Loosing wifi on the iPad Air

Loosing wifi for a time on my iPad Air while still receiving wifi on my iPad Two?

Hello Pennyspain22
Try out the troubleshooting steps in the article below. Start with forgetting the network that the iPad auto connects and then rejoining it. You may also need to reset the network setting on your iPad.

  • Are the chargers for the iPad air and the iPad mini interchangeable?

My wife has the IPad air and I have the iPad mini.  Are the chargers and cables interchangeable ?

Yes, the cables are identical. As I recall, the Mini comes with the less powerful charger. You can use it to charge your Air but it will charge more slowly. You can use the Air's charger with either device.
    Best of luck.

  • Can I use the sim from my iphone 5c in the ipad air wifi cellular?

Can I use the sim from my iphone 5c in the ipad air wifi+cellular?

Both the iPad Air and iPhone 5C use a nano-SIM. Physically, they will work, but your operator may have some restriction. You should check with them.

Mifi devices are usually quite small. Think Credit Card size, and maybe slightly thicker. So not really a big device you need to carry around.
In any case if you are still within the 14 day return period you may be able to return it to an Apple retail store. It needs to be an Apple Owned store, not sure Authorized Resellers will let you do it.
Other than that, bob points out, you may want to try to use the iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad.  If your Carrier supports it.  Like the Mifi device, the iPhone will share its cellular internet connection out to other devices over a Wireless network the iPad can use.

  • How can i check the wifi speed on the ipad air?

I just bought the iPad Air for my wife as an upgrade from the iPad 2. Now she is telling me that it is buffering (loading, lagging) her show's a lot more than before. Is there any way to check the wifi signal strength, speed, or settings?
I have checked the wifi speed with 2 different lap tops and they are very close to each other.

After reading a lot of ratings and reviews from the app store, OOKLA has not made it work on a iPad.
Love the app on my phone and run test all the time on my computers. Not a hater! But after the update the app does not run as smooth as it did before
Anyway to see or check the settings on the iPad Air?

  • Apple, please fix your connectivity problem for the iPad Air 2! Your OS 8.2 did nothing to fix this!! Very frustrating to not be able to connect to wifi some days!

can someone from apple please address the wifi connectivity problems with the iPad Air 2??

thank you for responding. My specific wifi issue is that my connection will disconnect then reconnect in a matter of minutes of each other. After an hour of this back and forth dance of connections it finally stays disconnected. I can go two weeks without  this issue then it will start up again for a day or 2. I have done all the basic troubleshooting.. Including checking and restarting my modem and router. Our iPad mini does not have these issues. None of our laptops/iPhones or xbox have connectivity issues. I have found many other iPad Air 2 users complaining of the same iconnection problems on various blogs. One blog had even discussed the ios update and how they were surprised it did not include a bug fix for this connectivity problem.

  • TS3988 My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • I have just bought the iPad Air but when I try accessing my fotos from my iCloud account, I only get this years fotos whereas in my old iPad I can access the last three years of fotos. I've tried syncing to the computer but it didn't help

I have just bought the iPad Air but cannot access the roots I have on my iCloud account. They do appear on my old ipad 2, any ideas how I can access them please

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Is possible buy the IPAD air open to any celular companies?

is possible buy the IPAD air open to any celular companies?

There are still different cellular systems.  You should purchase an iPad with cellular for the carrier you plan on using.  You can purchase with cellular, but not activate the option and use wifi alone.

  • What do you think of the iPad Air?

I am considering going out to buy a new iPad Air today. Can anybody tell me if they have purchased one and if it is really worth the money? I know people have different uses for them to justify a purchase, but I wanted to know if it really is aesthetically more pleasing to hold than, say, an iPad 3 (which is what I had for a year before trading it in for the value before it dropped).
    Thanks!

I have had every version of iPad since they were introduced. I have had very little problems with them until now....with the iPad Air. I have a 32gb  version, wifi only, and since I bought it yesterday, I have had numerous low memory crashes usually when I watch a movie preview in ITunes. So far, I have tried everything to fix, soft reset, hard reset and a complete start form scratch. I may be unlucky, but it looks like I will have to return it for a refund or replacement.
However, it is much lighter and more useable than my IPad 3; but my iPad 3 does work okay!

  • Does the iPad air purchased in Hong Kong valid in Canada about the 1 year warranty?

Does the iPad air purchased in Hong Kong valid in Canada about the 1 year warranty?

    Hi Courcoul,
Thank you very much for your help!
Here's our situation. We are in the satellite offices, meaning in the trailers, where we have wifi set up. But they will be walking into the construction site often, but I'm not sure if they would need internet connection there...
Now I just spoke with one of the team members who arrived from Japan yesterday WITH their iPad Air, and my manager was impressed with it (hence my manager wanted to have some for his onsite staff).
According to them, they won't be needing internet connection in teh construction zone, but just computer (data input or reference), then when they return to the offices, they will connect with the WiFi.
My dilenmma is that there are TWO version sold in the US:
    1. with Built-in Wi-Fi(802.11a/b/g/n) with MIMO support
    2. with Wi-Fi+Cellure
And he does want the option to insert SIM cards when they return Japan, but doesn't want to sign up with any US carrier...
Does it make sense? Which one should they choose???
    Thank you!

  • Difference between the iPad 2 or 3 and the iPad Air?

What is the difference between the regular iPad 2 or 3 and the iPad Air or Air 2?  Thinking of getting them for the kids for xmas but have no idea what is what and what the difference is?
Also do we go with just Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and Cellular?  i want them to be able to use them when we go up to our camp which does not have wi-fi?  if they dont have cellular will they still be able to play games and stuff?

The differences:  The iPad Air and iPad Air 2 are newer, and as such are not only lighter in weight, but have more RAM memory, and have better hardware inside. Newer Faster Processor, newer better cameras etc...
Basically an iPad 2 is 3 1/2 years old hardware at this point.   The iPad 3 is 3 years old.
The iPad 2 and 3 are no longer being sold.  Discontinued for a while now. If you mean the iPad Minis 2 and 3, then you can see  a comparison chart here.
    https://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/#comparison-chart
Obviously the Mini's are smaller than the Air or Air 2. And Hardware like processors and camera may be different.
As to Wifi or Wifi + Cellular, only you can define that. Do the games they play require internet access?  If they do, then without a Wifi network, and without Cellular data, they won-t be able to be played.   Note that Cellular models will require a Data plan with a carrier either monthly payment or pay as you go. So that may be extra cost you don't want to pay for.
You may also want to contact your carrier and ask about a Mifi device.  This will let you have a small Wifi network (which connects to a cellular network for internet access) wherever you go the iPads can use.  Carriers usually have good plans for this.

My iPad 4 does not show up on my TV screen when in AirPlay mirroring mode using WiFi.  The iPad displays AirPlay set to TV with the Mirroring On (green).
My iPad IOS software is 8.2 and my Apple TV software is at 7.1.  The TV displays the Apple Menu.  The “Settings” does however displays the General menu allowing me to see:
    Apple software:          7.1 (7003)
Apple TV:                   Model No. A1464, Part No. MD199B/A
    Signal Strength shows 5 circles.
It does not display the iPad screen but when I use the BT Sport App I can hear the sound but there is no video.  I have searched the internet for a solution to no avail. The problem first arose when the IOS was at 8.1+ but it worked correctly briefly when I updated to IOS 8.2.  Can you help please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

ipad air 2 there's no silent mode like the other iPads ?? the button that does it does not exist on the iPad air 2 what does replace it??

hi the older button could be set to either "force portrait mode" or "silent mode". now you can do both in the iOS control center (swipe from the bottom of the screen), so the need for a button isn't needed anymore.
