Loquendo TTS agents

The Loquendo speech agents Aussie Grace and Aussie Alan used to be available with Captivate 5 but are no longer available in Captivate 6.
Can someone tell me where I can locate them, or buy and install them?
I need a TTS agent with an Australian accent.

I don't use the TTS functionality myself (not realistic enough) but I've heard others complain about the removal of TTS voices.

Seriously, this Loquendo aka Nuance (or whatever) are two (or one) of the most difficult companies to figure out how to buy their stand-alone voices. It is ridiculous actually. The best thing to do is contact them directly and ask them (be certain to specify that you are looking for just those voices).

Hi, I'm creating my first captivate 5 projects for use with a Robohelp 9 Help File using Loquendo English Speech Agent - Simon. I have experimented with pronunciation by typing text in different formats in the slide notes, this seems a lot of work and duplication. I seem to have read somewhere (probably incorrectly) that if I update the User dictionary for Kate this will be used be all the speech agents? If so this doesn't seem to work - is there a way to update the dictionary for Loquendo Speech Agents? Huge thanks to anyone who can help.

CP 6 Neospeech and Loquendo Speech agents

Hi All,
I recently updated to CP 6.0.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the updated text to speech agents for NeoSpeech and Loquendo that work with CP 6?
I currently have 5.5 installed.

Captivate 5 Crashes (Unhandled win32 Exception) when Generating Loquendo TTS

I consistently get “An unhandled win32 exception occurred in AdobdCaptivate.exe” when Generating a TTS with Loquendo and my VS2010 JIT kick in to “help”. No dump, nothing in the log.
I have a 1 slide test project trying the quality to the TTS engines. The MS and NeoSpeech allow me to generate an audio file, but using the Loquendo voice (any of them), I get a “Test-to-speech Progress” dialog, followed by the exception and Captivate closes. I installed both the NeoSpeech and Loquendo from the Adobe site, along with the Captivate trial.
Any ideas where to start debugging this?

Resolved!
This problem has been resolved and I want to thank for posters for pointing me in several directions to look. As some of you suspect, the problem had nothing to do with Captivate 5 or Loquendo, except some bad behavior by not handling an Exception.
The root cause was several .Net Framework 4.0 BETA DLLs hanging around. This particular machine had several incarnations of .Net Framework installed, uninstalled and reinstalled. Digging deep into the registry, I find some beta code still getting loaded into GAC. My solution was to trash this users’ PC and reinstall a fresh copy of the OS (it’s a sandbox machine anyway).
After installing a clean copy of the OS, all the maintenance and upgrades, including .Net Framework 3.5 SP1, Captivate 5 (and friends) worked properly.

Is anyone using Loquendo voices (besides the ones included w/ Captivate)?

Is anyone out there successfully using Loquendo TTS voices (besides the English, French, and German voices that are included with Captivate) directly from within Captivate? If so, were there any special steps needed to get them working? We have been trying this with 30-day trial versions of Loquendo voices, with no luck.

I just found your post when I was searching for a German voice for Adobe Captivate 6 (Adobe does not provide the Loquendo voice anymore with that version).
Did you get other Loquendo voices to work? Or did you get voices from another supplier, if so, which one?

Best practices when it comes on online content creation

I'm trying my luck since Google is not really providing me the results I'm looking for or I'm using the wrong word searches. Is there any information available that lets a novice like me to know when developing an online content, what are some of the best practices to adopt from a user prespective or human factor engineering. Examples of some scenarios
- When developing text caption, what should be the appropriate font size be?
- When having a light color background, what color should the text caption and highlight box looks like?
- In software simulation and adopting the TTS agent, should I have only one voice or should I have multiple voices?
Any advice or point of reference is appreciated.

Definitely no internet-wide standards for any kind of presentation, but most mid-to-large sized companies have a standards document somewhere.
That said, if you're like me and lacking in visual design sensibilities, the answer is simple - theft! Find a video or training presentation you like, and adapt it. The rules say you can't re-use their actual content, but nothing is stopping you from ethically borrowing a few aspects of a visual style - font, background colors, etc.
Also, your approach will evolve over time, as you gain experience, and the specifics will change quite a bit depending on your subject matter, and your intended audience. A marketing video is distinct from an informational video in some fundamental ways, and aiming at customers vs. prospects will also significantly affect how you present your message.
If all else fails, go to Fiverr.com and ask someone to build you a title slide based on your company logo and the title of your piece. That should give you a great starting point, for $5!

Third-party TTS voice appears in Speech Agent list, but Sam ends up reading

I'm trying to use a trial version of Ivona voices to generate text-to-speech in CP5, to test the capability. The Ivona speech agents show up in the Captivate voices list, but when you generate the text-to-speech, Microsoft Sam ends up being the voice. Is there an extra step I'm missing? I was able to get this to work with the trial version of Cepstral voices, but I'm having a problem with both Ivona and Loquendo voices. Has anyone gotten this to work, and if so, what are the missing steps?
I should mention that the Loquendo and Neospeech voices that are included with Captivate work just fine. Also, this is a purchased version of Captivate 5.

I have just tried the trail version of IVONA voices with Adobe Captivate 6 (on Windows 7) and I have the issue as reported by joebor1776.
Adobe Captivate sees the installed IVONA voices and it allows me to assign a different voice to each sentence. Unfortunately the audio generation fails to use the assigned voices, it uses the voice that is set as the Windows default voice (Windows 7 » Control Panel » Speech Recognition » Test To speech). This means you can't create a dialog between two or more persons.
Does anybody have a solution for that?

I have sent an email to Ivona to see if they have a solution, but did not receive a reply yet. In the meantime I did some more research and found that http://www.cereproc.com voices are compatible with Captivate 6.

Failed User Launch Agents

New to Apple Support Community; sorry if posted in the wrong place or if done other dumb things...
Don't know really what i have done wrong, but after my iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) with OS X 10.10.2 and 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM got rather slow, i used EtreCheck and removed a number of red-coloured UserLaunchAgents and things seem to get better.
With the following exceptions:

If any of you two has misgivings about my ideas, i would like to know.
I think it might be wise to save your money and plan on a replacement Mac. Even a low end Mac mini would out perform the iMac and Macbook. But it is not my job to spend your money.
If you can install Lion, it might be the better performance solution. Should not cost you anything except time, and extend the usefulness of your Macs for awhile.
If you really want to keep this hardware in service AND have newer software, then max'ing out the RAM and replacing the hard disk with an SSD is how you can get reasonable performance. But RAM and an SSD are going to add up to money that could be better put into a new Mac. And besides, "Real-Soon-Now" Apple is going to stop supporting those Mac models and then newer OS releases will not install on them.
Again, I do not want to spend your money.
(for your info: i'm still a noob, but the first computer i had to use for my work in 1968 was an IBM 360)
Gee that is even before my first computer (a PDP-8 in '71; well there was the Burroughs Computer in the University basement where I submitted my card desks, and a printout came back; the PDP-8 belonged to the University too, but at least I got to touch it; That lead to a job a UNIVAC where I got to touch the UNIVAC equivalent of the IBM 360).

IPCCE Agent Whisper

Hi,
Can we achieved whisper to the agent ( Like this is Sales Call or Maintenance call ) prior to call delivery and answer by IPCCE with IPVIR.
Does anyone have a workaround or ideas on this? Is it possible with any IPCCE with IVR solution. I know it is possible with IPCCE with CVP 8.5.

It’s under UCCX but applies for Enterprise as well as it is really a CAD workflow thing. Ideally for environments with IP Communicator as it uses a little VBScript application to invoke the Microsoft TTS to playback enterprise data via the PC but as it mentions you can use a Plantronix MX10 amp to bridge PC audio and a physical hardphone through to a single headset. Neat little way to do whispers as it doesn’t use IVR ports like if you use the method where you use the IVR to place a call to the agent and play an announcement first before routing the call through.

Adobe Captivate 7 TTS French Canadian MAN's VOICE

I'm desperated... I've been looking over forums and stuff, on the web, and tested a few things, for more than 2 days now…
I NEED HELP !
I NEED a TTS French Canadian MAN’s VOICE… working with Captivate 7 [Please notice that the Premium and Chloe voices, from the NeoSpeech pack for Captivate 7, are just very, very, very, fine… but they are women…]
I reapeat myself, but I really NEED A FRENCH MAN’S VOICE !!!! (and if the voice is not Canadian : any kind of French speaking man voices, I insist, will do.
It doesn't bother's me anymore… can be France, Swedish, Morocco, …)
I bought Capitivate 7 to save time and to use the Text-to-Speech functionalities trought the slide's annotations.
My concept is not working at all !!!!!! [construction field teaching]
I work on a Mac with Mountain Lion [OS X 10.8.3] and I’ve already installed before installing Captivate 7, in my operating system :
• Canadian French Voices, which are : Félix and Julie,
And
• France Voices wich are : Audrey, Sebastian, Thomas and Virginie.
And disable Zarvox and all those ****… wich is remaining in Captivate 7 ????
Of course, I tried to put <whatever tags> in, but this is not working anymore in Captivate 7…
The major problem, is that my operating system voices doesn't appear in Captivate 7. Why ?
How can I make them appear ? Or use them ?
Is there's any Adobe stuff, or a third-party, free or not, that I can use for my client’s needs ?
I’ve noticed that Loquendo doesn’t exist anymore … they used to have a lot of differents languages to use with Captivate [they used to have a FRENCH MAN spoken]…

NeoSpeech seem to work on PC, not on a Mac.
Their Voice Cloud service only offers English voices.
In all the voices NeoSpeech offers, the only French voice, is Chloe.
Chloe is already installed with the language package for Captivate, and work´s well.
Still can’t find a French MAN spoking voice to integrate directly into Captivate…

But, needs to be generated on the web, then needs to be dowlaoded, then need to be imported into the project, and then must be synchronised into the timeline...

RGS routes calls to Busy agents (alredy In a Call)...

Hi guys,
our Call Centre agents are reporting they get 2nd incoming call transferred via the same workflow as the 1st call.
Their status is In a Call and obviously call should not be routed to them.

Apparently this happens when there are a whole bunch of incoming calls.
Do you know what is the coded logic for RGS quering agents status?
Does it query RTC db for agents status?
My guess is there's some OCS server component underperforming and RGS application queries something (db?) to find this particular agent status is Available (not updated yet to In A Call).

It is possible that it may not be getting the updated State because of performance issues.
You can use RGS performace Counters to monitor the activity.

TTS message not playing

Hi All,
I am using CVP 7.0 with ICM 7.5. I am using Nuance Speech Synthesizer. TTS messages works fine when providing Self service to the callers.
When the call is in Queue, I need to provide the following queue treatment.
1. Hold music for 1 minute.
2. Play hold message using TTS.
3. Hold music for 1 minute.
4. Play hold message using TTS.
5. Play promotional message using TTS.
6. Repeat the above steps till the agent becomes available.
Sometimes It plays messages from Step1 to Step5 for the first iteration properly and does not play the TTS message for second iteration.
Sometimes TTS message is not played in first iteration itself.
When there is a problem with playing the TTS message, call gets struck up there and there is no audio(DEAD AIR). But still call is there in the gateway and when the agent becomes available then the call gets transferred to the agent.
If i run "sh mrcp client session active detailed" command on the gateway, i see "Error, data for call <Associated Call ID> is not available" error message.
Did anyone face this issue?

For me I was able to resolve that at a friend's place by updating their Internet Explorer and their Adobe Flash for firefox.

There is a requirement to have background voice in Hindi, Bangla, Vietnamese, Arabic, French in order to cater to different clients.
Checking in Loquendo and Neospeech, I am able to find TTS only for Arabic and French (Canadian).
I want TTS for other languages (Hindi, Bangla, Vietnamese). I could not locate any useful freewares in googling. Please suggest how to get a good TTS for these languages.

Hi, I am aware of VTML tags, and I use them myself. When I have 80 slides in my project with TTS and I want the entire project to have the same speed TTS, which is slower than the default speed, do I still have the put VTML tags on every slide? In general, the TTS is too fast for non-native speakers. I would like to globally change the speed, or at the very least on a project level.

Is there a reference of Loquendo tags (\item=...)?

In the demo site of Loquendo I noticed special tags such as "\item=cough_01" that produce sounds. They work in Captivate, is there a full reference of these sounds available?
Also I noticed that Umlauts (ä, ü etc.) are spoken correctly by the Loquendo demo, but not in Captivate even though its the same narrator. It seems as if Captivate converts these (ae, ue etc. ) before handing them on to the TTS engine?

Today we have had some success. We have managed to create new entries in our *.dbl file and they have been recognised within Captivate. Now the only thing we need a hand with is a phonics generator to create the phonetics for the voice to pronounce.
Below are the steps to get this working...
Download the software (Freeware)
Download SQLite 3.7.0: (You may not need this step, but it worked for me, so I just included it)

Download SQLite Database Browser 2.0b1:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser/
Install both software packages.
(SQLite Database Browser only needs to be unzipped, and can self execute from anywhere.)
Backup database files
Make a copy of all the files in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Loquendo\LTTS7\data\languages\English
(This is incase something goes drastically wrong- better to be safe than sorry)
Export Database to Edit
Open SQLite Database Browser
Open the current voice file pronunciation database (*.dbl):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Loquendo\LTTS7\data\languages\English\EnglishGb.dbl
When you look in the Browse Data tab, you should see that this database holds all the extra pronunciations for the voice to speak.
Export the database to a CSV file:
File > Export > Table as CSV file
Press Export
Save the file somewhere (Desktop worked for me) - make sure you give it an extension *.csv as it won't do it automatically.
Edit the Database file
Double click the *.csv file to open it in Excel. You should see that all the data is available.
Scroll to the bottom of the file (Line 2836)
Add any words you would like at the bottom of this list.
The First column indicates the word that you wish to change the pronunciation: voyeur
The Second column indicates the pronunciation: v w Aa: j `O:
The Third column (we think) is the type of pronunciation - we have just kept it at "ACC" and have had no issues.: ACC
There are further columns which can be edited - 7th provides and alternate spelling of the word (kilobyte - kb) - but these are the basics which are needed.
Once you have added in new rows to represent the newq pronunciations, you will need to sort the list alphabetically.
If you haven't done this before, scroll to the top of the file, highlight the top row, go to Data > Filter, and add an Auto filter. You will notice that drop down buttons appear on each column title.
Simply select Sort A-Z by the graphemica column.
Your new words should be now in order. Save the file (Ensure you save it as a CSV file, and not an excel file)
Create the new database
Here comes the destructive bit! (Make sure you have backed up these files!) Within the SQLite Database Browser delete the index file.
Edit > Delete Index (delete idx_lessico)
Next, delete the table.
Edit > Delete Table (delete lessico)
You should now have an empty database file with no data or no index file. It is now time to put the data back in and re-index the file.
Import the data back in from the CSV file you created.
File > Import > Table from CSV file
Before you can continue you will have to save the file. Click OK.
You will now be shown a sample of the data. Here you will need to:
give the table the name of "lessico"
Select the checkbox "Extract field names from the first line"
Click Create
The table will slowly be generated, and you will be told the Import is complete.
Now you will need to create a new index for the table.
Edit > Create Index
Give the index the name of "idx_lessico", and click Create.
Save the database file
File > Save
Now you are done! Test this to see if it works with your Captivate file...
Now... I still need help trying to find a phoneics generator. IF ANYONE CAN FIND ONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Installing Loquendo Veena Voice for Adobe Captivate

Hi all,
We are intending to purchase Loquendo Veena voice (Indian English). We are using Adobe Captivate 5.5.
After installing this Veena voice will it get automatically listed in the Audio --> Speech Management --> Speech Agent list?
Further, I did check the Loquendo site regarding Veena voice and there is no specific option to BUY or PURCHASE. How to do the purchase of this voice? Any idea?
