Loosing Network on Peripherals

Hello,
I had a bad day, technology wise, and lost internet connection for most of the day. I am running a Mac Mini with Time Capsule connected to a cable modem for my Wi Fi. This has been just peachy and I got it back up with little stress this morning on my machine. I know it is working fine because I am connected to Skype and I can post this topic.
The problem seems to be with my Peripherals. Both my iPhone and iPad can see and connect to the network, but don't use it and they stay in 3G. My AppleTV can see my computer wirelessly and stream files from my computer, but can't see an outside network, no movie rentals or YouTube.
Can someone please help me sort this.
Thanks

This process isn't guaranteed to fix your problem, but will collect some information that might suggest the cause of what you're seeing: Use AirPort Utility on your mini to put the Time Capsule into "manual setup" mode. At the bottom on the window what do you see for "IP Address"? (If you're worried about security, feel free to obscure the last set of digits in that value, such as "66.249.183.xxx".)
In AirPort Utility what value do you see in the Internet panel, Internet Connection tab, "Connection Sharing" setting?
In AirPort Utility pull down the Base Station menu and select "Logs and Statistics". Select the "DHCP" tab. Do you see your iPhone, iPad, and AppleTV in the list? If you're not sure, compare the IP addresses you see there to those on your iOS devices in the General/Network area of the Settings app. In those iOS screens, do you see reasonable values for things like "DNS Servers"?

  • Mac Mini Late 2012 OS X 10.9.4 loosing network connectivity

I haven't found the exact issue on the forums nor outside it so I'm creating a new thread.
My Late 2012 Mini started loosing network connectivity after upgrading to 10.9.4, both WiFi and Ethernet.
Sometimes it takes around 5 minutes, sometimes more than 30 but the connectivity gets disrupted continuously, the packets stop going in or out for around 30 seconds. I've done PRAM and SMC resets, I've changed network locations, nothing helps and I've found nothing interesting in the system logs.
Also I can't login to the Apple bugtracker due to some error so I'm reporting it here.
The only USB devices i have connected are keyboard and mouse.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • OEL 5.6 after reboot looses network configuration

    I have a HP-DL980 with OEL 5.6 kernel 2.6.32-100.26.2.el5 #1 SMP Tue Jan 18 20:11:49 EST 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
It has 2x 10Gb NIC's and 4x 1Gb NICs, after a reboot the server looses network configuration and can't login or ping the server. NIC's were replaced and tested in another server and they work fiine, cabling re-checked works fine. I am able to reproduce it on a DL-585 as well with the same OEL version and kernel. I've tried to re-enable the NIC's and still no connectivity.
    Any thoughts, ideas?

I think you may be correct. The DL980 has a extension board where the NIC card is added. I don't have this issue on a DL585. If I remove the module from the kernel and reload it then it appears to work, only if the server reboots it doesn't recognize the cards at all and gives me the error messages above. I have opened a call with oracle, working on getting the files to them right now. thanks for the note on the bugzilla. I'll check it out. I posted info on the bug 680411 and got a response back that they do not have such a kernel and it is nont related. I am using the OEL5.6 with the unbreakable kernel.

  • Loose network connection after sleep

Everytime my macbook pro sleeps it looses network connections in my home and I have to go through re-establishing connection including network password

This seems to be a common issue on most Mac platforms lately.  I have 2 Macbook Pro's and 1 Air all experiencing this issue.  It only happens on hidden networks, at least in my case and most I have read.  I have yet to hear any official response from Apple but there must be at least 15 threads on this exact topic thoughout the forums.
Some people claim removing all the "Remembered" networks and re-add them fixes it.  I have noticed the only thing that seems to work is if I remove all networks and if I have a hidden network, it can be the only one listed. As soon as I add another saved network hidden or not, the problem comes back.
This is hard since most of the end users that use the macbooks on our hidden networks also use them at home.  So they naturally have multiple networks listed.  The odd thing is its not ALL of them.  We have a bunch of other Mac's that do not experience this issue.
I know this is not a solution but it is what I have found so far...

When i loose network in elevators-basments, after network is restored my phone is not reachable to anyone until unless i make it wakeup manually.
have tried restoring to factory setting but nothing works

On2CO,  I'm glad you have reached out to us today. Thank you so much for the very detail description on what is going on with the device. Sounds like there might be an issue with an application that might be causing these issues. The reason I say that is, when the phone is in Safe Mode you are able to access the Settings screens with no issues. While in Safe Mode that does block all 3rd party applications from running on the phone. I would suggest on trying to back up the device and perform a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6-182Vuo (you would want to make sure to uncheck Automatic Restore in step 3). Once the reset is complete try to see if you can get into Settings. Then, I would recommend on adding 3rd party applications back on to the device one by one to see if we can find what app might be causing this issue. • ATV looses network connection if PC reboots or iTunes closes and reopens.

ATV looses network connection upon iTunes closing (i.e computer turning off or going to sleep.) I'm then required to re-input the network password (p.i.t.a.) every time I come home from work, or the power surges, or iTunes closes, etc.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Lucy,
To address the suggestions you made:
There's too much code, performance needs to be
improved.  - Does anybody know of useful utilities to monitor cpu
performance as a sort of watch dog.
There is a software package called the Execution Trace Toolkit you can use to monitor the performance of your Real Time applications. If you have access to this software through a developer suite or a site license it would be worth installing that.
If not there are a number of other things you can try first.
The network or vi server is shutting down - Again, I'd appreciate some help on how to monitor this.
To determine if the problem is caused by the network you should connect to the cRIO with a cross over cable and see if you see the same behaviour. This will help determine if the problem is down to the network or the cRIO system.
Once you've isolated the source of the problem (ie the crio or the network) we can investigate the cause and hopefully come up with a resolution.
    Kind regards

  • XP mode looses network connectivity periodically on multiple Dell Optiplex Windows 7 Professional PCs.

XP mode looses connectivity periodically throughout the day on a daily basis but Windows 7 Pro host PC never looses connectivity.  Problem is at its worst when the XP mode has been running all day.  If XP mode is rebooted once daily, problem is
reduced but not gone.  Some days are better than others.  One day it will happen to one xp mode and not another.  Another day one xp mode will fail repeatedly while another works OK.  There is no rhythm to the failures.   Problem
began with the 1st XP Mode environment.
I can disable and enable the virtual NIC and regain connectivity.
The problem occurs during batch processing of DOS based payroll software using many open files and handles.  Software runs from XP Mode as shortcut to Mapped Server Drive letter.
    Environment is small.
    1 windows 2008 R2 Server as Domain/File server. Dell T420 Server
3 Windows 7 Pro with XP mode.  All XP Mode fail periodically.  All Dell PCs, one OptiPlex 3010, one OptiPlex 390, 1 Dell Dimension.
2 Windows XP Pro, OptiPlex 330. Real mode never looses connectivity.
    All drivers up to date.
    Router firmware up to date.
    Power management disabled.
I disabled the Servers Auto Disconnect.
XP mode Network settings using physical adapter, not NAT.
I've been reading forums and troubleshooting this for months.  I've tried everything except recreate the VHD.

#1 Do you have any supporting articles you can point me to?
#2 What do you mean by "Temperature"?  Physical heat?  The offices are kept at approx 75°.
#3  Will look at them again.  As I said, I've been troubleshooting this for quite a while.  I don't recall any Eventviewer errors related to this but I will check again.
    Thanks again for your input.

  • Apple TV looses network configuration

    Hi people;
I have configured my Apple TV and everything works fine. I accessed ITunes, photos etc...
When I put the AppleTV on a stand by mode it loose the network configuration every time.
Does somebody know how to save the network configuration in oder not to loose it?
    Thanks;
    Joaquim Santos Neto

It might not solve your problem but you could eliminate it as a possible cause by changing to a 5 letter password for 64/40 bit encryption or a 13 letter password for 128/104 bit encryption.

  • How do I Network Multiple Peripherals on a Airport Extreme?

I have a G4 PowerBook with AE card and an Airport Extreme/modem.
I presently have a laser printer connected to the AEBS's USB port and I want to connect at least two USB1 printers (the laser & an inkjet), and an USB1 scanner to the AEBS.
What do I need to do/get to make this all work?

Some things I have found out or verified:
    1) The AEBS only supports one USB device at a time, you have to plug and unplug each device each time.
    A) There are devices called print servers (Hard wired and WiFi) around $100 - $200. These are a so-called Back Box type of device that can connect to the AEBS' Ethernet or USB port(?), (I think some do both, some don't. Actually I haven't yet found any that connect to the AEBS' USB port, they're all Ethernet to AESB) and several USB printers. I was first told that regular scanners were not usable and one needs a network-scanner. This may or may not be true, I'm still researching this. * See Below:
If one has network printers, scanners, etc. then these devices are a reasonable choice. If one doesn't have at least a network scanner, then adding the price of a network scanner to replace a non-network scanner might make this path cost prohibitive.
    * A couple of interesting products from Keyspan are the 4-Port USB Print Server: <http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/ps4a/homepage.spml> And associated Fact Sheet PDF: <http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/ps4a/downloads/pdf/PS-4A_v1b.pdf> and the Keyspan USB Server: <http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/server/homepage.spml>. And associated Q&A PDF: <http://www.keyspan.com/downloads-files/us4a/docs/US4A_Q&A2bv2j.pdf> If anyone can find anything other than the Keyspan products that runs on OS X please post.
    B) The other path is to use a desktop acting as the server to "Share" the peripherals and then WiFi connecting a laptop to this network. If the peripherals and the AEBS are plugged into the desktop the you wouldn't necessarily need to buy a "Black Box".
This path requires you have the desktop on as well as the laptop, also a knowledge of securing a network that has as WiFi device on.
Costs and what you already own would dictate which path to take.
Having an AEBS and an Airport Express may offer even a third choice. I haven't researched that path
Again thanks to all, the info has if not been all positive has cleared up some misinformation I've had.

  • 9300 Keeps loosing Network and Restarting!

I just got a replacement for my old curve 9300 from blackberry (in which the internet wasn't working).
They gave me a new phone, and this phone keeps loosing the network service every few minutes. its comes as searching for network and then goes to no service. The Phone also Restarts randomly. Its running on OS6 Build 2475.
    Please Help

The restarting problem sounds bad.  You could test if removing the memory card has any effect, test the phone Offline mode, with a different SIM card, or with no SIM card.  If none of that has an effect, since you already updated the firmware, there isn't much left besides a hard reset ( *#7370#, default password 12345 ).  Obviously, back up all your data first (contacts, calendar, etc.).    If that still doesn't help, you will likely need to have the phone serviced.  Good luck!

  • NI MAX cannot see / looses network instrument

There appears to be a bug with NI MAX where a network instrument which was previously configured suddently dissappears and when we attempt to re-establish the instrument, MAX claims that it cannot find the instrument.
This was seen on 4 different stations, all sharing the similar behavior.  This was also seen at a completely different customer where the configuration was setup by a fourth person.  At client # 1 there are 4 stations.  They were setup by 3 different people using the same instructions.  Everything was fine on all 4 stations.  All of a sudden, the information dissappears from the network instrument list and it is not possible to re-configure the network instrument within MAX.  A similar behavior was reported by another client which is totally different than the first client.  NI MAX was configured by a different person than at client 1, possibly using different steps (although it is quite simple to setup a network device within NI MAX).
NI MAX at client #1 are versions 5.40f0 and 14.0.0a2.
NI MAX at client # 2 is version at least 14.0.0a2.
If we copy an exported settings file from another station, the network devices are restored and it is possible to use the network instrument.  However, if you attempt to setup the instrument manually, because MAX cannot find it automatically, it is not possible to validate the instrument and complete the setup.  Even if you cheat and complete the setup, the PC will not communicate with the instrument via VISA.  However, it is possible to communicate with the instrument outside NI MAX.  The instrument is seen by the PC and does respond to ping requests.
    See image below.
When trying to validate the instrument, NI MAX responds with the fact that it could not open a VISA session via TCPIP.
My first question is:  why does the instrument dissappear in the first place?
Rebooting the PC did not help.  Basic troubleshooting did not resolve the issue.  This is not the first time I work with NI MAX and with network instruments; however, this is the first time I see them dissappear fromNI MAX.
I did not find anything while searching for posts for similar issues, so I do not know if anyone else has seen this.  I did encounter a similar description for a bug that was supposidly fixed in MAX 5.4
Does anyone at NI have a clue at how to make NI MAX more solid with respect to network instruments?
    Thanks,
    RayR

    Hello AK2DM,
I was just north of you last week in Sedona.  Beautiful place.  Our next trip in your area will take us to Phoenix.  We'll have to get together.
There are no dependencies on any NI Services that I am aware of.  A customer just reported a similar issue at their Penang CM site.  They are now in a bit of a panic.  I did not work on the code at that site, but 3 sites, 2 customers reporting the same issue???  That's not a coincidence.  Something is wrong with MAX.  The only way to recover is to import the configuration file within NI MAX.  It was impossible to simply scan for the instrument to get MAX to communicate with the instrument, although the PC, that has NI MAX installed, is able to ping the instrument.
I may have seen a similar issue a few years ago with another client where we kept loosing the network communication, but gave up and switched to GPIB.  At the time, we thought the network switches were causing issues and blamed it on the network.  Today, I may think otherwise...  I do not know what to investigate to verify why this is occurring.  Strangely enough, these systems ran for a year before we started seeing the symptoms.  I thought windoze upgrades was turned off...  It may be related to some recent upgrade, because we only started seeing these unusual behaviors since November (?).   I can't remember exactly when we first saw it. Late fall / early winter??
It is strange that you started seeing an odd behavior around the same time.  Running windoze, right?  I never liked windoze...  Everyone should move to Linux/Unix/Solaris.  LOL!

But the next day I try to print to it and it is offline. simply shutting down and powering back on will fix it.
That's a pain can some tell me what is going on?

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Unfortunately, setting the address in the DHCP server does not tell the printer not to use DHCP.  Try setting the exact same reserved address in the printer itself.  Setting a static IP address in the printer resolves most networking issues with printers.
You can use step 6 of this document from HP if you need to know how to set a static IP address on this printer.

  • ATV looses network settings

I have a problem with my ATV. I normally switch the ATV off (I pull out the power cord), when I'm not at home.
After having downloaded a new version oof the ATV version, the ATV looses the network settings and the password after the restart, so I have to reenter always when I turn it on again.
Does anybody know how I can prevent entering all settings again after every restart?
    Thanks and regards,
    Seb

For better or for worse, the ATV wasn't designed to be powered off so frequently. I would recommend keeping it plugged in and only pull the plug on it when it needs a hard reset to clear problems that can't be cleared by less disruptive means.
