, the whole UI is behaving extremely slow. The mouse makes jumps of a few inches on the screen and the animations (e.g. if you click a user and then an animation shows the password entry field) are running in slow motion and only update every few seconds. Typing the password afterwards runs smothly again (altought for example moving the mouse at this point still behaves as described before). After loggin in to the account OS X runs fine without any hicks. Can anyone give me a hit what this could be and how I could resolve this?
This has already been done:
Reset PRAM
Boot into recovery partition and run repaired disk and disk permissions
Run all OS X maintenance operations and cleared caches using OnyX
What I could imagine is that somehow the recovery partition is damaged (which as I understand is used to boot to the login screen if File Vault is enabled).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Green flashing Facetime screen on Macbook Pro Retina.
Long story: Purchased my Macbook Pro Retina in July 2012. No problems until 8 months later. At that time the computer would freeze and I would get the beach ball and have to re-start. I took it in for repairs, they replaced the logic board and reinstalled the OS. After that, whenever doing FT with my fiance in GA to his Macbook Pro, we initially get about 20-30 minutes of clear FT, then his image freezes, then the background around him flashes green, and the the FT screen goes completely green. My image down in the corner is fine, only his is affected. He can see me perfectly from his end and we both can hear each other. When I call him back, everything is fine again for about 2-20 minutes (it varies) before the problem happens again. I am I am now on my second replacement Macbook Pro Retina, but still same problem with FT. Apple is working on it over the phone. Today we tried FT together (me and the apple person) but she covered her camera--so no moving images on her end. Apple wants to see if the problem happens while doing FT with someone else. I am working on that now. What will this prove? I am so frustrated with all the time and energy this is taking on my part.
Please, please, O please...any input would be appreciated.Unable to make or receive FaceTime calls after April 16, 2014

Screen Garbage MacBook Pro Retina
MacBook Pro Retina 15, Mid 2014 16 GB RAM GT 750M 2GB VRAM 500 GB SSD
This phenomenon occurs when running PP 8.1 - no other app on my Mac produces this.
Exported video is fine and doesn't seem to affect function the of PP, but troubling to see this.
Screenshot of issue with PP in background.I have this problem on the lower third with Mavericks. Sometimes the computer just stays black when I leave it on battery and it goes to sleep. It won't wake up until I hold the power button down for a long time and it restarts. If I close the lid, then reopen later I get the artifacts you show here, but only on the lower third. I do not get them EVER if the computer isn't CLOSED to sleep. Of course when walking from one room to another (think in terms of large hotel where this could be a 15 minute walk) I don't want to shut it off but I don't want to carry it open either. THis is a problem. I didn't have this problem before mavricks. I'm on the original MBPr which I purchased Jan 2013. Otherwise it's been flawless. Just one dead pixel cluster and the battery life is gradually decreasing.

Loose Screen on Macbook Pro with Retina Display
I ordered my Macbook Pro with Retina display on the very day Apple announced the release in 2012; I received it about a month afterwards and I soon noticed that the screen was slightly loose. It did not bother me at the time because it jiggled only slightly, but it has been progressively getting loose to the point where it is really annoying me. I am no longer under Apple Care so I am worried that Apple will charge me an outrageous amount of money for the repair. Does anyone have a prior similar experience to tell me about how much it would cost?
Call your local Apple Store and ask them. Or take it in and they will give you an estimate. Cost depends on what is actually wrong.
Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. -
How much is it to replace cracked screen of macbook pro retina display?
I stepped on the corner of my macbook pro 13" retina display and the screen has cracked and there is a black square in the corner where the screen is broken. I was wondering from others who have had the same experience how much is it to have the screen fixed in the UK?
ThanksAt this time just the Apple stores in the US are doing in-store repairs on iPhone 5-series...the screen is $149. You will have to contact the Apple store there and see if they're doing repairs yet.

Video graphics break up + hidden screen text - Macbook Pro Retina
I can't believe it - my brand-new Macbook Pro and I've got a graphics card error!
I've got blocks of screen bleeding into each other. Not just for a few seconds on refresh (that has been happening), but hard...
At the moment, I'm looking at gmail running. I'm sending a message. The background has bled across the screen in a 10cm x 10cm block. If I click on one of the areas below, it appears, but the square bleed overlay remains.
Looking in the system log, I can see these messages occur two or three times:
CGContextClipToRect: invalid content 0x0
Safari: _GetISImageRefFromIconRefInternal: could not reain image ref 0x25b1009 (err=-2500)
There's also one message:

When I refresh the screen it goes away again.
Similarly, when running facbook, the text will disappear. For example:
I'll type:

I'll only see:

A few seconds later, it'll jump and fill it in and I'll see:

Screen on 15" Macbook Pro Retina Display.
I bough my 15" Macbook Pro Retina Display in August 2012. I recently noticed that when I open the macbook, I can see the screen shaking everytime I move the macbook pro on the table. I can feel it loose and when I touch it I test if it is loose I can see like 1/2mm movement back and forth when it is open.
I don't know if it is just me and my OCD sense senses for this macbook pro.
I just wanted to make sure.
Does it get loos when opening after you have used it for more than half a year?
Appreciate your oppinions!Your appointment at the genius Bar for an evaluation is free, in warranty or out.
They can explain why it wiggles, tell you whether that is normal or not, give advice about what you can do to reduce its annoyance, and fix it if it is not normal. That is what they are trained to do, all day every day.
There is no expectation that every time you visit they will find a way to make money off you, like a car dealership.
The Genius Bar service exists because Apple wants you to be a happy customer, if possible. If you are willing to make an appointement and come to them (spending your time and energy to do so) they will work with you for nothing in an attempt to solve your problems, whatever they may be. -
Hi Everyone,
This problem just started today. When I turn on or restart my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (Mid 2012 version), my screen is light gray like normal, and then after a few seconds my entire screen flashes completely bright yellow for a few seconds, and then it goes to the normal Welcome screen (where I choose to login as myself or a guest user). This suddenly started today and has not stopped since. This keeps happening every single time I turn on or restart my computer.
Yesterday I installed all the Mavericks and other updates that were available in the App Store, so I'm wondering if this is related to that since this never happened prior to my doing those updates yesterday. When I first installed the new OS X Mavericks (10.9.3) update, it went through the whole installation process (took about 10 minutes), and then during the installation I got an error message saying that it couldn't verify my iTunes application that was on my laptop, and then my laptop finished installing the updates. Then once my laptop restarted, the App Store "Updates" section said that I had to do the whole OS X Mavericks (10.9.3) and iTunes (Version 11.2) updates all over again. So my laptop did the whole installation again (took about 10 minutes, but this time I didn't get that "iTunes error message" during the installation process).
Now, when I go to the App Store "Updates" section, it says the following under "Updates Installed in the Last 30 days":
-Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update (Version 5.05) installed May 15, 2014
-OS X Update (Version 10.9.3) installed May 15, 2014
-iTunes (Version 11.2) installed May 15, 2014
-OS X Update (Version 10.9.3) installed May 15, 2014
-iTunes (Version 11.2) installed May 15, 2014
-Security Update 2014-002 (Version 1.0) installed April 22, 2014
I'm wondering if this flashing bright yellow screen upon bootup is related to the fact that my laptop installed the OS X Update and the iTunes Update two times each? Or is this new problem totally unrelated? It's just that this problem started a day after these 2 updates were installed twice.
My Macbook Pro Retina 15" (Mid 2012 version) is otherwise working fine at least as of now. The only issue so far is this flashing bright yellow screen every time I turn on or restart my computer.
If anyone could please help me fix this so that my bootup screen doesn't flash completely bright yellow anymore, I would be forever grateful!
Thank you so much for reading this and for any help you can provide.
hope everyone is well,
ElaineHey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!
Elaine
