Looses Wi-Fi on "sleep mode"

Hi, great phone btw,
I finally bought that nice phone in germany yesterday.
everthing works nice exept:
At home I´m loggind in in my W-LAN (Wi-Fi) everything works great but, if I put my phone into, dont know how to call it, "Sleep-Mode" that means, I push the Button on top of the phone (Screen gets black and phone is in standby). So after I push that button again, or the "Home-Button" The Wi-Fi signal is gone and it stands on "Edge". After I slide the the cursor to unlock I fine in my Wi-FI again.
So is this normal, because in the backgroud I have an instant messenger working in safari browser and it also get loose the connection while the phone is an "Sleep-Mode" / "standy mode".
Hope for an answer.
Sry my bad english

IT is Normal...
Reason would be that in sleep mode the assumption is you are no longer using the connection (since no Apple given application runs constantly)
SO yes it is Normal for it to "disconnect" in sleep mode and reconnect when the phone is awakend.
Also helps to perserve the battery life inbetween charges.
Welcome to the forums and also your English is fine.

  • TS4113 Mac mini looses audio output through HDMI after being in 'sleep mode'

Since a month or so, my Mac mini is unable to send audio through HDMI output after being in 'sleep mode'.
Recently this was no problem, but now I cannot hear anything after unsleeping (unless I reboot fully).
    Please help.

This is not just a Mac Mini problem.  I've found comments from people with all kinds of Mac, with any kind of external sound device, who all have this same issue.
The common factor is Mountain Lion.
Apparently there is a new build (12F42) which is supposed to fix this.
    http://www.gadgetguide4u.com/new-os-x-1085-build-number-12f42.html
Apple released it to their employees on the 25th Sept.
Here's hoping that build is available for the rest of us soon ...

  • MacBook Pro Stuck In Sleep Mode - Won't Boot

    LAPTOP
2008 17" aluminum Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard
    SCENARIO
I was using my laptop, closed the lid and took it to the office. Removed it from the laptop bag and it would not come out of sleep mode using mouse / keys. I hit the power button once (this has happened before and hitting the power button once has woken it from sleep mode). This did not help. I held down the power button for a hard reboot. The laptop shut off. Now I can't get it to turn back on.
    ISSUE
When I hit the power button to turn it on:
The SIL blinks twice slowly like it's in Computer Sleep state and then the laptop turns off.
When I hold the power button to turn it on:
The SIL blinks slowly once like it's in sleep mode, then stays solid and dim for 4 seconds, then blinks very fast for 2 seconds, then goes dark for a second, then blinks slowly once more like it's in sleep mode, then the laptop turns off.
In both instances, I can hear the dvd drive begin to spin immediately after hitting the power button. Also, when I put my ear to the laptop, I can hear the hard drive start up before the laptop shuts off.
    TROUBLESHOOTING
I've tried the following. All resulted in no change.
    - Reset PRAM / NVRAM
    - Reset SMC
    - Checked RAM was installed correctly, wasn't jiggled loose for some reason
    - Boot laptop with power cable, no battery
    - Boot laptop with battery, no power cable
    - Boot laptop with power cable and battery
    - The above 3 boot scenarios with PRAM / NVRAM reset and SMC reset

I just purchased my second fresh battery for this machine and cannot afford an entirely new laptop right now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Did you figured something out ? Mine, of similar age, started behaving the same yesterday. Since I replaced most of the original devices, I suspect the onboard clock battery being depleted by now... ? I'm not even sure there such a battery in there.

  • Satellite P200D-11R sound and graphics crash after waking up from sleep mode

    Hi,
I am wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences to mine (below) or can offer any solutions.
I have upgraded my P200D-11R OS to Vista 64 Ultimate to take advantage of the extra performance. I also add that the BIOS has already been updated to version 1.4.
Well, everything works fine with the standard 2Gig of RAM which the laptop was supplied with originally, however, when I upgrade the RAM to 4Gig (2 x 2GB Samsung 667mHz modules), sound and graphics problems appear every time the machine is brought back from sleep mode.
The sound card makes a very laud fuzzy noise every time it wants to play a sound and the graphics produce lots of horizontal lines on the screen. I then just have to restart the machine which means loosing all my unsaved work.
Everything works fine as long as the machine does not enter sleep mode. I have currently disabled the sleep mode to prevent the machine from entering it but I am finding life very hard without it.
I am very surprised and also disappointed at the fact that Toshiba did not test these machines with Vista 64 Ultimate and 4Gig of RAM!
    Extra info:
The memory is the same Samsung type as the 1Gig modules supplied by Toshiba originally with the machine, and the part number Toshiba recommends.
I have tried installing other (more recent) device drivers by Realtek and ATI without any improvements.
The memory modules pass all tests and are not defective. They have also been tested on my friends Dell notebook with no problems even in sleep mode.
I have installed my friends Dell 2Gig memory modules in my P200D and they too produce exactly the same results with post-sleep crashes.
My thoughts are that this must be another BIOS issue unless anyone can shed some light on the issue from another angle.
Please help! Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Sascha
Since you are running a Vista 32bit version, the upper limit of the memory recocnised by the machine is 3.2gb which is the maximum a 32bit operating system can address and use. The diffrence here is that I also upgraded my OS to Vista Ultimate 64bit to get yet better performance out of the 64bit dual AMD processor.
3.2gb of RAM on 32bit OS does not necessarily increase the performance. However, it keeps the performance stable when you open many more programs at the same time since the machine has more RAM to play with before staring to use the much slower hard drive as operating memory (Page File), to keep all thoes open programs running.
A 64bit OS such as Vista Ultimate 64, recognises the whole 4gb of RAM and much more (for instance, 8gb with 2 x 4gb RAM modules). The 64bit OS itself would generally consume more RAM to start with, however, with 4gb I found the general performance to be much better. Going back to the problem however, my P200D-11R with Ultimate 64 and 4gb RAM refuses to wake up from sleep mode gracefully and the graphics and sound crash every time, forcing me to restart.
My feelings at present is that eventhough your machine may be slightly different, I bet if you upgrade your OS to 64bit, the machine will start recognising all of the 4gb of RAM and post-sleep crashes will start to appear!

  • Stream 7 Sleep Mode Kills WiFi

Ok, This is going to sound Strange but here it goes.
Got a new stream 7, connected it to my wifi (802.11 g/n). When the tablet is awake and running it works great, wireless works great, etc. When it goes to sleep however, my wifi in the house for all the other devices (Phones, other computers, wireless bridge - that were working fine when tablet was awake) all loose the wireless connection, and ability to go to the internet, and so does the tablet. When the tablet is reconnected to the wireless  everything seems to work again. About the only thing i can think of is its 802.11 Power Save, but theres no way to turn that off. Furthermore, if i disable Wake on pattern match on the NIC, i loose the ability to go into sleep mode. The only hypothisis i have, is the Stream 7 is sending an 802.11 power save sleep packet (constently?) which the router dosent know what to do with and freezes the whole thing. Turning off the Wi-Fi or disconnecting the network makes the problem immedatly go away.
I have updated the BIOS on the tablet, updated the firmware on my router, Router is a Linksys E900 running DDWRT (which has no problems with any other devices), Any idea WTH is going on here? I have never seen a device do this before.

i think i got my problem figured out. It seems that it was my router - kind of. I had upgraded my router with DD-WRT, however it appears that DD-WRT does not support the "sleep" mode this tablet uses. After much troubleshooting, I was able to verify this by buying a new router; upgrading it to DD-WRT and the problem persisted. I downgraded it to the stock firmware and the problem went away. For me, this problem was especally irritating because it would bring down my wireless bridge. The bridge still occasionally drops, but it no longer appears to be related to the tablet's operation. I forgot to add that my other wi-fi devices no longer disconnect as well and their operation appears to be normal.

  • Lost Bluetooth Connection when in Sleep-Mode

    Hey,
when i have three devices hooked up with bluetooth to my 2009 27" imac (keyboard, magic mouse, magic trackpad) it randomly looses its bluetotth connection.
so i have no possibility to type my password to log in.
it mostly happens when the mac is in sleep-mode for longer period of time like over night or so.
i have to restart the system with on/off-button which realy ***** ...
does somebody have the same probs? or better a solution?
    thanks in advance...
    greetz

My 3gs disconnects from my wi-fi at night while plugged into my wall charger causing my AT&T data usage to go over my 200mb plan. I like to listen to a radio app overnight and this situation is quite annoying. AT&T forgave the overage but had NO solution to my paltry wi-fi delimma. I am going to try the "sync while connected to wi-fi" setting in I-Tunes but I am almost afraid to try it again because the overage may not be forgiven this time and It's not worth the hassle. I have been using my Macbook instead for this duty with no worries of an overage. I'm also a Pandora fan and this has limited me to just using my I-Tunes library for music instead of Pandora. This is a problem that benefits AT&T and I'm sure they bill for LOTS of overages because of this problem. I hope the I-Tunes solution will FIX this glitch.

  • Windows 10 - Unable To Come Out Of Sleep Mode

Hey Guys, So this is my issue. When I first got my laptop it came with Windows 8 and everything worked great. Recently I upgraded to Windows 10 and have noticed that after a few minutes (5-10 minutes or so) my screen goes black (I'm assuming this is sleep mode) as the laptop is still on and I am unable to see even the cursor. The problem here is that if I move my mouse/cursor or push any button the screen does not come back on, it remains black. What I'm forced to do now is hold down the power button and restart every single time I want to resume using my laptop, where I loose all of what  I was last dong. Pleasr help me. I don't want to be shutting down my system like this. Thanks!

I was having the Exact Same Issue. The reason I decided to go back to windows 8 was because since upgrading to Windows 10, when my computer goes into sleep mode, I cannot wake it up. I have to press and hold the power button to shut it done and restart. Even if I close my laptop, and reopen the lid, it wont start back up and I have to press and hold the power button and shut it down and restart.  After trying to restore my HP Envy Laptop from Windows 10 to Windows 8, it got stuck in a Repair PC Loop and I could not even access the desktop, I tried the restore option to an earlier date and that failed and all the repair options also failed. The last option I had was to do a full PC Refresh, and that one worked. It took about an hour but no data was lost, and only a few of my downloaded apps were removed. An html url was left on the desktop that showed a list of all the apps that were removed. So all I did was download those back and now im back up and running Windows 8.

  • HP laptop does not wake up from the sleep mode! Urgent help needed!

    Hi everyone,
I have purchased HP Pavilion DM4 laptop 3 months ago, for the past month when the laptop goes in the sleep mode ( after being idle for several minutes) and I then try to wake up by hitting any key, even power button, nothing happens. Power light keeps beeping but nothing happens. I have to pull battery and restart the laptop, this is extremly painful as I keep loosing my unsaved documents all the time.
This happens once in every 2 tries. I would really appreciate a help!

Perform a hard reset on the Notebook. To perform a hard reset, follow the steps below.
Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC.
Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
Disconnect any external devices or peripherals connected to the notebook. Press and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds
After this, update the firmware of your Notebook by downloading it from here Let us know if issue persists even after this done.

  • No WiFi when coming out of Sleep mode

I have searched about a dozen pages looking for a solution to this and have found nothing (or at least my eyes are crossing too much to go through the other 20+ pages) But...
Randomly, after using WiFi on my MacBook, and closing the lid to put the computer to sleep, sometimes it won't connect to the WiFi router upon waking back up. it happens on both my home and work routers (both of different makes), and will not connect unless I physically reset the router (something I can not always do and is very inconvenient) Restarting the computer will not fix the problem either, nor will turning the Airport, and then back on to reset that... nothing will make it connect unless the routers are reset, and THEN I try to connect it goes.
Does anyone else get this? It it a known bug? Is there a way to kick the WiFi back into place when this happens without having to reset the routers?
Any advice, or help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Yes!! I am seeing the same problem.
Sorry no answers yet but can describe what I've seen:
Got a new MacBook (10.5.2) last week, got it connected to my home wifi network, but after putting it into sleep mode it would loose the conection.
Managed to get it connected again by removing security from the router (as a temporary experiment). But with it switched on it would not connect.
The error message is "Connection Timeout", although I have occasionally (normally on the first attempt after a reboot) got "Invalid Password".
The router is a Netgear DG834PN, and I have a number of devices attached without a problem, including Dell laptop running XP, iPhone, Wii.
Got to the point where I tried changing the SSID on my router and tried a different type of security (first time I used WEP, second time WPA Personal). Worked great until the laptop went to sleep (for long enough to loose the connection). After waking would not reconnect.
Tried restaring lapttop, unplugging router, changing router security back to WEP. Can see the router, but cannot connect.
Speculating here, it's as if the macbook is storing the wifi password for the router incorrectly - or retrieving it incorrectly. Unfortunately I don't know enough about Macs to poke around under the bonnet, and the Wifi options are a little light.
    Please can anyone help??
This is my first MAC and I really want to love it
    cheers,
    Sam.

  • No signal on sleep mode.

Hello, i've an iPhone 4 and when the screen goes to sleep it looses all signal bars.
The signal goes away 4 seconds after entering sleep mode (no messages, no phonecalls and no notifications) and it only recovers all the bars when turning the phone back on.
I have the newest IOS version. Im going crazy as I have to leave the phone ON all the time so that I can receive calls, this drains my battery.
I tried something I found on a website:
    - restoring the network settings,
    - rebooting,
    - putting the phone in airplane mode,
    - rebooting again
    and it doesn't help...
This doesn't happen when the phone is being charged, but obviously I cant leave it charging all the time. and this doesn't solve my problem. Apparently my iPhone is trying to save battery but not very intelligently.

How do you know that "when the screen goes to sleep it looses all signal bars" as the screen goes blank when it's asleep, and there's no way for you to see the bars. iPhones don't save battery by turning off reception while sleeping.
If what you mean is that the phone doesn't ring or receive calls, messages, or notifications when asleep, this is another problem. Did you read the troubleshooting section of the User Guide. You need to try:
    Reset phone
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
Restore in iTunes as a new iPhone (without using a backup)
If the last step doesn't help, there may be a hardware issue and take it to Apple or whoever provides warranty service in Mexico.

  • Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock? I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on and start playing that Radio Station from Sleep mode at spec

Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock?
I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on from Sleep mode and start playing that Radio Station at specific times of the day?
Any App or plug-in that does that?
    Many thanks
    Kevin

Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
    1.  In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
    2.  Export the playlist (as .m3u works well).  Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
    3.  In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
    4.  Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
    5.  For "alarm" select Open File.
    6.  Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open.  It will probably be some default entry (like iCal).  Click on it will allow you to select "other."  Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time.  You don't need to keep iCal running.  If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do.  Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button.  Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

  • Going in & out of sleep mode

I have an iBook G4 with a 12" display I haven't had any problems with it until my last update (I update whenever there are available updates). I restarted my mac like normal after the update and found that after the white loading screen with the tiny apple logo loaded my mac asked me to restart. It did this 5 or 6 time in a row. With luck it finally loaded back up and I backed up all of my files & decided to reformat and start from scratch thinking it was something to do with the update.
After the reformat & reinstallation of OS 10.4 I thought I was ok, but I wasn't. Now when I shut the screen for it to go into sleep mode it seems to start sleeping then turning itself back on, then sleeping again. It does this until I open the screen back up. Next it will come on and then go back to sleep until I wake it with the keyboard, then it runs fine.
I need to know whats wrong with my iBook so I can see about getting it working right again.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1.33 Ghz, 512 Mb Ram

Update it only happens now when it is plugged in to the charger.

  • Mac Tower Pro  10.8.5 keeps going into sleep mode

Purchased from Apple, refurbished 2012 Mac Tower Pro.  At the same time, purchased a new Dell U2713HM, 27" monitor.
Have been operating on this new system since about the first week of December 2013.
    Issue:
The computer has constantly gone into sleep mode after a few minutes of no activity.  I can have iTunes radio playing, but the system still goes into sleep mode.  As  I am typing and moving the curser, the machine stays awake.
This has caused much frustration because when it goes into auto sleep mode, it quits all programs that I am in, and when it does this, I lose all the work I had accomplished.  It litterally closes everything and goes to sleep in about 2-3 minutes of no activity.
BTW:  the computer and monitor have all its new OEM cables that came in the box, when I purchased the units.
    Solutions attempted:
System Preferences — Energy Saver:  computer sleep and display sleep set to "never"  and unclicked the box "Put hard disks to sleep when possible."
Dell settings:  Turned off all energy savers.
    Results:
    Nothing.  Problem persists.

I apologize for the angst.  The problem has cost too much money in lost time and material because when it would automatically shut down after a few minutes, all my work was lost.
I misunderstood the terms of the warranty.  Thank you for your input and patience.  Much appreciated.  For the benefit of others that experience this with a new Mac that auto shuts down.  Check the following:
    1.  Go to System Preferences.
    2.  Click on Security and Privacy.
    3.  Click on Advanced  (bottom right corner)
    4.  If the first line is checked (Log out after 5 minutes of inactivity);  uncheck it and then click OK button.
    5.  Be sure to click the lock before existing Security and Privacy.
Now the machine will cease shutting down programs to go into sleep mode as soon as machine is inactive for a few minutes.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Draining Battery Fast in Sleep Mode

I have a new Yoga 2 Pro with i7 processor. It works great and normal battery life is about 4-5 hours. But with a fully charged battery, i can close the lid at night triggering sleep mode, and wake up to an almost dead battery.
Why is this happening? It's really dissapointing and I'm going to return it if I can't find a fix. I'm on the latest BIOS with all current updates. I am not using Hibernate mode.
Closing the lid shoud not cause battery to continue to drain at normal usage rates.
I'm hoping it's the WINDOWS 8 software but I've tried all the settings I can find.

the OP said battery was draining overnight because y2p was not going into sleep mode. then op changed some settings and, as i understand it, now his y2p does not drain battery overnight because he pushes power button and it goes into hibernate mode before closing lid.
I would like to raise the issue of the difference between hibernate and sleep mode. I too find that if i put my y2p (and my mbp-bootcamp) into hibernate mode then my battery does not drain overnight. however, both my laptops drain the battery overnight in sleep mode... anyone have clear understanding of this? i've look at many articles on the web, but haven't found any that specifically indicate how fast sleep mode should drain batteries. I think my gf's mba-OSx also drains overnight in sleep mode and OSx doesn't even have a hibernate option (correct me if i'm wrong)...

My iphone 4s will not find my 6500A  710n-z when in powersave/sleep mode.  I really don't want to disable the powersave mode...it already has latests firmware installed.  Suggestions?  It will print if I wake up the printer by hitting the power button to wake it manually.

I had this problem for about 3 months Now, but today I think I fix it,  by clicking on SETTINGS and then DO NOT DISTURB and switching MANUAL from green to White, now I receive my calls, try this it worked for me..:)
