Loosing page setup going from V10 to CS3.

When I try to open pages created in Illustrator 10 into CS3 they not only loose their page size and orientation but the page set up dialog box is not even available to change it. I have tried restarting both the printer, re-selecting the printer.
It's a HP 2500n color laser with the latest driver software.
Thanks.

When you have a dhcp address, use ifconfig to identify the address, broadcast address, and subnet mask, and use route to identify your default gateway. All these should be added to the rc.conf NETWORKING section - an example is provided. Make a note of the nameserver address that was automatically added to /etc/resolv.conf under dhcp - it should remain there.
Before you do all that, you may have the option of using a dhcp fixed lease instead i.e. continue to use dhcp, but configure it to provide the same address to your arch box every time. That would depend on the capabilities of the system that provides the dhcp service.

  • Going from CS4 to CS3

    Greetings,
Once you've created a composition in a CS4 version of a program such as After Effects, are you able to open the comp in the CS3 version?
I know this problem arises with Adobe Audition when going from Audition 3 to any prior version, and I'm looking to go back to CS3 from CS4 (far too many bugs and I'm finding it far too unstable)
    Thanks,
    Sarah

You can copy keyframes manually if you have both versions installed on the same computer:

  • Switching Page Setup window from Metric to Imperial

    Hi,
Might anyone know how to change the metric measurements (cm) to imperial ones (inch) -seen below the Paper Size dropdown menu- in the Page Setup dialog box of any given program?
I've tried everything I can think of, including switching keyboard layouts and Time Zone setting to make the computer think I live somewhere other than Canada, but nothing will make a US Letter sized paged show as "8.5 in x 11 in".
    Thanks!

    OS 10.4.3

Go to International Preferences in System Preferences and switch to the Formats panel. There is a drop down menu at the bottom called "Measurement Units" - that should do it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Going from LR2 to CS3 editing

    Hi.
I can't seem to find any logic in the following: sometimes, when I want to go from Lightroom to Photoshop/CS3 for further editing, I'm being asked if I want to work on the original or on a copy. Sometimes I'm not. Most of the time I DO want to work on a copy, but I'm not promted to begin with. Why is this so?
    rgds,

If you are working on a TIFF, PSD or JPEG, you get the dlog to allow you to decide what option you want. If you open raw files, you DON'T get the dlog because since the raw file is considered a read only file, all you CAN to is open a copy.

  • How to set Page Setup default from letter (8.5 x 11) to legal (8.5 x 14)

    Hi,
when I open a pdf document in Adobe Reader and go to print it defaults to 8.5 x 11 (Letter). Is there away to set the default to 8.5 x 14(Legal). I can change it manually by clicking page layout or printer properties but I have to do this everytime I print. Not sure if this has to be done on the creating of the document side.
    Thank you,

Yes, it's then when the page size is specified.

  • CS3 page setup: in print dialog box???

I am confused about the page setup in CS3. Coming from Illustr. 10 if I started a drawing in landscape mode and wanted to change into portrait mode I had to change the document and page setup boxes. Now in CS3 there is only a document setup, the page setup is in the print dialog box. Can someone share some light on this?
    Thanks.
    Ulrich

I think the process is now as it always should have been. It was crazy always having to go to two different dialog boxes just to change one setting. The thinking here is that Illustrator is now smart enough to know to automatically adjust the Page Setup settings for you -- if you rotate the document from Landscape to Portrait for example, AI should be able to figure out on its own that you want it to print that was as well.
The main point here is that Page Setup options aren't needed much anymore -- most of the options are handled directly within Illustrator's Print dialog (and can hence be saved in Print Presets, etc).

  • Page Setup / Printing in Adobe Acrobat and Reader

Does anyone know why Adobe Acrobat and Reader don't retain page setup information from one document to the next? I constantly have to switch between two different paper sizes in page setup, because the information isn't retained by the individual documents.

I would suggest creating a second instance of the printer in Windows with tray 2 as the default tray - select that printer from Acrobat.

Control Panel > Printers > Printer Properties

  • Why is there a separate menu item for "Page setup" when there is already a tab for it in the "Print..." menu?

I just can't see the point of having the same options in two places! The "Page Setup" tab from the "Print..." menu item has more options, relating to printer features, whereas the "Page Setup" dialogue box is basic and looks to me to be a little 'shoddy'. I'd have thought it would be a good idea to have the 'better' set of features available, but from it's own menu item, rather than a tab. And no duplicated controls!!

Firefox on Windows doesn't have Page Setup in the Print dialog, it is in the Print Preview window.
That isn't the only menu item that appears in multiple places. '''View Page Info''' is in the Tools menu (on Windows) and in the Contextual menu. '''Bookmark this Page''' is in the Bookmarks menu and the Contextual menu, along with the Tab Context menu.

  • Upgrading from cs1 to cs3

Hi, I'm currently using cs1 on my imac (running Tiger). Should I upgrade to cs2 then to cs3 or do I have to buy the full version of cs3? If so, will I have problems opening files going from cs1 to cs3?? I'm confused! Thanks!

    Dov,
When upgrading from CS to CS3, I would like to add the Web editing tools. Which upgrade package is best to get? I especially need Flash & Dreamweaver. I noticed that there is no InDesign in that package. I do print and Web design so I need it all.
    Thanks,

  • Lost reverse page orientation in page setup in CS2 going from 10.4 to 10.5

I do a lot of hi quality printing for CDs & DVDs using Photoshop CS2. With OS 10.4.11 in page setup from the file menu, I had three icons (for landscape, portrait, and reverse portrait). Now with 10.5.8 - I have only two.
Some programs like Preview have a box to check for "reverse page orientation" in the "page setup" menu or in the print submenu for "layout", but not CS2. (Preview prints to fill the page not to accurate size)
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a secret way to bring up the reverse page orientation option that I just haven't discovered?
This really messes me up for precise double sided printing - and it makes me wish I'd stuck with 10.4.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

See my new question (July 2011) and replies re this matter.
BDAqua came up with the answer, which is to save a reverse version in Photoshop of the images to be printed reverse, and then those images directly in the usual portrait setup in the printing dialogue. This way, I won't be dependent on having a reverse image orientation option in the printer setup. (lost for Photoshop CS2 in OS 10.5)
Again - I appreciate the help.

  • When opening a word doc in pages i am loosing the graphic images from powerpoint that were embedded in the word doc

When opening a word doc in pages i am loosing the graphic images from powerpoint that were embedded in the word doc

Are the images placed in a table? Many Word user have the habit of doing that. Tables are not handles the same way in Word and Pages so they get "hidden" in Pages. One way to find this out is to change the size of the paper of the document. You do that in the Page setup in the file menu. Create a document that is much longer that the default one and see if you images will pp up.

  • Page Setup Issue with InDesign CS3 and Xerox DC240 w/ external Fiery

    Running on OS 10.4.11
Printing to Xerox DC2400 w/ External Fiery (driver v1.1 v3016.102)
    Application InDesign CS3 v. 5.0.2
When I send a document in CS3 to print, I have to constantly go to the page setup and select the proper paper size and orientation in order to print properly. In CS2, I was able to set all this by simply going to the Setup window and designating my paper size and orientation there. Does anyone have the same or similar issue? Were you able to resolve it? All suggestions are welcomed. I have contacted Xerox and they say that this is not an issue with their driver, they say that this is an application level issue!!
    Thank you.

I think I may have figured it out by trial and error. In the Pages palette, there's an option in the pulldown called "Panel Options". I set both sizes to "Small" and turned off "Thumbnails". Seems to have worked - knock wood. Presumably when thumbnails is turned on, InDesign is updating the contents of the document AND the pages palette thumbnail simultaneously. Anyway, that seems to have fixed it. Just wanted to post this solution FYI for anyone else who may be having this problem.

FYI, this is a user-user help forum, and while some Adobe personnel drop by here occasionally, you may have better luck contacting Adobe support directly.
Perhaps another XP user in a domain environment will see this message (now freshly bumped to the top courtesy moi) and let you know whether they see similar issues.
I have heard that with Photoshop CS5 a fundamentally different printing interface is being used by the application, and this has yielded a whole host of new printing problems, from color management issues to multiple copy settings not being honored until the second attempt to print.  I don't know how much of this applies to XP though.

  • IE9 Page Setup Not Pulling from LaserJet P1102 Preferences

I am running IE9 on Windows 7 Home Premium with a LaserJet P1102 printer attached.  Software and drivers are all current.  I also have an Epson SX218 and Adobe Distiller 8 installed as printers.
When the Epson printer is set as the default, any changes I make to the printing preferences of that printer appear in the IE9 Page Setup, including the paper size -- especially the paper size (we use A4 paper here, not Letter), and orientation.
The same is true for Adobe 8 PDF and Adobe 8 PDF Converter -- preferences pass right through to IE9 Page Setup when either are set as the default.
When the HP LaserJet P1102 is set as the default, IE9 defaults to "Letter" and "Portait".
I have tried every possible configuration -- removing all printers, reinstalling just one, reinstalling all, reinstalling in a different order, changing the defaults, changing the preferences, warm booting, cold booting, different computers, and even additional printers from Canon and Epson -- and the results are always the same.
There is something about the HP LaserJet P1102 drivers -- and possibly other drivers -- that is not updating the registry correctly for IE9 to read it and it is therefore falling back to some sort of defaults (which I can't find, either).
It is very annoying that even when I have the HP LaserJet P1102 set as the default and the printing preferences set to A4, I still have to go into IE9 Page Setup and change the paper size to A4 in order to get the output to print correctly.
As a note, I believe the same problem may exist with Word 2007 -- it only prints correctly to A4 when the Epson printer is either the destination or the default.  If the P1102 is the default and A4 is the preference AND I print to it from an A4 document to A4 paper, it is automatically shrunk down as if to be fitting on Letter-sized paper.  If I set the Epson as the default with A4 paper as the preference and then select the P1102 as the destination with A4 paper, everything prints fine.
I would leave the Epson as the default with A4 as the preferred paper -- which would solve the problem, only we use the Epson for printing on Letter-size labels sheets and don't want to have to constantly change the print settings.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can correct this problem with the HP driver so that printing preferences from the P1102 will properly populate page setup in IE9 (and possibly Word 2007)?

Tom, when you are printing are you setting the printing preferences to match what you are wanting the printer to do? This would be done through Devices and Printers by right clicking on the printer and changing the defaults through Printing Preferences.
Beyond this, if you have already set this up beforehand, the browser you are using might not be correctly interpreting the information and may be sending band data to your machine. I would recommend "uninstalling" IE9 which will replace it with IE8 which has better compatibility with devices and programs.
Let me know! And happy New Year!
