Loosing connection to wireless

Hello i have a new macbook which i am connecting to teh internet via wireless netgear router (not sure of exact model whilst as work) and works fine, i have been connecting it as a airport connection and no issues until i reboot or logoff in which case i have to go through the assistant to create a new connection and then it works..
Any one any ideas as to why it keeps loosing the connection?
thanks
carlo

I have this same problem. Hopefully someone will know the answer. My Netgear router drops the connection every time I put the macbook to sleep or shut it off. When it boots back up, there is always an error about connecting. I have to go to Network Diagnostics to just get it to work again.

  • Constant Loosing Connection With Wireless

I have had my Wireless Router for almost 7 months and it has constantly about 6 times loosing my connection. I have made many calls to Linksys. They have been very helpful and gotten my back online. But it just continues..

Go to Linksys website and install the latest wireless router firmware, also install latest driver for your wireless adapter. Also you can check other factors that can affect wireless signal. Hope can help you..

  • Loosing connection for wireless mouse...?

Every time I turn my MBP on or switch users, my wireless mouse looses its connection and I have to set it up again as a new device. Anyone know a way around this so?

How patient are you? I find it can take a minute or two before the Mac gets around to re-acquiring my Kensington Bluetooth mouse. This is what happens on an iMac, but it may well be similar on a MacBook. It's tedious and annoying, but I rarely log out or reboot, so it hasn't been too big a problem for me.

  • I have a new lion server and 4 lion laptops. The laptops loose connection to the shared documents and printers from the server after roughly 1 hour. By disconnecting and re-connecting wireless the connection is regained to shares and printers

I have a new lion server and 4 lion laptops. The laptops loose connection to the shared documents and printers from the server after roughly 1 hour. By disconnecting and re-connecting wireless the connection is regained to shares and printers. We can still surf the web when it goes down.

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • Loosing connection on my wireless mouse

    Hello all...
I am wondering if someone has the same problem. I have a new Imac 27" and for some reason I keep loosing connection between the computer and the wireless mouse. Didn´t happened before... but since I changed the batteries in both the mouse and the keyboard it started to do it... I don´t understand how that would cause that problem... The batteries are new..
    Any advice?
    Thanks a lot

  • TC Looses connection to the Internet for wireless device & new Apple TV

I have a new TC (1 TB) that I got within the last month or two, I use it as my Internet router behind my DSL modem. TC gets a DHCP address from my DSL modem then does NAT to both Ethernet and Wifi devices behind it. After a short period of time I have noticed that my Wifi devices (New Apple TV, Macbook Pro, & 2 Iphones) will loose connectivity to the Internet, although they never loose their Wifi connection. What is strange is that I have several hard wired Ethernet devices that can still access the Internet going through the TC at the same time the wireless devices can not.
In order to get the wifi devices back working I have done a few things, disconnected and reconnected the Ethernet cable between the TC and my DSL modem, power cycled the TC, power cycled my DSL modem. It seems like the most reliable method is power cycling the TC.
This seems to happen pretty frequently however with no pattern or cause I can detect. The only interesting thing is that I just installed my New Apple TV and prior to that I do not recall having to recycle the TC. I am inclined to think the TCP video streaming might be overloading the TC and causing the wireless process to crap out while the ethernet ports are fine.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Will do some more troubleshooting and will contact Apple support at some point. I will also update this thread when I find out more.

I have a similiar problem - but I don't have Apple TV - and when the TC looses internet connection it is for wired and wireless devices. WLAN and LAN still working.
At the same time i cannot access the configuration of the TC thru Airport - are you able to do this?
I also have the feeling that high data loads provokes the error more often.

  • My wireless mouse for my iMac keeps loosing connection. Started after I was having problems with computor not waking up and I put the the setting to "never". Anyone having same problem?

My wireless mouse for imac keeps loosing connection. Started after I was having truoble with computor not waking up and I put the setting to "never sleep". Any suggestions?

If it's an Apple mouse, make it "Favorite" in Bluetooth preferences.
If it's not, the same thing might help, too, but if the problem continues it could be a driver issue (possible incompatibility with your OS X version).

  • TS3048 Wireless Keyboard constantly looses connection

My Apple Wireless Keyboard (Part Number: MC184LL/B) constantly looses connection (as often as once/minute; but sometimes it will stay connected for up to 20-30 minutes before cutting out).
    Details
    >It is 2' from my Macbook Pro.
    >There's a Drobo next to the computer, but the cut-out happens whether Drobo is on or off.
    >Battery indicator says keyboard is 100%.
    >Thunderbolt Display in vicinity.
    >Happens at multiple locations within my house.
    >Error message is "connection lost"
    Suggestions?

    ACTUALLY: Problem is NOT FIXED.
Making the keyboard a FAVORITE helped--the connection goes down less often, but it still cuts-out, sometimes regularly. What else can I try?
Here's an RSSI readout, if that's of any use:

  • Wireless Keyboard Randomly looses connection

Since the last MACOSX update (10.5.4) my aluminium wireless keyboard looses connection randomly (every 3 to 5 minutes). Batteries are charged. Has somebody made same experiences? I never had this before.
    Thanks
    Bernd

I've intermittently experienced this issue as well, in the past, where the the keyboard would keep disconnecting and reconnecting with the computer. Sometimes when it would disconnect, the wireless mouse would start blinking out as well -- i.e., the onscreen cursor/pointer tracking would become choppy and slow, and I would have to turn the mouse off and then back on to restore normal functionality. Ad infinitum ad nauseam.
If memory serves, someone observed elsewhere in this forum that the issue is not, in fact, a malfunction with Bluetooth, but rather overzealous power management algorithms in the keyboard itself (i.e., "It's not a bug, it's a feature!") -- something to do with how the hardware determines the current level of battery charge (as depicted in System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Bluetooth).
Now, this may not work for you, and I'm not entirely sure why it worked for me, but around the time I was experiencing this behavior, I had regular alkaline batteries in my keyboard but nickel-metal hydride (i.e., rechargeable) batteries in my mouse. Once I swapped out the (otherwise perfectly good) regular batteries in the keyboard for the same brand of rechargeable batteries as in my mouse, the connection issues ceased immediately and -- knock on wood -- they have not recurred.
So while I'm not a hundred percent sure my exact solution will work for everyone, I suspect fiddling around with your battery configuration might be a step in the right direction, troubleshooting-wise.

  • Cisco 7921 Wireless DCHP Timeout after loosing connection

    Running 7921
    AP 1200 Software Version 12.3(4)JA
I'm having a problem that after I set the phone up. Everything comes up fine and works great but whenever I hit a deadzone or if it looses connection, the phone will try to configure the IP and then it gives me a DHCP timeout and never connects again. If I reset my TFTP settings it then works again. How can I prevent this?

Yes per my 7921G Deployment Guide @ http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7921g/6_0/english/deployment/guide/7921dply.pdf, you need 12.3(8)JEA or later to run the 7921G phone successfully.
12.3(8)JEC is ok for the 1230, but would suggest 12.4(3g)JA1 or later for the 1240.
For static WEP, need to ensure the keys on the AP and the client match. If you have 2 keys where one is tx on key 1 and the other is on key 2, then the other side needs to have the same key to be able to decrypt the packets.

  • Wi-Fi loosing connection every few seconds on my macbook pro and its not my router's fault (running yoseomite)

Basically I bought my new Macbook Pro retina display in September 2014. My wifi was working perfectly well for about a month or two until Yosemite was brought out. I'm not sure if it was immediately after I downloaded Yosemite or not, but not long afterwards I noticed I was having trouble with my wifi (and not just mine but my schools as well). Every time my computer tries to join the wifi network it will work for a while (5 seconds) and it will say that I have a wifi connection but then it will just stop working and it will say I'm not connected to wifi. A few seconds later and it will then reconnect and say I have wifi. I am fairly certain this is not my wireless router ( a BT home hub) as I have other devices such as my iPhone and a computer which does not suffer these problems. After a while of it loosing connection and then gaining connection it will finally stop and the wifi icon at the top will suggest I have a wifi connection but when I hover over it, I see it says "Wi-Fi:looking for networks..." and then 2 seconds later it will say "Wi-Fi: On" and it will repeat like this for however long I am on the network. When the icon appears to suggest I have a connection I am able to load a webpage but it is slow and watching Netflix can be tiresome. I've scoured these forums for information that will solve my issue however all I have found is outdated information from 2010 or 2012 or too technical information that I can't understand. Does anyone else have this problem, has anyone else found a solution, it would be much appreciated if any one could help me solve t.

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
Be sure to test on more than one Wi-Fi network, if at all possible. A desktop computer can be tested with a mobile hotspot, such as the hotspot created by a cell phone. If the problem only exists on one network, then the access point of that network should be the focus of your attention, not the computer.
    Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
    Step 4
Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences and unlock the settings, if necessary. Select the Power Adapter  tab, if there is one. Uncheck the box marked
              Wake for Wi-Fi network access
    if it's checked.
    Step 5
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
    Step 6
    In the Wi-Fi settings, select
              Advanced... ▹ TCP/IP ▹ Configure IPv6: Link-local
    Click OK and then Apply.
    Step 7
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 8
    Reset the PRAM.
    Step 9
Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. You'll be prompted for the password when you reconnect. Save it in the keychain.
    Step 10
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Loose connection between Mac Mini and Apple TV 2

Help!     I have a new Mac Mini 2.5 ghz running Lion and Apple TV2 hooked up to my 32 inch LG TV.
Before I got the Mac Mini, Apple TV was running just fine on the same network with my Win 7 machine.
Ever since I got the Mac Mini and I run the Apple Tv at the same time.  I loose connection on both.  My cable provider replaced the router and all my other Win 7 machines run just fine on a wireless network.  I might also add that when the apple tv and mac mini goes down, my ipad 2 goes down too.  Of course, air play doesn't work .  It comes and goes.
I have a 2nd Apple TV 2 and hooked that up to the same tv with the same results.  I have called Apple many times.  They are helpful but not been able to solve my problem.   The cable provider and I have traced down to a conflict between the Apple TV, Mac Mini and the IPAD 2 .
Does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?

I have had multiple ATV's, desktops, laptops, and i Devices all running at the same time without a problem. Typically on a network when you start 2 devices and the connection crashes it is an IP problem. Check the IP address on both devices and see. It is usually easiest to have the router assign IPs automatically using DHCP. The router, computers, and ATVs should also be set to DHCP.
If everything is set to DHCP try disabling DHCP and assign fixed IPs to each device.

  • IMAC looses connection to Printer

Computer will not print and seems to lose connection to the printer. I deleted all printers and made a new printer connection. Printer has address 192.168.0.14.  Later IMAC looses connection to printer again. I look at address on printer and it is now 192.168.0.15. Its done this several times. So why does the printer keep changing its address? Is there a way to set it permanently?

Hi  I may have found what you are looking for to set the printer up with a dedicated IP Address. The printer obtains the IP address from your router, I'm not sure why your router is reassigning the IP addresses so frequently.  All of the steps for troubleshooting the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection are on available on that document, but I have copied the basics on setting up the Static IP address. (Solution five: Assign the printer a static IP address) You can review that document and try the other solutions if you continue to have connectivity issues. Locate your printer's current IP address, which you already haveOpen an Internet browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) on your computer.Type your printer's IP address in the browser's address bar, and then press Enter. The Embedded Web Server (EWS) opens.Click the Network tab from the EWS navigation menu.In the Wireless section, click the Network Address (IP) or IPv6 configuration, depending on your network setup.Click Manual IP, and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address.
A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays.Don't forget to save or apply the settings I believe you might want to try to refresh your network connection afterwards. Power cycling your router allows it to reestablish a fresh connection to all of your devices. Here's how to power cycle your network if you are unsure: 1) Unplug the power cable from your wireless router (NOTE: Do not reset the router)
    2) Do the same for the printer
    3) Shut down the computer
    4) First plug the router back in, and wait for it to fully power up
    5) Then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid.
    6) Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on  Check to make sure the manual IP address has stayed on the printer.
You may also have to remove and add your printer in Printers and Scanners.Open your System Preferences, click on Printers and Scanners.Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer.Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!   Thanks,

  • Loosing connection to my iMac drive

    Hello Support Community,
I have an late 2012 late model iMac and a 13in Retina pro MacBook Pro.
I do a lot of graphics work and what I used to do (before upgrading my MacBook) is do most of my graphics work on my iMac, but sometimes want to sit on the couch and use my MacBook instead.
So i'd log into my iMac's drive on my MacBook and just access the files (so all the files stay on my iMac).
In the last 3 months I have run into a problem where while connect to my iMac's drive, the drive would drop out (loose connection, as you can see by my pings below), which would then make my MacBook not happy and the finder would have the spinning wheel of death for a long time, UNLESS I get up and "wake up" my iMac or force quite the finder on the MacBook.
I have set the Hard drives NOT to sleep on the iMac and made sure that wake for network activity is on, but in the past I could be connected for hours with no problem.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Also, as I am transferring files from iMac to MacBook sometimes it even drops out half way.

    Thanks Guys and Gals

Your screenshot is blank and even clicking on it just brings up an error.. the site is having issues.. has done so since the latest Apple update.
Same with your Yosemite installed OS. It is bug farm. There are lots of issues and it is hard to get things working in a consistent way on the network.
Redo the setup of the TC.. starting with a factory reset.
Use only short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. eg TCgen5 for basestation name and TCwifi for wireless name.
Use pure alphanumeric passwords.. 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.
Then if you have issues.. try manually mounting the TC.
In finder. Use Go, Connect to Server from the top menu.
Type in AFP://TCgen5.local (use the actual name of the TC and local is the default domain).
If that doesn't work use the IP address. AFP://10.0.1.1 (that is the default IP in router mode.. you will need a fixed IP for this to be useful).
Save the password in your keychain.
Welcome to the bleeding edge. The problem with every new OS release now is the users are all now beta testers.. !
