Lord of the Rings Online - Open Al Support? (vista x

So, I do want to say that I have been using the x-fi and the latest drivers in vista since they released. A vast improvement over the beta so I am happy. Most things seem to do 5. positional audio and eax without much of an issue.
However, Lord of the Rings Online, Shadows of Angmar is not handling EAX or 5. surround correctly. Left and right front, and center channels are the only sound sources. I am guessing that I need to get it to work with open alchemy so that it can translate the 3d positional audio.
Has anyone been able to get this to work, or have any info at all?

Anyone at all have any ideas how to get 3d sound working in LotR online?

  • Lord of the Rings Online: Now free to play:

Here are some links for anyone interested in investigating the topic, they are a great start at least:
    http://email.lotro.com/hostedemail/emai … 4EF8D3115D
To play the game on a distro (or OS X, for that matter) you need some help. I suggest that you look beyond the initial impression that a first glance of the Wine site provides:
    Wine:
    http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p … n&iId=4891
That link gives you a start anyway, there is certainly more help that will make itself available with a quick search.
    Or:
    Crossover Games:

Had a certain thread not existed in the UF, we may very well have not been able to play this Windows game on any distro or on OS X. As it stands now, it plays superbly:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=386480
Via the above linked thread, the efforts of a handful of people who have worked tirelessly for the community; ultimately garnering voluntary assistance from a nameless LOTRO developer. Which made the playing of this game outside of the MS sphere not only possible, but gold star standard for both the distros & OS X.
    A fine example indeed.

  • Windows Game -Lord of the Rings - Mac Client

    Dear all
I've converted to the world of a mac and love it.
I'd love to be able to play Lord of the Rings online and have read many forums about a download from a site called Fille Planet. The download is a client which installs everything needed to play this windows-based game... (Although the site looks a bit out of date) !!
I'm a bit of a tech novice and am not keen to do this and want to keep life simple.
Can anyone advise me as to whether this is worth it or not...... or should I just install Windows 7 via the Boot Camp.  I have hear this can slow my machine down. Is this true ?
    Any advice would be good.
    Cheers

Lord of the Rings Online now is available, as a native Mac Client,  for free download from Turbine.
Then either sign-up for a Lotro account, or use your existing Lotro account you may have already.
It runs under OS X Lion and Mountain Lion.
This is a 17.7 GB download, so best to run it overnight to your Mac.

  • HT201232 I puchased lord of the rings extended trilogy and did not have enough storage on my 16 gb ipad mini. It only downloaded the first movie. Is there a way i can view the other 2 or get a refund?

I Purchased lord of the rings extended trilogy but do not have enough storage on my ipad mini 16gb. onky 1 movie fit, is there a way to view the other 2 or to get a refund?

To have them all on your iPad at the same time you would need enough free space, which you won't have on a 16 gig model.
You might be able to download them on your computer's iTunes, possibly via the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option, or by going to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If you can you can then sync/watch them one at a time to your iPad, or stream them from your computer's iTunes to your iPad via homesharing : homesharing will need to be enabled on both your computer's iTunes (File > Home Sharing menu option) and iPad (Settings > Videos) ; both will need to connected to the same wifi network ; and iTunes on your computer will need to be open ; you should then get a 'shared' library option in the Videos app on your iPad

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
If there are specific tasks you need help with:

    Is a good resource.

  • ITunes Extras for Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Bundle

Hi. I am wondering if anyone knows about how to access the Extras that are supposed to be included with the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Bundles. On the Store page for the bundle there is a section listing out Extras included but the movies don't have the normal blue badge thing that other titles have. Is there another way to access them? Thank you for your help.

Well um I feel pretty stupid. I found the little download links on the movie pages and the Extras are downloading now. Too bad Apple doesn't make those easier to find.

  • My Digital Copy download (of the Lord of the Rings) on iTunes was interrupted and now will not re-download. How do I download my movie, or who do I contact to help me fix this issue?

I downloaded a digital copy of the Lord of the Rings' and during the downland, iTunes quit. When I restarted iTunes the download was gone; when I tried to reenter the digital copy redemption code it said it has already been used. How do I get my digital copy of LotR back? I lost all three movies in the series (as they were downloading simultaneously) and I would really love to have them on my Mac.

    thankyou. THANK you.

  • The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition in french ?

When will the french version for The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition be coming out in itunes Canada store ?

We are fellow users here on these forums, we won't know if/when the Canadian rights-holder might allow Apple to sell it there. You can try requesting that it be added, but unless Apple are granted a license to sell it in Canada then they won't be able to do so : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Lord of the Rings (BluRay/DVD) Extended Edition

I just purchased the 15-disc "Lord of the Rings" BluRay/DVD trilogy today at Best Buy because it was on sale for $39.99 (actually, I got it for $29.99 because I had $10 of Rewards Zone money...so even a better price for me).  Some reviewers on Best Buy and Amazon.com mentioned that the 15-disc set also came with digital copy codes.  Mine did not.  Maybe this is because the codes expired in June 2012?  I was just curious if I really should have been expecting codes in my 15-disc set...to at least try to see if they still worked...or was this "by design" now that the offer appears to have expired?

Not 100% sure, but I recall that there were 2 versions. One with digital copies and another without it last year. I never bought it so I can't tell you from personal fact. I just remember people talking about it on blu-ray.com forums during last years Black Friday.

  • Lord of the Rings Lego

I've grown to enjoy playing the Lego version video games on the Wii platform (Pirates, Batman, Star Wars) and was excited to hear Lord of the Rings was coming out. But Best Buys site doesn't list it as being available for Wii? About every other platform other than Wii??
I checked wal marts website and they seem to have it for future release but not until 12/31 whereas Best Buy says 10/16 on all other platforms? A game store in my local mall says 10/30 so another different date...
Will the game be available on Wii or not and if so, when will it actually be coming out?

Alright Bigboygamer2012, I heard back from my email and we are working to get both the Wii version added as well as the release date updated for the Nintendo 3DS version.  I'm not sure what that timing looks like on those updates but they used the time unit "days" so I would suspect soon.

  • HT1473 Can I add drama  I have 12 disk collection of a Lord of the Rings BBC dramatic series.

Can I add drama cd's to my itunes music library?  Is there a separate category for cd's that are not simply music?  I have a 12 disk set of a Lord of the Rings dramatic series.

You'll probably want to include these as "audiobooks". See Audiobooks on iPods for tips.

  • Cant find lord of the rings audiobooks on itunes

Can't find lord of the rings fellowship of the ring volume 1 hunbridged audiobook on the nz itunes store but can find volume 2. The other two books have both volumes 2 able to purchase why?

It's not here in the UK either, presumably because audible.com (who I think supply all the audio books that Apple have) haven't passed it to Apple to put in the store. Is it available on other audiobook sites that you have access to in New Zealand ?

  • Does the lack of Open GL support in Java FX 2 force us to use Swing?

    Hi,
We are about to start the development of a major User Interface in Java. Naturally, we would prefer to implement this in Java FX 2, rather than Swing. However, we need to render heavy 3D models (generated from several CAD files) with overlay from 3D point clouds with ~400K points. We already have a Swing implementation that supports this, based on the JOGL API. What I have understood, there are no support for JOGL or similar OpenGL wrapper in Java FX 2. Instead, Java FX 2 seems to aim at a high level 3D API. Based on previous attempts to use similar high level API's in the .NET world (e.g. WPF 3D), high level 3D API's are usually not appropriate when working with large and complex 3D models.
Therefore, I would like to ask for suggestions on what to do here. Do we have to develop our new User Interface in Swing because of this? Or can the announced JavaFX SwingNode be used to wrap such a complex Swing component? If so, how would the performance suffer from the JavaFX wrapping? If the SwingNode doesn't solve the issue and we therefore need to implement the main application in Swing, should we still consider implementing non-3D sub-views with Java FX 2 or should we go for Swing all the way? Our developer group has previous experience from Swing, but none from Java FX. Still, it does not feel right to start the development of a new UI - which we intend to maintain for many years from now - using a deprecated application framework. We are about to decide our way forward here and would really appreciate any thoughts on this topic.
    Thanks,
    Thomas Berglund

See this StackOverflow question: How to use OpenGL in JavaFX?
It sounds like the best answer for you is the addition of an OpenGL node to JavaFX.
An OpenGL node has not yet been added to the JavaFX platform.
As you have a team of people experienced in 3D development and Java and all of the relevant JavaFX code is open source, I'd encourage you to consider creating an OpenGL node or working with Oracle to create one and (if you are inclined) contributing the development back to the JavaFX code base.  If you are interested in this, contact the openjfx-dev mailing list.
    > Do we have to develop our new User Interface in Swing because of this?
    I don't think so.
    > Or can the announced JavaFX SwingNode be used to wrap such a complex Swing component?
I don't know, but it doesn't sound quite the right approach to me.
It seems a dedicated OpenGL rendering node would be a better fit as long as you don't need other Swing functions in your SwingNode.
    > If so, how would the performance suffer from the JavaFX wrapping?
I think if you had a JavaFX Node which was a Swing Node which handled OpenGL then performance would likely be worse than a JavaFX Node that handled OpenGL directly.
    > If the SwingNode doesn't solve the issue and we therefore need to implement the main application in Swing, should we still consider implementing non-3D sub-views with Java FX 2 or should we go for Swing all the way?
Either way would work, but I do not recommend mixing the technologies for your application unless you need to.
There are some considerations with mixing JavaFX and Swing:
    1. Swing widgets look different from JavaFX widgets (and it's not trivial to make them look the same).
    2. You have to learn two toolkits then mentally switch between them when developing (this is just annoying).
    3. You have to be (very) careful of threading issues as each toolkit has it's own primary thread.
    4. There are some bugs in mixing JavaFX and Swing (search JFXPanel in the issue tracker) that simply wouldn't occur if you weren't mixing libraries (most of these bugs have been addressed but some are outstanding).
    5. The Swing functionality isn't going evolve, it's good at what it does, but it is not going to change and get better.
There is (very experimental) work in merging the JavaFX and Swing application threads, which makes a combined programming model a bit nicer to deal with, but it remains to be seen if that experimental feature becomes a default for both platforms.
Unless you want to reuse existing extensive Swing libraries (like NetBeans RCP), a pure JavaFX application seems preferred (as long as the OpenGL node can be worked out).
    > Our developer group has previous experience from Swing, but none from Java FX.
There are similarities, previous knowledge of Swing is a benefit, but there are a lot new things to learn in JavaFX (and a few things to unlearn from Swing likely).
My 2c . . . best of luck with your project.
