Loosing external ip when returning home in all computers list

So I use ARD to connect to my headless G4 tower file server at home. Its running 10.4.8 as is my powerbook.
In ARD I have it listed twice one called "FileBox" the other called "FileBox Away"
int he All Computers list. FileBox is connected with internal IP when I am at home 192..*. and FileBox Away with external IP 66..*.and port forwarded in home router so I can connect to it at work.
When connected at work where I dont have access to forward ports but everything is fine. I know I cant use some features cuz its not "Available" due to those ports not being forward to my PB. but I only really use it to check up on things running at home so no biggie.
However at friends when I launched ARD and connected to FileBox Away it switched to "FileBox" and became "available" with the external IP. The one that I have listed as "Filebox Away" was still listed but ip reverted to o.o.o.o. When back home due it scanning FileBox reverted back to internal ip but FileBox Away was left at 0.0.0.0 making me have to edit its address back to the external so I could use it at work again. which obviously isnt that big a deal but it would be nicer not to have to do that. I am at the fiend alot cuz we are have been doing personal projects together.
Keep in mind I have not been forwarding ports at my friends house to my PB . They must just not have firewall on in thier router or they have UPnP running for whatever reason. I dont wanna mess with their routers if I can avoid it. I just want the computers to stay the way they are listed "FileBox Away" with external ip and "FileBox" with internal ip.

This is exactly how the fallback image is generated. So if you generate both you'll have two identical images. IMO the best solution in this case is to remove autodetect from the HOOKS in mkinitcpio.conf and only generate a default image.

I've started incorporating video tutorials by our Subject Matter Experts into my Online Help, produced in RoboHelp HTML.
The first day I tried it, of course it worked, no problem.
The second day I tried it, it started doing this:
Pressing either Yes or No on the dialog must be done several times before the dialog goes away, and returns one to the home page in my HTML help. This page is within our website and works fine in any other browser under conventional circumstances. Any ideas?

One thought here. What if you inserted an inline frame? Are you using RoboHelp 9? If so, click Insert > HTML > IFrame. Configure the Inline Frame with the URL of the topic.
If you don't have RoboHelp 9, type XXX where you want the frame to be. Then select the XXX and flip over to HTML view. Change the <p> and </P> so they instead read <iframe> and </iframe>. Then return to WYSIWYG view. From there, size the frame as desired and you may then double-click it to see a dialog to change other attributes.
Might be worth trying if you really want the thing to appear as a topic in the Topic pane.

Apple Remote Desktop - Users constantly appear and disappear in All Computers List

I have a problem and I am thinking it is probably some kind of broadcast error on my network, but why not question Apple Remote Desktop in the process? Computers seem to flicker from available to unavailable. I think they are actually on. If I send a task out while it shows availbe it does complete even though it flickers on and off throughout the package install. However it will not let me send out installs when it say unavailable (as expected). If I am lucky I can catch the systems when they show available and the installs work. I have deleted preferences and re-installed ARD. I am using 3.7
Personally I think it is my switches and Bonjour. Does anyone else have this issue and a work around?

I had the same problem. I administrate around 30 macs, which I undrestand isn't much.....I was having issues with ard after updating to mavericks. I decided to do a complete erase and reinstall on my machine. This was't because of ard, mind you. I was having all kinds of problems. Nothing unexpected as far as I'm concerned but after doing things, my ard problems went away. It's only been a day, but everything is working like a dream.

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That should switch the assocation of the device to the new library but it is not something I've personally tested.
When you get it all working, make a backup!

I have recently bought a white iPhone 4S on Tuesday, and it has been repeatedly loosing all connection and just suddenly switching off.
When this happens I am unable to turn the phone back on again without a power source plugged into it. When I try to remove the phone from the power source it goes completely dead again.
However, the most recent time this has happened (today), as soon as I returned home the phone had no problem starting up as normal when I pressed the power button.
The signal was working fine even though it says 'searching' in the left hand top corner of the screen. I am wondering if my WIFI at home is influencing the phone to work inside the household?
This is a problem that needs to be sorted out ASAP because the phone is not working the majority of the time when I need it to.
Please if you have any suggestions or know the cause of this problem inform me straight away.

Can anyone help me, I work on my mac air most days and would like certain folders to automatically update onto my iMac when i return home, is there a way of doing this? Many thanks.

Open a Finder window and you should have a folder called iClouDrive in your home folder. Drag your documents or folders you want to share into this folder and it will be available on your other computer (look in the same folder).
As already mentioned Dropbox is a good solution; however, I like to use my free 5 GB from Apple's iCloud because I am not using very much space there. I reserve my Dropbox for other uses such as family photo and recipe sharing.

I would try in oreder:
- Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

Try opening iTunes preferences. Then click on advanced tab. Then uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." By default, iTunes copies music to its own media folder when you use iTunes to play the music.

And it is only a problem if you want a blank first screen. Personally, it would drive me nuts always having to swipe over one page to get to my apps - the only time I unlock my iPhone is to use it or run an app, so no, I have no need nor desire to have a first screen with no icons at all.
But, if they'd put it in as an option so people like yourself can also have what they want, that's fine too So send them your feedback (they actually do listen - iOS 5 includes a number of things people have been asking for on these forums, like being able to delete individual entries from the call history, inproved alerts/notifications, being able to opt out of all the location based data they collect,...).

When I returned home I could not connect to my home router. The Ipad seeks the router number but nothing happens. I rebooted the Ipad a few times in the school. The numbers identifying the router, etc. on my Ipad no longer appear there.
TThe Ipad guide says to connect to the WiFi use setup but I can't find the setup program in the Ipad.
I reset the network settings to the factory defaults but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can I do to reconnect to my home router?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

JAAS requiring re-authentication when returning from external site.

Our Struts web application uses another application for some of its functionality. When the authenticated user clicks on the link, a cookie is set with some user info and the user is redirected to the external site. The user interacts with the external site and then the site redirects the user back to our site (to a previously unvisited, secure action). Unfortunately, the user is being prompted to authenticate again, even though they have already done so. The strange part is that this behaviour only exists the first time a new browser is opened (both IE and Mozilla). Subsequent visits to the site (after properly logging out, and logging back in) do not cause this problem. The other strange part is that when the user returns to the site and is prompted to authenticate, the login module that we are using logs a message that it is checking the user info against the allowed roles, and the user does, in fact, already exist.

Nevermind. This was a stupid mistake on my part. I was accessing the site from localhost but the external site was returning to the actual URL. My bad.
