Loosing pictures in Photoshop Elements

After scanning slide pictures from my Epson Perfection 3170 Photo into Photoshop Elements 4.01, I would do some corrections to the picture and then choose done. After doing this my picture just goes away, to where, I don't know. I have reloaded Photoshop Elements and the problem is still their. I have looked into my I-Photo program and it's not their. So I don't know were it goes or how to fix my problem.

Edit: deleted response.
Try looking in the location you have assigned for the Epson 3170 to save images. Never have used the scanner import option...I just scan and have it saved on my desktop. Anyway, the save location on the Epson 3170 is sticky so I'd open that dialog and see where the save location is. If you're lucky, your edits will be in that location.

finally getting back to this project---adobe starter edition 3.2 is on a windows XP computer
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12 is on our Windows 8.1 computer.
error messages--- had to give up trying to convert---I copied all our pictures to our windows 7 laptop and I installed adobe photoshop elements 12 (my bought program)
I wanted to try to convert there first. also I copied our catalog to this computer also. Everything was working fine I could see the collections just as they where on the XP computer.
then I tried to convert on the laptop. I believe the error said something about corrupt file, so I gave up that day. Next day I tried to open ADOBE STARTER EDITION 3.2  and it wanted an unlock code, no such code exists. and my copy of Elements 12 turned into a trial version which has expired. So I am a little hesitant to try to convert on the XP  computer and mess up the existing catalog,
unless there is a fool proof way. I have tried manually making collections/ albums on Windows 8.1 and PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12  and coping pictures into the new albums. sloooow!!
I probably have about 4500 pictures and 150 collections/ albums to go. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

After opening a picture in Photoshop Elements 12, how can I copy this picture to a word processor document?

Open the photo. Press ctrl+A (command+A on a mac) to select it, then Ctrl+C (command+C) to copy it. Go to your word processing document and press Ctrl+V (command+V) to paste it in. (Note that for the last step the procedure may vary slightly depending on your word processor.)

  • How are pictures in Photoshop elements 9 linked to program?

I have 40,00 plus pictures shown in my elements program and since I bought and loaded Photoshop elements 9 (I previously had versions 3,4,5,6,7,8), I get the notice "searching for missing files" and can't use the program software for photo processing. I downloaded all my pictures from Windows 7 pictures on my computer and uninstalled Photoshop Elements 9 from my computer..
When I reinstalled PE 9, my pictures were there even though I had eliminated them (I thought) from my hard drive and the problem of "searching for muissing file" still existed.
How are my pictures attached to PE 9 and how do I eliminate that link and start all over with PE 9?
    Need help

Ohboy 108Thanks for your suggestions and interest.I downloaded all my pictures to an external hard drive, cleared out my internal hard drive photos and now use my external hard drive as the storage and source. No problem with "Elements" constantly looking for lost files.

My guess is that you have solved the problem but if continues maybe this will help. I had a similar problem where pictures kept showing up in Organizer even though I had deleted the catalog and rebuilt it and even uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 9.  I solved it by checking under edit-preferences-files and making sure that the save location was correct.  I also changed the catalog location from the default.  I suspect that there was a registry entry pointing to the old file and/or catalog location.

  • How can I save a picture in Photoshop Elements that was emailed to me using Photoshop Elements?

How can I save a picture in Photoshop Elements that was emailed to me using Photoshop Elements?

Save the attachment in a folder.
    From the Organizer menu choose:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
Navigate to your image and click Open.
If the photo is embedded, make a copy or screen grab and then whilst it’s still held in memory open the Elements Editor.
    From the menu click:
File >> New >> Image from clipboard
Then use File >> Save As
    Then choose jpeg.

  • How do I send a picture using photoshop elements 12?

How do I send pictures using photoshop elements 12?  I am using windows live messenger.  When I attach an adobe picture it will not send it.  It tells me it has to send it in parts.  I have never that problem until I started using the adobe 12.

Work on a duplicate of your picture so that you will retain the unaltered original.
In full Editor, expert tab, go to File>save for web. In the dialog that comes up, GIF is the default; change that to JPEG. Under "Image  size" >new size, make the longest side 800 px. Be sure that "constrain proportions" is checked. Apply. Save this as JPEG and try sending it to yourself as a test.

  • When I download a jpg picture to Photoshop Elements Editor the file is stored in Documents & Settings/My Name/Local Settings/Temp but I cannot find this location on my computer.

The pictures are attached to e-mail messages. I can get as far as Documents and Settings and my name but there is no Local Settings folder shown. Using MS search with the name of the file gives nothing. I use Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox. The file appears in Photoshop Elements and I can save it as a psd file but I cannot find either the jpg or the psd files to move them into My Pictures.

The Local Settings folder is a hidden folder.
    (1) If the file appears in the Downloads manager (Tools menu or Ctrl+j), you can right-click it and use Open Containing Folder to get directly to it.
    (2) To be able to see hidden folders on Windows XP in general, try this:
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer
Tools > Folder Options > View tab
Scroll down and look for the checkbox regarding hidden files and folders and unhide them.
Hopefully this will resolve the issue. Any luck?
    (3) By the way, you may be able to save the images from the email message to a more convenient location by right-clicking the links and using Save Link As. (Before you open them for editing.)

  • How do you size a picture in Photoshop Element 11

How do you size picture's to be sent in a email? On the old version I could figure it out be now on this version I can find where to do this. Also how do you make a collogues in Photoshop Elements 11
Thank you for your help, Jack Frowein

if you are saving your image as jpeg and really dont care much about the pixel dimension and just worry about the file size, I think using lower jpeg compression ratio is a better option.  For example: if i want my image to have really small file size, I would simply use a lower jpeg quality(probably Medium or low) while saving the file.
Another easy solution would be to use Save for web, which shows you enough save options to precisely control your file size and dimension

  • Populating My Pictures for Photoshop Elements

Having just purchased a new computer and a copy of Photoshop Elements 4.0, I'm interested in putting photos on the computer and into Elements in as efficient and clutter-free manner as possible.
Here is the issue. I have about 1,000 photos sorted now in Windows folders of my own design and not well organized. I have many photo files in multiple folders and the folders I have are not that informative; also I have not kept track well of files in their original form and the edited version of them, sometimes placing the latter in its own folder. In short, it's a mess. One of the reason I purchased Elements (though not the main one) is to rationalize my filing and I've seen the posts here on how to tackle that. My question though is whether it makes sense to try and clean things up in populating the Windows "My Pictures" folder before getting to work with Elements.
Specifically, is there any advantage in loading the files themselves, duplicates and all, into "My Pictures" without the folders they are now in, so all the files will simply reside undifferentiated in "My Pictures" (and available to search in Windows alone, if need be, by creation date)? Or is this a wasted exercise because Elements will read right through the folders when I begin to work on the hierarchy in Elements? Put another way, is there any harm in leaving the files in their confusing (but not entirely useless) folders?
    Thanks.

    Lobalobo,
You ask:"wondered whether, though, it mattered at all what folders the files actually resided in?"
The picture files can be in various locations. I have some files in My Pictures, others are in My Documents>Digital Pictures, and there I have several sub categories. This is a legacy of an old filing system which I employed prior to purchase of Elements. I have brought these in to the organizer in one catalog and tagged them appropriately. Now the cross-index, if you will, permits me, for example, to click on the Kenneth tag in order to find pictures in which I appear.
You have a new computer, the most recent version of Elements, 1000 photos in various locations with some duplicates. I suggest that you clean house prior to bringing all of them in to the organizer in order to preclude "confusing" the organizer. There have been several posts recently alluding to a corrupt data base requiring use of Microsoft Access for a remedy.

  • I've encountered saving photo that turnout as a blank file with no picture on Photoshop Elements 9.

I have encountered saving my photos that turnout as blank files with no pictures after some manupilation on Photoshop Elements 9.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the program but still facing the same blank files. Any advice of how to rectify the problem. Thanks.

Are you renaming these files when you save? Are you using a character like a dot or slash in the name (my.photo.jpg, for instance)?

  • How do I find my pictures on Photoshop Elements 3.0?

I have been using Photoshop Elements 3.0 for many years. Today I attempted to
restore pictures from several discs. When finished I tried to view my photos and
got this message:    The calalog named "My Catalog" could not be found. Please open
    or create a different catalog.
When I click on "OK" I get this message:  No catalog found in current directory. Click New
to create a new catalog. Open to open a catalog from a different folder or Exit to close
    the application.
How do I find my pictures?

Message is about your catalog and not about photographs.
Photographs should be in their respective folders unless, you have moved them in the past....
Now how to locate your Catalog?
Search for "My Catalog" folder and when you find it, check its new location.
Launch Organizer, it will show a dialog to selet the catalog. Go to the location where "My Catalog" is and open it... Now if all the photographs are not-moved, you would be able to access. Otherwise start Reconnect missing files which hels us locating files which are moved to other locations and Organizer catalog is not aware...
Please get back in case you have some specific questions about the same...

  • I am trying to import pictures from Photoshop Elements 4 to Elements 12

I just got a new computer and am trying to move my pictures stored in Photoshop Elements 4 to the new Photoshop Elements 12, but am stuck on how to do this as seamlessly as possible.
    Can anyone assist?

I would install PSE12 on the old computer, convert the old PSE 4 catalog to a PSE 12 catalog, and then move everything using these directions

  • How to move pictures from Photoshop Elements 3 to 12

I recently got a new computer.  On the old one I had Photoshop Elements 3.0; on the new one I have PE 12.  Using Adobe's "Chat" line I asked this question and they told me it couldn't be done - I was SOL.  I can't believe there isn't some way to move these pictures to the new program.  Has anyone had any experience with this?  Is there some workaround available to allow me to move my pictures between these two versions?
I am very disappointed with the poor support from Adobe.

    Hatstead-
Thank you for your reply.  The link you provided was helpful but while it addresses catalog conversions, it doesn't specifically address moving pictures between two different computers.  I'm still in mystery as to exactly what I should copy from my old computer and where I should paste it in my new computer.  This is a complicated process and I'm afraid I'm going to start it, make a mistake and wind up in even more of a pickle.
And by the way, I'm still incredulous that Adobe is so unsupportive in this matter.  Their tech told me it was not possible to move my pictures from PSE3 to PSE12; which is apparently not true.  I think Adobe's customers deserve better treatment.

  • How do I remove a picture from Photoshop Elements 9 editor?

I can't remove a picture from the Photoshop Elements 9 editor.  I am using an imac with the Lion operating system.  I have tried to close the picture, but everytime I open the editor from iphoto to do more advanced editing than is possible in iphoto the picture is still there.  Can anyone help with this BIG PROBLEM?  Please response directly to my e-mail.  Thank you.

This is a quirk with the Elements editor and lion's feature for reopening saved windows. If you go to system prefs>general and turn off Restore Windows when quitting and reopening apps it will stop happening. See this thread for more:
