LOOSING pictures with Album starter edition 3.2 !?

Any help possible??
I am using Album Starter Edition 3.2 (with Vista Home Premium) for more than a year in the current configuration, for 4 years altogether. I recently added photos from several new sources (second camera, and other people's photo-CDs) and since 2 days photos can only be displayed as thumbnails, when displayed as single photo a window opens and says "searching for missing file", when this is cancelled a "broken photo" sign appears in the thumbnail.
What happened? What can I do?
Sincerely
Peter Kaserer

Dear Laura, I just solved -my- problem, and I hope this will help you too:
A few days ago I transferred the complete "Pictures" file to the desk top for better accessibility. This file was then not listed in the box any more that appears when you click "Search" so maybe you also changed the path to the photo file and can restore it that way.
Good luck, and a Happy New Year!
Peter
P.S.: What an interesting name -Jacobus!

  • Album Starter Edition 3.0  has my pictures locked

First time poster, new to on-line photos.  Recently we recieved blakcberry phones at work.  My pictures that I have been storing and backing up go automatically into Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0   I have been doing this for a about 6 months without ever trying to do anything with them.  Recently, I tried to access them to no avail.  Adobe ask that I register with them.  After doing so I recieve an email stating the following:
The starter edition is discontinued deadline to register is passed. Go to photoshop.com to upgrade etc. etc.
So, I went to photoshop.com downloaded the new version and still cannot access my pictures as they are locked and I need the key to retrieve these pictures.
What can I do to retrieve these pictures, they are of my son growing the past 6 months, and I will be heartbroken without the retrival of these.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
PS> I am running windows XP and the pictures are being loaded from my blackberry.  The phone doesn't have that much storage and the pictures stored in the 3.0 edition are locked and the only copies I have.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 with AOL desktop (AOL 10)

I have fully patched XP SP2
AOL 10 as default email client
Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, registered and unlocked.
When setting pref for email client within Adobe PSE, AOL is not listed as an email option. I have reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, and unlocked, reinstalled AOL 10 (desktop) and reset it as the default email client. The default is working, as mailto: links in browsers open up AOL Desktop, and the email app listed at the top of the <START> button is AOL. How can I set it as an email client in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2? Is there some registry hack? Interference with another app?

Re 3.2 Photoshop. After I had some repair done to my computer, the photos in my album have the restricted little red square at the bottom of each photo. When I try to open the photo to fix or print a message box comes on that nothing can be done because of overide problem. In fact it closes the photoshop immediately because of this error. Is there anything I can do? - if I search the Browse button I get absolutely no connection or a march. This is most frustrating. I tried calling tech assistance, they could not help me infact hung up on me. What sort of helpfull assistance is that? Should there be any helpfull suggestions, other than uninstalling (Have done that) and reinstalling (done that) nothing seems to work. I cannot even copy those photos to a disk, the photoshop closes down immediately. Help. Donna

    Hi Anita,
For XP you do NOT need to upgrade. I would recommend uninstalling the
application, redownloading a fresh package and reinstalling. Remember to
put in your email address when you get the package so that Adobe sends
    you a unlock code.
I think what you have run into is a minor problem with a file becoming
corrupted. The problem is, it is easier to just reinstall than to try to
    figure out which file.
Your images will be fine as your catalog does not change.
    Cheers

  • Storing Notes with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3

I am new to Photoshop Album Starter Edition and was working with it yesterday to catalog some old family photos that I had scanned. When I was cataloging the photos, I added a caption and notes for each photo under the properties tab. When I burned the photo files to a CD and loaded the CD to another computer using Photoshop Starter Edition 3, I able to see the caption under properties but there was nothing in the Notes field. I'd like to use the notes field to store comments about the photo and then be able to burn the CD to share with other family members. Is there a way to burn the photos to a CD and be able to see the Notes information?

Using PSA 3.0 does this also mean that if I move an image to a new directory it loses the notes information and similarly should I rename the file will it will also lose the notes detail but not the caption. I understand why this is, if it is so - ah but here comes the question, "Is there any way to print out the notes detail by images etc to a file or to the printer should the need arise to reuse the information. Say I scan images to a laptop and record "notes information" using PSA 3.0 - how do I get that "notes" information to my desktop should I transfer the photos & use PSA 3.0 there - any help or advice would be most appreciated - are there other Adobe products that address this

  • Will Photoshop Album Starter Edition support taskbar with "auto-hide" on?

I am using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 on my Windows 2000 computer, and I have a problem with my taskbar not popping up. I have the "auto-hide" selection on for the taskbar, so it stays out of my way when I am working in applications. However, I have to hit the "windows" key if I want to switch from Photoshop to another app.
I looked through the support site and found the article that Album 2.0.1 fixes this bug for Windows XP. However, the problem still exists with Album 3.0 and Windows 2000. Will this bug get a fix soon?

You may already be aware of this but you can shift to another open application by pressing the Alt key and the tab key together. While Holding down the Alt Key, press the tab key. You will see a small window with the application name in it. When you press tab repeatedly, the application name will keep on changing in the window. When you let go of the keys, the application whose name is in the window will be activated.

  • Migration of Photoshop Album Starter Edition 2.0 to new PC ?

With 12.000 pictures classified and carefully  tagged in Photoshop Album starter 2.0 on a PC running Windows Xp, I'm now migrating to a new PC running Windows7.
Installing the software and all pictures was easy, but there are no tag anymore !!
To keep those tags ( a lot of days of work ), would it be effective to upgrade on my old PC to Photoshop Elements, and after, migrate on the new one Photoshop Elements ? Is it safe to upgrade to Elements ( won't I loose, not my pictures, but my tags ) ? Will Elements create files with the tags, so I can easily copy and migrtae those ?
    Many thanks for help

    Thank you Mark ,
This is a very quick and complete answer and I was lucky enough to be able to download the needed software.
Unfortunately, when I tried to upgrade Phtoshop Album Starter Edition 2.0 to 3.2, it says that the tags will be kept ( saved ), but when opening 3.2, all pictures are there, but no tag at all ....
Is there anything else ( or more ) I could try to recover those tags ?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition  vs.  Picasa?

    Hi everyone..
I have just installed Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 and I'm wondering about a few things. Bear with me here...
    1. I use Piccasa strictly as a picture-viewer program. I'm not 100% happy with it, could anybody pursuade me and my curious friend, why I should switch to Album Starter? I would like that.
    2. What I DO like about Piccasa is that it just view my pictures and do not copy them into a special piccasa-format. I have several file-formats in my picture-folder and I would like Album Starter to view all of them without changing the original location of the file, nor copy it, taking up a lot of disk-space.
    3. Another thing I like about Picasa is that if I have changed, added or removed a picture in the original file-location it updates those changes when I launch the program.
    4. I understand that there are several ways to view your photos. But can you also view and navigate your pictures through folders while you are in Album Starter? Because thats one thing I hate about Picasa, it just place all my folders on the side of the page, meaning it takes them out of their original folder and destroys the dept-folder-system I have made.
    5. Does Album Starter have a nice search function?
If anyone could take the time to answer these very bad formulated questions, I would be very grateful.
    - C.C.

    1) PSA SE has better organizing tools [tags/collections] than Picassa. There is also a clear growth path if you want something more powerful [Photoshop Elements Organizer is compatible].
    2) With PSA SE you keep your image files anywhere you want.
    3) PSA SE has limitations in this area. You are encouraged to move files about from within the program.
    4) I'm not sure that you'd prefer PSA SE in this respect. You are really encouraged not to think in terms of folders, as that is not a way to organize a large collection of images [say much more than 100].
    5) It has various ways to search - what are you after? Using tagging intelligently means you very rarely need to search. [I have use this technology for 3 years and only used Search a handful of time.]

It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files. The thumbnails, as well as any tags, and Albums that you create in Starter Edition are all stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file, separate from your pictures, and your pictures remain where you originally copied them to your computer.
If you use Photoshop Album to subsequently download files from a digital camera or scanner, the default location where the program will create those files would be in the My Pictures>Digital Camera Photos folder. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.
The thumbnails in the Starter Edition catalog will exist, even if you decide to move or delete the original photos that were added to the program. This will cause files in the Photoshop Album catalog to become 'disconnected' from the original photos. To reconnect the files, you can use the File>Reconnect Missing files command to see if the program can locate the original files in a new location, and once again re-link the catalog thumbnails to the files they once referenced.
Since Photoshop Album has been discontinued, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution. One alternative that will preserve most of what you've created in Starter Edition is the Photoshop Elements 8 trial. Install that, and it will automatically convert the Photoshop Album catalog to a current format, and the program will not time out, as Starter Edition did. If you want to purchase more Editing power, you can also choose to purchase the full program, but it's not required.
If you are like many who have come to this forum wondering how you can get to your photos, now that the program has become locked or expired, don't worry; your photos have never been moved by Photoshop Album; they remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive. To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. Here is a handy How-To that you could refer to to find photos on your system, as well as some other tips for how you can use folders to keep your photos organized: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/filemgmt.mspx
    Hope those tips help!

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 error c0000005

When I try to get pictures from my iphone via Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, it has to close with error C0000005.
I'm disappointed that I have to use 3rd party software to get photos on and off my iphone. I thought Apple made products that were easy to use. Just seems like the same crap from a different manufacturer (can you tell I'm frustrated?). Not to mention all the limitations with the iphone if you actually want to use it for business ....

You don't need to use 3rd party software - iPhoto will do it automatically once you set it up.
Connected your iPhone to your computer. iTunes then opens up. Select your iPhone under Devices, in the left column. Then click the Photos tab in the main window. Check the box that says, "Sync photos from:" Then, iPhoto will open every time you sync. You'll have the option to import the Photos from your phone and you'll be able to chose if the original stays on your phone or is deleted.

  • Album Starter Edition 3.0 VS Photoshop Element 5.0

Photoshop Element 5.0 on a 30 day trail and I also downloaded Adobe Album Starter Edition 3.0. I did this to see what the difference was between them as I am going to go to an update verizon with Adobe that's like my PhotoDeluxe 4.0. I use PhotoDeluxe 4.0 mostly for editing and printing pictures. What I liked about PhotoDeluxe was the I could print different pictures oh one sheet. I don't know if the other two new programs do this. ( I am sure they do it just I haven't had time to research them.) I would be open to any suggestion or comments about which programs would best suit my needs.
    Thank You
    Jim Lawless @ [email protected]

PSA SE has almost no editing capabilities.
PSE can do everything that PSA SE can do and lots else besides.
Both programs can print multiple pics on a sheet.

  • Album Starter Edition 3.2

I used to have pictures stored in the MY CATALOG section of the Photoshop Album. Recently my Dell Dimension 3000 (Windows XP Homne edition) was acting up awfully and I had a clean reinstall done from the installation disc. Unfortunately, my Photoshop album Starter edition 3.2 had not been saved when the backup was done. When I now go to Photoshop.com and sign in, there's nothing in MY LIBRARY or in ALBUMS.
Is there a way to retrieve the pictures at all?  Thanks a bunch for advice.

    Ian,
Try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Something obviously went wrong
    with the upgrade.
    Cheers

  • Get photos from Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2

We have some images stored in Photoshop Album Starter edition 3.2. When we now try to open the photos, we are told to register us for an unlocking code, which we never get. I have also tried to call Adobe support, but they could not help us with this because this program does not longer exists. And then support told us to go to this forum for further assistance. Anyone here who know how we can get access to our photos again?

If you are on a Mac, try using File Juicer:
It will extract any and all images from any type of file.
    http://echoone.com/filejuicer/
    With File Juicer you can:
Extract images from a PowerPoint slide show or presentation.
Extract images and text from PDF files.
Recover images and video from erased flash cards
    Recover text from damaged files
Extract the images and HTML files in Safari's cache.
    Extract attachments from email archives.
Rebuild simple PDF files into Word documents
Convert iPhoto's iPod cache files and ithmb files to TIFF.
Recover photos from your iPod if you have lost your Mac.
Extract Flash animations saved in .EXE files.
Convert ZIP files which have been saved as .EXE files to zip.
Extract the JPEG pictures from Canon & Nikon RAW files.
    Extract System 7 Sounds
Use it for forensics examining cache files of various kinds
Invisibly attach files to images - simple steganography
File Juicer doesn't care what type file you drop onto it; it searches the entire file byte by byte. If it finds a JPEG, JP2, PNG, GIF, PDF, BMP, WMF, EMF, PICT, TIFF, Flash, Zip, HTML, WAV, MP3, AVI, MOV, MPG, WMV, MP4, AU, AIFF or text file inside, it can save it to your desktop or to another folder you choose.
