Loosing pictures

I have noticed that pictures taken on my Z10 are not in my albums. Pictures do not display in this app. Today I took 3 photos. Could not find them in the pictures folder. When I opened the camera 1 was displayed in bottom left corner of screen, until I used the camera again and then I was unable to find it. Do not see any requirement in the tutorial to "save" picture after it is taken. Could it be saving to another folder than the pictures folder?

If you have a memory card in your phone it could be saving them there but you would expect them to show up in the Albums even so.

Hello Robert,
your documents are really huge. Are the files so big or are they so manyfold? If you have the possibility (with Preview or better with Photoshop/Gimp/Seashore) you should save the images with as low size as possible. Do you want to print the portfolio or it is for screen presentation only?
To see if there is a problem with Pages or with the images, you should have a look inside the docuemnt package folder. To do so, do a control-click onto the document icon and choose "Show Package Contents" from the appearing menu. In the new Finder window you can see all the files your Pages document contains. If you can find the images there about which Pages wrote it is missing, try to open some of them in am image editor to see if they are broken.
If you can open them, they are okay. I think the images are made with an digital camera. Of what resolution are the images? If you need the portfolio for screen purposes only, you can calculate them down to 92dpi and a proper pixel count (for smaller display ca. 800 to 600 pixel and for larger display ca. 1280 x 960 pixel). This depends on your own likeness. I only want to give you a guess.

Gifting the iPod Touch to clients... don't want to loose pictures

We have purchased about 15 iPod touches that we would like to give to clients as gifts for the holidays. We would like to pre-load the touch with pictures from each client's projects that we have worked on (10-15 pics per client per iPod) and maybe pre-set the background with a company logo that says happy holidays and thanks for your business.
I haven't started pre-loading any of the iPods yet just to make sure I don't mess something up. Is it possible to load these pictures and maybe the background on the touch before giving it as a gift? Well... I'm sure that is possible... but what I'm thinking about is... we would probably have to associate each with our iTunes first (giving it a name, uploading the pics, etc...) before giving it to the client. Once the client connects it to their iTunes... it is probably going to erase all of the photos that we put on it... right? Is there a way to do what we are wanting to do without them loosing the photos when they first hook it up? They always have the option of removing them at their own leisure but we think it would be great to have their project photos on their when they first open it w/ the ability to keep those photos on their if they want.

That might be an ok (or only) alternative. I was hoping to make it as seamless and easy as possible on our clients... but I guess if worse comes to worse we could brand up a CD with both the pictures and then also instructions on how to get their project photos BACK on the Touch after iTunes has deleted it after the first sync.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Iphone 4 Recovery Loose Pictures

iphone 4 locked up in camera mode. So i turned off. When turned back on it went into a recovery mode where you see the itunes and usb cable. Itunes says to restore all data will be erased. If I restore will I loose all my pictures, video, notes, etc? My last backup was 3 months ago. I can't get to a file directory so I can download the pictures. If I have to restore, Is there a way to recover my pictures after a restore from itunes?

Loosing pictures saved in albums.

When i delete pictures in Recently Added Pictures (Photo Stream?) they are also deleted in albums where they are stored.
How can I avoid losing them?

LOOSING pictures with Album starter edition 3.2 !?

Any help possible??
I am using Album Starter Edition 3.2 (with Vista Home Premium) for more than a year in the current configuration, for 4 years altogether. I recently added photos from several new sources (second camera, and other people's photo-CDs) and since 2 days photos can only be displayed as thumbnails, when displayed as single photo a window opens and says "searching for missing file", when this is cancelled a "broken photo" sign appears in the thumbnail.
What happened? What can I do?

Dear Laura, I just solved -my- problem, and I hope this will help you too:
A few days ago I transferred the complete "Pictures" file to the desk top for better accessibility. This file was then not listed in the box any more that appears when you click "Search" so maybe you also changed the path to the photo file and can restore it that way.

Loosing pictures in Photoshop Elements

After scanning slide pictures from my Epson Perfection 3170 Photo into Photoshop Elements 4.01, I would do some corrections to the picture and then choose done. After doing this my picture just goes away, to where, I don't know. I have reloaded Photoshop Elements and the problem is still their. I have looked into my I-Photo program and it's not their. So I don't know were it goes or how to fix my problem.

Try looking in the location you have assigned for the Epson 3170 to save images. Never have used the scanner import option...I just scan and have it saved on my desktop. Anyway, the save location on the Epson 3170 is sticky so I'd open that dialog and see where the save location is. If you're lucky, your edits will be in that location.

TS1503 If I turn off photo stream on my I phone 5 will I loose the pictures in photo stream and camera roll?

If you turn off Photo Stream, all photos in Photo Stream only, will be removed from your device.

Loose random picture in Aperture 3.3.2 etc

I use 10.7.4. After updating to Aperture 3.3.2 the following problems occured:
-there are items in my aperture bin but invisible when opening the bin
-over 700 (out of 4000) pictures (raw [neff], jpg, tif [niksoftware] ) are only shown with a thumb the original is not available
-conecting to my ipad (which should sync w/ aperture folders) will try to conect w/ iphoto
I tried to "repair" but not succefull at all. Restoring from back up saved 99% BUT still 1 picture is lost
and the 5 (invisible) items in the bin. I fear when I empty the aperture bin I will loose pictures again and start
restoring again.
Does anyone have the same problem or even better a solution?

We will need more information to be able to understand what the problem is:
What is the Aperture version you upgraded from - an Aperture 3.2.x version or an Aperture 3.3 version?
If you upgraded from Aperture 3.2.x or earlier, you may need to rebuild your Aperture library, not only repair it. Also repair the permissions.

What do you mean by "bin"? The Aperture Trash bin?

Is this still the case after the "repair" you did? And where are your original (master) image files located, do you reference the originals outside the library or is your library managed? And where is the library - on the system drive or an external drive? If your images are referenced and you know heir location, you can use "File > Recoonect originals" to connect the versions to the missing originals. But if your library is managed, this will not be so easy. Post back, if rebuilding the library reconnects the images and helps with the trash problem.

Do you sync with iTunes? Then you need to select Aperture in the "Photos" tab of your iPad in the iTunes library inspector pane.

If you have been syncing with one computer and iTunes library only, and if you have been using the same Apple ID and iTunes account for all of your purchases - I'm going to take a wild guess that you have apps on the iPad that are not in iTunes on your PC. If that is the case ...
You need to transfer the purchased apps from the iPad to the PC first.
1) Without connecting your iPad to your computer, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your computer, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) Click on the Apps Tab in iTunes and make sure that you have a checkmark in the boxes next to the names of all of the apps that you want to Sync to the iPad. Make sure the Sync Apps heading has a checkmark in it as well.
6) Now click on Apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window on the right
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to do is to double check that all of your photos, music, movies and everything else that you want are still on the iPad and if needed go into each tab in iTunes and select that content to sync and sync again before you disconnect from iTunes.

I have a MacBook Pro and a MacBook both running Lion, I'd like to swap users but not sure how to without loosing things

Two MacBoosk in the family, about 1.5 years apart both running Lion. I need to swap the users of 13" MacBook and the 15" MacBook Pro without loosing pictures, music and other mics. files.
Any simple solutions?

Loss of picture quality by enlarging on HD TV

I have my mac mini connected to my tv and have enlarged the display by switching it to 720p in settings. Will this now mean i am loosing picture quality?

I wouldn't think quality would be affected, just size displayed... are you experiencing problems?

Alzheimer: arbitrarily loosing Photos in iphoto '09

Since about 1 month, iPhoto arbitrarily starts loosing recently added photos.
In iPhoto it still holds the thumbnails, but the referred original file is "lost".
It does not loose photos that were added earlier (before April/May timeframe).
I already tried:
- rebuilding all options by starting iPhoto with the Alt/Option key
- even deleting the current library completely and restoring the complete library from TimeMachine going back to December 09.
It restored everything flawlessly, but when I started to add new pictures, the arbitrary losses kick in again.
Before taking the very last resort - building a completely new library from scratch by importing just the image files while loosing all(!!!) ratings, albums, events, faces, etc. - I really would like to understand what is the culprit (Ignoring the fact that this would be a loss of days or weeks of works).
If it e.g. is a problem introduced by a recent update of iPhoto, I'd rather want to wait for Apple fixing the problem.
I could also go even further back in TimeMachine - but that's just guesswork and always involves days of waiting whether iphoto starts loosing pictures again.
If I directly inspect the folders (rightclick the library in finder and "show package content") and check the content in the "originals" folder, it still contains the link-file (alias) but the target obviously isn't available.
previewing such an alias does't show a thumbnail picture; just a white rectangle.
I also tried the following: make a TimeMachine backup IMMEDIATELY after importing new pictures and verify that the pictures are THERE. Then maybe after a week I notice that 5 out of 150 pictures are only there in tumbnails but no longer the original.
By the way: when TimeMachine tries to restore those pictures, it completely hangs for indefinite time. the only way to interrupt is alt-ctrl-esc.
doesn't seem like a "behavior as designed" for TimeMachine.
So - what do I expect from you guys in the forum?:
- any pointers, that this is a more common problem?
- recently introduced by an update to iLife/iPhote from Apple?
- any methodical suggestion that leads to a better understanding of the root cause.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
WHat you're experiencing are the effects of a damaged database file.

I lost most of my pictures after i backed up my iPod

hello fellow apple users!
Today, while I was updating my iPod,which was connected to my computer;my Ipod started backing up just like that. I hadn't backed up my Ipod in a long time,which I now know wasn't a good idea.Since i hadn't already backed it up before,I let it backup without questioning.(I hadn't backed up my iPod because I didn't have enough storage in my iCloud.) And I know i should have backed it up to my computer,but sadly,I didn't. After backing up,i wasn't capable of accessing my iPod,because it said i had to restore my iPod,so I can use it. Since i had backed it up a couple of minutes before, I decided to restore it to the last time i backed it up,which was a couple of minutes before(like i said before). When itunes asked to when I would like to restore my iPod,there was no sign of the backup i had done today. I couldn't do anything,so i restored it to the last time I had backed it up,which was an year ago. But thanks to the "photo stream",I was capable of getting some of my recent photos(photos i took within a month) but lost all my other pictures. I know that loosing pictures might not seem like a big deal to some of you all,but those pictures were apart of my memories,and now that they're no longer there,I feel sad. I am thankful for the "photo stream",since i was able to get at least some of my good memories,but still... If you have any ideas of how i can get back my old pictures PLEASE HELP!!! ( I just want to get pictures i took within 3months,its okay if i cant have the older pictures!) SO PLEASE HELP ME!!! THANK YOU IN ADVANCED!
