Loosing connection for wireless mouse...?

Every time I turn my MBP on or switch users, my wireless mouse looses its connection and I have to set it up again as a new device. Anyone know a way around this so?

How patient are you? I find it can take a minute or two before the Mac gets around to re-acquiring my Kensington Bluetooth mouse. This is what happens on an iMac, but it may well be similar on a MacBook. It's tedious and annoying, but I rarely log out or reboot, so it hasn't been too big a problem for me.

  • 5k iMac looses connection to bluetooth mouse

Brand new 5k iMac looses connection to Apple Bluetooth mouse.
Sometimes it reconnects automatically, sometimes I have to turn it off and on again to reconnect.
It happens all day long. Really frustrating!!!
Anyone knowing if it is hardware or software related?
Any suggestions for å solution is appreciated...

Thank's for your reply rkaufmann87, but it is not setup related.
The wireless mouse worked without any problems om my previous iMac.
On the new 5k, it seems that the Bluetooth-connection disconnects the mouse, without any obvious reason, then reconects after 5-15 sec's.
This happens regularly during the day.
    Both machines is running OS10.10.1

  • Macbook Pro Retina (15") can't connect to wireless mouse and external USB keyboard

    Hi All,
I got my new MacBook Pro Retina (15 inch) about 3 weeks ago. It works fine. I got a 30" Dell screen that I am using via thunderbolt/usb adapter. Also, I am using a thunderbolt ethernet adapter. Both adapters work fine without any problems.
I have an apple usb keyboard connected to the USB hub of the screen, as well as my iphone cable. It is a regular, full size apple keyboard. In addition to this, I have a logitech nano connected directly to the right usb port of the macbook pro.
This setup was working well until a few days ago. I lost connectivity with my mouse. Initially, I thought the batteries are empty. After replacing them, I still had no connection (again, the usb receiver is *directly* connected to the macbook).
I changed a few cables here and there and noticed that I can get either the keyboard to work or the mouse but not both at the same time. A reboot did not help.
Did anybody encounter such a strange problem already? If so, what could I possibly do?
    Thank You,
    --Martin

    Hello nikkig00,
It is certainly difficult to use the computer if your wireless keyboard and mouse do not connect.  I found a few resources I recommend for this issue.
I recommend reviewing this article first:

If the issue persists, I recommend reviewing the section titled "Top troubleshooting tips" in the article below.  Step 9 specifically stands out to me for the issue you described:
    9. Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac is all it takes to get things running smoothly again. You may also want to try resetting your computer's PRAM and NVRAM.

  • Bluetooth can't connect to wireless mouse

After working flawlessly for two years, now my iMac no longer connects to the wireless mouse and keyboard that came with it. I changed the batteries in both to no avail. A US̆B mouse works fine. What could be causing this?

  • Have to connect my wireless mouse each time

    Hi,
I happen to be one of those people who shuts down my iMac at the end of each day of work. When I arrive the next morning and turn it on, it always says it cannot find a mouse to connect to.
(I'm using Snow Leopard and a mouse that's probably more than a year. Also use a wireless keyboard which always connects automatically.)
Even though my mouse is switched on, I always have to shut it off and turn it back on. Then my iMac finds it and connects to it.
I have tried clicking the mouse to make the green light come on (I'm guessing that's what "make it discoverable" means--activate it in some way??)
So is there any way to remedy this? It's getting really tiresome. Thinking of going back to the wired mouse.
(I actually had this same problem when I first starting using the wireless mouse and stopped using it because I didn't want the hassle.)
    Thanks for your help!

No. I, myself, made the mistake of assuming Discoverable meant the mouse, or whatever Bluetooth device you have paired, is discoverable and, therefore, needed so the computer can find it. That's not what it means. It means the computer is discoverable by other devices. And, other devices would include someone else nearby attempting to hack in by way of Bluetooth. I suppose if you live on a farm in Utah with the nearest neighbor fifty miles away, it's a moot point.
I just realized what discoverable means because someone's SMART Phone in a nearby apartment yesterday was attempting to pair with my computer, I think quite by accident. I got a message to that effect and denied. It may also have meant that they left their phone, unwittingly, on Discoverable. In any case, Discoverable should be disabled
On further research, I found that it's also advisable in Bluetooth Prefernces> Advanced to leave "Blutooth-PDA-Sync Modem" in "Serial ports that devices use to connect to this computer" unchecked (the default is checked, so uncheck it) and "Share my Internet connection with other Bluetooth devices" unchecked, as well.
"Open BT Setup Assistant at startup".... "Allow BT device to wake" and "Prompt for all incoming audio requests" should all be checked.
If your mouse is paired and made a Favorite, you should not drop the connection. Mine is now set up as above and I'm not having any issues staying connected.
Perhaps leaving "Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant...."  checked, the default, presents a security risk. For the time being, I'm leaving it checked.

I suggest removing the driver via Device Manager, then re-installing the drivers from HP Recovery manager.
Make sure the bluetooth dongle and the drivers are compatible with Vista 64bit.
I have more HP devices than you'd expect.
1 HP TouchPad 32 GB with Android
    2 HP Touchsmarts (310-1000z and IQ527)
    2 HP Printers (J6480 and J5750)
    1 Laptop (HP DV6253CL)
Have at least some experience in each of those devices, and i'll do my best to help you.
    Kudos if I helped!

Wireless vs. wired doesn't really matter, however, optical mice and smooth surfaces don't mix.  Nearly all mice on the market nowadays are optical (laser is a subset of optical) - I've seen one mechanical mouse on a semi-new machine in the past five years.
Really almost anything that is not a smooth surface will do.  I've used sheets of paper in the past, although on my main desk I have a mouse "pad" that consists of a plastic base with a rubberized anti-slip material below it and a patterned surface on top.  I don't see anything similar listed on BBY's site though.
Carpeting/cloth materials are usually not so hot though - they tend to catch the rubber surface.
There are various products from Razer in BBY's mouse pad section, all of which should more than meet your needs.

  • Internet connectivity for wireless devices on homefusion

I am having an issue with my homefusion router.  I can connect my wireless device (smartphone, kindle, etc.) but I cannot get internet connectivity.  Anybody have any suggestions before I have to call support?
    Thanks

        Hi JLovell,
It's great that you're able to get devices connected to the HomeFusion. This means the device is broadcasting the service to you. By not being able to actually browse the web, this means that the service is being stopped by something else. We will need to verify the account is setup right on our end of the system (activation successful and right plan setup). Once that's done on our end, you can reboot and that's the only step that can be done on your end.

  • Been losing connection for magic mouse and wireless keyboard

When I have my MBP running Mavericks in clamshell mode, I lose connections to both magic mouse and apple wireless keyboard in clamshell mode. I've tried all the PRAM SCM, aluminum foil and paper tricks. What I then did was test what happens when I leave the MBP open rather than in clamshell mode and it appears to avoid losing connection, at least that is what I've concluded with Mavericks for now..... anyone else able to replicate this? Having to leave the MBP open is not ideal.

Barry, thanks, still not working.  I've tried every thing I can think of or have read, what I'm concluding is that there is either a problem with Mavericks or something has changed on how bluetooth works in Mavericks. Did not have this problem for the last 4 years. I can reproduce the problem when I close the laptop. I had the Bluetooth and wireless card checked out and replaced about 3 weeks ago. Problem has continued.

  • Problems with bluetooth connection to wireless mouse and keyboard

I am using a mac book (aluminium) with 10.6.4 with a Cinema Display and a wireless keyboard and mouse. My time capsule is located only 1 meter away from the mac book and every time the automatic sync starts my mouse and keyboard do not repsond anymore. It seems that the bluetooth connection is somehow heavily loaded due to the network traffic. I have updated all devices and restarted the computer several times. It always keeps on doing that. Any help?

what you are seeing is called _*wireless interference*_.

    Hi,
What is your keyboard & mouse set ? Do they come with an USB dongle ?
If yes, you need to move that dongle to new machine and you don't have to do anything, they will work automatically.
If no, that means they use Bluetooth or built-in receiver, in this case, your machine must have bluetooth or a receiver.
My question: do you know what is the model of the keyboard & mouse set ? (Look at the bottom of the keyboard).
    Regards.

I have this same problem. Hopefully someone will know the answer. My Netgear router drops the connection every time I put the macbook to sleep or shut it off. When it boots back up, there is always an error about connecting. I have to go to Network Diagnostics to just get it to work again.
